This is the oldest Walmart building I ever walked in. The exterior wall bricks really show signs of deterioration. The parking lot was really big though, managed to find a spot quickly. The inside of the store was pleasantly nicer than the exterior. The sections were tidy and the ceiling had sunroof brightening up the store. Throughout the store there were many good deals on different products, especially for soda cases. 1.5 dozen eggs were under $6. The fresh produce had excellent inventory. We went to the store to find a school bag, but we didn't like the available options. It was Sunday and was somewhat busy. But the staff members were handling the checkout registers well. Hugh Walmart!! It definitely has whatever you need. It's very organized. All sections are labeled and the staff are helpful. Usually there's a discount section for toys and many merchandise. Don's skip it. You can find some good deals there. Many check out counters. The wait is not that bad. The staff are efficient. read more

3/22/25: Stopped in to look at TVs. It was "very difficult" to find someone to assist. The majority Walmart employees you would ask for assistance would just say, "I don't work in this department" and continue to walk by. Never mind saying, I'll find someone to help you. ***2 Stars off- (To me, this reflects "poor training" from management). I asked one young lady "Jessi" if she could assist. Jessi was the only employee who said that she would find someone to help us. About 1 minute later, she returned to assist me with a TV stand with TV. Big Thanks to Jessi for good customer service. So for certain items Walmart is my go to. I like their equate branded items. I am a once or twice a month Walmart shopper. You do really need to know your prices because for many items Walmart isn't competitive. As in my previous review the instore shopping experience at this location and most of their Northern NJ locations is awful. When I do shop in this store I try to go at off times. My Walmart online ordering and pick up at the Garfield store or store delivery is a 100% better experience! If possible I would give zero or negative stars for in store shopping and 4 stars for online, delivery, and store pick up. So that's my logic used for my 3 star rated. I love that their app ordering asks you about substitutions if your item is out of stock. I also really like their 4 days window to pick up your store order. I like that their app tells you when those items you marked as favorites have price changes. The pick up app telling the store that you are on the way works great! When you arrive you identify your parking space number & the color of your car. Generally the wait isnt bad and their employees are pleasant as they place your order in the car.Their notifications about home delivery status is also excellent. read more

It was a little more chaotic than my usual Walmart Supercenter in Union, and there was a good deal of disarray on the shelves. Granted, it was a Saturday afternoon, so very likely it was busier than normal, but we didn't find the brand of hair dye my kid was looking for, nor the cat litter our feline buddy prefers. It was a quick trip, and we didn't buy anything. It might help if Walmart paid its employees a living wage and cared about proper staffing levels, too. read more

Went to the Garfield location on 9/17. The place is a disaster! I saw at least 60 workers roaming around not helping anyone. Shoppers were in aisles frustrated because they couldn't get any help getting items. Most all of the workers were foreigners from different countries that did not speak English. I had to ask four of them to find out where an item was in the store and none of them could understand. They would just point to another worker who couldn't speak English either. It's not a stretch to think these may be illegal aliens. @ICE needs to come and check out what's going on here. Some may be here legally, but since there are so many any countries represented here and do not speak English, Walmart may be employing illegals. Probably one of the worst Walmarts I've been to. It's worse than Secaucus and Kearny. read more

PROS: this place was very nice. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and had tons of parking too. CONS: due to the narrow driving lanes a lot of congestion occurred in the parking lot. Also the inventory isn't as plentiful as other super centers OVERALL: I would come back to this location if I was in the area. But tetorboro may be a better option read more

Wish I could give them ZERO stars, especially the vision center. I've been going here to have my eye prescriptions filled for about 5 years. In 2021, I got an infection on my face from the dirty equipment. In january of 2024, I dropped off glasses w/case for new lenses. I went to pick then up, they lost my case, didnt give me a reciept or a copy of my prescription. I paid for anti-glare, anti-scratch and 1 yr warranty if they got scratched. We'll, glasses are scratched, they're saying I didn't pay for any of those things, so where did my hundreds of dollars go? Who did I pay? I wouldn't recommend this place to absolutely no one. Oh and they never even offered a replacement for the case they lost, because "they didn't have any that would meet my standards. I went in with a hard case they tried giving me a pouch. I just want my lenses fixed. Do NOT go there. read more

[665] This semi-new (less then 10 years old) Walmart is HUGE. Plenty of parking in this mini shopping mall. The store is huge and has so many items at a discounted price. I picked up a ton of items. I came in for 3 items and left with a ton. Unfortunately they don't have sugar free jello (ready made or boxed) so that was disappointing. Although if a Walmart of this size moved to my location I would not be disappointed. I wanted to give this place 4 stars but the parking lot was a mess. They need an overnight crew to clean the lots from the pigs that don't use a trash can. I'll definitely be back. read more

I used to always go to this Walmart in Garfield at my lunch hour because it was easy and quick. Now, it's a total nightmare. They have only 1-2 registers open on the Self Checkout and only like 3 or 4 cashiers. I went there yesterday and the lines were wrapping around. This has to be improved. Ok so this is the most convenient walmart to my home but I do have 2 others closeby (1 does not have a full grocery section though). My orders tend to default here and I really need to stop. Curbside pick up takes FOREVER. I've waited 30 minutes before just to be acknowledged. As I'm writing this I've been waiting for 20+ minutes along with other cars who arrived before or at the same time as me. I've been to other walmarts where curbside is super quick. I don't understand the delay if the order is already ready. I get staffing is an issue for a lot of places but I've seen like 3 employees step out at the same time. It bothers me more when they stand and chit chat as if they don't have a row of cars waiting for their order. Really wish I wouldn't have to drive out further for curbside but the amount of waiting time here I could go elsewhere plus the commute and be done before being acknowledged here. read more

This is the worst Walmart I've been in, and that's saying a lot. I had a shitty experience, literally shitty as there was feces smeared across the bakery floor. I'm not sure what the official policy is on letting animals in the store, but at least informally anyone can come in with anything. I almost slipped in the poop as I perused the croissants, and I thought, I sure hope that's chocolate frosting... NOPE. The poor employees were just like, another fine day at Walmart. When calling the next day to let the manager know and ask what the official animal policy is and to urge them to curtail this BS, no department picks up the phone, there's no way to leave a message. (Oh, and there was a guy screaming for security at the front entrance, doubtful anyone ever came to help him.) The lines here are pretty long regardless of the time of day, but Walmart is usually my go-to spot for anything beauty or skincare related because it usually beats the prices of Walgreens, CVS, etc. This location is the closest to me and it's 24/7, which is awesome, and parking is never an issue because the lot is huge. read more

When this store opened i had hope it would not become the disappointment Saddle Brook is. I was wrong it is worse. Every trip is a disaster and getting worse. Case in point i just left the store with nothing i originally came for a few things half and half was out. Looking for a few personal items with little or none on the shelf. This happens in stores but here is the worse part. Search the store for a price checker looked several locations they were all missing . Asked 2 employees who told me they dont speak english stocking shelves. They both have price guns they told me to look on the opposite end of the store but when i got there there also was no working machines Went looking for a supervisor but several employees i asked did not know who was in charge. Went there tonight (3/4) at 10:30 pm and was told by a man guarding the door they weren't letting anyone in even though they close at 11pm ! Not even a couple minutes later I see him allow two customers in. I know it's Walmart so I'm not expecting stellar service but you can't cherry pick who can and cannot come in. Walmart supercenter. The name says it all. Walmart is known for their rock bottom pricing and one stop shopping. What differentiates a supercenter from a regular store, I suppose, is a supercenter is open 24/7, has a grocery section, and has a larger selection of items than a regular Walmart does. I've read that Walmarts in different areas have car repair centers. Although, I've never seen one, I do know that this one definitely does not. Other than that, it pretty much has everything else, from groceries, to clothing, to beauty products, to houseware and appliances, to electronics. This store is both much cleaner and better stocked than the other Walmarts, in this area as well. This store can get crowded at times, the location is a bit out of the way, and the parking lot can get messy. These are generally the only reasons why I would not shop here for groceries. Off peak hours are the best times to go here, except for Sundays, of course, because half the store is roped off, due to the blue laws. The prices truly are rock bottom at Walmart and anything they do not have the cheapest pricing for, they will price match. Every once in a while, local grocery chains, will have better pricing on sale items, but overall Walmarts prices cannot be beat. read more

This place is awful. Half the time they don't have bags for your purchases. I've ordered delivery several times and not once have their drivers ever delivered to the correct house. In fact, they haven't been close. Once I had to walk three blocks in the dead of winter to find my groceries on someone else's porch. Today I was having a chrome book delivered and the idiot driver delivered it to a house on the other side of town. No one at the store answers the phone, so I can't even find out where it is. Im giving this review based off the rudest associate that Ive ever encountered. Her name is Briseyda and she was very unfriendly. So I purchased a tv and I noticed that she came across to my side and immediately pressed a button. So I asked her what did she just press and her response was "oh I declined it because most customers don't want that" Ok so here is my issue...#1 why would she NOT offer me a protection plan after I just purchased a tv. #2 Why would she assume that I didn't want to protect my tv that I just purchased? I honestly felt like like because I look young and Im black, that she profiled me. After I questioned her, she asked did I want to start over, and I said YES! I had her rescan my tv and then I purchased the plan that she initially bypassed. We have to be mindful of who we are servicing because you never know who is who. At the end of the day, I took my concerns to the manager, Jason, who listened and told me that he would handle my concerns. Happy Holidays, everyone. NAPOLEON!!! This place is not the best. But I went yesterday and was helped by an AWESOME staff member named Napoleon. He assisted me in the paint section. They didn't have any base paint but he was determined to help and found a solution to my problem. Give that man a raise because he deserves it. I would have given 5 stars because I love this store Its my number one place to go for shopping and I live 2 min away but never and I mean NEVER will I go and fill prescriptions at this pharmacy the head pharmacies at this location is so incredibly rude unprofessional and disgusting I actually had to have the garfield police show up to deal with him! If you show up with a prescription he doesn't like or feels like you shouldn't be taking he will call up and attempt to convince your doctor you don't need it and it should be cancelled who does that?? Also he yells at you in front of customers and public asks you why you are on specific medication in front of people. I find this store to be convenient & handy for finding practically anything plus it's always easy to park the lot is huge. I've also ordered from Walmart website & then 'picked up in store' saving me $$ on the shipping. I have gotten some great deals from here which is why I was pretty surprised to see some other reviewers gave it such a low star rating, but I'm sure they must have their own reasons. I like the bakery section here, there is so much to chose from. My husband & I walked around for at least 20 minutes in the bakery area because it was so hard to chose just one item, & we couldn't decide which one because so many looked good especially the cookie selections. I like that I can stop in and pick up random unrelated things like socks, to things for my dog, and groceries. My favorite thing of all are the great deals on ingredients for fall/winter holiday baking that Walmart has every year {things such as nuts, chocolate, coconut, sugars etc.}. I've been buying my holiday ingredients here every year for the past several years in preparation before Thanksgiving & Christmas. If I have anything negative to say, it's that sometimes the lines are long and a bit slow. read more
