I wish I could give this place zero. Just try to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels. Was in a little bit of a hurry so I ran into to grab it. All of the liquor is locked up, and I waited for over a half hour. After hitting the button for Help three different time, and speaking to four different Walmart people (who told me that was not their department) I finally got someone to help me. When the woman finally came up to let me in the liquor cabinet, she told me that she was the only one working, and that I should have more patience. Absolute ridiculousness, do not buy hard liquor from the store. They clearly don't want to sell it to you. read more

Recently we shopped at the local Walmart store and paid for the purchase with a check. Typically they scan the check and then they return it. This time the cashier said that the scanner didn't work and kept the check. Later when balancing my wife found that the check had been put through twice. One time the physical check and the next day an ACH charge went through. The bank said it would be better if I contacted the merchant. I called the corporate office and was told to contact the local store. I called the store and was told that I should contact the bank. I did. The bank issued a temporary credit and sent me a form to be completed and signed. We were told that the process could take up to 35 days to complete. We are just happy that this didn't happen with a major purchase or our real estate taxes. read more

Fast, dependable and accurate service (delivery). Yes this Walmart offers delivery and they are FAST! While I love Woodman's grocery - Walmart has even lower prices on most everything. I save mega bucks shopping online here. The produce is fresh and clean. The supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, Tostitos cheese in a jar, bell peppers, etc) again are cheaper then elsewhere. If Walmart can charge .10 - 1.00 cheaper ask yourself why other stores are marking up the price of their stuff like they do???? Forget Amazon except for some of the most exotic stuff. Walmart rules. Amazon has gotten expensive compared to many places. I have never been in the store itself or met the employees but again I can order stuff and within 24 hours its on my doorstep. I've been a patient of Nelson Eyecare at Walmart for five years. I've had mostly negative experiences here like three years ago when I was given an awful prescription for contact lenses that were not for my astigmatism. My doctor prescribed non-astigmatism contacts to me but I have always had an astigmatism and I ended up ordering a ninety day package of non-astigmatism contacts. They sucked. I brought them Ray-ban wayfarer frames for prescription lenses five years ago (Ray-ban didn't offer it on their web site at the time) and they seemed alright. Four months ago I brought them BRAND NEW Ray-ban wayfarer sunglasses for regular clear prescription lenses. So they were like ok and did GOD KNOWS WHAT TO REMOVE THE TINTED LENSES. You can see how scratched and dented the lenses are in my pictures. Anyway five weeks later they finally got the lenses in so I brought my frame back and they OBVIOUSLY FORCED THE LENSES INTO THE FRAME JUST LOOK WHAT THEY DID! The glasses in the background are the ones from five years ago for reference (WHICH BY THE WAY MUST HAVE BEEN ALSO FORCED IN BECAUSE THE LENSES BULGE FROM THE BOTTOM PART OF THE RIM ON THOSE!). I went off when I saw what they did and that they thought it satisfactory to present them to me in this terrible condition. The manager was combative, rude, and indignant. She claimed I was told this might happen and I was like NOBODY TOLD ME AND EVEN IF THEY DID WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD THINK THIS IS ACCEPTABLE. She told me they would try to fix it and instead of apologizing or saying goodbye or anything they (the manager and two other workers) let me leave the store angry. Three weeks later I CALLED THEM and they said they messed up the frames so bad they tried to order new ones from Sunglasses Hut--and not even tell me about it. read more

I have had numerous issues with this particular store over the years but have never called them or given bad reviews. Now, they have really pushed my button. Visited at around 10:15pm on Tuesday April 9, 2024 and as usual the stockers had a few aisles blocked with skids to where you could not get through. One stocker walking around belching real loud even though he knew customers were around. The worst part, after shopping for a half an hour, the cashier and supervisor did not know how to enter my gift card that I received from completing online surveys, so I was forced to leave empty handed. I have used these type of electronic gift cards for over a year and they always have problems with them but end up figuring it out. Not this time as they whispered amongst themselves that it looked like a photo copy meaning they thought I was trying to scam them. It is not my fault that the employees of Elgin Walmart do not know how to do thier jobs, Maybe they should go to the Carpentersville store to be trained as that store knows what they are doing. read more

BEYOND PISSED. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was there a few weeks ago & stood in line for almost half an hour. 5 minutes into waiting in line- the cashier just upped & walked away from the register & never returned. (The light was still on for the register) We continued to wait in line for the cashier & she never returned. I was in this line specifically waiting to purchase my formula for my son. [They lock the formula up & bring it to register 7 for purchase]. The Hiring Manager with Glasses & Blonde Hair then came up to everyone in line & said that if we wanted to purchase our items we would need to go down to self-checkout but refused to grab the formula that my son needed. She was very rude & careless. Now fast-forward to today. I placed a Walmart Grocery order. When I got home I realized I had 10 items missing. I've called the store over 30 times in the last hour. The phones will ring for 2-4 minutes and then hang-up. Only the Deli & Pharmacy picked up. The Deli transfered me & yet again, nobody picked up. The Pharmacy explained their phone lines are completely different from Walmart's phone lines & would page the store manager. They tried paging her 5-6 times & still got nothing. I then called the customer service number & they hung up mid call. I called once more & finally had an amazing lady help me with the missing items. 0/10 Don't recommend this Walmart. I am at my wits end. NEVER go to Walmart in Elgin. Their employees say one word when asked a question about a phone service provided ONLY by Walmart without actually letting you know what products you need to buy. Oh, & forget trying to call them for ANYTHING. Apparently the phone number online is JUST for show. You will call for three days straight, try every department. And the ONLY helpful and kind Walmart employee that will answer will be in the pharmacy where they can't transfer you to someone. A lovely lady in the pharmacy did take a note for me and gave it to someone, which was obviously ignored because Walmart could care less about your questions or your needs. 0/10. EDIT: three days later and I still can't get ahold of anyone. No one answers the phone. Gas prices are RIDICULOUS for me to drive all the way to Walmart to find out they don't have what I need. This is by FAR the WORST customer service I have ever had in my life. I'm actually fuming. I like that they have 2nd Street Creamery ice cream. But I had a weird customer service experience recently. A few weeks ago, we went to buy a galaxy s4 at the full retail price, and they wouldn't price-match. Like the in-store price was $50 above what Samsung's site had listed. The weird part is this: they wouldn't price-match their own online price even when we showed it to them. That was bs lol. Luckily, my brother found the phone on craigslist for $400 so he saved $300+. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have already reached Walmart's customer service regarding my store experience and their customer service disregarded my experience as well, so here I am on Yelp, to share my experience and hopefully save someone else the hassle of dealing with this mess of a store. After this I will NEVER shop at any Walmart again. As a consumer, we have all the power as to where our money goes, so I refuse to give a store who does not care about their customers my money. Here is my experience which I sent to Walmart's customer service: "I was gifted diapers from Walmart from my baby shower since I am a new mom. I have three boxes of diapers, two pampers brand and The other Parent's choice. I am not using these brands and wanted to exchange for the Hello Bello brand. I waited 20+ minutes in the guest services line cause there was only one employee. When it is finally my turn, I let the employee know that I wanted to exchange for a different brand. I did not have a receipt as it was a gift so I was expecting At least store credit on a merchandise card so I could shop at a later time. Employee let me know that she couldn't give credit and that I would need to go exchange right away and that my total was around $45. The employee held the diapers behind the counter while I went to go shop. I was extremely disappointed in the lack of Hello Bello merchandise on the shelves and I couldn't get the sizes that I needed. So I grabbed two boxes of diapers in a different size and some infant formula. (I did the math and it came to around $49 dollars so I figured I would just pay the difference). I go back to customer service, wait in line again for 10+ minutes and when it's finally my turn the employee then tells me the formula doesn't count and it has to be just diaper exchange. How am I supposed to exchange for diapers when the store doesn't have what I need? How can I shop at a different store if I can't even get merchandise credit to use at a later time? This Walmart is not even the Walmart near my home and I went to this one because I was in the area. So to be told I have to shop then and there and then for the store to not have what I need is extremely frustrating and disappointing. I spent 45+ Minutes to end up just leaving Walmart with the same diapers I came with. As a new mom, time is limited, so to have wasted all that time for no result is ridiculous. I would greatly appreciate if I could hear back from customer service or corporate in regards to this matter and the rationale or store policy on why diapers have to be strictly diaper exchange." read more

People I have been watching grocery prices for the past 13 weeks and all I can say is grocers should be ashamed. In the people's time of need when we have been put out of work and the majority lost their jobs grocers have doubled their prices, especially BIG BOX, they have increased the most. Now that Walmart does not have the discount prices I and urging people to set aside conveniences and sell out small business family business. If I could, I'd give this Walmart Pharmacy negative stars. The staff there used to be very helpful but recently that's changed for the worse. The pharmacist is belligerent and not in the least way helpful. I have been ordering Diabetic test strips for several years through this pharmacy, paid for by my Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurances. With this last order they wanted me to pay a deductible. They wouldn't check with Blue Cross, but if they did, they'd have found out that's how the deductible would have been paid. The Pharmacist wasn't interested in helping a customer, just proving that he was right. He said, "If this is wrong, Corporate will fix it." Try calling Walmart Corporate for anything. Your fingers will be bloody pushing buttons on your phone before you actually speak with someone. If you do speak to someone, they'll offer to connect you to the store you're calling to complain about. Total waste of time. I'm going to transfer all my prescriptions to some other pharmacy. read more

Attempted to try the Walmart curbside pick up for the first time and was a horrible experience. When I arrived there was only one other vehicle waiting for the pick up and I was parked for 20 minutes as other vehicles showed up and received their orders and had left. I then proceeded to call them and check on the order and they said they were bringing it out in 2 minutes. Another 10 minutes went by as other new vehicles arrived and received their pick up orders again. I got so frustrated that I canceled the pick up order and would never attempt to do that again. Every time I go to this Walmart (which is very rarely) I have an extremely mind-boggling/weird/uneasy experience. Because of this I will rarely go by myself and/or will go in, get what I need, and leave as quickly as possible. But, because of my bad experiences thus far, I try to avoid this Walmart if I can. The first time I went here a man followed me around and then when I went to check out he asked if I would be his girlfriend. Most recently, I was in the produce aisle and two older women walked in screaming and yelling at each other and almost got into a physical altercation until someone stepped in. Also, it seems as if there are almost always police there because of some sort of shoplifting incident. The majority of employees at this location are extremely miserable, unhelpful, and rude. read more

The produce department here is a joke. Wilted lettuce, moldy basil, and otherwise mostly bad produce have me purchasing my fresh produce elsewhere. They are ok for packaged items and personal items. The one thing that makes this Walmart a bit better than others is their butcher. A short man with glasses, this guy is ALWAYS helpful. If he's out stocking items he always asks if he can help you find something, then the few times that I've had questions, he has gone out of his way to help me. I used the Walmart app to purchase my entire grocery list (about 30 items) and selected a curbside pickup time between 7 PM and 8 PM. I arrived at 7:15 PM and parked in spot 16 and checked in on the app. At tbis time, there were no other spit available, as it was completely filled up. After about 30 minutes (7:45 PM) with no employee walking up to my car, I got out and asked what the ETA would be. I was advised they were short-handed, and it would be another 30 minutes. That is understandable, no big deal for me, I dont mind waiting a little. 8:30 PM rolls around, so I get out and ask again. I am again, advised it won't be much longer. This happened 3 separate times after this. After I got tired of going out to walk up to them, I attempted to call the curbside pickup phone # for an ETA. I attempted to call 6 times, to which then declined every call. As the time hit 10:15, after 3 hours of waiting for my groceries I have already paid for, I got out and asked again if I will even be getting my groceries tonight. I was told they will not be fulfilling my order and that I can request a cancelation, get a refund within 48 hours and was told to leave. When I asked about my groceries, they said I would need to repurchase everything and select a different day for pickup. I understand it is not the fault of any employee that they are short handed, but at least be upfront in the first place and let me know it may be awhile and I might be better off coming back another day. I would have appreciated this much more than wasting 3 hours of my time on my way home from work. The entire situation was handled terribly, and because of this, I will no longer be giving Walmart any of my money. The whole situation left an extremely sour taste in my mouth, and the fact that they left 2 entry-level curbside employees out there to deal with all of the extremely angry customers is a terrible look for the management at this location. read more

This store is fine in terms of the overall experience. It's very new and clean, and things seem generally well-stocked. But the photo department is a little harried. Okay, I get that you have new services/products rolling in, but there's no reason to be so disorganized and rude. I went in to the photo department having submitted one 8x20 mounted photo order online that morning. I sat down at the HP machine to order an 11x14 canvas print. The mounted photo should have been done already - the automated email response/website told me a certain time and I was there at least a half hour after that time. When they couldn't find my print (because it wasn't done), I was offered no apology. They looked it up in the system and said they couldn't even find it because 'the online order system is down.' When the older lady told me this, she made it seem as if I should know that, as if it was my fault. No apology, just a stare. The entire online ordering process was easy, and had let me process immediately. There was no indication of it being down. So I went back to the HP machine to reorder the mounted photo in-store. I very much wanted to leave Walmart right after picking things up, but I had to wander around the store to wait for my prints. I was told twenty minutes. When I came by a half hour later, they were working on the prints right there in front of me. I had to wait several more minutes. Then, when I went to pay, I presented coupons for free services; I was to pay $0 that day for my prints due to a HouseParty.com promotion. The older woman at the register asked me very rudely where I had gotten the coupons, and I was made to feel like a criminal. She was suspicious of me the whole time, even when I nicely explained to her about the House Party organization and how it works. I was in Walmart on Randall Rd, in South Elgin Il. on 7/11 at around 1:30pm. Masks must not be 100% required at this location (based on gender and or nationality). A woman with no mask walked by 2 workers in front, asked to put on her mask, she gave them a thumbs up and kept going. There was no attempt to stop her. She then proceeded to walk and shop at her leisure. I informed 2 workers then a manager. NOTHING was done. I called. I was put on hold after telling what was going on, then hung up on. Again, NOTHING was done. This will be posted on multiple sites today. So for those that don't want to wear a mask especially if you are a white female, just say NO and give a thumbs up. Walmart Delivery Sucks. Do Not Pay them for Delivery. Every time I have ordered from them, there is always something that is old. Old Meat, Old Vegetables. I ordered frozen chicken and all of them were freezer burned which told me that they were clearly old and have been in the freezer for quite some time. This told me that not only does the personal shoppers at Walmart not care about the quality they are providing, it's almost as if it is done deliberately because you don't see these type of things in the store front. Second, Almost every time I have ordered Vegetables, they were old VERY OLD. In no way shape or form should you pick out vegetables for your customers that are wilted and BROWN. Clearly the personal shopper saw this? Or they just don't care. I will be cancelling my Walmart + and ordering with Instant Cart instead. And I will be writing this same review everywhere. read more

Shopping for a Christmas tree tonight at the Elgin, IL Walmart 8 days before Christmas. All the trees on display were marked 50 % off. There were no signs saying display models only were 50 % off. Of course they didn't retain the original boxes. I asked an associated to request that a manager come to the garden center to answer questions about the trees. 10 minutes later and still no manager. Maybe Walmart should consider customer service training for their managers. read more
