Walmart is Walmart. This location is a full service, that includes groceries, apparel, sporting goods, pharmacy, etc.. This location was organized, clean, and friendly service. Although, they only had 2 registers open. That was unfortunate but if you just have a few items, the U-Scan machines are plentiful. I am solely writing this because of bad experiences with the same cashier every time I go. The Cashier Denise had a lane open I walked towards her lane, she looked at me and put her closed-lane placard down. I went over to the next open lane, and she immediately reopened her lane and processed 4 different customers. I have been pleasant to Denise every time I have gone to Kapolei Walmart. I greet her hello and goodbye and she never says a word. When my total comes up she doesn't say a word I pay and then she hands me my receipt without a word. I am not one to complain about someone not speaking to me but this is what I was going through with Denise before this recent incident with her closing the lane and reopening once I walked away. This was deliberately done so if I was confused about her disdain towards me it has been clearly shown. I officially know and understand for some reason this woman has issues with me. It's not Walmart, it's Super Walmart. Four stars for a Walmart? Hey why not. I needed to return something so I decided to walk around here. My return was fast and the service lady was great. First this place is big. I think you can fit all of last years Pro Bowl stadium fans here. JK. They got it all. I even haven't figured out what to do for thanksgiving and the garden center has the Christmas trees for sale along with the hundreds of ornaments. Plenty of groceries. If you survive the next zombie apocalypse, head here. Remember in 28 days you should be ok. Let's see who gets that last reference? This place rivals Foodland and Times as for food space. And the local swap meet for cloths and little knickknacks. While everyone else was shopping, I went to the toy section with my son. Toys are everywhere meaning it's mix and matched. Transformers in the doll section, nerf guns in the educational section and bouncing balls in the arts and crafts section. Everything was scattered everywhere. There was two employees figuring out where to properly put the toys back. Ooh and I hate going to the restroom at Walmart but this one was clean and I used the family room. The have a small toilet for children. Like the ones you see at the preschools. I would have taken a picture but really it's a toilet. Overall four stars. There's plenty of parking no but it seems like there is only one entrance way when coming from east side. And I wonder if that parking lot gets filled up? Whoever is doing their ordering has gotten better because they would always be out of everything, but now I would say that there is usually an alternative to the item that is sold out. I usually walk down every single isle but not at this location, I want to be in and out asap! This particular Wal-Mart is very disappointing, from the bare shelves to lack of products carried at this location. Lackluster in appearance and feel. The employees aren't very helpful, it feels as though they require more training or just to have management provide some enthusiasm. The store looks vast and I believe it is supposed to be a "super center" but upon entrance you'll see it is not. They should carry more products similar to the Keeaumoku or other locations. This would benefit all the residents on the West side. Honestly, it looks as though, this Wal-Mart receives the unwanted items from the other locations. You don't see half empty chillers anywhere else (sigh). This location could be great, since it is the only one in the "second city". Walmart is....well..it's Walmart. Not much to say since almost everyone knows about Walmart. I like this location since it's literally 5 mins from my house. I no longer have to drive all the way to Kunia...yay! This Walmart seems similar to the one in Pearl City. I'm wondering if the prices are the same as well. I remember a couple of years ago, there was a newspaper article saying the Kunia Walmart was slightly cheaper than the Pearl City one. Some Walmart executive gave some excuse about the Pearl City location being considered urban or city...something like that, can't remember. But yea, there is a def a price difference even though it's the same company. Strange... Anywho, guess I'll write this review for the tourist who come and visit our islands. If you're looking for souvenirs to take back, Walmart is def a lot cheaper than most places. They sell lots of Hawaiian things such as kona coffee, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, t-shirts, aloha shirts and even those tacky hula dolls that people like to stick on their dash boards. When you walk into this location, there is a section to the right that has lots of Hawaiian souvenirs and you can find other things as you walk thru the store. One thing I've noticed is that when you check out, you know how the cashier bags your things in that rotating thingie? Well, almost always (not only at this location) the cashier doesn't hand the bag to you. She just leaves it in that rotating thing and you have to spin it to pick up your items. Not a biggie but there are times when I've seen cashiers running after a customer because they didn't pick up all their bags. Seems it would be more efficient if the cashier just handed it to you. Well, since I'm a brat I always spin that rotating thingie around a few times. Hey, I'm just making sure I've picked up all my bags...yea right....at least that's what I tell the cashier. When I went there today, I did that but wouldn't you know it. I bought a Father's Day card and instead of putting it in the bag, the cashier out it on TOP of the rotating thing. Duh, I didn't think to look there and of course the cashier had to chase me as I walked out the door. read more

Trying not to be partial to the area that I live but this is by far is the BEST Walmart! I've lived in Makakilo for just over a year and I frequent Walmart as I have the other locations at one time or another with limited visits to the Mililani location and overall all are good but the Kapolei location to me is the most spacious inside and out. I maybe wrong if you did the actual square footage but it's possible I feel that way because it never feels crowded or busy and I never get that overwhelming feeling to hurry up and get out. Let's sum it up Location-you can't miss it, near the on and off ramp Parking-huge lot with large stalls (park by the garden) Shelves-stocked and organized Floor-clean Bathroom-clean Staff-easily found and helpful Prices-as usual it's affordable Lines-moves quickly (I check out in the garden area) My only suggestion for change would be the hours. Great and convenient location! Over all, I'm loyal Walmart shopper and I appreciate there competitive and low prices. However, there is one con that I was bummed to learn about earlier today while at the Kapolei location. They do not offer price match. Price match is a great shopper incentive that some retailers offer to their customers. I had recently learned that their competitor (who is also on island) offers price match. If you find an item/product (same exact item/product and brand) that's more cost friendly at their online store or at one of their competitors stores all you'll need to do is show proof and they will honor the price. Awesome right?! If you want in too then here's a hint: I'd suggest you follow the "Red" shopping carts and do a cartwheel. read more

Cheap prices, lots of parking, and fast check out... what is there not to like?! Walmart has grown on me over the years. There used to be a time when you had to drive far away to get to a Walmart because there was none in town. Finally, the Keeaumoku location opened up which made me a fan. Maybe it's because I am part Chinese, but I love a good deal. Walmart is full of good deals! This Walmart has a McDonald's restaurant inside in case you are hungry or get hungry. They also have a hair cutting place, a vision center, and a garden center. I personally haven't tried any of those because I have a favorite barber somewhere else, have a favorite eye doctor somewhere else, and don't do any gardening. When checking out I prefer using the self-checkout. Lines are usually short there and the machines are easy to use and very fast. read more

I was in the neighborhood going home and my husband wanted to look for a butter dish so I told him I'll go in to use the restroom. Well to my surprise it wasnt clean the toilets were out or order and toilet paper liners on the floor seems like they didnt have time to clean the restroom. Well so much of that now going to buy a small case of water the line I guess I was in was so full they have now lots of scan and go registers but I decided to stand in line because I wanted to use my gift card and didnt wanted to use scan and go just in case I run into trouble. The cashier was friendly but I feel they should open more regular lines than just scan and go registers because when customers buy akit of things they have to scan the items themselves and also bag it for the customers it takes a longer time to move the line when the cashier have to do both and only her line plus another one is open. This walmart when they first opened was nice fast but I guess time passes by the store does end up to be less employees to work. read more

Today was a very rainy day and with me being disabled I usually order what I need and then go to pick it up at the pick up area on the side of Walmart. Because of my injury I blew my back out, have no balance , a torn left knee, and I frequently fall even while using my cane so that is why it's safer for me to just place an order and pick it up. I received my confirmation from Walmart saying my order was ready to be picked up so I drove over parked in the pick up stall and called the number on the sign . When the female associate answered I told her I was outside waiting for my order she told me that the pick up area was closed and I had to walk in to customer service to receive my order. So I drove to the front of the store parked in the handicap stall and hobbled my way into the store to customer service . Now everyone knows who goes to their customer service area how slow they do things there . I waited 20 minutes waiting for help and I was starting to feel the pain in my back getting sore so I asked another associate who walked in there to help get my order as she was ready to walk back out of the customer service area . She was nice enough to help me so she called the same number everyone has to call that I called 25 minutes before I had to walk in to the store to have them to bring my order to the front. Another 7 minutes pass then finally I got my order. But now I was already in pain my knee was starting to buckle and trying to carry the bags back to the car was just the worst. I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be doing pick up orders with Walmart anymore. Todays pick up order was just the worst and hopefully anyone who has a disability like me gets a chance to read this review and not make the same mistake I did. read more

While I prefer Target, I couldn't resist visiting this brand new Walmart. Wonderful! This one is extra special because it includes groceries (produce and freezer/refrigerated items). LOVE IT! Aisles are spacious, parking plentiful and restrooms clean. They have an enormous garden center that has outdoor furniture as well. When I need to go to Wal-mart, I'll drive from town to go to this location - steer clear of the Keeaumoku one - filthy and crowded. It's Walmart! Location/Parking: Walmart is located off Farrington Highway near the Freeway entrance/exist. There is an abundance of parking. Merchandise: It has just about everything you can think of from cleaning supplies, baby necessities, electronics, groceries and etc. Prices: Prices are great!!! You will find the cheapest price here compared to its rivals. Bathroom: One of the bathrooms are always either closed or really filthy. Cashiers: There is always at least 3 cashiers working and the self checkout is usually available. Overall, I do come to this Walmart more often than the Kunia Walmart because it's convenient, new and spacious. read more

I purchased 4 panels of this Curtain at the Wal-Mart in Kapolei, hi. I did not have a receipt. I was asking gor store credit to go purchase more stuff in the store.. The store Supervisor on duty named"Katie" STATED... no reciept no return.. no credit.. only an even exchange for the samething is allowed. I told her i don't need curtains... i need a curtain rod.. she stated No. I could not do that without a reciept. Mind you the items I am taking are in its orginal package never opened or used purchased on 29Jan2018. I presented my cc that i used to purchade it with.. and my i.d. and still she stated no. When i asked her to show me and give me a copy of the return policy she stated she could not due to she has no copy machine in the store. She then told me to go online to get the policy.. so i pulled it up on the wal-mart web site.. and nowhere does it state what she told me...i asked her to read it.. and she told me that it was not updated in the website.. Here is the policy Generally, merchandise purchased in store or on Walmart.com can be returned or exchanged within ninety (90) days of purchase with or without a receipt. The Walmart in Kapolei finally opened its doors this morning and people were ready to shop! Both the store and the parking lot are pretty big. Both were pretty packed this afternoon when I dropped by. Even the McDonald's in the store was busy. While the store is open 24 hours, departments such as photo, pharmacy, optical have standard business hours. The grocery section seems to be bigger in this particular store (although I couldn't seem to find any puff pastry in the frozen section). There is a decent ethnic aisle with enough basic Asian groceries to maybe save me a trip to Pacific Market. For the baker's, there is a cake decorating aisle, which has different fondant stencils, cake boards, and cake pans. The electronics section is a good size, but I opted to skip it due to the crowd. I also really liked the gardening section. The gardening pots are economical and there is a good variety in sizes and colors to choose from. Don't forget to browse the plants on sale. I was tempted to take home an eggplant and a strawberry plant...but then I remembered that I am a hopeless gardener so they stayed safely in the store :p I like this store. It is clean, well stocked, and the employees are helpful and friendly. I just hope the crowd dies down after a while because navigating the store with a cart was a bit of a pain. read more

This Walmart deserve a BIG WHOOPING NEGATIVE STARS My all time experience here was really great until today. I am disappointed at this manager named Hazel! She was utterly rude, and unprofessional!!! I know Walmart don't always have the best customer service but never had any bad experience except today. So basically what happened is that we wanted to see if there's a way to do a price check or at least a honor for the misprinting of a price tag, the sales rep who helped was wonderful and helpful, she pretty much did her best to see the situation and for a solution. When she couldn't, she needed to do an override and was needing a manager. First of all, the managers on duty that time looked like they were just playing around, the atmosphere was dead and they just kept laughing by the POV camera viewers looking like they are making fun of certain customers in store. Second, she made her sales rep to hold back and wait to look for another manager for an approval. WHICH IS RUDE!!! IM REALLY PISSED AT THIS POINT! She walked away onto helping us and made us wait for more time as the lines get longer. I am also a sales rep, it is rude to not help a customer for no reason. Treat everyone equal and be professional. THIS "MANAGER" HAZEL OF YOURS IS BULLS*** AND NEED TO BE PUT INTO POSITION HOLD, REPRIMANDED, AND PUT IN PROBATION UNTIL SHE CAN BE PROFESSIONAL. Who doesn't love Walmart. Like every other location it has the same features as any other Walmart But being as this is one of the newer Walmart on the island it is kept very clean! It kept asking me to add my method of payment information and then when I pressed "place order" it said "technical issues, try again later!". I didn't want to lose my order of 14 different groceries so I kept trying for 45 minutes and then gave up. This was my first time trying at Walmart in Kapolei, Hawaii and I was so disappointed. This Walmart gets 3 STARS because I'll always love Walmart BUT this Walmart DOES NOT have enough employees ON STAFF who are trained to mix paint. This is the 2nd time I've come to this Walmart where there are NO STAFF that is available to mix paint. The 1st time I requested for paint the person who was trained to mix paint was on their break (which I can understand). We were told that the person would be out in 5 mins, which we waited 15 mins, then left because of frustration. How can you tell a customer that someone will be out in 5 minutes when it's PAST the 5 minute mark?! Unbelievable. So now we've come here again to get more paint & the staff here DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO MIX PAINT & they're figuring it out as I type this. It's been 10 minutes & they're still figuring out how to mix the paint. FAIL. My bf & I suggested to come back another time when the actual trained associate is actually working. Just wasted 15 minutes waiting for them to figure it out. Next time I'm gonna call to make sure the right TRAINED associate is on staff before coming. read more
