    Walmart Supercenter, Carson City

Consistent with the Walmart brand meaning that the further you get from Bentonville, the less quality you can expect. At this location, it started with the cart corrals being nearly full and some trash in the parking lot. Inside, some items were out of stock and the shelves clearly weren't leveled. I found the snacks I needed for the van and only had a medium wait to ring up my own purchases at a self-checkout. Like many stores, they're increasingly moving away from registers with an associate and instead these "Scan and go" stations. Restrooms were in need of attention but not terrible. Some hand towels on the floor and the bin was nearly full. Water on the counters, too. I've seen better. I've seen a lot worse. https://www.yelp.com/collection/iEN80LJSkej5A7UvndopUw/World-of-Wallys This is my first Walmart in Nevada! [Review 17687 overall - 33 in Nevada - 1208 of 2022.]

I bring my glasses here 4 times a year for tightening and adjusting. They're happy to do it at no charge. Occasionally, they have a nice sale on frames or other accessories. A friend even turned me on to their eyeglass cleaning cloths. Incredibly cheap and they do a great job. PRO TIP: Keep a close eye on prices. We began noticing almost two years ago that the price on the shelf isn't always the price at the register. Conservatively speaking about twenty times, so far. As a result, we never buy more than two dozen items per visit and we photograph the price listed on the shelf. We usually have one mistake to rectify. I'm really curious how many hundreds of thousands were invested in redesigning the front end of the store. They quadrupled the number of self scan units and I don't see very many people use them. I laugh my ass off each time we come in. I bet that money could have been spent differently. In a more humane fashion? Unless the line is tremendously long, I just go through the cashier lane, anyway. This is still an essential place for last minute items, middle of the night items and of course low cost items. We grocery shop the sale stuff, look at seasonal clothes and head to the electronics area to find reduced bluRay movies that we'll never ever watch. 11/19

Just wondering why the employees (most of them) were not wearing any protective gear? Common Walmart, you can do better than that!!

Maria, Marry, and Mimi are absolutely brilliant, courteous, and highly efficient. They have endured prolonged corporate restructuring, changes to the entire floor plan, loss of some of their best (RIP Trevis) and not reflected in any reviews. Their incredibly knowledgeable team operates with stellar performance that people completely take for granted, never mind a few peevish one-star reviews which bear no relation whatsoever to the professionalism benefiting the Carson community. These outstanding individuals assist hundreds of people every week and simply don't get enough credit for how much they have done right, making the difference nobody sees-- they are like front-end phantoms you might not even notice on a busy day- which seems to be every day! They have a working knowledge of every single product being sold, and where to find it. I have even been met at the register someone handing me the very product I couldn't even pronounce correctly to find that someone had gone out of their way to make sure I found what I needed and handed it to me while I was already in checkout! This is to set the review section straight, and you can ignore all peevish, resentful reviews bearing no reflection of what this great team has done to improve this location over the years!

I simply turned my cart around and spent the extra 10 minutes scanning and bagging my own stuff through the tedious self checkout system at Smith's. Sandra, you work in customer service. However, I had a hard time with getting anyone to help me get the cake at the cake department. There were 3 people working, all three would look at me and not help me. But eventually they did find it... seemed a bit disorganized. Also, I went to buy the rest of my groceries for the party and bought three bottles of cranberry juice. Once I got home, I realized they were three months expired. Yikes. I threw them out.

Now I just go there when I have 1 or 2 things to grab. Well let me tell you about that.... First the bagels were marked as buy one get one. As I have found many times, they were not. Unfortunately I was distracted at the checkout and didn't notice. I get home and wrote that off. Yesterday I opened the syrup I bought to find the seal broken. Like all the way. Today I go to cook the taco meat to make some fajitas. I put it in the pan and find out it wasn't cut all the way through and they left the membrane in the bottom. Not only are you getting price gouged, but the quality is garbage. Garbage for sales, garbage for quality products and the meat department is garbage. I'll never go there again. I don't care if I have to drive an extra 10 minutes. This place sucks. It'll probably close soon just like the other one.

US Foods CHEF'STORE is a bit Costco, a bit Smart & Final, and a bit Aldi. This place would supplement a grocery run, especially if you were planning a large family gathering. Their direct to consumer model probably fits more towards restaurants, including supplies like pizza boxes. I found prices to be reasonable, the perishables to be fresh, and with good selections in places like coffee syrups. Gayle and I will continue to shop Raley's as our main grocery store and with small item supplements at Trader Joes. But for the larger guest feeds, we'll be back.

US Foods, Chef store, as an overall company model is a net benefit to any community. If you think about it, the big players in hospitality have supply chain and distribution all figured out. US Foods supports the small independent businesses which are the backbone of the economy. Every business requires a level of proactivity and organization to be successful, but when it comes to having something ready to go in that last-minute pinch, US Foods solves many needs. If planned properly, with the "click and carry" option, everything can be ordered ahead for the week and picked up in one load. Prices are better than delivery overall. Many shelf stable items are on sale frequently and can be stock piled. Using US Foods chef store, and other direct to consumer stores for our supply chain during these pivotal years has allowed us to stockpile win, able, and order fewer items more often as necessary. Rough estimates for the five-year savings of using this method is close to $350,000. From 2021 to 2026. As compared to ordering from Sysco, US Foods direct, Chef's Warehouse, Bakemark, etc. While distribution companies are also extremely important for the private operator, the US Foods Chef store direct to consumer model requires no minimum, no surcharge, and allows for an individual operator to order as much or as little as needed. This morning I purchased a click and Karie order from the Carson City US Foods Chef store. I ordered it for Tuesday, but was told it wouldn't be until Friday. They communicated well and I had planned for the delay. I called them on Friday to verify that it had arrived, then went in on Saturday morning, super early to pick it up. Three people thanked me for my business. They each made me feel respected and appreciated. I'm happy to give them the business! Well, done, Team!
