I bought meat erev shabbos (Friday afternoon) to grill hamburgers on Sunday. The meat was rancid! Oozed foul smelling liquid, and smelt terrible even without opening package. As I live in Teaneck and shop there weekly, I went to the store to return and bring to their attention. They would not take responsibility and said I should not expect meat to last that long. EXCUSE ME?? Meat should last 5 days in the fridge. What a horrible experience. Had I cooked the meat, my entire family would have been sick. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT CEDAR MARKET AGAIN (it has been my go to for years) AND I STRONGLY SUGGEST THE SAME FOR YOU. Thier meat WILL make you sick, and the same for their customer service. I have read a number of the reviews of the Cedar Market and have a difficult time understanding all the negativity. We live in Florida and travel to this area a few times a year to visit our children and grandchildren, usually at Thanksgiving and Passover. We often have a big meal/Seder and need kosher food for our dinners. My wife calls ahead from Florida and when we finally arrive, everything we need is waiting for us. They are incredibly helpful, well organized, and totally pleasant to deal with. We would not think of going anywhere else for our Kosher food needs when we are in this area. This store has everything kosher that you could want. Love stopping by. Its well-kept,clean and organized. The workers are always friendly and efficient. The only issue is that they seem to allow way too many people inside the store at once. When i walked in i had to leave right away because i havent been in a store that allowed itself to get that crowded during this pandemic. When i went in a few months ago, they were doing a very good job with regulations. They only allowed people to go in for a certain amount of time, provided gloves and hand sanitizer and seemed to only allow a few people in at once. This needs to be brought back in this store for everyones safety- including the lovely workers who shouldnt be subject to these working conditions. Many minimum wage workers can not afford health insurance so their employers should at least try to ensure their safety during these times. Looking forward to coming back to this market when/if safety standards are brought back. read more

Girls that check you out could be nicer . I'm not Jewish nor a local I'm actually from New Mexico visiting for few months for work dropped in this place for some groceries . So organized and clean and good selection of produce and meat . But then I get to the counter and the cashier is a young Latin girl and she yells at me that I have to take stuff out of the basket which Is fine I just didn't know at my grocery store back home they ask you to leave it . So anyway she asks me if I have a store card and I said no and doesn't offer me one and never looks at me again I asked her if I could get one and she acted like she didn't hear me . She then rudely yells at me and tells me my total . Then turns around and tells the other girl standing next to her in Spanish that " this stupid girl is taking so long " I'm a linguistics analyst in middle eastern languages, in Mexican dialect Spanish , Catalan and Spanish and South American dialects I heard what you said about me girl I heard you . read more

My rights as an American citizen were stripped when I was asked to produce papers and was denied service despite explaining that I can't wear a mask due to a medical condition. The employee didn't even know what the ADA (American with Disabilities Act) is and how it is here to protect people. I bought chopped chicken livers for the holiday. The product was not fresh, or edible. When I tried to return the item, I was given a hard time. Where was my receipt, they asked. I explained that when I buy food, I expect it to be fresh, and that I don't save receipts. Customer service had to get approval for a 5 dollar refund, and then, only a store credit. I will not be going back there again. Remember to save your receipts when shopping here. read more

I am addicted to this store and am thankful that they remain open late in the evenings. I've now visited about 10 times and have been buying their freshly prepared foods. I like that they have a choice of raw salmon, fully cooked salmon, and raw salmon that's covered in various sauces (with attached cooking instructions). Everything's been fresh when I bring it home, but I don't buy anything that expires in a day or two, and I try to eat the prepared foods well before the expiration date. read more

Very poor customer service. On hot days store won't even give ice in a bag to take perishables home. Luckily it has competition in town.

I'm so happy with the quality of every item I've ever bought and I buy most of my family's groceries here. Just to check, I tend to visit other stores and each time I'm disappointed by the other stores' quality and wonder why I even bothered. The sales are amazing! As long as you are a flexible shopper, you can find enough on sale to keep you going for the week. The delivery service is wonderful, the best part is that they call to confirm. I would give a higher rating if they didn't make mistakes at checkout. Several times I was overcharged and once the cashier had her hand on the scale, not even noticing when the one plum I was buying rang up as $5. I think they could use better management and more competent cashiers, but overall it's better than other local kosher markets. Just watch the register. One huge plus is the parking lot. While parking is not lacking in other market locations, they are mostly municipal, here the lot is only for this store so parking is very close to the store. Another plus is that they have regular sales in the meat department which in and of itself is worth shopping there. read more

What a terrible store. The manager is horrible. There is no service to speak of. The store is way too small. They think we are all out to scam them. They won't let you use your phone number you must have your Cedar card with you. I wish someone would open another Kosher supermarket in Teaneck. read more

Great produce selection, very varied. The bakery is tops. Still waiting for them to get a deli counter going as I love take out. Ambiance is good and aisles are wide. Conveniently across the street from Amazing Savings but the town really needs to put in a crosswalk. So far parking has not been an issue. read more

Cedar Market is a very refreshing addition to Teaneck. The store is amazing !! It is immaculate & the produce is always fresh & crisp. Their prices are fair & competetive. The store is laid out in a way that makes it very easy to shop. The meat department is fabulous. Everything is super fresh & they always have new items to try. I just bought a stuffed rolled veal that was Delicious !!! Their bakery department is also great. Everything comes from Brooklyn fresh. My favorite is the poppy seed roll. Also my family loves the small cheese mini danish. Not to mention the sushi that is fresh & delicious..I could go on & on. This store is clean, well-stocked, and incredibly well-staffed. Anytime I have a question for a staff member about where a product is located, the staff member walks me over to the place where the product is instead of just pointing. Also, the meat department has been very helpful in getting me the cuts I need. On the other hand, every time I go, there is always something on my shopping list that is out of stock, including advertised specials. I'm hoping that as they better track shopping trends of their customers, their in-stock track record will improve. read more

Well everyone deserves more than one chance so I went back to Cedar market again because they had advertised chicken cutlets for $3.99 a pound. When I got there they were $5.99 a pound and I asked about it even showing the circular to the manager. He said the sale was only for a few packages and they didn't have any left. I asked if the packages were old or stale and that's why they were getting rid of them, and he just shrugged his shoulders and told me that these packages that were currently in the showcase (which were there on a late Friday afternoon) would be on sale on Sunday. EWWWWWW Don't let anyone tell you that the meat here is fresh because obviously it isn't. We also asked about a few different cuts of meat that were on sale in the circular but labeled at a much higher price in the showcases. Again he said that he doesn't have them and won't give any rain checks. I have been told by some meat distributors that the beef in this store comes from South America and is always frozen so it is not as fresh as Cedar Market says it is. That explains why some friends of mine bought some allegedly fresh meat here a few months ago and when they opened it up when they came home it all was brown and gray on the underside and had freezer burn. Going back to Best Glatt across the street or Glatt Express where at least I know the beef is fresh and they don't pull a bait and switch with the prices. read more

They did not honor the posted price on wafers. The (rude) store manager admitted the mistake but refused to honor the posted price. They ended up charging me $1.25 instead of $1 per unit. Stay away from them!! read more
