    Walmart Supercenter, Carson City

Consistent with the Walmart brand meaning that the further you get from Bentonville, the less quality you can expect. At this location, it started with the cart corrals being nearly full and some trash in the parking lot. Inside, some items were out of stock and the shelves clearly weren't leveled. I found the snacks I needed for the van and only had a medium wait to ring up my own purchases at a self-checkout. Like many stores, they're increasingly moving away from registers with an associate and instead these "Scan and go" stations. Restrooms were in need of attention but not terrible. Some hand towels on the floor and the bin was nearly full. Water on the counters, too. I've seen better. I've seen a lot worse. https://www.yelp.com/collection/iEN80LJSkej5A7UvndopUw/World-of-Wallys This is my first Walmart in Nevada! [Review 17687 overall - 33 in Nevada - 1208 of 2022.]

I bring my glasses here 4 times a year for tightening and adjusting. They're happy to do it at no charge. Occasionally, they have a nice sale on frames or other accessories. A friend even turned me on to their eyeglass cleaning cloths. Incredibly cheap and they do a great job. PRO TIP: Keep a close eye on prices. We began noticing almost two years ago that the price on the shelf isn't always the price at the register. Conservatively speaking about twenty times, so far. As a result, we never buy more than two dozen items per visit and we photograph the price listed on the shelf. We usually have one mistake to rectify. I'm really curious how many hundreds of thousands were invested in redesigning the front end of the store. They quadrupled the number of self scan units and I don't see very many people use them. I laugh my ass off each time we come in. I bet that money could have been spent differently. In a more humane fashion? Unless the line is tremendously long, I just go through the cashier lane, anyway. This is still an essential place for last minute items, middle of the night items and of course low cost items. We grocery shop the sale stuff, look at seasonal clothes and head to the electronics area to find reduced bluRay movies that we'll never ever watch. 11/19

Just wondering why the employees (most of them) were not wearing any protective gear? Common Walmart, you can do better than that!!

It's incredibly strange I lost my charging cable when I had locked it inside my Pacsafe hip bag while flying . . . Hmmmm~ Weird. Anyway, I bought an upgraded, ten-foot, lightning, charging cable. The charging cable is more heavy-duty, thicker; it's black, wrapped with the same material as an industrial, extension cord verses the charging cable I lost was wrapped in some sort of corded, cotton cloth, flimsy material. Moreover, I can never find a ten-foot lightning charging cable in Placerville, Sacramento, Roseville, Rancho Cordova or any of the Bay Area Big Lots Stores: Oddly, this Big Lots Store has a plethora of items I have YET seen in other Big Lots Stores' inventory.

Most anything you can think of retail is tucked away in one of the aisles. The prices are pretty good and the folks are all super nice. Very professional. That's all you can expect. The rest is gravy. This is where we get our phone chargers, shampoos, paper goods and spaghettios for the grand kids. They have furniture, bedding (including the mattress and box) and plenty of seasonal stuff. Today I found one of those sugar dispensers that you find in restaurants. Only $3. I've already used it twice. We're headed east for some R&R. I stop here and load up on big bags of candy to drop on unsuspecting grandchildren. 1/20

I went to this plaza Saturday, March 23, 2019 to visit Walmart, Trader Joe's, and Del Taco; and…read morehave also been here many other times in the past four plus years. It is located right past Bodines Casino and Fuji Park, just past the Carson City limit on US Route 395 going south. It is technically in Douglas County, but has a Carson City postal address, as it is served by that post office. It has one entrance on Warehouse Way (off of US Route 395,) two entrances on Topsy Lane, and a back entrance on Vista Grande Boulevard (by Costco). It is also right next to Carson Valley Plaza to the south, on Topsy Lane. I love this plaza, as it has many useful stores and not filled with "riffraff' like the other Walmart plaza is in north Carson City on Retail Drive. The Walmart is open 24/7 and is a Supercenter with a Tire & Lube Express and Garden Center. There is also a Trader Joe's, which I frequent often. I used to go to King Buffet there (a Chinese restaurant), but now not really. Store here include: Absolute Dental BlueZone Bikes BlueZone Sports Carson City Orthodontics Carson Nails Chili's Grill & Bar chiropractor's office?? Clear Creek Dental Cost Cutters [hair] Del Taco Dollar Loan Center El Dorado Savings Bank Eagle Vision Goodwill Donation Xpress H&R Block Jackson Hewitt Tax Service (inside Walmart) Jiffy Lube King Buffet Little Caesar's Express (inside Walmart) Nathan's Famous (inside Walmart) National Vision Center/Walmart Vision & Glasses (inside Walmart) RAC Rent-A-Center SmartStyle Hair Salon (inside Walmart) Sprint Subway T-Mobile The Clinic at Walmart (inside Walmart) Trader Joe's Walmart (Supercenter) There also was a Five Guys here, but they just closed on or around February 28, sadly. This shopping center also allows unlimited RV camping. I have seen RV's and vans and even cars camping there for weeks on end, even fifth wheels and travel trailers left there unhooked. Will I see truck slide-in campers left there sans truck?? [Note: overnight camping is not allowed at the other Walmart in north Carson City on Retail Lane.] There is plenty of parking space for all stores, and the plaza seems to be well maintained and clean. You can get around any traffic by using the back entrance and taking Vista Grande Boulevard. I use this way a lot, especially since I go to the Costco near there a lot. But, as this is Carson City, there is not too much traffic. My only complaint is, if you use the back entrance of Vista Grande Boulevard, behind Walmart, and go north around Walmart past the loading dock, the lane is really narrow and you cannot see cars coming the other way, especially since there are cardboard recycling loads and a building pole there. So you have to be very careful. It is also not well lit there.

They sell them in bags of 8 now, instead of requiring you like before to buy two bags of six for a dozen bagels. The new price is basically $5.00 for 8, so I guess the price per bagel has gone up, but what hasn't. HERE IS THE BIG NEWS! THE BAGELS ARE NOW WATER BOILED! I saw the big sign on the wall, "water boiled". What that means is they're more like real bagels like you would find in an actual bagel shop, a more dense and chewy bagel, yeah like New York, I guess, even though I've never been. The previous bagels were basically fluffy beard donuts! Costco ended their association with Einstein's bagels (the bread donut ones) and now makes their own using water boiling before baking at each store. I tried them and, whoa, what a difference, it way better. Maybe not totally as good as an actual bagel shop, but way better than what they had before. I used to avoid Costco bagels, but not any more. Try them out!

I have an executive membership that can get us in at 9am and the food court is all ready to go at that time. Hot dogs for the road with a soda too even! They all go hell, yeah! So we pull in and it's just before opening at 9 am. Plenty of parking, not like those big city Costco's at opening. We go in and I have my membership card scanned and head straight to the food court. I go up to the little kiosk thingy and tap in 5 hot dogs and sodas ... $7.50 the feed the whole crew! plus a little tax of course. The staff whips those out in no time and we fill our sodas. I like they switched back to coke products, I like them better than Pepsi products. Over at the condiments, we all squeeze out the mustard, relish and catsup on our dogs and sit at the open tables. These are a little messy to eat, so better make a mess at tables, than inside the Suburban! This was a nice tasty treat in the morning to keep everybody happy till we get to Sacramento. This is a really nice not crowded Costco!
