This place is like the Grandaddy of Walmarts. It's off of 400 a super busy section of supreme shopping in Dawsonville. Everything you could ever want is right there. As soon as you enter this place you can tell it is not just any old neighborhood store. For one thing it is humongous. It is very clean, everything is in place. How they keep it that way is beyond me. The parking lot is full but the store is so big the people inside are spread out. They have a dedicated lick up section and lane after lane of check outs. I was drawn to their clothing section. A lot of merchandise for plus sizes although they had no sleepwear. That was strange. I found sizes up to 5x. That is nearly unheard of. I went to the cleaning supply section. There was tons of Lysol Spray both name brand and Great Value brand. There is a limit however. For the most part I love this location. The only con I have is that this store does not enforce the wearing of masks due to the pandemic. They allow their customers to walk around without masks as if over 200,000 people haven't died in this country Walmart please enforce the wearing of masks. Thank you. read more

One of the worst Walmarts in the United States. The entire staff has the same attitude. I guess they think they are to good to be at Walmart. The real truth is that they could not get a job any where else. How much lower can you get than Walmart. When you try to talk to the manager Matthew, he is never there. There is a major problem at that store. Calling customer service is a complete waste of time since they really don't care or understand what you are saying. This store needs a Complete over haul, starting with the so called manager. I would give the store zero stars, but you have to give it at least one star. read more

The Grocery store side is always super organized and stocked and clean. This rest of the store is usually stocked and the options change often but does seem to keep clutter in numerous isles. I have found good clearance deals here but they always have to be checked because they seldom ring up correctly as marked. Store is clean and there is lots of parking with several exits to different areas of main Rd but all are bit out of the norm. Exspecially the round about in the center...ughh Store is staffed adequately but I have not ever seen registers open w cashier's except during the few days before and after Christmas so it's usually only the self check out option. I shop late typically after 8 and the regular male that over seas checkout isn't very customer friendly making you feel rushed if it's anywhere near closing time. When I worked here they told me to work when others got a break then docked my pay for the hours I worked "on break" so 60-70 dollars and higher ups miss treat and threaten employees and when you say something to them aka he said ima hit you with a forklift and I said try it and see what happens then I was threatened them saying they will fire me for misconduct and to be nice to the pet if there's as he walks of to get them food and talk to girls on shift aka Brandon. Other idiots to watch for is power hungry Brandon the tall one that's uses height to scare you lol and Brittney is the dumbest person I've ever met that is always late and never there when you need her aka people lead. Other then the flashing of firearms, stolen pay, employee mistreatment, customer mistreatment, and snarky attitudes it's a good place to buy a cheap meal possibly the cheapest in the area. Some people are great for help as a costumer and to work with there with being easy to spot out. If you talk about a issue with one of the bad managers or leads they will try to bully you out the store based off what I've seen them do to friends of mine. read more

As Walmart shopping centers go, the Dawsonville location is above average for the chain. The store stays busy anytime you might venture out. However, despite always being busy they keep the parking lot free of clutter and they keep the shopping carts collected which is a nice change from what we are used to. It is a large store with wide isles and moving around the store is not an issue even at the busiest times of the day or week. The grocery area is usually stocked well and you will see staff out stocking during the day to keep items in supply. Register lines tend to be like any other Walmart you will visit, plan to spend some time in line as despite having numerous register stands most are empty and not staffed. The self scan lanes are usually the most efficient way to check out. The Grocery pick up service is usually very efficient and fast and the order accuracy is better than many other Walmart locations we have used. Pickup service for merchandise ordered online, this store has yet to get the Walmart Tower for pickup and it does take some time when picking up items. Usually there is one person working and several people in front of you so be prepared to wait from our experience using the service on two occasions. I am anxious for them to get the Pickup Tower in this store as it makes order pickup totally automated and amazingly efficient. The auto center is exceedingly slow. I have been in several times to get a tire purchased at another Walmart replaced. The bays have been empty on each visit but there is always at least a 4 - 5 hour wait time stated. Also, the hours they are open is greatly varied. On one visit I asked about returning later when they may not be so busy and was told they would be closing between 3 and 4 on a Friday afternoon. Staff are average, not nearly as friendly or helpful as you will find at other retail grocers around town. But, it is Walmart which is not known for a reputation of customer service. read more

I would not recommend shopping at the Dawson Walmart. I have been shopping at Walmart a couple times a week over the past year. I rarely find a shopping cart that is usable on the first try. Usually it takes 2 or more tries. The cart maintenance program is nonexistent. The wheels have flat spots on them. The bearings are seized and need lubrication. The carts are jammed together and you can not get them apart. The latest issue is no pricing on the stock. You have to take it to a cashier or try to find an employee with a scanner to find the price. The scanner stations they used to have throughout the store have been removed because to much merchandise piled up around them because customers left it there rather than returning it to the shelf after finding out the price. I am going to start taking a marker with me and writing the price I am willing to pay and then taking it to the cashier for pricing and sorting. If it rings up for more than I priced it then they can keep it. If everyone did that they would soon start pricing their merchandise rather than restocking everything. read more

I have been going to the Dawsonville, GA for over twenty years. Never had any problems with the employees there. However, my brother who is dragging an oxygen tank and waiting on a handicap cart was treated terribly by and older gentlemen that was working at the front today. He went to the other side of the store and brought over a handicap cart for my brother. He was thanked for being so kind. But he literally said "Here's your handicap cart even though you could of walked over there and got it yourself. " Are you serious? What about my brother barely able to walk and dragging and oxygen tank make you think he can walk to the other side without stopping. All the benches been removed at the front too. How rude!!!!!!! This is a good way to lose customers. Someone needs some sensitivity training on how to treat people less fortunate than yourself. I am encouraging my brother to now move his prescriptions somewhere else so he does not have to go there anymore. I will be changing my shopping habits as well. There are other options so treating customers like trash is not wise. read more

I placed a delivery order online, but it didn't get here that day. Very unusual for this store. It was nothing critical---my cats just did not like their food. I called the next morning. The driver did not show up that first day, and it was late in the day. They apologized, and the order was at my door in a couple of hours that morning.. Thank you. My fat cats thank you! This Dawsonville Walmart has done an amazingly good job in the face of COVID and government subsidy employee challenges. I use them weekly for grocery pickup orders and they're almost always first rate in accuracy of orders and their delivery personnel. I'm also a Walmart+ member and have tried their delivery service with mixed reviews. They use independent contractors for deliveries instead of having their own fleet of delivery vans and vetted employees in uniform as is the case with the FedExs, UPSs, Amazons or USPSs already do. I've communicated this to them, received a nice message back telling me (paraphrasing) their ongoing challenges but they're working on upgrading their delivery quality of service which I understand for reasons previously stated. It's the old proverbial turning around a battleship. It happens but takes time to ramp up which is plausible in my view. All said, they're doing an excellent job in trying times. I recommend them without reservation. read more

SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY ON FULL DISPLAY! This Walmart is directly across the street from the outlet shops so it is very convenient when shopping in Dawsonville. I like to stop here first when I am in the area so that I can get those needed household items. If I waited until after I visited the outlets, I would simply be too tired or uninterested.. Today I came in to get something very specific for my holiday decorating. My local Walmart has already dismantled it's fall display, placed the pumpkins outside and literally sold out of decor. I guessed accurately that this location would have still have options available. I was very pleased to see that they had a full in-store pumpkin display and plenty of fall decor still available. I was able to get exactly what I needed. Visiting this Walmart is always a pleasure because the greeters and other employees are very nice and helpful,and the store is always clean and orderly. I often feel as if I have crossed over into Tennessee because those southern accents start popping and southern hospitality is the rule of the day. Love it! read more

It's a Walmart! Expectations should already be set. That being said, on the Walmart scale it gets 3/5 stars simply for the crappy shopping carts. They all suck! It's Wal-Mart, right? Walking in the door, you need to have extremely low expectations. You need to dumb down your vocabulary and anticipate poor customer service for the sake of convenience and price. Bought a 26-inch flat panel TV from the Alpharetta store. It was intended to be used in my son's room. Few days later epiphany strikes - the kid doesn't need a TV in his room. Go to return it. It's brand new in the unopened box. The Dawsonville branch being much closer, attempted to return it there. Apparently, the serial number on my receipt did not match the serial number on the box. I don't know why - not my problem. I bought it, this was the receipt given to me...not my problem. They looked at me as if I was a felon. They asked me how I was able to change TV's from box to box. They asked me if the TV contained inside was used, and if I was trying to return an old, used one. Seriously?? I have plenty of money and don't need to pull shenanigans to make a buck at the expense of Wal-Mart. Just return my item, so I can be on my way. The result, they won't take the TV back. I am stuck with it. No return potential. And because the serial numbers didn't match between the receipt and TV, I have no warranty either. So not only do you have to deal with an entire store of sub-100 intelligent quotient employees, the company is able to make you out to be the bad guy for their own ineptitude. Buyer beware. Stay away. Spend a few extra bucks and/or drive a few extra miles to avoid the impending Wal-Mart hassle. read more

Although this is a Walmart like any other, I just felt like something was lacking when I shopped here. It was big, spacious, clean, and all, but something was missing..... I was looking for some metal beams to hold shelves up and every employee had no idea what I was talking about...seriously?! I ended up leaving empty handed, still not sure if they have them or not (I know they use them to hold their shelves up though!). We stopped going to this Walmart long ago we might go once in 6 months just for something that no one else carries. We don't like the traffic. We don't like all the people and no registers open. Can't stand the smell of the fish sandwich from McDonald's mixed with the hard and dry tenders of Their Own. Almost every handicap cart is either taken or broken. I think they do that so that you will order from home. Seems like they're always out of the things that I need or want. We go to Dollar General now for most everything small and grocery shop and whatever is convenient Publix Kroger's Ingles Food Lion but not Walmart and definitely not this Walmart read more

I recently moved to Dawsonville from the east coast area (outside of GA). I decided to start doing most of my shopping at this Walmart shortly after my arrival since the closest Sprouts Market was located a ways away in the next town over. Let me tell you something.... this is THE BEST WALMART I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! Not only are they stocked pretty well with nice fruits, toiletries, snacks and items from different countries/cultures, but the level of attentiveness with their staff is above and beyond. I have had quite a few bouts of frustration while either looking for things requested by my loved ones or shopping for myself (as I'm a little older and not great with some things), and there are a few of the same staff members ALWAYS willing to drop what they are doing and help me!!:) there are two that stick out to me, and yes I remembered their names!Aaronn (not sure if that's correct spelling) that is usually stocking and cleaning near registers has been so quick to help me with questions or finding items. The reason he stands out to me is that he was even willing to look for specific (and somewhat difficult) items at OTHER locations if Dawsonville was out of stock and seemed genuine about actually wanting to help this little old lady :') (talking about me LOL). Another was miss Betty I think. Same concept. Willing to drop everything just to help me and she seemed closer to my age! But you would never be able to guess that some of these employees are most likely overworked and exhausted. You all have made my move soo much easier and this is my Walmart store for life read more

I was in your Walmart today and some older fellow was sick and sneezing and wiping his nose, in the aisle way. I immediately told one of your associates and he said I was overreacting, so I told two other of your associates and do you know what they told me, I go on break in 15 minutes and they had no idea what I was talking about. Are you for real? They don't know what I am talking about? I did ask them why they were cleaning the carts outside, they replied they were told to keep them clean..seriously??? This Wal-Mart location is no different than any other Wal-Mart: it's haphazardly stocked with racks and shelves of mostly poor quality goods; bodied check out lines are rarely opened, and the ones that happen to be staffed are rediculously long and slow to get through; self checkout areas may have a few functional stations overburdened with waiting customers; restroom facilities are hit-or-miss operational, hygeinec, and stocked; there is ample amounts of devoid customer care, etc, etc, etc.....eh, It's Wal-Mart, what more can be said? read more

I don't usually write reviews, but decided to write this one since I feel the current overall rating doesn't truly reflect this Walmart. The other reviews make me wonder if we're talking about the same store? I shop here several times a week. It is one of the cleanest Walmart stores that I have every been to. It is a smaller store (as far as Walmarts go), but is well stocked. The employees are always helpful and friendly. Usually, if I ask an employee a question and he/ she doesn't know the answer, he/ she will try and find someone who can help me. Customer Service has always been extra helpful too. As far as Walmarts go, this one is top notch. read more

BE CAREFUL - it's dangerous in their stores - there were snakes - yes - SNAKES - loose in this store & things can fall on you that are heavy... kids are especially vulnerable. Sadly, they don't even warn their own employees of the dangers. I feel for them - they do try their best - most are lovely, and work for peanuts and little or no benefits. Sure do wish the employees would get ample sick days thus not have to come to work to infect us all! As to being cheap - i get better 'deals' for baby stuff, & HBAs, et al,, at Rite-Aid (I get a 20% discount on everything just for being a customer)! Plus Best Buy always matches their prices, and BB's employees are much more expert - plus BB's loooong term warranties have always saved me from bigger outlays. i just got TWO new PCs via Best Buy via warranties! Also, the new Sprouts in Cumming has great deals on non-GMO & fresher produce, and their meats are naturally fed (grass)! As to Miles C. from Lula 3/7/2012 - your "Lard Behinds" comment = an entirely nasty term - and it surely illustrates how much class you do NOT possess!
