I have went back-and-forth as to whether it is worth it to even write a review. But I have been sitting with this uncomfortable knot in my stomach since my interaction this weekend; I hope that by sharing it, I can stop running this scenario through my head: My 11yr old daughter and I walked to Walmart together on Saturday evening. After checking out, we put our stuff in the bags that we brought with us, and showed our receipt to the employee at the door. The employee told my daughter that she had to show him what's in her bag along with her receipt, which is against store policy (more about this later). I told my daughter that the receipt was sufficient and that she did not have to empty her bag - AND THE EMPLOYEE TOLD MY DAUGHTER THAT SHE COULD EITHER SHOW IT TO HIM OR THE POLICE. She got so terrified that she immediately burst into tears, opened her backpack to show him what was inside and proceeded to run all the way home in the dark, screaming, crying, and terrified. For what? SHE DID NOTHING WRONG! My child is 11-yrs old and was threatened with the police for not showing what was in her bag WITH a receipt. By the way, the employees' response: (SEE YOU SHOULDVE JUST DONE THAT FROM THE BEGINNING). I returned to Walmart THE SAME NIGHT to speak to customer service, who told me they would follow-up, and I received an EMAIL (not even a call) from the manager apologizing for her employee's inappropriate treatment, and asking for another chance. And If this were the first time, I MIGHT give them another chance. The first time I was treated inappropriately and when I FIRST learned that it is against store policy for them to check my bags after an employee CALLED ME BACK INTO THE STORE AFTER I PAID AND ILLEGALLY SEARCHED MY BAG AFTER ACCUSING ME OF CHANGING PRICES ON ITEMS AT SELF CHECKOUT. That was, of course, easily disproved - and after I filed several customer service complaint, I got the same canned email response. So, NO! Walmart: I will NOT give you or your teammates another chance to accuse, harass, or violate me or my family. This morning I closed my Walmart + account and also paid off and closed my Walmart Capital One credit card. I live less than a block away from Walmart -it is the closest store to my house, I am a single mom on a budget, and it is also one of the cheapest places on the island to shop. This will definitely be more of an inconvenience to me than them, and based on their responses to both complaints of harassment, I'm sure it will not matter to Walmart. BUT MAYBE IT WILL TO YOU??? As I told my 11-yr old, there is no cost or convenience that makes having your civil rights violated worth it, and their treatment of us was priceless. read more

Today, 12/27/23 at 1:01pm, i came to Walmart Kapolei. I have been here for 45 min already, and the moment I stepped into the store, all I heard is overhead paging of various departments. Your team members don't use headsets and radios???? It's annoying to hear a page every 2 min or what seemed to be every two minutes. Plus, not to be mean, your team member who's doing that paging has a heavy accent. Walmart invest in radios to communicate with your team members. It's irritating to hear all that gibberish on your overhead speaker. Maybe in the 90s, it worked. However, today, it doesn't. It should be used for emergencies, not zone your department. You should train your greeters to know that it is illegal to stop someone on their way out to check receipt. I kept walking because 1) it is my right 2) the greeter was chatting it up with another customer. She stopped me to check my receipt. Without probable cause she has no legal authority and should be trained to know this. Your manager also illegally tried to not let me shop without a mask on my face during Covid even though I have a medical reason as to not wear one. Your store is infringing on people's rights and breaking civil rights laws. It doesn't matter that it is a private store, actually it isn't. It is a public accommodation and without membership you are not allowed to tell people to wear things on their faces, or stop and seizure a person without probable cause. Everything is locked up behind glass and there are few employees to help unlock the glass doors

Sorry I forgot the young man name, but last tuesday he repaired my glasses for me. I replace the screw, repair nose gaurd and cleaned for free and use his precious time to do it. Tried to give money or buy lunch but was just proud to satify a customer. The best customer service I had in a long time. I will be updating my post with his name. This happens to be my favorite walmart anyways because of location, products and serve. read more

WalMart Kapolei located on the corner of Farrington Highway and Fort Barrette Road. Entrance to the parking lot can be accessed from Farrington Highway. There are couple entrance and exits for WalMart. One set of doors can be accessed by the Outdoor section while the main entrance and exit doors can be found towards the mountain. Entering through the main door I spot McDonald's on the right hand side as well as a financial services branch. Registers, MoneyGram, and eye doctor are located on the left side of the entrance. Walking further into WalMart I would browse through the women's and men's clothing section. Gradually I would make my way towards the back of the store to browse the electronic section. Venturing towards the left side of the store I would find some household items and hygiene products. Towards the center of the store would be some groceries. I have bought several items from WalMart. Ink cartridges for my printer, comforter for my bed, personal hygiene products, clothing wear for men and women, as well as groceries. Majority of the times I would stand in line so the cashier can ring me up. Cashier's seems friendly. There are self service registers for individuals in a rush. I did use the self service register couple of times...I always make sure that I have my own shopping bags on hand to pack the merchandises. There are lots of parking for individuals with vehicles. Bus stops can be found on Farrington Highway and on Fort Barrette Road leading towards Makakilo. read more

The grocery section is way too small....don't carry a lot of brands Target does. Shelves are usually empty...lots of out of stock item. It seems the check out security gor tigher with an actually scan code because people are actually using old recipt or something. The self check out machine is so slow and what a piece of crap. I happen to shop at this location a lot. Today the worker who checks the receipts before exiting made me feel uncomfortable. I accidentally missed count an item cause I had so many items in the cart. When she stopped to check the receipt she insinuated that I was stealing. I said "No I'm sorry I can go back and pay for that one item". Mind you it was a CARDBOARD packing box. She has a thick accent so I couldn't really make out what she was saying but I finally put two & two together she called me a liar & a thief. I went back to the register to pay for it she was over my shoulder in my personal space it made me feel uncomfortable. When I paid for it she gave me this look and she watched as I walked out to the parking lot. Walmart needs to teach their employees proper training. read more

Today I went to buy a clothing steamer, when I found it in the aisle the one I wanted was in a glass showcase. I used the button for call for assistance. After a minute or so and no one showed up, I asked 3 different employees for assistance. After around 8 minutes a team leader finally showed up and opened the case for me and another person waiting. I specifically came for the steamer and I wasn't about to leave without it. I'm not giving this rating because the item I wanted was in a showcase, I fully understand why they're used, this rating is solely for their customer service, which was terrible. So many employees everywhere nearby and not a single person has keys? It doesn't seem like customer satisfaction is a priority. read more

Great location! Located close to the freeway in Kapolei. Next to chili's, pandas and kaiser. Lots of parking, front and side of Walmart. There is a McDonald's located inside of Walmart. I love this location because it's close to home. They have a variety of stuff in their store. I like going to their baby section because for some reason they have a lot of items for babies. Walmart has a lot of variety of stuff... from clothing, food, car items, and even toys. You will not be disappointed at all. read more

Do not trust the website. We were looking for something online and it said the store had it in stock. When we got there we were directed back and forth several times to the same two departments, neither of them had it. One department said they didn't have any of that type of product to only talk to the same employee a few minutes later to say they had one much more expensive model and the cheaper one was on aisle such and such in another department. I walked the whole aisle and there wasn't even a label for the product in that aisle. Unfortunately I wasted my wife and I's time looking for something that either wasn't in stock or is in some random part of the store. Will most likely avoid making this mistake and shop elsewhere in the future. read more

This is my go to Walmart, unfortunately. Parking is not an issue, just don't expect to park near the entrance unless you're entering through the garden department. Even with a handicap placard it is difficult. So many people with those in this area. I do shop for clothes here. It is for the most part kept nice and neat but it is far from organized. For example, one area of the shorts are just thrown together. They are not organized in any way, by style or size. It would be nice if it were done by size to make it efficient for customers to look through to find something they might like easier. Checking out can be a chore too. Long lines of course, and short lines don't go as quickly as they should. Then there's the self check which I like going through. Lately, they're not all working. One or two flashing for attention. Just can't seem to win lately. However, Walmart still offers a wide variety of products we use on a regular basis and affordable if not cheap prices. We find ourselves in here at least once a week sometimes more depending on whats's going on. Love the McDonald's where mom can get a snack and rest while I do the shopping. It does get crowded and noisy during peek hours. Sometimes hard to get a seat. Shelves are well stocked. Aisles are clean and clear. Customer service is on point for the pay scale. Nice weekly specials. Conveniently located in Kapolei to everywhere else we like to go. And, right off the freeway. With pluses like that I can overlook the inconveniences for an enjoyable shopping experience. read more

What gets me is, in the app it says they have certain things in stock at this store, you go there and they don't! Wasted trip! Also, the prices shown in APP for this store and actual prices do not match up. And be careful ordering in APP from here. It will show an item is a certain price but when you add it to your cart sometimes it changes..NOT COOL! So pay close attention to that if ordering online from here. I can always find what our clients are requesting including footwear. Not many retail stores offer a variety in size 13 shoes. It can be challenging to find shoes in that size. Walmart has steel toe and non-slip shoes in larger sizes which is also a plus. As for the quality you can not go wrong. You can purchase Walmart brands or name brands such as Dickies and still keep within your budget. Our clients are always happy and feel great when entering the workforce looking sharp. read more

Another Wal-Mart is another Wal-Mart, but this one is HUGE! All 150,000 square feet of it. This newly opened Wal-Mart looks more like a warehouse than a regular store with very high ceilings and sky lights. I could just imagine the cooling costs for this store. It was also warm in there, warmer than usual, and that's probably what made me think of cooling costs. I like the color scheme of the new Wal-Mart; its not your typical blue and yellow Wal-Mart store front; it looks more tropical and fits in with the landscape. The floor is a nice buffed concrete made to look like marble but I could imagine a ton of falls if the floor ever got wet; its very slick. The garden store is very nice with a wonderful selection of plants; my favorite the orchids. The supermarket area has lots and lots of rows of food. One thing my friend noticed which was a plus was a slightly-larger sized parking space...and for Hawaii that's a good thing. It would have been five stars if wasn't so warm inside. read more

This is probably the worst experience I've ever had?! We stopped by the Kapolei Walmart and thought it would have been a quick trip...not today. It's about 545p and we needed some power steering fluid. lol and behold it's locked up?! The sign says to go to see an associate in Sporting goods. There was literally no one in sight. I walked up and down the aisles and could not find anyone. I went out to the garden area to ask if they could page someone. The cashier said ok, but I didn't hear a page for assistance. I ended up at the fabric department and was helped by Irie. I bought some Pellon and she walked with us to get the fluid. We've now been here for 30 minutes and only saw 2 associates on the entire floor one of them being Irie. Mahalo to Irie who was the only associate of yours who could be found to help us and despite having to walk with me then ringing me up was very customer centric. My suggestion...perhaps having available associates roam the floor to assist customers would be beneficial to Walmart, and a benefit to your customers. read more

One of the rare times a Walmart doesn't look like it's built around a country bumpkin neighborhood where the entire parking lot is full of pick-up trucks with rifle racks and rednecks. Nope, this new Walmart has, dare I say, class! My first impression upon entering the sprawling parking lot was, 'someone took the time to consider the mosaic that is Hawaii before building this thing!'. The front roof line is slanted, hut style, with those beautiful ceramic tiles. The facade (sounds French, huh!?) includes large wooden shutters and decorative features that kinda look like traditional Hawaiian tapa cloth. The entire outside of the building is painted in an array of Earth tones, literally allowing it to blend into its scenic background. So far, me likely! Once inside the sprawling store, it looks eerily familiar to the Pearl City store, but somehow, larger. There's a McDonalds right at the entrance, and a Hawaiian Federal Credit Union adjacent to them. Unfortunately, if you're like me and you've gotta use the rest room upon arrival, it's a little bit of a walk past all 26 cash registers. Like Pearl City's store, clothes straight and to the right, food and HBA to the left. The 'new car smell' has worn off a bit after a week's worth of business, but the layout is smart, the stock levels high, and the crowds large. My favorite part of the store is the several aisles of frozen foods. Oh, and they have a full aisle of refrigerated cases of drinks - perfect on the way to the soccer fields or friend's potluck! At the registers, there are three express lanes (20 items or less) and four self-check-out lanes. Of course, all lanes come with the requisite candy options and smut magazines...hey, I finally got to use 'smut' in a sentence! My inner-city college English professor would be so proud! All-in-all, a great new Walmart location where we local folks can pinch a few more pennies before we end up living on the shores of waianae or the curbs of Kaka'ako. I am normally a Walmart regular, but this location has really turned me off! I understand new stores/locations might have a few things here and there that need to be worked on... but this store is just awful! First visit, no one knew what was going on, where to find multiple items I was looking for, and management was no where to be found. I walked up and down aisles looking for an employee in the paint section, after what seemed like 15 of searching, I find a clueless boy. He has no idea how to work the paint mixer and not a clue on finding anyone that does! I walked out with the cheapest spray paint I could find... not helpful at all. Another trip, I decide to make a photo calendar as a gift for my grandma's birthday. After finishing the details at the kiosk and waiting 24hrs for the calendar, I check the envelope and it's placed inside, BENT! Seriously? The employee bends half the photo calendar and leaves it like that to hand to the customer? Goodness... so the employee in the photo dept notices I'm upset and quickly makes a new one! She knows all about customer service, coming from another Walmart location I guess... seems like everyone else in the store was pulled from the street and given a badge though! Most recent visit, I go there to try and price match a few items... I pick out about 5 items or so, take them to the customer service, thinking it's the right place for the job... but... no. I basically waited in line for the employee to tell me I could've done a price match anywhere else and she sent me to the registers! So that time, I waited in line twice! Like really? Everyone loves coming to walmart, so u know it will always be packed. I come here for the photo center which is very convenient. The prices are sooooo good ad of course affordable. The store is clean and organized which I like. They have public restrooms which is nice because I love shopping and when I shop I don't mess around so that is very convenient. The store should have more check in's to restrooms because when it does get busy the restrooms don't look so nice. Food, household appliance, clothes, and garden, etc. I love this place!! Came her around 3ish on a Saturday for 1 item I should have passed this place by. I like to park at the garden shop easy in easy out so that means cashing out at garden shop. And I usually come during the weekday mornings and have no probs and shorter lines. Today the lines was kinda long and moving slowly like 3rd person in line 15 min slow. Well I get to the register w my one item informed the cashier I'm paying w an egift card and she just stares at me so I repeat myself this time saying "I have an electronic gift card on my phone" she looks at me and my phone and tells me 'what do you want me to do w that' so I tell her 'I'd like to pay w a gift card you have to scan the barcode' and she says 'I dont know how to do that' but scans my phone anywayz and then the register prompted for manager override...um hello idk what she did or didnt do on her end but I've bn paying w egift cards for a few yrs now and never had to override anything. So I ask her where's your mgr she replies w 'dont know just have to wait' then I couldn't help it but it just slipped out I said 'well maybe you can tell your mgr to train you on how to process egift cards' and she said 'I dont need training it says 'mgr override'. Well I look behind me and see 5 full carts waiting in her slow line, I was not going to hold up the line for 1 item so I ended up having to pay an alternate way. I just hope my egift card will work next time since she scanned it and all cuz that's my $ down the drain if it doesn't all cuz a cashier doesn't know her job. I never had probs in the morning or at Pearl City Walmart now I know who not to go to to cash out lol. Customer service needs some help. I didn't ask one person for help but 2 people for help. They both gave me the same answer. This is how both conversation went. Me: do u know wheres the shower curtains are? Employees: they're behind the wall Not bad if it was really behind the wall but it wasn't near it. Had to walk 4 more aisles down. Not bad if one of the employee walked with me and happily helped me find it when she still saw me trying to look for it but still she didn't even do nothing. My fan broke this morning and I wanted to go to Wal-Mart specifically for another one. I find a fan that I immediately loved. I take to the cashier and it rings in as $45 something. But the display clearly said $19.38. The cashier calls over a manager who didn't even acknowledge us, walks up to the item to take pics of the item and upc, and walks away. She returns 10 minutes later with 4 pictures, 3 of which were completely unrelated to the fan I wanted. She shows me the $45 sign and I show her the pic I took of the display fan for $19.38 and she responds with an attitude saying, "yeah I don't know where that came from." As if I photoshopped this photo to rip Wal-Mart off for $20. Seriously. My friend who was with me asked, "so we can't get it for the display price?" and she immediately says no. Not no, I'm so sorry. Just no. It would have been fine (well not really considering her attitude) if it was a $5 or $6 difference but it's a full $25. The underage cashier had a better bedside manner than this "manager". Placed an order online that way I could just pick it up & leave to avoid any inconvenience but NO. Went to electrics who just seem to be just standing around doing NOTHING at all when they seen me clearly standing in line. When asked if I needed help I said that I was here for a pickup & she gave me attitude pointing where to go as if I knew what/where she was talking about. Poor customer service from the start. I'm waiting at their pick up area & was asked to wait 5 to 10 mins & it has been now way over that. Will never use this option again. Would not recommend this Walmart at all. Customer service needs A LOT of work on. Lady who checks your receipt at the door was very nice though so I'd give her that one star! Other than that don't expect to be helped here unless you ask more than 3x! In the end a manger had to help me. Was given a $20 coupon off my next purchase. This is a stupid problem that I am receiving from this Walmart. But it's something that should not be unsaid United healthcare gives you healthy food dollars I ordered my stuff online on2/1/2023. Before I go to pick it up I check what I ordered an They put five extra orange juices in my order. I try to cancel it online on the app It won't let me there was a glitch in the system. I Contacts customer service . Explain my problems they told me to just deny the product and I will get a refund instantly so I denied five orange juices out of the 10 The man took it and told me I will be refunded within a day or two Two days went by still no refund . I contacted customer service. I was told something totally different from what the man told me who dropped off my stuff. I contact United healthcare, told them the situation. They got on the phone Contact their customer service and explain the situation United healthcare was told you will be fully refunded within three hours Today's another day still no refund of 20.70 Now this has been going on since the first of this month I go to corporate emailed about my situation- I received the email telling me this- everything I did earlier, and I gotta do again. I strongly feel I should be refunded with interest but most likely I will not an at the rate this is going that $20.70 we'll never hit my healthy food benefit card. Everytime I come here theres no baskets in the front yo, I either have to hunt one down or wait till i see someone at the checkout get done with theirs, Anyways, other than that, its a typical Wal mart, ample parking with ample restaurants in the vicinity. They have a lot of cold drinks in the front but wish they were before the counter, kinda awkward to go to counter tell the cashier to wait (cause you wanna grab cold drink real quick,(i only do this if no one is behind me) then rush and go get it and come back and thers already people in line give you stink eye lol).I guess I could grab it and then go in line but feels kinda backwards dontcha think? read more

This is one of the newer Walmart locations, but it is gross. In the men's clothing area, most of the shelves are pretty bare, and those that are not have packages of underwear torn open and laying all around. Not just a few, either. They either had a rabid pack of lowlifes tear tons of stuff open in multiple aisles today, or the workers assigned to that section just don't care. Passing by the kids clothing and the ladies aisles, you could see torn open stuff on the floors. No workers to be seen anywhere near the clothing sections. Pretty disappointing. read more

They are ready for Halloween. I am one those people that allow stores to tell me what holiday is coming up. Walmart does an exceptional job. An associate walked me all the way to the costume aisle, this was not my usual experience. Thanks! I prefer this Walmart because it has more stuff, more variety. Sometimes they are out-of-stock compared to other locations. The app is helpful. Tells you if other stores have it and if you order online might get it for less too. They seem to rely on self-checkout registers than cashiers. I went early morning when it was slow and didn't mind scanning my own stuff. And their cosmetic aisle isn't converted like other walmart's making life stress free and not claustrophobic. read more

Although, they only had 2 registers open. That was unfortunate but if you just have a few items, the U-Scan machines are plentiful.
