Terrible, thoughtless cashier taking two walmart credit card applications while a long line of customers grows and are waiting so by the time these people were finished with their apps, which by the way, were not accepted because they lacked proper id's, a customer behind me said her frozen products had thawed while waiting in line. You have a customer service where you can apply for credit so why would you hold up a line for 15 minutes while you take applications? Absolutely absurd. I guess you must get a commission. Regardless of your illogical answer i won't be back and I am certain it wont matter to you because of the billions you receive but good customer service should be your priority and in this instant it certainly showed to me at least, that it is not! read more

After what I went through this weekend, I decided that Walmart has lost my business. First, a little information about me as a consumer: I am honest and have high integrity in myself. I worked in different retail stores over the years, so I know what happens to employees if their till is short and I also know what it's like to be yelled at from irate customers. If an associate gives me back too much change, I hand it right back. I don't return items even if it doesn't work out for me; I end up giving stuff away to people who I would think need it more than me. So here's my story... I purchased a battery for my truck back in February 2010. This past Sunday, it finally died so we took it into this Walmart since the battery was under a 3 year warranty. We didn't have a receipt, but the "customer service" associate (I use that term lightly) looked up our purchase with the serial number on the battery. When she pulled it up, the computer showed that our battery warranty had a 2 year warranty, so we were out of the time frame. She tested the battery, resulting in a dead battery, and printed out the results. The front of the battery clearly shows "3-year warranty" so she told us to grab a battery upstairs so we can swap it out. Here's a little side note about this "customer service" associate: A couple months ago, my husband and I were purchasing baby formula, and we had coupons that the manufacture sent us. The associate explained to us that we couldn't use all the coupons at once, and we can only use one coupon for the entire purchase. She also added that we could get the formula for free. When I asked her how, she stated, "Apply for WIC and don't tell them that you two live together." Hmm... so I let her know that we live together because we're married. SO back to the battery fiasco. While we were browsing upstairs, a different "customer service" associate came looking for us to let us know that there was an issue with our battery. She stated that our serial number sticker had been tampered with, and they can't swap out the battery. She brought us back down to customer service to show us that part of the UPC barcode had been lifted off of the battery. She said, "I'm not saying you folks tampered with it, but it has clearly been tampered with." The part of the sticker she was referring to had debree under it, like a band aid that someone's been wearing for a week. That was the only part of the sticker that was no longer sticking to the battery. My husband lifted more of the sticker to show her that the sticker has never been removed, but she didn't want to believe us, so we asked to speak to a "manager" (again, using this term lightly). When the manager came over, the associate explained the situation to him and let him know that the computer shows the warranty was expired. He let us know that the battery couldn't be swapped out, explaining to us everything that she told him, while standing in front of us. He didn't know what was going on, didn't ask us questions, didn't inspect the sticker -just went off what she said. My husband explained to the manager that we have years of retail customer service so we know how the system works. Things happen, exceptions can be made. When I asked him why we couldn't return the battery, he said that the computer system wouldn't let him. When I asked what he could do, he said that he couldn't do anything. When I asked him what he was going to do, he said, "You need to go back to the store you originally purchased it. We're not going to eat the cost here." I'm pretty sure that managers shouldn't say those things to customers. Sounds like poor ethics to me. He didn't listen to anything we were trying to say, and ended up telling us that they weren't going to "eat the cost" of an $80 battery that was still under warranty. Before going to the original purchasing store, I asked the associate to call them to let them know we were on our way over. I overheard her tell the associate on the phone, "Yeah, they ripped off the serial number sticker" to which I corrected her (while she was still on the phone) to ensure the 3rd party could hear me. I have never had such horrible service in my entire life. I will never go back to that store because of the bad experience that we had. For them to question my integrity as a customer is such a slap in the face. Why don't they question the integrity of their employees, who talk about cheating the government? read more

I know Walmart has a bad reputation, but this is one of the better locations. When we order anything online, this is the store we set up as the pick up location even though the one on College is closest. The staff here are more attentive and it never takes more than 5 mins for them to assist. We never have trouble finding parking and for the most part, everything is stocked up. I do notice they carry less products, but it's also a cleaner location and it isn't a pain to check out as they have more lines open. read more

I hate Wal-Mart... nay, I loathe Wal-Mart. However, there are still those rare occasions when you need new pants, paint supplies, animal crackers, rope, duct tape and a shovel at like 2 o'clock in the morning. That's when, you find yourself at this Wal-Mart, only because it happens to be open 24 hours. In those circumstances, it's a loathe/hate type of relationship. I still hate it, but it does come through in the clutch, so I don't loathe it as much. You can find all sorts of unsavory characters here at all times of the day (panhandlers, dude selling his rap cd's, unfit parents with wild kids), but it gets even worse late at night. Even the Wal-Mart employees act like they hate being there as much as I do. Navigating the aisles is tough during the day, but it's even worse at night with the aisles are all blocked off by crates and palates and stuff. And the parking lot... don't even get me started on that. I guess there are some worse places to get your shopping done, but there are about a million better places. I try to avoid all Wal-Marts as much as possible. If only there was a 24 hour Target. read more

Because common sense would dictate that people acting as their own checkers would not, in and of itself, be "too much trouble," I suspect that means there was a marked increase in shoplifting, something I have suspected all along with self-check outs. I feel a little silly writing a review for a Walmart, but this one actually stands out in my mind as being one of the worst Walmarts that I've experienced. Yes, it gets pretty dirty. Yes, it gets pretty dingy. But the thing that takes the cake for me is the fact that they never have enough registers open. Despite the fact that there are two checkout areas, every time I have ever been to that Walmart, only a third of the registers have been open and none of them is ever an express checkout. This turns into a form of purgatory when you throw in the fact that they have changed their hours. They are no longer open 24 hours and they close sometime around midnight or so. I had to pick up some last minute items for a party one night and slipped in there around 11. Not only could I not find what I was looking for, but once I did find my items, There were three registers open and a line reaching all the way to the back of the store. I had two items and none of those registers were express checkout. I think that I finally got out of there at 12:30 or something like that because I remember that I was just barely able to run to the store to get some things that I couldn't find at Walmart before they closed. The management should understand that they're going to be rushed at closing and put more people on registers. I thought maybe that was just a problem that only occurs at 11, but it truly isn't. I literally just got home from picking up cat litter and ribbon from this Walmart. I stood in line for 45 minutes with two items behind 5 people that had cartfuls of stuff. The kicker is that the cashiers seemed to have problems scanning over half of all the items in the carts. I definitely prefer to just go across the mall to Target. read more

Normally... I like Wal-Mart. I do! Cheap prices and they usually have anything I could ever need. This one is just terrible though. I've been stuck in this dumbass store more than once just waiting around, wasting my life. First off, I go here one night for a video game to see if I can pick it up when it is released at midnight. They don't really know what I'm talking about so they have me wait around to check, and about an hour later (1am) they tell me they don't know and to just try back tomorrow. Wow! Thanks for wasting my life! We just went to the Wal-Mart in Santee and WHADDAYAKNOW?! they had it right there in the box and knew what we were talking about. We go to this location again to print some photos. There is a little kiosk with a sign that says "No 1-Hour service available." No sweat. We'll just check the receipt and see when we should pick it up, and come back later, or tomorrow, or whenever. The receipt gives us a time a little more than an hour later. Okay, so maybe it'll be sooner than we thought! So we walk around like idiots for an hour with our thumbs in our asses ONCE AGAIN. We go back to the lady at the counter and... Lady: "Oh, these aren't ready, didn't you see the sign?" Us: "Well... sure we saw the sign. When will they be ready then?" Lady: "Uh, we don't... have our chemicals... so... we don't know." Us: "Days? Weeks?" Lady: "We're not sure. We have to wait for our chemicals." Us: "O...k... well, how do we know when to pick them up?" Lady at counter: "We'll call you." Us: "Wow, nevermind, can we just cancel the order?" Lady: "No sorry." Us: "Alright... well what do we do?" Lady: "Just don't pick them up." WOW I can't wait to get the phone call that my photos are ready and get harassed when I don't pick them up. It was nice having to put back the photo album because we didn't need it anymore. Never before did I have a problem from the online pickup at this store until Monday 2.6.17 About 8 am checked in on kiosk went upstairs and waited the only person that went by me twice was a lady named dawn and very rude After she was leaving the area she says it's not open til 9. I said I was told someone is always here and can get the item she said dint u understand it's not ope til 9. I then asked if the store manger is around she said nope he's off today no one can help u.. I was really. She said maybe someone down there can help u? She pointed yo electronics I went to electronics the Mgr of that Dept said no problem brought another girl who she was training and showed her how to get my item Could not believe how rude dawn was and working a customer service and its was only 8 am. Pros: Close to my home at the time. Cons: Takes forever to get through the check out lines. Cashiers don't know how to do a price override without talking to a manager first. Electronics cashiers too busy, and not enough of them to actually unlock items when the customers need it. There were 5 people in line, and 1 associate taking care of Electronics. Customer service line takes forever and they have it seriously understaffed for the amount of customers waiting for returns. Rude managers unwilling to return items that were bought online and returned the same day they were received. read more

Love my local Walmart! Although today was a little bit trying, I was in the makeup department and trying to get some nail files and they were locked up by a magnetic lock and there was nobody in the area to unlock it. There was a couple other ladies that dept. that wanted purchase items that were locked up as well. So I asked two different associates that were wearing Walmart vests for help, turns out they were just "shoppers" doing the online shopping thing for Walmart. They didn't have keys or "walkies" to communicate to another associate to get one. So I left the area disappointed/upset. Luckily I ran into the actual store manager and told him and he immediately sent someone over to unlock my 5.12$ nail file. My advice would be to arm everyone with the ability to unlock these magnetic merchandise locks like every day associate, shopper associate, and the general store manager should have one as well thank you love, Walmart. read more

Lousy store typical of a monopoply chain store like Walmart. The only good thing about Walmart and I mean the ONLY good thing is of course the prices. Purple can be bought, just look at Walmart customers. Walmart gets its lower prices off the backs of their employees by not paying them very well and giving them only part time hours and by putting other small and large businesses out of business. Walmart sells a lot of junk products that last a week before they break, the products on pallets in the aisles is way beyond rediculous and why patrons put up with this is beyond me. I can't believe the fire marshal allows the aisles to be over stuffed like they are but I'm sure some special law was passed in recent years to accomodate Walmarts demands to cram products in every square inch of their stores including the aisles. On hot days this Walmart is well known to not turn on the AC system but will lie and tell you the AC units are ALL broken! Sure they are! The escalators are always jamming up and broken down at this location! The long lines are very unbelievably slow. And now Walmart added self serve check outs, right on Walmart! You would get rid of all your employees if you could wouldn't you?! Parking isn't good either. I don't blame employees for having less than professional attitudes, they get treated like garbage and don't make much money not to mention most employees can't get 40 hours a week so tax payers pick up the health insurance costs. Thank you Walmart! Pure and simple... You suck big time on many different levels Walmart! Of course if government were doing their jobs and not being paid off with lobbyists they would find companies like Walmart are nothing less than huge monopolies causing employees to work for slave wages, this is happening world wide with monopolies like Walmart and Walmart leading the way. At least Walmart pays and rewards some of its employees and associates very well, these favored employees live very prestigious lives and have the best of everything. Yet another review of this corporate so-called conglomerate called Walmart. I will have to rank this Walmart a little higher. I kind of like the two-story layout with the shopping cart escalator. Kind of neat. Everything is more spread out at this location and the crowd is not as ghetto as the Walmart in College Grove. They have two checkout areas. One is near the garden center and the main one at the entrance. The lines were not too long due to the two checkout areas so that helps. This is probably one of the biggest Walmarts in the county, but it still lacks a Meat and Bakery department though. read more

For my fellow couponers, this is NOT the place to go. As soon as there is a sale, the "shelf clearers" get there and take everything! And they take forever to restock. I've also had trouble with some of the cashiers. They seem to make up their own coupon policy rules. I even had to call corporate cause they would not allow me to use one of my coupons. The assistant manager of the store called me back and told me that if I ever had trouble, just to contact him. I went in a few hours later and of course the cashier denied my coupon, telling me that I had to get the product that was pictured on the coupon. I had them to talk to the assistant manager and everything was cleared up. The cashier was not happy about that. I'd rather go to Target, which is in the same shopping mall as this Walmart. They are always well stocked, clean, orderly, and nice cashiers. read more

I'm keeping this review short and simple. I'm rating this location a 2 star. An extra star only because it's near by home. During the evening (usually the time I like to stop in) I've noticed that the staff members here are normally quite rude, unhelpful, and inattentive. They barely acknowledge you and if they do, they act like they don't wanna be bothered by any questions you might have for them. It's about 5 mins Til 10. I came in tonight to return an item. As I walked towards the returns, the woman behind the counter barked. "I'm closed." And leaves from behind the counter. How's that for customer service! I give it three stars because: -it is open 24hrs so you can buy crap you don't need at all times of the day. BUT if you go later in the night, be warned that all the aisles are full of pallets and workers trying to restock everything. kind of a circus -it is pretty big but when i go there, usually everything is everywhere so that makes it harder to find something you want. -the workers are ok. but being able to work at walmart and still grin at customers at the register in itself is a miracle. i applaud them. -it is 100 times better than the one I go to on college next to the 94. that walmart is full of the shadiest people i've ever seen at one place and half of the older men are probably registered sex offenders by the way they holler at young girls...yeah...avoid THAT walmart. this place looks like bloomingdales compared to that place. read more

This is for the photo department: I despise going to WalMart due to the people it attracts, especially with it being 24 hours there are some winners walking the aisles. On a desperate mission to print out some photos for a work-related project and Target machines closed down, 24 hour WalMart was my only hopes in sight. The older man working in the photo department was very kind and helped explain to me that my flash drive may not quite fit inside their photo machines and showed me a special trick to solve the problem and added that if I had any troubles to come get him and he'd help me out. He kind of reminded me of the movie, One Hour Photo's "Sy The Photo Guy", friendly but slightly odd. My photos were printed quick as a button and only cost me around 5 bucks for about 23 pictures. I know it seems lame to review a Wal-mart, but if I ever have to go to one, this is the one I go to. Even though La Mesa has higher sales tax! This Walmart is clean! It is shocking. You walk in and think "am I really in Walmart?" And then you see all the cheesy branding and you know you are. I'm just amazed. Plus, Grossmont shopping center is a good place for errand running. I talked to the manager today. He called my house. He explained that he took care of the pricing problem and he was truly sorry. I accept that and I must admit it was more than I expected. Thanks! AGAIN! Don't ask me why I went there...Target didn't have what I wanted so I thought, "What the heck." WRONG! I love Walmart and cannot understand why this one is so snotty. The management is snotty, the cashiers are snotty, the workers are snotty....Today the cashier that I had wanted to go on break so she had her closed sign up and yet she invited me over to cash me out. This is probably one of the most terrible walmarts' I have ever been in. I went in with my sister-in-law to get paint; it took them over 15 minutes to get someone over to help us, the girl they sent was ridiculously incompetent. She barely knew what she was doing and told us she was unable to mix us the paint we needed (I knew this to be untrue since I had recently done it at a different Walmart with no issues). When I informed her of this she struck an incredible attitude with me. We ended up leaving. We returned the next day, and asked for a different (competent) employee, it still took them over 15 minutes to find us one. She was slightly better though the process took way too long and she still had to attempt it more than once to get it right. Paint incident aside, the Walmart is dingy and the managers/employees disinterested in helping customers. The stock isn't great and the customer service is dismal at best. If you can, go to a different location. read more

Once in a blue moon will I receive assistance from this particular Walmart. Today was no exception to the rule. Normally I go to the self-serve scanner to purchase my items but i was buying 30 items so thought it might be faster to use a cashier. The cashier I had today at the very center register at the front of the store was thoughtful about putting items in bags/the cart but as soon as I had additional questions it was either no or I don't know. Pretty disappointing. The only reason I give this store 2 stars is because there was a young man earlier this week that was exceptionally helpful! It was after 6pm up on the 2nd floor. I had my 16 month old with me and I was looking for a specific blue tooth speaker. I saw this employee wandering around, and instead of turning and walking away to avoid working like most of the employees here do, he stopped to assist. The entire time he was super patient with me. In the end, I went with a different speaker since the one I was looking for was sold out and he even matched the online price for me. Great employee! His coworkers should take notes. read more

This location is by far the worst location I had an online order I ordered it on Wednesday I didn't make it Thursday they were closed and so I came 1st thing in the morning and I pressed on my app I'm on my way came over here and they canceled my order and this has happened 2 or 3 times before at this location I spoke to brandy who is the supervisor supposedly and at 1st she said she was gonna look into it and figure it out and then one of her associates was walking outside asking for my name not sure why for Heard to tell me I ordered it on Tuesday and I should have been here by Wednesday and that's why they Canceled the order and that is not what happened I ordered on Wednesday because then the manager decided to walk out with her employee very rudely and start screaming at me at the front door which you can clearly see on camera probably Then when I was trying to speak to her turn around and left with her associate and this is supposedly the manager I'm a manager And I would never treat a customer that way or speak to a customer that way videos need to be reviewed and this lady brandy needs some kind of consequence for her action read more

Two levels seem to separate out the crowds a bit. Plus the cart escalator thingy is super cool. It's the little things. Speaking of the little things, the bi level isn't the only awesome feature of this walmart. They have TWO separate cashier areas at either end of the downstairs. This makes it so you aren't spending your day in line. The garden center here is huge and carries more then your average walmart. read more

No one likes going to Walmart! It also doesn't help when the staff is less than helpful!!!! What is the point in having someone watch over the self-checkout area if they can't do a darn thing to help you??? There are no signs telling you what to do with your coupons or that someone needs to look at them before you feed them into the coupon slot. As I was ringing up my items and scanning my coupons I would place them in the coupon slot. It wasn't until the I finished ringing up my items that I realized that at least 3 of my coupons did not ring up. When I asked for assistance from the clerk, he just stared at me and told me that there is nothing he could do. He couldn't open up the coupon area to get the coupons, he said he didn't have the keys, and he also did not offer to see if a manager was near to help. What a waste!!!! I like this Walmart okay. I like that it is cleaner and better organized than the one in College Grove, I like that the cashiers are always very friendly, I like that it's open late. Even the people who shop at this one seem nicer and more courteous. The grocery section is very unimpressive, but it serves it's purpose. If you need a can of veggies, carton of eggs, loaf of bread, or some chips and happen to be at this Walmart and don't feel like stopping at the grocery store, it'll get the job done. read more
