The issue: Went in to exchange a nintendo 3ds i ordered off their website. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS STORE. NEW AND IMPROVED? YEAH RIGHT. went to customer service and was attended by KEYAUNDRA. I handed her my reciept that came in the box when it got to me. SHE DEEMED MY RECEIPT NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I needed an "actual" receipt. She read on the paper "Have an issue with the order? email us at [insert walmart email here]" and said "Oh, see, this means you have to mail it back to them." Um. No. The policy states i can exchange my walmart.com items at a walmart store. So i speak with the manager. He says it is possible. I go back, and she keeps saying she knows what she's doing yet didnt know the policy obviously. So i speak with the superviser of customer service. the whole time shes like "uhhh i dont know" .... ZERO HELP SO FAR.I show her the policy off the website and then their attitudes change. "oh no but you need to go get us an easy return receipt." ok. i get it. i go back. and im helped by a man with a nametag reading "Brooke".. He doesnt even bother to scan my receipt and man handles my DS. He "typed in" the receipt #. So then hes confused because he needs to "override" and then the supervisor comes and says "oh see we cant over ride that." and rudely, in the background while im trying to listen to the person attending me, KEYUANDRA butts her nose in "AH BEEN HERE FIVE YEARS I KNOW WHAT IM DOIN, but they dont wanna listen. " TO her current customer. Rude. so that was 4 hours for nothing. I get frustrated....But i decide to go to the walmart at SHAW ave. and you know what? THEY HELPED. it took less than 5 minutes. the manager had to type her password to override the code which the ones at this location didnt even know or say was possible. they obviously know NOTHING, and it was a HORRIBLE experience. what i also noticed, was another customer that was sent off by KEYAUNDRA ( i saw her send at least 5 people home without helping) was helped quickly by the one in shaw. TL;DR SAVE YOUR TIME, THE EXTRA DRIVE IS WORTH IT, GO TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION, THIS ONE IS ABSOLUTE SHIT. ESPECIALLY KEYAUNDRA. They threw customer satisfaction right out the window with these pathetic workers. read more

Customer service is bad, but that's true for most Walmart stores. What really bothers me is that they have a "2 items at a time" rule for dressing room. For people shopping alone this is terribly inconvenient as I'd have to get completely dressed to switch out clothes EVERY time! I left a basket of clothes just because I don't have the time to do that nor would I want to if I did. In my opinion, if staff is unable to monitor a six-at-a-time rule then they should find new competent employeea, instead of punishing customers with inconvenient rules! read more

Sure it's small but it has everything you need in it. The customer service is really great. Always stocked and maintained. Restrooms are sanitary. The customers greet you. The parking lot is small but always has parking. I go here all the time it's just like any other walmart. Glad that it brings some good shopping to the neighborhood. read more

Worst store ever. I have been waiting for thirty minutes due to the fact that people have to wait for liquor to arrive at line 11. Walmart would certainly save customers and cashiers time if you simply just gave them the alcohol to carry around with them to the line. If this Walmart is scared off theft or underage purchases, why even have employees standing around to "check" receipts? Lastly, the store is just a mess. read more

I will say the service is not to my standards at this location, but I did come across a few employees that I found helpful so that has earned the store in its entirety two stars. I placed a pickup order because I figured if I could choose to spend only a few minutes in the store and lower my risk of being exposed to COVID, placing a pickup order makes the most sense. I placed my order at around 5:30PM April 14th, and I figured it would probably be ready in about 2 hours, as most stores typically have that wait time. I get an email that said that it would be ready the same day before 8PM, and also a message that said it would be ready next day. I was confused by the email, so I called to verify because I wanted to get it sooner than later, but I also didn't want to get ready for bed too soon and then find out my order was ready. I called at about 5:50PM and was transferred over to the pickup department. I asked the employee for clarification on my order, and he replied to me with a nasty attitude, "Well if I want to get home on time then I suggest you come tomorrow." I was so taken back, I've never been spoke to like that by ANY store employee. I understand that they may feel overwhelmed by the amount of work needed from them in these hard times, but there's no excuse to be rude to a customer when I simply asked for clarification. He made it abundantly clear that I was an inconvenience to him and his time so I hung up and just waited for the next day for my email to be updated. Next day went well, although I will say I never received an email about my order being ready, I had to call again because it was already noon and I was starting to become impatient. Second call went fine, I was on hold for about 10 minutes but I didn't think about it too much because I know there's more important things going on in store. I picked my order up at around 1:25PM and everything looked good and the employee that helped me out was very friendly and seemed to be handling the craziness of the store really well. Overall, I would just say there's a major inconsistency in customer service, some employees are really friendly and know at least basic manners, while others are there being miserable and projecting onto customers. If you decide to do pickup I would say only do it if it's something you think will sell out quick because their online system is not very accurate. read more

Parking lot is filthy with trash and carts everywhere! Only came to this location because the Shaw store did not have the product that I needed. While driving to the store, I tried calling the store to see if they had the product in stock and I dealt with employee Marla, was on hold for 18 minutes while she tried different departments to see if someone could help me. She was very rude and I asked for a manager, she then told me all the managers are in a meeting and that there is only one employee that can assist with figuring out if a product is in stock and she was at lunch. This place is disgusting on the outside as well as the inside! read more

So today we went to Blackstone and Ashlan to buy the new call or duty game and then got home opened the package and tried to play the game and it wouldn't work so we went back to the Walmart to try and see if we can exchange the game and so we talked to their "manager JV." And he begins to tell us that we went home and exchanged it with a fake. However none of us know how to do that let alone spent $70 to get this damn game and can't even fucking play it because they gave us a fake copy. They are selling false advertisement. Corporate will be hearing about this Tomorrow morning!!!! This is not the end of this!!! They didn't try and resolve the issue they just started accusing us of tampering with the game that we really wanted to play. It's just depressing to know that they don't care to even notice the issue. They Told us that they have known about this being an issue but not only with PS4 games but also XBOX games and are doing nothing at all. They just told us to call the manufacturer but gave us no information to contact them. If it doesn't get resolved tomorrow there will be a lawsuit. read more

Well, it's Walmart, so what else is to be said about it that has not already been said. I do like the fact that it is located at the old Mervyns building on Blackstone and Ashlan. It is good to have one in the center of town, and FYI it is always busy and the parking lot is always full. I am not kidding, it does not matter what time of day or night it is, Walmart is packed. This Walmart is a bit on the small side in comparison to the Super Centers in Clovis and on Herndon. I have only shopped here a few times, I generally avoid all Walmarts unless I have no choice. I swear, this Walmart has every single checkout lane open and is still busy. If you are female, and like buying makeup at Walmart, this place is not for you. The cosmetics section is Itty Bitty, no bigger then a few outhouses put together. Very limited selection of Make up. The only makeup I really buy at Walmart is Hard Candy, ELF, and NYX. None available. So if you are a female in need of some makeup, you might want to consider shopping elsewhere. read more

On 5-22-18 I lost my purse in the Ashlan Walmart. My first thought was that it was stolen (in hindsight I think I did something stupid when I was price-checking items), and I was freaking out...long story short, Keantae, who works for the Ashlan Walmart and in my opinion deserves a promotion, found my purse and I am so greatful to him. Awful. This is one of the most crowded Walmarts I have ever been to. Luckily they have a massive parking lot so at least that wasn't an issue. Trying to get through the store was a hassle but with a lot of people you can't blame the store for that. As is the case with most walmart trips, we had some interesting requests. We were looking for one of those curved back massaging sticks. Thinking that they might be close to the ankle wraps and such, when I didn't see them I asked the pharmacy if they happened to know if they had any. She said that they put them out seasonally and they might be in the after Christmas sale aisles. Sure enough we found one, Just our luck, they were placed under an everything 50% off sign. When we went to the register it didn't come up on sale. We were told this isn't a Christmas item so it wasn't on sale. But we were told it was a seasonal item, it was in the sale aisle and it had a 50% sign right above it. As we waited for them to check we reviewed the rest of the items and found that another item was labeled improperly and should have been cheaper. They looked throughout the store to make sure we were right and when they came back they decided that one item was incorrect but the "holiday" item may have been placed in the wrong section. So much for the customer is always right. They didn't even say that they would try to get it moved. read more

Well first off they strip search you on the way out. then I go to buy some groceries with my wife and we are both near fifty and this lady tells us we both need IDs to purchase the beer ...WTF I just about blew up.my wife was as always afraid to buck the system well I'm not. I went in to make some small CO-VID19 purchases and a return. It started with them making "changes to the policy" on return items so they weren't exchanging anything, it was one item so I let it go. I then completed my shopping, got to the register and attempted to make my purchase. I found an item online that I wanted to price match and told the cashier who very sweet and polite. The two supervisors that came over to price match the item however, was not as professional as the cashier. They told me that their manager told them that they don't price match online Walmart products, I then asked them for proof of the policy and they was unable to produce it. Fortunately, I had time. I went online and found the policy that stated they DO price match for their items if sold by Walmart itself (she claimed she was unable to produce the policy but she didn't even look for it. If she can't find a policy, she doesn't need to be an Assistant Manager). Finally they sent over the floor manager who completed the transaction but claimed her supervisors were stating a new policy that hasn't been updated in their systems yet. If the online site policies states the OPPOSITE of what you and you supervisors "think" is right, please don't argue with the customer. That's unprofessional. read more

I have been shopping at this Walmart since they opened. I like one stop shopping and I have it here. The convenience is a plus for me.

Don't let the location fool you, this is thee best Walmart I've ever shopped. the staff are SUPER friendly, and the store as well as the parking lot are ALWAYS clean. The store is well stocked and shopable. I used to shop at the Walmart on Ingram in the ritzy neighborhood before this one was built, and I must say even the the Ingram store is bigger and supposedly in the best area...I prefer to shop at the Ashlan location for the impeccable service! I don't like to complain, but I was very embarrassed when I stood in line at the register for over 5 minutes, only for the cashier to tell me he can't ring up my merchandise because I had alcohol and told me to go to another register. And after half of my merchandise was on the table. So I went to another line, only to wait longer! The last time I came, I asked for a book of stamps, and the cashier called the supervisor, and the supervisor said I had to stand in line at the service desk. I got my stamps somewhere else. Not good service. Walmart needs to train their employees to give better service. Always small issues, but today was not good service. And by the way, I'm still in line writing this! Lol read more

this walmart is terrible. the customers and people in the parking lot are terrible. there is always at least one cop on top of a security guard there and they always have people being lazy as hell and parking somewhere they shouldnt on top of about the same 3-4 people walking the parking lot loitering and begging for change as well as cigarettes and when you avoid them or tell them no they threaten you. im not afraid of them but i certainly wont ever send my family there alone, no reason why this walmart cant get better control over its parking lot... read more

Horrible customer service from Associate Kia and "Manager" Amber. They would NOT honor a price that a product was displayed. There were clearly multiple of the same products in that display with that price sign and the "manager" Amber said it could not be honored. The correct price was not even displayed at all. That is their mistake for not putting up displays with correct signage. I called a different Walmart and their manager said they HAVE to honor it by LAW!! I will be contacting corporate for fraudulent and misleading advertisement and display signage. read more

Update: About a year later they did a big staff change and a security update...maybe because of my post, who knows. You don't see a lot of sketchy characters like at time of my original post, which was one star. I am comfortable to visit there again and will continue as long as they don't revert. I live nearby and I was excited when they opened a Wal-Mart nearby because the closest one was on Herndon and Ingram (which is a pretty good store, but I wish I didn't have to drive all the way there for small stuff and the nearby Vons sucks). On the weekends this Ashlan Wal-Mart is very cramped and parking is nuts. It is a very small Wal-Mart since it used to be a Mervyns. During the week it's not crowded. I have to say that out of all the Wal-marts I have EVER been to, I have never been checked out by guys so much and so disturbingly as at this location. Apparently their last resort to pickups is this store. Please keep in mind I'm in my mid-twenties, college educated with a long-term boyfriend who respects me, and I dress properly. I am not looking to attract others. There are many bums around the area. Today I went in and a man with no basket or cart (only a drawstring backpack) straight up walked to me while my mother, who was next to me, was having he fabric cut by an employee near her. He asked me, "Do you want to mate with me?" I gave him a stern and serious, "NO." As he started started to walk away he said, "I was joking but I guess it wasn't funny." Both my mom and I responded that it wasn't. We also knew he wasn't kidding. Nobody in their right mind says that crap in a casual tone. Once he left the area my mother asked the employee to call security after she (the employee) didn't say or do anything about it. her priority was on the fabric first. She called her supervisor but we didn't know if that did anything until the manager was walking by and we talked to him. The manager was great and took down info on the guy. He happened to be nearby when we saw the creep again and had him kicked out of the store. My mom told the employee that SHE can't ignore this stuff if they don't want customers to stop coming because they feel uncomfortable and a guy is only stalking people. I work in a professional customer service environment in which security is a high priority for our customers. As a woman and an employee I would have thought security for her would be important, too, as this could happen to her. Another complaint is from a previous visit in March when I went to buy some dog good. Some guy was sitting on the floor at the end of the aisle with a medium-sized dog that was NOT a service dog. He also had some kind of jackets/blankets on the floor under the dog. I have seen more people bring small dogs to various stores, not just Wal-Mart. It's not cute or sanitary. As a dog owner my advice is to have someone watch the dog or leave it at home unless it's Petsmart or the dog is a service dog that does have specific tricks that help the owner, as stated in California law. Once again, kudos to the manager for being on top of today's situation, but this was definitely the last straw. The Herndon and Clovis Wal-Mart's have never looked so beautiful. ;) read more

That that the employees are rude or the line is going slow or you see someone has to put something back because they didn't have enough money. Have you ever worked around customers? then you'll know why the employees act the way they do. Company's always say customers are always right, yeah OK customers are not always right. And the customers act that way because they know about it. If you get item make sure they have a price on it if not find one like it so you don't have to be up set when you go pay for it. People complain way to much. It's either too much stuffed cramed or not enough stuff as the other Wal-Mart's either way I'm gratefull that it is there close and carries a lot more stuff then what was there before which was nothing. No McDonalds but if you walk a couple blocks down there's one right there so get over it. Yea the areas small but I defiently think they made the best of it. They handed me all the bags, but of course left one item out just like last time. Plus, past experience trying to get the item they forgot to give me is such a headache at guest service!!!
