I can't believe this shop has been here for 18 years and i only discovered it this year! Thanks to my yelp friend Lisa C. (In Galveston, who I met at the Yelp's ALL-Star event.) I finally made the trip from Katy to visit during the full moon before closing. I absolutely loved the vibe and concept of the store. The mysterious energy was so intriguing and welcoming. Even though I was short on time, the team member did a beautiful job helping me and sharing recommendations for beginner witches. I knew I wanted to start a crystal collection, choose a pendulum, and pick up a few spiritual items. Normally, I like to research books before committing, but I purchased a couple on impulse. my only disappointment was learning afterward that BOOKS are FINAL SALE. I had been under the impression that unopened, non-creased books could be exchanged (not returned) within 10 days. There is a sign displayed, but the wording could be clearer. Had I understood that all books were FINAL SALE, I definitely would have compared prices before purchasing, made a different selection, and purchased only one book. I admire how they place bookmarks inside the books of purchase. The bookmarks double as their business cards, such a smart way to consolidate promotion & usefulness. I adore that unique feature. That said, the friendly service was amazing energy made for a wonderful experience. Witchery has definitely earned a spot on my must-visit list whenever I'm on the island. read more

Great place to find all of your witchy needs from books on spells, herbs, astrology, natural healing to candles, figurines, and stones. Take your time browsing the shelves, you'll leave feeling enchanted and enlightened. I found a book that was waiting for me, can't wait to dive in. They also offer personal oracle readings. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. Nothing seemed overly expensive. Great variety of stones, oils, candles, books and protection jewelry. Great customer service that varies every visit. Some items are a bit pricey but it all depends on what you're looking for. This was my third or fourth visit here for the bracelets, bells, candles and some Florida water. This time around they had good prices on some rings. I recommend this place if even just to look around. I love coming here just to look and see what's new. Parking can be tricky and expensive but we came during the week and in the morning. read more

The vibes in here are immaculateeeeit smells like nice burning incense, they have loads of books, so many crystals, they sometimes give readings in the back and more. Whether you're a beginner, experienced, or anything in between, you'll find something here that interests you. I had this expectation that everything in there would be expensive but nope! We decided to check this store out because it looked cool and this is a cool store indeed with interesting mythical merchandise like witchcraft, spells, gnomes, oils, sage, and dragons. My sister got her tarot card read for $20 in cash for 15 minutes. I'm not sure if the tarot card reader is there every day but she was there on a Sunday. Although we did not but anything but the staff is helpful and they answered some questions we had. read more

This is the best shop of its kind I have ever visited. Looking around Yelp to see what is interesting I came across Witchery! In an area of repurposed shops in downtown Galveston, this dispensary of herbs, paraphernalia, and magic is an intriguing way to spend time. The attention to detail is impressive. From the authentic antique pharmacy counters, display Cases and loose-leaf herb drawers to the ready-made brooms, incense, daggers, and statuary, this shop is curated with an eye to detail and authenticity. Mesmerizing soundtracks play in the background, subdued lighting soothes you while you peruse the endless book titles. I can't believe it but I bought a great book on essential oil recipes! Loved the ambiance of this place -- it reminded me of a few apothecaries in Austin & didn't have any huge markups. I was able to get a new moon bowl for my crystals for cheaper than Amazon. The staff was nice and not overbearing so I greatly appreciated that. Thank y'all for not having a tourist markup! Looking forward to sharing this place with all of my friends. I love this store. I have never once been in and left empty-handed. The variety and quality of everything is awesome, but my favorite part is that they carry/support a lot of the darker arts. This is insanely appreciated. Some of the other similar shops very clearly lean to the "peace and love" meditation and "good/white witch" side, instead of spanning the spectrum. I feel much more comfortable and happy in a place like the Witchery. I've seen a few reviews complain about the staff and I don't get it. Every time I've been in, the staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. Maybe assess what your own attitude and actions were as a customer before blaming them for any "rudeness". read more

Love that the staff wears masks and they enforce masks for customers who enter. It was the first time I've visited this store and it's one of a kind. They have an assortment of books, crystals, herbs, jewelry, boxes, incense holders and more. I came by today and found their prices to be affordable compared to another store I've visited in Houston. The store is clean, organized, and has a calm atmosphere when you enter. The employees were very polite and allowed me to purchase a selenite bowl from one of their displays. I almost didn't get the books I bought until I sat down and looked up the info about them since they have signs and enforce not reading the books in the store. Update: 3/15/19 Well came back 5 months later to Galveston and stopped in with my boyfriend. Love this store but yeah I finally met the rude male employee. Yup. He's a jerk. I had my enclosed coffee mug on the shelf to flip through a book for literally 5 seconds and he comes over with some smart a$$ remark as I retrieved my coffee quickly and was planning to buy the book. After the remark he made to me I was kind of taken aback. So I found the book cheaper on Amazon and left. If you don't want drinks in the store, put a sign up that says so. Problem solved. I've been in many stores like this but this one was very nice and had a wide variety of things to explore! You never know what witches you'll be sharing space with while there too! I had two encounters that blew my mind! When I was walking up this lady was like stop hogging the sidewalk walk so this lady can pass. I wasn't walking fast and had no intention of passing but the crazy part was she never turned around like how did she know I was there. It was pretty rad! Now the store was packed full of books, crystals and some witchy nicknacks. It had low lighting in there so I found it hard to read some to the book titles but I'm gonna chalk that up to getting old haha. I came specifically to some black crystals since I have bad energy stalking me and need to block this crazy nut and reflect her toxic energy. Of course I grab some other crystals and a candle!! It was hard to choose too! All the candles smelled so good!! I really enjoyed their fountain too!! When I say I sighed all through my purse and wallet for some change haha and came up with nothing it was a let down haha Anyway I highly recommend checking this place out!! My son and I were in here for 10 min, eating ice cream, I went up to the counter to pay and leave and was told very rudely by the counter guy to "leave. We don't let ice cream in here. You can touch the books but don't dare open them to read even a page or two because you'll "ruin" the book. I'll give Amazon my money instead of supporting local with the attitudes of employees that work at The Witchery. I've never in my life been in a store with books and not been allowed to open the book and take a peek at the content. Absolutely horrible experience just now. We were visiting for a family vacation and I was looking forward all day to coming by The Witchery to take my daughter (11 years old) to pick out a pendulum. She has been begging me for months and I thought this would of been a wonderful time to get one. Plus, I was looking to add a few crystals to my collection. At first when we walked in, there was a unwelcoming vibe from the staff. I paid no mind at the beginning because I was taken in by the merchandise. My daughter found where the pendulums were. I told her to look through a small basket with various pendulums wrapped in plastic to pick out the color she wanted. This was HER moment to connect with it. It was a short moment that was ruined by a rude snapped comment from a older gentleman behind the counter. " DONT LET THE KIDS TOUCH THE MERCHANDISE!" I was utterly confused. I looked around thinking there were unruly children around, but the rude gentleman was talking to me. I replied she was just picking out her pendulum that we were going to buy. He said I should pick it out for her. I get that there were signs saying for unsupervised kids are not allowed and not to touch merchandise, but that doesn't take the place for customer service. I REFUSE to give my business to people who don't want us there. No greeting, no orientation of the rules of the store... just staff that has a sour look on their faces. Remember, it's people like me who help your business stay open and help pay your bills. I'm a woman in the retail industry and I was appalled by how we were treated. I was even more heartbroken to see the look of disappointment in my daughters face when I told her we were not going to buy a pendulum today. The owner has so rude and ruined our experience. We were in the front of the store checking out and between us spent several $100 he raised his voice to us and told us to be quiet as the psychic in the back of the storecwas working. We were from out of town visiting in a great mood and he totally took our vibe away. He's a real jerk he did not seem happy unless he was bitching at someone. The 2 women that worked there were OK they weren't overly friendly but they're probably sick of having to work with the jerk. Would never go back to this store I'm considering on my way out of town today returning the items I bought which were a $101. This store is great! My daughter and I went two weeks ago and I haven't stopped thinking about it and when I'm going back next. It has a quaint, yet strong, bold type atmosphere. Nothing spooky or scary. They have great selections of crystals, jewelry, art, books, candles and best of all, a Tarot card reader whom is there Saturday & Sundays. I had a reading as did my daughter and I was highly impressed! She was good! I'm just starting to dabble in Tarot and find it fascinating due to its accuracy. None of the workers were wearing their masks and the check out counters did not get sanitized as people went in and out paying for their goods.
