Why every time I go to this Walmart I feel like I'm being punked? You can find great sales and items at all Walmart Stores, its just this Walmart seems a bit possessed by something I just can't quite put my toe on. But however if you go when they first open you can get through it fine in and out no problem. If you wait till the sun comes completely up, you will need a negotiator to talk you through. LOL. The workers are all certified zombies the managers are heavy medicated the checkout cashiers are blind I am telling you this is no hearsay but the truth. You need a priest, interpretor, a navigator, a body amour and counseling when you come out. Nobody seems to know anything the check out aisles are always long and nano slow and people will walk, talk and kazachok all over you. But I recommend this Walmart because after all some people do well under pressure and some love great challenges but to love this Walmart you have to be a bit challenged yourself. Attention Walmart Maplewood managers your store needs a serious face-lift hire real people and clean up before you close at night and check those gosh awful bathrooms I saw a gremlin run into one of the bathroom stalls with a TV. There will always be stuff that I need to buy which will be easiest to find at a Walmart, and unfortunately in all of Saint Louis this is the closest one to me. For a Walmart, it's really running below standards. The layout is awful, there always seems to be random boxes all over the place, it can be pretty tight in most of the aisles because there's just so much crap that they put in between, and products are in disarray which often leads to a missing tag thus not knowing how much something costs. I loathe this store. Checking out is almost impossible, since they typically only have three of their 25 registers operating at any given time - and each of these is filled with stupendously obese, loud-mouthed locals with shopping carts packed full of hundreds of food items. I have yet to encounter a cashier with the slightest sense of urgency. Though their lines are filled with customers pushing carts that couldn't accept another ounce of cargo without rupturing, they handle each item from their current customer as though they're on an archelogical dig, and the item in question a fragile and rare thing that must be meticulously studied, rung in and then slowwwwwwwly put in the bag. Compounding the matter, they like to stop and chat in the middle of this agonizing and glacier-like process. And the merry-go-round shopping bag devise gives them all trouble. The hot food counter is a similar war crime. Three or four sullen men standing in the background doing nothing while their co-worker does her "Barbershop" routine with every customer ahead of you. Yesterday, I stood for 10 minutes while she chit-chatted with two old dingbats, and finally, I left. This Walmart seems to have no interest in customer service. read more

Went in at 7am on a Sunday and the bathrooms were worse than a truck stop in the middle of Kansas at three am. They claimed to have just cleaned the floors. Doubtful. There was shit on the floor next to the clean floor sign and tp all over the floor. Two stalls were permanently closed because it looked like someone had shit all over the inside. Wasn't greeted or thanked by the "greeters" because they am were too busy talking about hair and nails. This is the worst Walmart in the STL area. read more

I can't say that I have ever had a problem shopping here. Maybe I am not picky like other people or maybe I just don't shop here enough to see the craziness(I come to Walmart rarely, it is far away from where I live). I like this place because I get socks and undies for cheap, and also my personal hygiene stuff like body wash and etc too. I don't know if it is that I just love Walmart, I like the deals on the items that I need, or that I just enjoy the feeling of spending all my money on little things, but I like shopping here. It does seem to bring me so much joy in getting my necessities without hurting my bank account. The other thing about Walmart is that they have so many impulse items bins and discounted items that I always seem to leave with crap that I didn't come here for because I didn't know I wanted them in the first place. I remember buying like a freaking pizza pan and other dishes just because of the low price. I go crazy and start foaming at the mouth when I see little knick-knacks for a cheap price. You would have think I have never seen a sale before. *Bottom line: - I haven't had a rude checker or bad interaction with a Walmart employee or experienced the crazy long lines that the other yelpers speak of. I haven't seen any clutter or dirty areas. Maybe I am coming here at the right times, but those few times I do come here is on weekends in the early afternoon. I would reason that to be a time of high traffic for any store so if there was some clutter I would expect it to be during those times. Do not visit the tire center! Out of town and 3 hours plus to fix a tire! We were told 1 hour upon arrival. Had we been given an accurate estimate, we would not have waited. This has to be the worst Walmart in St. Louis. I came here to get my tire changed before I had to work at 11. I got here at 9am and there were hardly any cars waiting. It's now 11:03 and I'm late for work. I would have came earlier but I didn't think it would take 2 hours to change a tire. Don't ever get your oil changed here! They installed my oil filter wrong which basically meant that I had no oil going to my engine. This cause damage to my engine and serious noises. I had to go to a separate auto mechanic to get it fixed. I'm lucky nothing more serious happened to me and my car based on their lack of experience. Pay the money somewhere else! DO NOT under any desparate circumstances use the Wal Mart Auto center. I was hesitant at the idea initially, but ultimately thought it would be pretty hard to mess up an oil change. Boy was I wrong. After running out of things to look at in the store after an hour and a half, I go back to the auto area to check on my car. I am told it is still in the queue. I point out that I think I see my car parked off to the side in the parking lot, and clearly no longer in the pull up queue where I left it. But as I look closer, I note to the cashier that perhaps that is not my car, because it has a donut on it. The "mechanic" or whatever you call the Wal Mart equivalent comes in and tells me that the tire is bald and they can't let me drive it off the lot. At this point things get a little blurred as I scream for a manager and tell them I was in for an oil change, not a tire issue, as my tires are only 2 years old. They ultimately tell me they have confused me with another customer. When I got home, I noticed an odd chunk cut out of the side wall of my tire. I also had to deflate the tires as they has been aired up to around 40-45 psi, and had to properly secure the donut back into how it is supposed to sit in my trunk. None of this makes any sense for a car mix up- where they believed my 2 yr old tire to be too bald to drive on!? And why would they put a donut on prior to talking to me or this other person about it!? I had the manager put in writing that Wal Mart would replace any damaged to the tire caused by this, but fat chance that's ever going to happen. I will be taking the car to my dealership to see if that tire now needs to be completely replaced. I strongly believe something very shady and illegal is going on in that Auto center, and I cannot stress enough to never take your car here. read more

Went to return 3 items with a receipt, did the proper procedures to head to the service desk. Both registers tied up with problems! After waiting 15 min I loudly asked for the manager and was told she was right at the next register? The woman finally asked the man with the problem to step aside to wait for additional help with his problem. Finally I moved up for ,my return, never got a "sorry for your wait" or anything. So understaffed, so inefficient, their systems for returns are antiquated and the staff unhelpful. Will never purchase anything that might possibly need returning...Sams club is the same. They could careless how long you wait in line for anything. read more

I am very bummed out about my experience with the Walmart Pharmacy. Trying to fill a prescription here was challenging to say the least. I dropped off a prescription 2 months ago and the pharmacist told me the medication would be ready in a couple weeks and they would call when it was ready. After not hearing from them for a month, I call. Its still not ready. They still plan on calling when it is. After another week, I call again. It is still not ready. They still plan on calling when it is. After 2 more weeks I call again. This time they say they filled it but because i never came to pick it up, they unfilled it. I asked why they did not call. They say they needed my phone number in order to call me and that she could take my phone number now so I can get phone calls about prescriptions in the future. How was this overlooked in my other 3 conversations when they told me they would call when it was ready? One of the worst parts is that every pharmacist I talked to over the phone seemed exasperated with me even though I never complained but simply asked for information. I will definitely be filling my prescriptions elsewhere in the future. read more

I have shopped at Walmart for years. When I travel, I look for Walmart if I forget to bring an item. I have never seen a store so poorly set up or mis-managed. Worst Walmart I've ever shopped. Most of the pharmacy staff are rude and completely ignorant. I don't know how the managers here keep their jobs. Man O Man !!! can someone tell me what ALLEY this Walmart pulled their workers from??? most of the workers display NO home training, I have never received a hello, thank you, or smile from any of the cashiers. When you ask the location of an item, they will point, if they do anything. One young lady had a head rag on at work, the kind you would wear to bed ?? Theres a reason id rather pay a few pennies more to shop at target. This particular walmart is really unorganized. And they only ever have 2 people working the registers but still closed the self checkout line right before i was up (literally, the person in front of me was the cutoff) even though I had a WHOLE one item. Thank you maplewood walmart lady. I REALLY enjoy waiting in a line of 20 people to literally buy my one cartridge of printer ink. And then when I tried to leave they shut the exit door in my face. There was no one around but the walmart guy still made me walk around the entire walmart to go out the other exit, and wasn't even polite about it. Walmart should invest more in their customer service, cuz they lost this customer. A few extra pennies are definitely worth me having the shorter lines and good customer service at the nearby Target. This location needs to be shut down, Restaffed and then re-opened. They did just get a new Store Manager and St. Louis Also got a new District Manager (Rhonda) whose office is at the Telegraph Location if any of you have trouble with this store you can call Rhonda. I had a bad experience here, I even called Bentonville AR, headquarters and complained there. They tried to offer a gift card, which wasnt the resolution I was looking for so Thanks but No Thanks, something needs to be done with this store. I had horrible customer service, was called names, profane language was used, and even the CSM started problems being rude and belittling. Then I asked for the highest manager on duty. Was told his name and told he was somewhere in the store and I could go find him. Well I looked around and found him by the meat dept. When we asked if his name was Robert, he said "I guess, what do u need" So I said, do you guess your Robert or are you Robert the Assistant Store Manager? Again he said the same thing. I simply said "I can see this isnt going to go anywhere I will just take it up with the Store Manager in the morning and Bentonville, AR. He says as im walking away "You really think a complaint is gonna fucking do anything to me". I just kept walking. So the next morning I head up to the store to talk to the store manager, this time, I didnt know what to expect so I went ahead and brought my recording device and glad i did. I asked for the manager to the CSM, she stated the manager was around here somewhere and that I can go find her, it wasnt her job to keep tabs on her boss and she wasnt calling (this is all on tape) her for me. So i told her that I talked to Bentonville, AR and they said they sent this Manager an email to expect me this morning and could she please call her...now she told me that I could have Bentonville to call or I could go find her myself. Which I walked away and did. I Found the store manager in a manager meeting in the isle and spoke with her. Now she was very nice. I told her about my experience and she was very understanding. I am thinking that people in this area complain to get gift cards, cause she jumped right to that. I said that wouldnt be necessary and explained not only did this happen last night here is the recorded encounter that just took place. I played the recording and she insisted that she would take care of the problem and I should take the gift card, i just told her I would be following this issue through the investigation process and I know HR Issues arent public so I know I couldnt know the outcome but I wanted to know this was taken serious. I contacted Rhonda who said she would investigate this also. I also called back to Bentonville and let them know about todays incident and advised her that I will be following this issue thru. Still waiting to hear back. These people need retrained. This place is in ruins and is a risk for the Walmart company. Bulldozer and remodel with new staff. That should work. read more

The Tire Center, was the worst car experience I have ever had. Stripped my tire lock. Couldn't pull my dipstick out to change my oil. Took 4 5minutes to figure out what tires are supposed to go on my simple American made car. I will never return. I spent all day there and ended up having to take my business elsewhere. read more

This place is disgusting! I hate to admit, but I've shopped at other Walmarts, and while I dislike the thought of Walmart in general, they do have most of what I'm shopping for all in one location. But the Maplewood store is awful... crowded aisles, kids popping out of carts or running around screeching, sales associates wandering around looking for their buddies to chat with, long lines at the checkout, and, did I mention that it just didn't look clean? At Christmas, we purchased a dvd and when we took it home and opened the package, it was scratched. We took the receipt and the movie back and the customer service person told me to go find another one. After looking high and low, and finally getting someone to help, we were told it was a promotional item and they had all been sent back to the manufacturer. So, back to customer service I went, and stood in line for an eternity while the employees visited with each other and caught up on what they were doing that night. Finally, after about 10 minutes of watching this, I was again waited on and told they couldn't refund our money, but would give us a gift card in that amount. I would almost rather go to the dentist and get all my teeth pulled with no novacaine than go to this walmart. read more

I void this place like the plague. It is a mad house. People that shop here are disgusting and fat. People that work here don't know where to tell you to find anything. They are not very helpful. A few weeks ago, when it got very cold at night, my heater was not working so I went to find a space heater at Walmart. They said they were out of them because it is a seasonal item. So I left and tried to call two other walmarts, who didn't answer the phone after they hung up on me because they didn't know how to get someone to help me. Then I went back to the original walmart in maplewood and I went up and down every eisle and found some space heaters on my own! After asking 6 people and walking 5 miles in this awlful place, I finally found what I needed on my own. People here are rude and not helpful. We went to this store today hoping to purchases a box spring for our bed because someone gave us a gift card. We didn't see what we were searching for on the floor, and not being able to locate an associate, we went to customer service. We were told they could not look anything up to see if it was in stock. She told us to find a member of management. We found 3 members of management talking and so we asked if they could help us. They tried contacting someone in the department and then told us that no one was working in that department so no one could help us. I replied, "so because no one is working in the department, you can't help a customer?" She said yes and then the three of them just let my husband and me walk out. This is why I don't normally go to Wal-Mart. I worked at a Wal-Mart about 15 years ago and remember it being a customer-focused business.
