DO NOT BRING YOUR BMW HERE!!!! Seriously. DO NOT. I don't care if you're desperate, you WILL leave the dealership with MORE problems than when you dropped the car off. I'm an honest young man, and I can promise you that these people are just no-good. On 03/25/2026 I brought my 2010 E83 X3 in for a free recall repair. I am a mechanic myself, and I have a high level scan-tool that I use to fix my own cars. I have 100% time-stamped proof that the car had zero BSD-related codes before going in for the recall repair. The only codes it had were for an unplugged Eccentric Shaft Sensor that was causing the car to idle awkwardly if it was plugged in. The car is ready, recall repair "went well" they said. I get 5 minutes away from the dealership in my car and THREE brand-new error codes I've never seen before pop up on my scanner. They were BSD faults, meaning the communication between the Engine Computer and the electric Coolant Pump/Oil Level Sensor/Alternator was somehow disturbed or damaged. THE TECHNICIAN WOULD HAVE HAD TO REMOVE 2 of those parts to complete the recall, because in my case, they HAD TO remove the oil pan to find broken bolts from the recall problem. I messaged their Service Manager/Advisor. I don't have anything against the guy, I just want this shirking-off and blameless demeanor solved. Me: "Hey, I have 3 new codes. Any way the technician maybe forgot something, or pinched a wire?" Advisor: "No. Those are completely unrelated." I really, really, REALLY regret taking his word for it. Today, 3 months later, the car is completely useless -- stemming from ONLY those BSD codes. Which, again, were incredibly likely (literally a 99.9% chance) caused by the technician performing the recall. Considering they were not there before the X3 went into the dealer for service. The 0.01% chance it wasn't their fault is just my inner mechanic and nice-guy nature trying to be fair. Let's be real, obviously it was the shop visit. You don't even need to have years of automotive repair experience to connect these dots. Earlier this week, the severe problems started with 16.0V voltage surges, caused by that BSD communication line being scrambled. I messaged the advisor and let him know that these voltage surges were causing other electronics to break, and I had to replace the alternator out-of-pocket. Then, this morning, the Coolant Pump completely gave out. Electronic Coolant Pump reading 0 RPM (it's completely dead). Car now cannot be driven or even operated for longer than 60-120 seconds without risking flash-boiling coolant, warping the cylinder head, and/or blowing the head gasket. BSD codes cause this by forcing the Pump into a default "safety" mode where it operates at 100% speed 24/7, because it's unable to receive BSD commands from the Engine Computer (DME). Over time this causes the electronics inside the pump to burn out from excessive heat, and it wears down the impeller's mechanical bearings. I messaged the Advisor again, using a bit of my own technical expertise to try and explain to him WHY and HOW this was VERY likely their fault. I wasn't rude at all, I was just straight to the point and technical in my analysis/explanation. I even thanked him several times for speaking with me and even considering taking a look at the car again. Well, now they're "not making any promises" and are only willing to look at it. Which means they need to "investigate themselves" to see if these problems were caused by the recall repair. I live a 3-hour drive away in the mountains near Sugarloaf. No way I'm towing the car 150 miles to have them act blameless and charge me up the wazoo. WE ALL KNOW what "Investigate" means. They have a bias and self-interest, just like any other business. You'll get this impression from reading the other reviews targeted at the service department. There is absolutely NO WAY they're going to fix this for me without trying to charge me some exorbitant amount, claiming the problems are somehow "unrelated". It's not rocket science. In August, 2025,I attempted to purchase a BMW M2 from BMW of Westbrook (Bill Dodge Auto Group). The dealership provided me with a signed build sheet and confirmed the order. I also provided my payment information for the deposit. The next day, I was told that the order could not be processed unless I added a $2,600 option. This requirement was not enforced by BMW's official configurator or the dealer's system, and neither the sales representative nor management flagged it when approving the build. When I asked the dealership to honor the agreement or absorb the additional cost, they declined, offering only to cover part of the sales tax. I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Maine Attorney General's office. The AG noted they could not mediate since the transaction did not complete, but they have forwarded the matter to the FTC for review. While this particular issue no longer appears with the 2026 BMW configurator, my experience with the dealership was disappointing. Even with signed paperwork, written confirmation, and my payment details on file, they would not stand behind the agreement. I believe they engaged in unfair trade practices. I stopped in several weeks ago because I will be trading in my car and wanted to check out the BMWs. I am a woman and walked in alone to see what I might like. Noone approached me or offered assistance. I noticed another single woman in the showroom who seemed very upset. She apparently had a major problem with her car and needed something immediately to replace it. I was appalled at how she was treated. The sales agent seemed kind but timid and another man who I believe was either the sales manager or general manager was so dismissive. She came back into the dealership asking for the car mats and manual that were apparently missing - the manager acted put out. I knew at that moment that I would never buy a car from them. It's stressful enough buying a car but as a woman; its even more stressful. They were not kind nor were they helpful. read more

Brought my 760 in for a brake fluid change the vehicle was recommending. Adam M is my service manager. He told me this would take about an hour and a half. I have my 2 dogs with me today out of necessity because my fiancé is hospitalized. At 2 hours-witnessing history here approaching the Guiness Book of World Records Longest Brake Fluid Change-I checked in with Adam simply asking for the status of the Brake Fluid Change. He lazily says, "Yeah it's not out yet." Thanks Einstein. That's a status I myself can see. I asked how much longer. Same SMART ASS ANSWER: "It's not out yet." Rather than getting off his ass or calling to get status on my car he offers, "would you like me to tell them TO NOT wash it so you can get it sooner??" So HIS solution to my waiting now 45 minutes longer than he said, is to deny me more service. Have my car brought out dirty. AGAIN, rather than finding out how much longer I'm waiting. I am a veteran. I value someone's ability to provide a modicum of service. Maybe something is wrong with me? No I think it's probably him or the dealership. Nevertheless. I will be AVOIDING THIS DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE AREA as much as possible going forward. I wish I never came here. I have 2 BMWs that I own outright and am ready for new ones. BMW dealership in Westbrook was amazing. They worked closely with the insurance company on a rodent damage claim. Due to insurance delays the car was not ready prior to my trip abroad and I was going to be gone for a considerable amount of time. I was worried what would happen as I would not be able to be here to pick up my car. The manager Michael told me not to worry, they would take care of my car while I was gone. They did not charge a storage fee. When I returned from overseas my car was ready and running better than ever. I cannot thank the manager Michael and all the good hard-working people at BMW Westbrook enough for a job well done and excellent customer service. Also a very nice loner car was provided while I was here in the states. The waiting room was comfortable with cool beverages, a pod style coffee machine, and snacks. They were able to drop me off at the airport and pick me up at my hotel, everything was perfect, thank you very much Michael and BMW of Westbrook. read more

They scam everyone, do not trust Mike service manager, he is the worst one. Never returns call and if he does mistakes you for another customer. How he has kept his job is beyond belief. read more

UPDATE FOR EMILY B - nice try with the corporate speak about your strict standards. The same BMW you passed was suddenly failed with only 900 miles in between inspections. Stabilizer bars fail from one inspection to the next driving 900 miles? Where were your "standards" the first time?? The "person" that passed the same car was a Maine authorized station that specializes in Maine inspections and do not offer to "repair" a sudden problem. They also don't have slumping sales that need to be made up with "repairs" in the service department nor do Maine sticker station have "financial goals" like your store does. Speaking of sales, you have no idea how much this little trick cost you in future revenues, let alone brand reputation and loyalty $$$. Watch out for the Inspection Sticker scam !! Brought my BMW in for an oil change + sticker on a car with 20,000 miles on it....and what do you know, they "found" a loose stabilizer bar and want 400.00 for two bars because they can't replace just one. I call BS as this same service department passed this same car the last time with practically the same miles on it (garaged in winter) but my husband brought the car in last I decline the 400.00 "repair" and they FAIL the inspection. I then go to a Maine authorized Sticker Station the next day and a "miracle" happened...the stabilizer bar was just fine. The guy showed me the bar and had a good laugh at BMW trying to fill their cash register with needless repairs. I then call back the Westbrook BMW manager and you know what he says to me ?? "BMW has higher standards for putting inspection stickers on cars". I told him that I have a higher standard for business ethics and will buy it my next 3 BMWSsomewhere else. read more

Paid over $100k for new all electric iX a few weeks ago, within couple of weeks there are multiple small abrasion marks all over the windscreen. Apparently, not a factory issue according to BMW (who are totally unbiased of course), and not BMW Westbrooks problem, they just prepped the car for delivery - so let's leave the issue with the client. Prior to this really good service, just feels like a 'good times' service level, needs to be re-thought I think. Told by the salesman that they view these first deliveries of all electric as 'basically prototypes'.....well would have been good to know prior to handing over the check! Generally good overall experience ruined by lack of support with an issue - shame about the service attitude unfortunately. Being a bargain hunter by nature I've compared service prices at Bill Dodge to local shops (including some that advertise frequently servicing European cars). I needed rear shocks replaced and admit to sticker shock. The days of $19.95 per shock I guess are long gone. I priced a couple of local places, and the one that advertises frequently (I don't know if we are allowed to name other places) was $30 cheaper. Then I got a $100 coupon form Bill Dodge. In addition because the repair was expected to take all day they set me up with (and paid for) a rental car. Had I tried to save $30 I'd have actually spent more and had to borrow my wife's car (or have her drive me to/from work). read more

These guys saved our life. Due to a mechanical failure that no one could fix, we had to trade in our Hyundai Equus en route from Canada to Florida. Everyone in this location, including the paperwork guy who was born on Cape Breton, was courteous and went out of their way, despite a raging storm that knocked out power to thousands of households. My Z4 35is has been serviced by two of the biggest and most respected dealerships in NY/NJ, so I had very high expectations for the care my car receives. Not only did BMW of Westbrook meet those expectations, they exceeded them! I had a major breakdown and had the car towed to Westbrook. Tracy and her service team treated my car like their own! They provided me with a loaner and then worked for over a week to get me back on the road. It was a huge job and they did a fantastic job. I wouldn't think of bringing my car anywhere else! I bought a new 2015 BMW x3 (which I thoroughly enjoy) and I had warranty matters to tend to -the xDrive system kept resetting itself and I would lose all my preferences and have to start from scratch. I had a prompt appointment and was greeted cheerfully and my matters were tended to by genuine and experienced staff. The technicians were able to recreate the problem and apply the right fix. I also had my vehicle detailed the next day and it came out looking show room new. Just as important to me is the follow up; where I needed to have assistance with resetting my preferences, I was offered the assistance of the "genius" to guide me through this as some things had changed with the computer upgrade. BMW of Westbrook has generally been pretty sloppy. We had decided after doing some review checks that we wanted a BMW X1, and the AAA Car Buying Service referred use to BMW of Westbrook. We talked with two different agents there to describe exactly what we wanted in a vehicle, and they set up an appointment for us to come look at a X1 with that option set on a saturday. But when arriving at the dealer? Despite the "appointment", nobody was expecting us. After the better part of an hour chatting with their "BMW Genius", we finally got to talk to a sales agent... and despite all the effort we had spent talking with their online sales folks and setting up an appointment, none of that was conveyed to the dealer, so we started all over again (and the vehicle we had wanted to see? Not available, and nothing like it on the lot) After a lot of back-and-forth, the sales agent was able to find a reasonably configured vehicle at a dealer in MA to have shipped up. We agreed, and they set up another appointment for us a week later to pick up the vehicle. Then the bigger drama starts. Two days before our appointment, we get a call that the vehicle wasn't transported for some reason, and that it would be at least another week before our vehicle was available. But it we wanted to get the April incentives, we still had to come by and do the paperwork. So we drive back to the dealer (3.5 hours RT) to handle that. To again find out that nobody seems to be expecting us and to wait 1.5 hours to talk to the guy doing the paperwork. So we get done all of the hassle of paperwork for completing a sale, except that we don't have the car yet. They offer to drive the car down to our place for delivery (fair enough, a good gesture), and we get the car and do the initial walkthrough, and are told "oh, when I get back to the office I'll send you all the BMW Assist paperwork", but then find out that several of the options just aren't working (none of the BMW Connected services work at all). The sales agent isn't very responsive to queries, and it takes a lot of back and forth with the BMW Genius to even get Connected Services working. CarPlay, which we paid $300 for, isn't apparently installed and we're still having to dicker with them about that without resolution. But the kicker is that three times during this process, I get an email from the General Manager of Bill Dodge and Westbrook, asking how our experience was and encouraging us to contact him if anything wasn't to our expectations. I did, and even left a phone message, and heard back.... nothing. The email also asked us to review them online. So I am. read more

There is one reason to go to BMW of Westbrook: it's the only BMW dealer in Maine. That's the only reason. We go because they're our dealer, and that's where we have to go to get service under the factory service plan. Expect long waits (completely unnecessary) as you watch the service writers drinking their coffee and logging onto their systems at 8 a.m.; hope you don't have to get to work right away! At the moment I'm waiting for a call back from one of those service writers. Called twice, no one was available to pick up the phone in the service department so I left a message. read more

I brought my vehicle in for two small items to be fixed. When I showed up to picked up my vehicle Bill dodge presented me with a Bill and told me what they did for service, then gave me the keys to the car and told me it was parked in the lot somewhere and to go get it. It was pouring ran out. Nobody brought the vehicle in to the covered service area. They also did not do a walk around to show me the vehicle's condition or show me the service rendered. I immediately smelled gas and oil from inside my vehicle which I found odd. But none the less continue down the road it wasn't until a few miles down the road I noticed the front windshield was smashed on the passenger side and there was Greasy finger prints throughout my entire interior including my headliner and passenger side A-pilar. I immediately called the assistant service manager Tracy Noyes and made her aware of the situation and she denied accountability and it was no big deal to her. They didn't even have the decency to let me know that the window was smashed upon picking the vehicle up. Upon returning the vehicle for further inspection I asked for the service manager, Walter Ferrara who never introduced himself or even looked at me or said but a word until he absolutely had to. They denied damaging the vehicle and said that I did it and that they weren't going to do anything about it. (no refund or windshield) They couldn't even prove to me that the damage existed via all there photos they took of the vehicle on their Ipad upon taking the car into service. They also took my car into the recon bay, with out my permission to try and wipe away the grease off the interior and a-piler where it proved they where working and broke the windshield. They where also working on the wrong side of the car. my issue was with the drivers side a-pilar. They didn't come close to getting all the grease off either. They never offered a refund and have done nothing to resolve the problem. This is a complete lack of respect, customer service, morals and ethics. Usually I avoid any dealership service after my maintenance plan is up. This service department however is a pleasure to deal with; you actually have the experience one should expect when servicing a car with a BMW dealership. Clean, organized shop, state of the art equipment, polite, knowledgeable service advisors and manager. Many of the employees are real BMW enthusiasts, always a good sign in my book. The cost on some work is a bit higher than good independent shops, but overall pretty competitive at the end of the day. Work is done correctly and on time. Was sold on services that don't hold true. Was told there is a pickup/drop off service (if you can wait until the middle of September), there are loaners available (but they don't have any available), we provide you a rental car (yeah, they provided me with a Dodge Journey, aka the Lunch Wagon, as a rental plus $100 deposit). I have an X1 but pretty sure they aren't putting someone who buys an M6 into a friggin' Dodge Wagon! They definitely don't treat all BMW buyers equal. Not having another BMW dealer in the state allows for this poor service. I wish there was competition so they would have to step up their game. I showed up this morning before 8 am to drop off my car and leave with my rental. At Morong and Portland Volvo, I have always just driven in, handed them my keys, sign a few papers and get the loaner. A process that is about 5 minutes. At Bill Dodge, you go in, have a sit in their lounge for 15 mins, watch the service team drink coffee, get up and find out what is taking so long, wait 5 more minutes, finally get the paperwork done, then wait another 15 mins for Enterprise to show up and give you an inferior vehicle to borrow. A 45-minute process. Not like any one has to be to work! Should have stuck with Morong. UPDATE: It keeps getting better. The $100 deposit on the Lunch Wagon rental/loaner was then billed to my account and I had to call today to get the charges removed. Great job Bill Dodge, keep up the great work! @#!% read more

I have a new BMW and am new-ish to Maine, so far I have brought my car here for oil changes, a few odds and ends, and inspections the state requires. I recently had a flat tire and had it towed in, at which point (several days) they informed me they couldn't find the culprit, the tire had to be replaced because it could not be repaired, and that actually ALL of my tires had to be replaced. At 12,000 miles I was shocked. I spent weeks dealing with the tire company trying to get them warrantied, calling/emailing all around and researching tires, meanwhile I am riding my bike and borrowing my friends cars to get around (because they NEVER have loaner vehicles). Finally I decided to have my car towed to a local place my friend recommended for a second opinion, and they IMMEDIATELY found the nail in my tire. They informed me that the tires had at least another 10,000 miles left, wouldn't dream of replacing them, and charged me $40 (one day). I had been waiting and stressing for weeks while BMW Westbrook tried to swindle me. I called the "service manager" and told her what happened, she said she would report it to the manager and I would hear from him. NOTHING. I called the manager and left a VM, still, NOTHING. I may still have to go here while my car is under warranty because the next closest one is in MASS, but I would say DO NOT trust them or expect anything resembling honestly and good service. HORRIBLE. Oh and to top it off, BMW usually cleans your car after service; my car interior was literally TRASHED, She said it was because of "covid". read more

I initiated my search for a 435xi Gran Coupe through an Employee Purchasing Tool on my company benefits website. I was contacted by a number of dealers...and I even test drove a BMW locally at a Boston area dealer. After some unsuccessful attempts to order a car to my liking at the Boston area dealer--I couldn't get the sales person to call me back within sooner than 3-5 days even after directly providing the build requirements I wanted and offering to come in to place my deposit. In a moment of desperation, I sorted through all the dealerships that had been calling me and responded to a call/email from Brittany Hale because of all the sales representatives trying to contact me, she understood my specific interests even prior to having a conversation. When I contacted her, she was timely in her responses, extremely helpful and easy to work with--which made the purchase process unbelievably simple. Within moments of reaching out to her, she found a car coming into the states that met my requirements (plus a few extra bells and whistles) and secured it for me within a day of our first conversation. A little over a week later, I drove the 2 hours to Maine and left with a beautiful new car and feeling pleasantly surprised that the purchasing process was so pleasant and seamless. Every detail was accounted for when I arrived and I couldn't help but think as I was driving away in my new car, that it was an experience that every person purchasing a new car should have! I bought a new BMW from this dealership and I was very happy with all aspects of the service UNTIL my warranty ran out and I bought an additional BMW warranty to cover regular service for about $2200.  Just a few weeks after I bought the new warranty my BMW was totaled!  I went back to the service and dealership manager and told them what happened and they assured me I would get my $2200. back since I never got to use it.   Days and Weeks went by, each time I checked about my money both of the managers had excuses as to the delay of getting my money back....all the while assuring me that I would.   Finally, I was told that I wasn't getting ANYTHING BACK. Even though the two men promised me and my wife they would be able to cut a check in a day or two, now their stories changed.  They said it was my "bad luck" that my car was totaled only two weeks after I paid $2200 for the extra coverage, that they don't have to give anything back to me. read more

I'm writing this review because I'm very unhappy with the unprofessional manner in which the BMW Westbrook dealership takes care of its customers. On October 27th, I had an appointment scheduled at 8am because one of my rear car doors was leaking water inside the vehicle. As I was pulling into the dealership, I got a phone call from Taylor at the service department telling me that I don't need to come in because they don't have the part that is needed to fix the leak, after I drove 40 minutes to bring my car there. The customer's time is also valuable. I was told to come back next week, (today) November 1st, at 8am. I brought in the car and was later called and told that it's going to cost $245 to fix the seal on my door, where I was told the seal valve cost $60 but with multiple hours of labor, it would amount to that. I told them that it was expensive and that I was going to have my mechanic friend fix it with the part, and I was told that they have to charge me $120 for labor just to have quoted me how much it was going to cost me. I finally agreed to the price of $245 to let them fix my door. When I got my car back there was a whole puddle of water on the back passenger side where the leak was. If they knew it was a seal problem, why wouldn't they vacuum out the water before giving back the car? Also, the door, is still filled with water, and drips every time I open it. If all of these hours were spent on, quote "taking the door apart", why would the door still be filled with water, or why wouldn't have they cleaned up all of the water? I'm surprised that BMW Westbrook treats it's prestigious customers so poorly. I would have gotten better service at Kia. This definitely makes my next car purchase decision, which is in 4 months from now, very easy. I bought German engineering for a reason, not for second rate service. read more

The staff was professional and friendly. Our vehicle was serviced with no issues. The Manager Bob Houp was looking for an item for me to provide to us as a courtesy. It is people like that with that type of supportive attitude that will have us returning. The dealer and it's people are 5 stars.
