Like many 'folks' in Texas, I found myself a slave to the giant WalMart. Oh sure, I bitched and complained when I moved out to Valley Ranch in 1998 and there were no businesses around and I think at that time the closest WalMart was in Denton. Then the Wal Mart gods smiled on me and built this store right across the street from my apartments. Hm. This place drove me insane. I had a love/hate relationship with it. Let's start with the grocery store part. I cannot believe how so many 'generic' items this Wal Mart would not stock. Just your basic stuff, you know? So frustrating to just want a simple Hamburger Helper or some crap like that and you have to pick between tuna or chicken helper... with all 50 flavors. Gross. The pharmacy is always understaffed and has a waiting line of hours. HOURS I tell you!! I'm not an unhealthy person, but I did find myself in a situation last winter where I was sick enough to go to the doctor and needed some basic antibiotics etc. etc. etc. and even after the doctor had called in my order early enough in the afternoon, i still found myself sitting on the little bench, coughing up a lung at 8:45pm wondering if I would ever get that medication. There are never enough cashiers... so it was nice when they put in 'do it yourself' registers.. because everyone stands in line and thinks 'well crap, I could check myself out faster than this girl who obviously doesn't give a damn'. No, no you can't. That made it worse. So what did wal mart do? They took even more cashiers away and the lines were even longer! The sick, sick part of it all is that I recently moved to Boston, MA.... and there are no Wal Marts around.. and I freakin' miss it. It's a dysfunctional relationship. read more

The physical store is alright; not the best Wal-Mart, not the worst. It's always busy. The automotive center though... I waited over an hour for an oil change and there was only one car ahead of me. The girl at the register was very sweet and apologetic for the long wait, so I let it go. Sometimes crap happens right? No use getting worked up over it. All things considered, I got to sit in a quiet air conditioned room and play games on my phone. I've spent an hour doing worse things. However, when I got back into my car, there was so much oil on the steering wheel, door handle, and gearshift, I couldn't drive because I couldn't properly grip the wheel. I understand garages are dirty, I understand these mechanics are working very hard in hot conditions, but please wash your hands, slip on some disposable gloves, or wipe down the car after you're in it. I was going to go inside and ask for a wet wipe or something (I can clean it up myself, I'm not a total baby), and ask the department manager to let her employees know they should be mindful of any mess they leave behind because someone could stroll in with a Lexus and pitch a real fit if their car was left like mine was... but the doors were all closed and locked and not a soul in sight. read more

My recent experience at this Walmart reminded me why I stopped shopping at Walmart years ago. Sadly, no other stores carried the item I needed so I was forced to shop here. Customer service is terrible. I tried picking up an item with curbside pickup, but the item was damaged. I asked if there was another one to replace it with, so they took the damaged item back inside to check. It was the last one. I said: okay so how do I get a refund since you already marked that I picked this item up? They told me their manager said to go inside the store. I waited in the customer service line only to be told they couldn't refund me without the product in hand. I tried explaining that they took the damaged item back and told me to just come inside. The customer service woman told me that I had to get back in my car (after waiting in line for 30 minutes), drive back to curbside pickup, find the unknown Walmart employee at an unknown door, retrieve the item, and then come back inside. Nope, sorry not doing that. I asked several times if they could just call the curbside pickup manager until they budged. Wasted 45 minutes of my life today and came home empty handed. Worst Walmart I been too and it's in the Las Colinas area. Had 7 items so I stood in the 10 or less item line as I was putting my things down and at same time try to put the packed bags into my cart the cashier told me "move your shit down for me". I hadn't even had a chance to turn around to do it for her. She could have used a more nicer language. I told her I was sorry and told her it wasn't nice to use that language. I guess it's true what everyone else is saying. Staff here is rude and lazy as heck. Our problem started with the cashier. We bought some wine and my sister pulled her ID out in advance right before she scanned the wine. She showed her when asked and the cashier says "no". At this point we are confused. Mind you she's 23 and I'm 26. So she does some calculating in her head and explains to us that when purchasing alcohol we need to show ID..... Ummm wait, hold on, we did do just that.... WTF?! She then scans our stuff and proceeds on.... Ummmmk.... Then she decides to close the entire lane and cut off all the other people who waited behind us. Just recently discovered that Cashiers are not deducting all coupons at checkout. I caught 2 mistakes on my last trip there on Friday. I discovered a 3.00 mistake while still in the parking lot so I was able to go back in and return the items that the coupon was not used on. I discovered another 3.00 coupon that was not used after I had already returned home. Now I will need to take that item back also. I have suspected that this has happened in the past, but did not do anything about it. I do not know the reasoning behind not using a customers coupons, but I could probably guess. I will be checking my receipt now every time I use coupons before I step away from the cashier. I should not have to do this. Or, I will use self check out, or I will just take my business to Krogers. read more

The benefit of this location is that its open 24/7. If you are trying to fix your girlfriend's plumbing (seriously though, nothing dirty like that...), and its 1am, well, this is a helpful place to stop by. I have a love-hate relationship with this place. I love Walmart for the prices but I hate the customer service. I have had several encounters where the advertised price did not match the price at the register. Conducting a price match at Walmart is the worst experience. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes for someone to confirm the price of your item. When you shop at Target price checks are completed immediately. Another thing I hate about Walmart is the self-checkout. Please tell me why you have only self checkout lanes open in the morning between 8am - 9am on a Sunday? I love watching the employee lurk over you while you try to pretend to be a cashier. I'm sorry I just spent $150 at Walmart I don't want to scan and bag my groceries. They definitely beat most of the grocery stores and in the price Department but for service they are at the bottom. read more

This particular WalMart is HUGE. So huge that it's hard to find what you need! I was looking for a particular toy, and every person I talked to here was working in their own section of the store so it was hard going from one employee to another employee looking for something. I will say that the checkout lines are pretty good. I've been to Kroger and Target at the same time and those checkout lines are horrendous, so it was a nice change to only have to wait 2 minutes at WalMart. read more

It is 24 hours which comes in handy if you work all day and don't have time to go to other stores that close at around 10 or 11. The only problem I have in this store is that when it gets really crowded with really long lines they should open more cash registers to make the lines go a little bit more smoothly. And if you have to pick something up that you ordered online don't go first thing in the morning if you do you are going to be waiting for about an hour for someone to come out and talk to you. But other then that the store is clean and everyone here is nice. read more

Ok as far as WalMart's go this is a great store. Gave A-ok rating because check out usually takes a REALLY long time any time of day you go. I've found sometimes the self check outs can be fast but usually there is something that an employee will need to come and do on the touch screen before check out. Word of warning if ordering groceries online and going to pick them up. I ordered groceries and picked them up on October 13. They put a hold on my visa for the funds... which is perfectly normal and acceptable, except they did not release the funds and then charged me again. It is now five days later and they still have not released the funds even though they have already billed me for the groceries I picked up. So now instead of being debited for $203 I am being debited for $406. That's an extra $203 that they have held for five days and they tell me that this is normal operating procedure. So what I'm hearing is it's normal to be charged twice as much for your groceries and it is normal for them to hold onto the extra funds for five or six days ....so for what?So they can get interest on the extra money? I don't know about you but I can't afford for them to take an EXTRA $203 from me and keep it for almost a week.... can YOU? read more

I don't go to Walmart a lot, but when I need particular things (such as a fishing license), they're there, and there's almost always one close. This one seems to be an older one. The parking lot's not level, but it is massive. There's a lot of traffic over in this area. I noticed they don't take care of the carts much, so there's always a bunch out front huddled in little cart parties where the elevation is low. The staff are always friendly but I didn't see many for as busy as the store was. Speaking of busy, this store is always busy... regardless of time or day. At 11p on Friday each lane was at least 4 people deep. The selection at this store isnt as vast compared to some of the larger Walmart Supercenter in the DFW metroplex. Additionally, because the store is so busy, a lot of items are picked over so they might be limited on particular varieties. However, it should have most of what you need. read more

The thing I find most irritating is the employees who block your path and ignore you or, even worse, walk right out into your path without looking where they are going. Oh Walmart. So familiar yet so different. I finally understand what people mean about Walmart as a department store, this one had a nail salon and a few other stores in the front of it. It has a warehouse-y feel to it too. There was a small line at the 2 redbox machines out front and I'm pretty sure we shopped for at least an hour to grab all the necessities before we get all our stuff from the moving truck tomorrow. The pet aisle is sadly small but we were able to get some basics for our kitchen that needed to be replaced and a super cheap pillow for me. Everyone here looked like they hated their life or maybe I was just overly excited to start experiencing our new life in a new place. I'm not a fan of being somewhere where everyone is just negative. We ended up spending $300 on the basics. Which I suppose is easy to do when you're just living out of a suitcase for 2 weeks during a move. Walmart's low prices add up! Went in to buy money order for rent and tried to use 2 separate payment (debit card). I used the first for $500 and the remainder for $350 but some reason it asked for CSM (which is manager) . I wanted to wait see why but the girl at the register (Andrea she is black) cancels the transaction. I then check the balance on my card and the $500 was pulled from my account. I then asked for receipt but her and also a manager who was near by told me it would take time. I know for a fact if it's a debit transaction that it would reverse back into my account. I went shopping inside the store and waited to see if the $ went back yet. I know it's the weekend and credit usually takes time to refund. So I left the store.... Driving home I thought bout it and I said no way this is right. I proceeded back to the store got another manager to check, get me a receipt but he went in and found the transaction. He saw that it was refunded as a cash transaction... He counted the register and realize that it was $500 over. Gave me $500 cash and didn't say sorry or nothing. Fucking Walmart needs to train these fucking imbecile to be better customer representatives .. Especially managers. Honestly if you live near another Walmart go to the ghettoes location. I guarantee you will find basically all items cheaper then in the nicer locations. read more
