This is one of the largest stores I have ever been to. It was almost like a mall in itself. This compared to "Jungle Jim's" in Cininnati. All that was missing was a miniature train! There was abundant staff helping patrons. The place even with all the patrons was very well organized. The floors were all clean. Shelves were all stocked. We wanted to buy Ian a fidget spinner to keep him occupied during the Bay Area trip. An associate went out of her way to help us with it. She even rang us up at the electronics area itself. They have an eye care center, ear care center, insurance, a small arcade, Nails, Money Gram and a McDonalds inside this Walmart. Wear your exercise shoes when you arrive at this Walmart and have a good workout walking this small city like store! read more

As Walmart's go.. this one is generally the same as all the others.. the prices are climbing on nearly every single item.. and not slowly either.. (close to a dollar more per item every time). Also, there is rarely a cashier to help you check out, although there seems to be plenty of workers standing around in the self check area seeming to be doing nothing. The customer service area always closes sooner then the hours listed, which is frustrating when you are trying to return an item. There is also quite often a lack of inventory. I advise you to check food expiration dates as I have seen many food items for sale that have expired. I also had a frustrating experience where I wanted to buy a certain vacuum cleaner that had two identical floor models (one of which the empty box was right below it). A worker asked a supervisor if I could buy one and just put it back in the box and they refused to sell it. This made absolutely no sense to me at all. I do not recommend shopping at this Walmart if you have another option. The one decent thing about it is that the restrooms are kept pretty clean. read more

I went to the Gilroy's Walmart early this morning to beat the possible crowd for holiday weekend. I shopped and wanted to get 4 liters of Mug Rootbeer BUT could not reach them because they were located in the back of the two lines of their racks. I asked a few people with blue vests/employees but they declined. So I went to pay for my items and asked the cashier to please call to get me the liters of soda but she did not have access to call anyone. She suggested I go to the service desk. Someone was helping do a return, Maria, and then she could assist me. Another Walmart employee came. Up to her so I asked her to please call someone to help me but she said she couldn't????? Maria became available to assist me and my items were rung up but I informed the cashier I would wait for the soda I requested the soda's before I pay the bill. Maria asked if I could show her where the soda was and then she searched for someone to assist her because we could not reach the soda. Jesus came to our rescue and got the soda. ACCOLADES TO MARIA AND JESUS for their courteous support to help me out. These two workers were WONDERFUL! read more

Walmart really needs to work on its curbside pickup process. Hugely frustrating and it would have just been faster to go inside and do my shopping. There's zero signage for where to park and the check-in on the app was broken anyway. So I went inside and stood in the customer service line for 15 min to ask if I could just pick up my items there. They said no, I had to wait in my car and told me I needed to call the phone number posted on the curbside pickup parking spots if the app isn't working. I asked them where the parking spots are, and they're apparently way over on the side of the building (not really curbside.) So now I'm sitting in my car at the curbside pickup, just called the number, and it rang forever and went to voicemail. read more

Everything that is locked up takes forever for someone to come and help. Plus at least one call box is unhooked and just leaning against the column. Went there today to do some shopping. My husband needed socks. The men socks were locked up. We tried ringing for assistance to no avail. Spoke to two sales staff to no avail. Waited 15 minutes & finally went to Customer Service & spoke to Team Leader. She didn't have key access to the locked cabinets & couldn't find someone with key access. She informed me that I would have to wait until after 3 pm (another 20 minutes) before there would be some with key access. This is NOT customer service. What's the point of having the stuff locked up & not have someone on duty the full time the store is open to unlock the cabinets fir the customer. I'm surprised by the bad reviews for this Walmart location. I live on the peninsula. We have one Walmart -- the location in Mountain View. I am highly critical of that store. Compared to that location, this is an AMAZING location. In fact, this location is so nice that I will make the drive from Palo Alto to Gilroy just to shop here. I like the concept of finding so many things (often difficult to find or find in stock elsewhere) under one giant roof. Plus, there are enough reasons to visit Gilroy to cap off the experience. Don't come to Walmart and expect it to be Bloomingdale's. However, this is a very good, clean and well-stocked location for a Walmart Supercenter. read more

Management had eliminated self-checkout so add another 10-15 minutes to get out of store. It was done due to theft but they never have security in the store and I doubt they even prosecute theft when the person is caught. They'd rather hire 30-40 more checkers and inconvenience the customer base. read more

It's 5:30PM on a Wednesday - way before the holiday. The store is practically empty (1 to 2) customers on each of the approximate 10 open registers. CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS A LINE 15 PEOPLE DEEP WITH ONLY ONE OF THE 4 REGISTERS OPEN!! See photos (not the restocking carts but the others - I left out the faces for privacy). And then to boot, the are calling customer service to pick up on line 1 - ONE REGISTER AND WORKER ONLY to stop what she is doing (THE LINE OF 15 CUSTOMERS WAITING) to take the phone call!!! This updated review is for Saturday, May 27, 2017 - Automotive Center When checking in, I requested a synthetic oil change. In addition, I specifically asked her to check the transmission fluid to see if I needed to replenish. She explained that with all of the oil change services (excluding the "Pit Crew"), they automatically check the transmission fluid. Since it was extremely busy, the estimated wait time was 1 1/2 hours. After two hours, my car was ready for pick up. No problem. When I got to the car to review their assessment of my vehicle, I noticed that they looked at several different areas of my car including the tires. They marked each tires PSI. Other items read, "Checked" and next to at least one of the fluids, it read indicated that the level was fine. However, when it listed the transmission fluid, it read, "not applicable". So of course, I'm thinking it should read "Checked", "adequate" or "replaced". Not applicable makes me think that they didn't even check it. After connecting back with the center, I was informed that they didn't have the proper tool to test the transmission fluid level. I thought, hmm, I believe I've checked it before myself and I don't have any special tools. So when my car cooled, I checked. It doesn't require a special tool. It's like a normal dipstick, except when you pull it out, the metal piece isn't completely straight. No additional tool is needed to check the transmission fluid level. You just pull it out like you would when you check your engine oil. Shame on you Walmart. You get an additional star for offering a reasonable price on a synthetic oil change. read more

Yelp says this location is temporarily closed, but it's not. This is a great way to get your groceries without leaving your car! I have been using their curbside pickup services, where you park off the side of the parking lot and they bring your groceries to your car. I have been able to purchase food as well as other household items here, great service. read more

This place has been on a decline since before COVID. Customer service is almost non existent. Cashiers are a rarity. They expect you shop for items, ring it up and bag it yourself. It you refuse to they only give you one cashier for every 20 customers in line. read more

I have to say i mostly shop here for my groceries and i always will because the prices are soo cheap. I will say that i do purchase my produce at nob hill and my larger quantity items at smart n final but overall i always end up here for the prices. Ive ran different tests at different places from quality and price. I love to cook so i usually buy more or less the same things month to month. Ive found the produce at nob hill is the best. If you need large quantities of items i recommend smart and final. Then my simple canned goods and bread i get from 99cent city. Everything else from Wal-Mart. Doing my grocery shopping this way has been most sufficient. I have a family of four to feed and i found this to be an easy way. Unless you have a costco card than its mostly costco and grocery outlet i noticed. Overall I only spend $350 a month on groceries! Thanks walmart. read more

I love Walmart and this store has great selection. What I despise is the only option I have to check out is self check out. If I wanted to work here, I would apply for a job. Do you need any trucks unloaded or carts pushed in from the parking lot while I am at it? There was one actual checker with a huge line who was moving so slow I was not sure if she was awake. The self check out lines on both sides of the store were huge and there were tons of closed self check out lines which seemed to defeat the purpose of self check out to me. So not only do I have to check out and bag all my stuff, I have to wait to do it. Give me a discount or something for doing it or make it easy or something other than what it is. Worst Walmart/McDonald's everrr. My car had a flat tire so we decided to go to Walmart and this was by far the worst Walmart experience everrrrr! Mind you I am not a fan of Walmart. First mechanic told me it was an hour to get a tire change with 2 cars ahead. Another mechanic said it was more than an hour after we had gotten a quote. So decided to go assuming it would take a bit over an hour long. So by killing time we went inside Walmart and tried to ask for a bathroom from a staff and she was RUDE so decided to walk off to find it ourselves. Then went to the McDonald's section to order some food and the cashier was rude and apparently did not know how the McDonald's app coupon was used. Wanted to use a coupon from app but couldn't because she apparently does not know how to use it and gets her food for free (mind you she was saying this in a rude way). Now, we were shopping for some items but needed some batteries and asked a few staff where batteries were and we went through a few staff trying to find where the batteries were and literally walked around the whole store 3 times in search for some batteries to find out that they were by the front cashiers. Anyways, at the end of our time here, we had to wait 3 hours to get 1 tire changed and they ended up changing 2 tires that we did not want. Horrible customer service. I called to check on an item in stock and was placed on hold for over 15 minutes. When I called back I was hung up on and then returned another call asked for a manager and again was hung up on. I called the main line again and asked for Electronics instead of customer service and was then placed on hold yet again. Corporate needs to make random calls to stores to see what kind of service is being provided. This is exactly why most people no longer deal with Walmart and prefer other stores such as Target. I tried calling this location for some items that my local store doesn't carry, yet it takes more than 30 mins to get someone on the other line. What's worse is that once transferred to another department I was placed on hold for another 20 mins. I mean what a customer service!? The store staff are lazy and unprofessional. I was on hold for 40 mins while they "looked" for an item. Called back multiple times and they keep hanging up on me after it rings for 4-5 mins. Last year I went in and was literally waiting in the alcohol section for 20 mins hitting the button for assistance that they kept turning off. So apparently the new policy at the Gilroy Walmart is only ONE regular check stand is open at a time. I asked the woman directing folks why only one was open when there were 9 people waiting? She said they want people to use the self checkout. If you have alcohol, which I did, they tell you to use the self checkout for everything else and then go to customer service to pay for the alcohol. It looks like they're either trying to layoff employees or cut hours. Not good! read more

Do not get a oil change here!!!!!! Price might be great but there is a reason. A few months back I got a " oil change " / " oil filter" lol I am mechanically inclined came here for the price! I put a mark on my oil filter to ensure it was changed and they didn't change it! All they did was brake clean it and wipe it off. Then I googled it and found countless reports of them doing this! I was scammed like the line of people that think they are getting a deal! But the best part was when I said let me see the video tape they wouldn't let me! The manager said you have to trust me! Just a heads up to any RV's passing through. Signs all around the lot say no RV or Truck parking at anytime! I saw 20 large pickup trucks larger than my RV in the lot. I Can understand no overnight parking, but what about those of us needing supplies? My RV is 25 feet long is all and fits in two spots just fine. On road trips we stop quite often at wallmarts, no longer. Again I don't want to live there just get some groceries. read more

The pharmacy, home goods and baking area were messy, items were fallen onto the floor, there were shelves not properly stocked. Upon getting ready to check out they didn't have enough employees at the register areas. The lines were long and when I needed help at the self check no one was there to help me. Yes, the baking items (bob's red mill flour, sugar, baking soda) are cheaper than the other local grocery stores but it's not worth the long lines, aggravation and lack of customer service to pay a dollar or two less.
