I've never been a fan of Wal-Mart, and this one is no exception. The people that work here are rude and are usually talking to each other while you check out. The people that come here - are definitely what you would call the worst of the area - mothers with 15 kids, crack addicts, and just rude ass people in general. The good thing is, that they've recently remodeled, and sometimes have things cheaper than Target, which is the only reason why I come here. At any walmart you can expect low prices and not the most intimate customer service experience. Although prices are for a 64" walmart brand TV are good. the savings on produce are not only minimal they have the most awful selection. All fresh produce looks like it was order from a prison, it is brown, if not completely spoiled, the fruit and veggies looks like it was beaten with a sock full nickels and any time you go to this particular walmart and ask for any sort of assistance on any level you will absolutely hear that they can't help you because they are "on break" or they will try and pawn you off on the older/senior employees who actually care. So to clarify there is no management, no customer service on any level, and rip off on groceries and produce. If anything I now will pay extra an 10 cents to go to the grocery to get the quality I am looking for in a first world nation. One time I drove by and there were 10 employes "on break" in the front of the building smoking cigs and eat subway. This walmart is NOT safe. This overwhelmingly evident when you have 4 security guard patrolling the parking lot. Is your life really worth a $3 box of cheese its and a wounded produce. Cudos to Walmart Maplewood for hiring Terrance in the produce department. On Saturday April 20, Easter Eve, as expected the store was bustling with customers making final prep for the holiday. The produce department had been depleted of greens ( to my panic) Terrance was there restocking and when he over heard me speaking with my sister that we would probably have to go elsewhere to get greens; he promptly volunteered to go Check and see if he had in back the greens we were looking for. As we continued to shop Terrance left to check on the greens and returned promptly not just to my delight but to the delight of others who wanted greens too. I purchased a five piece cutlery set that only came with the wood block so someone stole the knives right out of the box. I went back to customer service to see if I can get a refund. Person running the cash register had to get her manager saying she never heard of an item with missing pieces. It wouldve been understandable if they were polite and just said we couldn't take back the item because its missing pieces but this woman literally said we dont have issues with our Farberware (brand name of the cutlery set) and it didn't come like this. Basically accusing me of lying. No apologies or any accommodation just no professionalism. My dad just last week was trying to purchase a box of wet food for his cat and there was cans of wet food missing from the box and the box from the outside was damaged so yes stealing is obviously a common occurrence. I shouldn't have to recheck my stuff before purchasing but I guess you have to at Walmart. read more

This Walmart is rarely not jam-packed with loud and obnoxious customers so be ready when you join the fray. The staff are generally around but you might have to hunt to find them if you have a question. It's a Walmart so you get what you pay for when it comes to quality. There's been multiple times in the home goods areas I have to hunt for a product that is not slightly dinged or damaged, but hey, it's all pretty cheap. The food aisles are typically well-stocked and the beauty section near the main entrance is the cleanest, most organized, part of the store. read more

Oh Walmart...I really want to hate you. I REALLY do. I've seen the documentaries made about your business practices. I hate the way you treat your employees. I hate the way you drive sales away from local businesses. I hate how insanely HUGE you are. But dammit...you're just convenient as fuck. The other day, I didn't have a lot of time on my hands, but I needed nail polish, cat litter, laundry detergent, and roadtrip snacks. What's a girl to do? Walmart to the rescue. As I pulled up to the giant parking lot and walked half a mile to the store's entrance, I found myself nervously glancing around to make sure no one I knew saw what I was doing. My pace quickened. I donned the biggest pair of sunglasses I owned. I looked down and avoided all eye contact. Okay, I'm just kidding. I didn't do all of that. But I WAS a little ashamed of myself for giving into the corporate machine. Anyway, I walked in, grabbed a cart, and wandered around, slowly finding each item that I needed, one by one. I suppose if you're a more frequent visitor, you can learn the layout of the store, but for me this was SUPER overwhelming! I found what I needed, paid, and left. The world didn't explode. Lightning didn't strike me down. And most importantly, no one saw me enter or leave. Except now all of Yelp knows about it. Please don't judge me. read more

Was accused of trying to steal 2 box fans that were clearly the very 1st 2 things scanned and was actually accused of stealing a bag of Whole Foods 365 Veggie Straws out of this Walmart. Im a vegan so I carry my little snacks everywhere I go just to make sure Im eating what I should without guessing.Was very embarrassing considering that was my second time today spending over $100 on household products in that store. This Wal-Mart sucks. It really is a slum of a big box retailer. - Parking is a hassle. They have a big lot, but it seems that the spots are tight, and there are carts and trash strewn about. - The shelves are disorganized. It feels more like a Goodwill or garage sale than a global 500 company. I found tampons next to the fertilizer, and a half box of cheese its in kids clothing. WTF? - The employees here hate their jobs. You see them wearing their Wal-Mart vests staring at the floor as they walk by. They intentionally do not want to make eye contact. - What's up with the lines. On a Monday night at 8 there were 3 lanes open (out of over 20) with about 10 people in each. I spent more time checking out than shopping. - And lastly, the people that shop here suck at life. There are crying babies and unattended kids everywhere. A few were playing kickball in one aisle. Adults were treating the place like it was a free-for-all... clothes and items just knocked to the floor, MFing each other and the store when things didn't go their way. The only benefit I see of this place is you feel better about your life once you leave. read more

The Pharmacy Department is excellent! They are very helpful and friendly. The pharmacist will come out dnd talk to you and explain very thoughtfully and concerns you have. I had a problem and she quickly corrected it and apologized. This pharmacy is a diamond in the rough. read more

The tire and lube section of the store has very poor service. The hours are until 7 pm, we showed up at 6 and were turned away because they had too many customers. Apparently, they make their own rules because in the service center I am in, I take customers until my doors close. If I have to stay after close, that's how it is. Upity ass tire and lube people. Horrible. This store is horrible and the so called management is horrible. I had brought back an item I had a receipt for. It was 91 days. Returns are apparently 90 days. The manager Jazz wouldn't approve the return. Yet if I hadn't brought in my receipt to return it I could have gotten store credit. The manager had an attitude like she was being bothered by being asked a question. Then went back to talking to a coworker with a playful attitude. If you don't like your job... Then leave. I received a bunch of gifts for my baby shower from walmart. I did not register there, and had to return a bunch of things i did not like, need, or even ask for. Walmart carries the Disney Baby name, but only certain items @ each Walmart. I had to drive to 3 different Walmarts in the St. Louis area just to return one stupid friggin disney baby item and you know what? None of them "carried" that item. So i had a gift i could not use and hated just b/c none of the walmarts would return an item they as a whole carried. F*n retarded! I just moved to St Louis at the beginning of September and because I came from a city of 20k where Walmart was pretty much your lifeline, I naturally thought to go there when I came. Back at my hometown Walmart it's a somewhat rare occurrence that you can't find what you're looking for. The grocery side, and much of the rest of the store, is restocked nightly so I found it to be quite vexing when I discovered that discount stores throughout the St Louis area seem to have a problem with this. None are quite so bad as the Maplewood Walmart. On several occasions, I've gone with a list of 10-20 items only to find that more than half of the items I want are out of stock. I'll go several times within a single week, and they still haven't stocked these items. I always had a certain respect for the reliability of the Walmart Corporation's supply chain but here, it just seems to fall apart. I don't know if there's some computer error that prevents stock from being ordered, they aren't getting shipments often enough or, more likely, nobody gives a damn about the job they're doing, even management. This is a store-wide issue, and until I hear that something has changed, I'm going to do everything in my power to avoid Walmart Store #5150. read more

The manager was completely unprofessional (he back talked to customers) and the service he was providing took wayyy longer because he would stop multiple times to talk for more than five minutes. This store has very POOR customer service. I dealt with 3 different employees, all of whom did not help me find what I needed. I came in lookig for a specific air mattress. Prior to coming to the store, I looked up on their Walmart website if they had it in stock and it said it was there. I looked in the bedding area and found air mattresses there but not the specific one I was looking for. I tried finding someone to help me and found this man and asked him if he had any more mattresses in the stocking room. He looked at me in a blank stare and said "I work in customer service..." I said "ok... Is there someone you know who I can talk to about this?" And he responded that the only person he can think of doesn't work here anymore and the other people are not working today. He suggested that there are some more mattresses in the sporting good area. I went to the sporting goods area and still could not find the air mattress I wanted. I found a man that worked there and showed him the mattress I found on the Walmart website. I showed him it that it said it was in stock. I even gave him the UPC code that came with it. He tried finding it and said it must not be here. I asked him if there was anyway he could look it up in the system to see where it would be and he said there was no way to look it up and he was new here and was still learning. I highly doubt that there was no way to look up where this air mattress was. He just didn't seem to know what to do. I finally decided to get a different air mattress in Walmart and found this same mattress on Amazon.com for $5 less. I know Walmart has a policy that they can price match any item that is found cheaper somewhere else. I went to the cashier and showed her that on Amazon, the price is cheaper. The girl looked at me in a confused way and told me in a condescending tone "yeah... But that's Amazon" I told her that I know Walmart price matches any item found cheaper somewhere else. She said "ok... Well I guess I'll ask my manager". She called him over and I explained the situation to him. He said "of course! Give it to her." He then began to yell at the cashier for not knowing the policy and yelled at her saying that he should take her off the line because she keeps asking him to come over to help her do things she should already know". The manager was very nice to me but once he left, the cashier was very rude and upset with me. She did not help me with my bags and did not say thank you or bye or anything once I finished my transaction. She gave me a mean look. She never even greeted me hello during the beginning of the transaction. This Walmart has TERRIBLE customer service. The employees do not make an effort to help you, do not know how to find things that are confirmed on their website that they are in stock, and do not even know their own store policies such as price matching items. Went there for an oil change and arrived at 745am and they opened at 7am. I was told, with 5 cars ahead of me that it would be two hours. Two hours came and went and when I went to check on my car they said it would be another two hours with two cars ahead of me, because they were getting tires too. What the hell, there's only one person doing everything? At that that point I took my keys and left. They had already wasted two hours of my time and they wanted me to sit there for another two hours, I don't think so, I don't how cheap their oil change is. read more

This has to be the worst Walmart that I have ever been to. On my first trip there I saw a drug deal go down in the parking lot and another guy trying to break into cars. I got stares the entire time that I was in the store as well. I don't recommend it to anyone. It does seem to have gotten better though since they remodeled it. I don't feel as terrified as I did the first time that I went it. I still don't recommend going to this Walmart once it's dark outside. read more

I live nearby so this is a convenient location whenever I need something random since it's close by. Like any Walmart, it can be chaotic, messy, and crowded. Besides being like all the other walmarts in the world, this one usually has what I need in stock and I can usually find someone to help me (note: usually). The only annoying thing was that upon leaving they have to check receipts. All I had was a bottle of soda, and the lady made me wait while she checked 5 other parties' receipts. I decided to try the vision center after reading very positive reviews for the Kirkwood location. It was a great decision. The optometrist was a great guy, fast and dramatically improved my vision from my former prescription. Eye exam and contact prescription for $83 is tough to beat. Definitely would recommend to anyone needing corrective lenses on a tight budget. read more
