My wife went to the makeup section to purchase items, most were in the locked cabinet so she went to the associate behind the register. The lady advised it would be a minute as she was busy; after waiting approx 10 minutes at the counter, the associate completed her task, made an obviously personal call and walked away. This is not the norm for this store but this is 100% unacceptable. read more

I've been using walmart's delivery/pickup service and so far it's become one of my favorite ways to shop with them. I haven't shopped at a walmart in years so these methods afford me the opportunity to shop with them without the hassle of going inside the store. On my last pickup order they handed us a gift, a cute little goodie bag filled with samples and coupons. I was totally appreciative. Pickup service is easy to use. Just pick a spot and check in on the app when you arrive. They'll come out to your car and will pack the groceries for you. It saves me so much time and energy especially when I'd rather not wander through busy, overcrowded isles. read more

The weather forecast for our week in Galveston was for unseasonably warm weather so we didn't think we needed jackets but then the sea fog rolled in and it was low 60's and damp and windy so we came to Walmart to get some polar fleece. My wife and I each got a zip up hoodie for around $14 each so not bad at all. The staff was nice and they had plenty of cashiers on hand for checkout. read more

Okay cashiers, so you don't like it when people go to the self check out because it takes away your job right? That's understandable, but do you get that people go to the self check out because the majority of cashiers are jerks? I honestly think the cashier that I tried to go to today wants to get fired because her attitude stunk so bad that I turned around and left and went to the self check out. I'm sick of it Galveston Walmart! Why is everyone in this store so freaking mean? I stay away for months at a time because every time I come here I get abused. I give yall chance after chance and still you fail. There are a few good employees at the store which I feel sorry for because everyone else here sucks, so it must be a drag to work here with all these negative people! Figure it out because it's not rocket science! If you treat customers like crap they are not going to be nice to you either. Third time here coming in for toiletries before going on a cruise. When you've been to one Walmart, they're all very similar. However, pricing on food items varies depending on the location. Nonfood goods are the same price regardless of what state you're in. But food prices vary. For example: a bag of popcorn is $2.98 at this Walmart, but $3.15 in San Diego. Same product, different states, so different prices. Loved that they have a gluten-free section. Usually, the same items as found in other Walmarts. The only negative, they have limited varieties of yogurt both in terms of flavors and types - not a lot of plant based. I use self checkout and have only asked for help a few times so limited interaction with employees. But the few I've met have been nice. Because it's Texas, grocery bags are free. No $0.10 per bag charge like in California. Lots of parking. Uber and Lyft arrive quickly usually within 3 minutes. So there's never a wait which is nice when you've got grocery bags. read more

Most everyone that delivered my groceries done very well with getting them delivered on time. If they can't find you they will call. There's been only minor issues with missing one or two small items. One time,they were missing some of my moms order because they delivered them to the wrong address due to my mom and another lady that has the same name but different spelling. They just need to pay attention to the address they are delivering to is pretty much all they need to work on. read more

No sure what is going on with these shoppers gathering your groceries for pick up but its becoming a real issue. Bought ready made Spinach Dip and had it delivered on 9/27. Took a bite and it tasted horrible. Label on Dip showed it expired on 9/19!!! read more

Place was Clean, well organized and easy to find needs. However a Tall Woman with Brown hair, hefty build and Glasses, was tremendously rude. I asked if they were closing down an isle do to the time and he her standing right next to it. She spoke to me with such ignorance, and disrespect. Like the face of a dog she said, "there is someone using that one, you can't use it." Ruff back to you lady, I see your breed... smh. Pray for the ugly lady. May you receive lower pay. read more

Compared to the Walmart back at home (Buffalo,Ny), this place is huge! There is so many more items that are available here, that isn't available in my hometown. For a store to be this big, you would think it would be chaotic or even a mess. But this store is well organized and clean. read more

We ordered our wedding cake from this location and we were pleasantly surprised! The cake was gorgeous and the flavor was amazing. We got the strawberry filling to jazz it up a bit and no one could believe it was a Walmart cake! We highly recommend the bakery at this location to anyone planning an event on the island! read more

The worst customer service ever. I have been to stores with self check but, usually they have people to help if there is a problem. Since we had beer in our cart we needed a rep to approve the purchase and ID us. The rep had disappeared I saw her by the customer service talking to a friend of hers, not an employee. I asked her, if she could come help. Her response was, I am not coming over there, and she walked away. So RUDE!!! The store set up sections on each end of the store for self check. None are open and we have to stand in a very long line in one of the few aisles that are open with a checker to cash out. read more

Profiling people of color. Came in with my wife and grandchildren, followed around store, everyone staring at you. I purchased a shirt, my granddaughter purchased sunglasses. This is the best Walmart I have ever been to. Over the last 8 years I have been to at least 100 Walmarts. I travel full-time in an RV (and write about it at livinginbeauty.net) and Walmart is a dependable source for about a third of my essential needs. I'm starting to see that it will be the same negative experience every time I do a pick up order from this Walmart. Yet again, I placed a pick up order and though it was ready on time, I did not receive my order until after my pickup window which means I waited for over an hour. While I was waiting, I received a notification stating that my order had already been picked up, which was not true. I tried calling the store multiple times but no one answered the phone so finally, I got out of my car to speak with the person who was working in the pickup area. He asked my name and said the system showed that I was parked in a different parking spot than I actually was which I guess is the reason why there was such a delay. He apologized for the inconvenience but that doesn't do much good especially since knowing that I have this experience every time. If I place a pick up order, I should not have to get out of my car for any reason. That defeats the purpose of placing the order. This Walmart needs to have more people working in this department or something needs to be done because there's always an issue whenever I am picking up my order. I hate Walmart, especially this one. And I will likely not be back, for pickup or in store shopping. read more

Stop by to grab some "picnic" items for the night since we are stopping by and really getting sick and tired constantly eating at fast food places. And of course, deli is down. Super disappointed to. In short, I can only confirm the 2 star rating for the service one receives when looking for or needing assistance within the store. This location's rating has not seen a 3 star average rating in years. After requesting the manager and she/he was a "no-show" I was told that as an associate "there is nothing else she can do". Total wait time for assistance 8 minutes. Wait time for management 5 minutes. Left without my 8 yards of fabric. So my guess is the problems start and end with management. Unlike most Wal-Marts the nearest location is 20+ miles away. I was there Monday afternoon, August 9th. **This is NOT the service I receive from the associates in the Curbside Dept. The guy searched twice for a cart when I asked if we could just walk it to the front. Then he went to go look for a pallet jack. Got frustrated after waiting around 20 minutes that I just took the tv up there myself. There was 5 other idiots standing in electronics being even more worthless. I despise Walmart, and refuse to shop here unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes when we are out camping, it is necessary. Recently they added a scan and go app that made the Walmart experience tolerable. I am even ok with the ridiculous charge of $13 a month. Unlike Sam's club scan and go app that is free (maybe because we are paying to be members now that I think this thru), at any rate, the scan and go app at Walmart makes shopping there much easier. It is a huge hassle to get connected to the wifi network and sign in and navigate to the app, and there is never an associate available to assist in connecting to this service, but once you do successfully connect, you are golden. While I am on the subject of the scan and go app, there are some things you do need approval for. Alcohol, certain other drugs, superglue, etc. And I haven't figured out how to use a Walmart gift card yet. Which brings me to the reason for a one star review today. We had to return something today that we bought yesterday. An item that didn't work. When we got to the cstmr srv line, there was a family of 4 returning several items, two employees were. Ehind the counter, so I was optimistic. However, after about two minutes, even though we were standing there, the second employee left. The associate left with the family and their return needed assistance from two other senior associates. Each one helped her, then walked off, despite us still standing there, and now two other customers joining the line. The store front manager renette (lady with the blue hair) was very rude to myself and my wife. We tried returning a chair that was bought and never used. We were told she was not returning it today and she chooses what gets returned. Meanwhile she let a lady in front of us return a bunch of food. Very unprofessional. I asked an employee if he could open it and he said he'd have to tell the people in the back because they're the only ones with the keys. I waited more and no one came. I decided to ask someone before I checked out if anyone could get me into that case, he found someone, they said they don't have the keys either, he turned to me and said "sorry we don't have the keys." Then when I was checking out he said if I was willing to wait longer they'd try to find them but I'd already waited around 20 minutes so I decided to just leave. Check! Check check check. Make your list. Get it all in one stop. Hint. Galveston's grocery stores like Randall's maybe smaller but the mark ups are ridiculous.
