I went to Walmart in Maplewood Missouri to get my daughter a futon for her apartment. I looked around didn't see them, but I did see a young man so I asked him where they were. He not only told me he showed me and explained they had 2 different kid showed me the second one as well. He was very knowledgeable, efficient, professional and just a nice young man. No clue why I return. Some lessons in life are simply inevitable; like Walmart Stores. We all know how poorly staffed they are, how overcrowded the aisles are with stock crates that hinder our ease of movement, how strange the patrons are (not you and I, the other patrons lol) the parking lot sucks...yet we still return time after time. Scratch that, one of the cashiers just shut off her light. There are now only 4 lanes open. This is a pretty awful Walmart all around. It's located near where I live but the people who work here are unmotivated and not very helpful. I came by here today to return some earbuds that stopped working. I had my receipt and was in the 90 day return window. I was told I needed all the original packaging to make a return. I told them that if I kept all my packaging for my purchases that my house would be full of trash. I asked to see the customer service manager, Jason, and he told me that if I can find the exact same model in the electronics department that I could make an exchange. I went back to look and lo and behold they are out of inventory on half of their earbuds. There is no way to find it as they don't keep their inventory in stock. I went back to tell Jason and show him the photo of his pitiful selection of earbuds he nonchalantly blows me off and says tough luck and to try another walmart. No offer to see if other Walmarts have it in stock. Im stuck with broken earbuds. These people just don't care. Go elsewhere if you have the option. read more

If you are curious where the freaks go in the light of day....you will get an eyeful at this Walmart location. Who knew? I have been here on several occasions and frankly am going to try and avoid it from here on out. There are always people shopping with their head up their ass and three or four kids jumping around their cart like fleas at a flea circus trying to gain the attention of those that are supposed to be supervising them. I am not sure why little kids zig when they are supposed to zag but it drives me crazy how they are always in my way at the grocery store..... Seems to me a lot of hookers, strippers, and just plain old people that like to run around half nude tend to frequent this particular location. I have seen a girl in a see thru white tube dress and more lycra and spandex in vibrant colors than I can even comment on along with five in heels....just seems a little odd that you would wear that to Wal-Mart. read more

Yes, the lines are too long, and there are never enough cashiers. Generally, the attendants are not very helpful or enthusiastic, but what can you expect, they should get paid them better and provide decent benefits. I went to pick up an online order Saturday morning only to find that NO ONE AT ALL was at the online order station. When I asked the attendant where to pick up online orders, he casually leaned on the workstation and mumbled something in my direction. When I went over there, there was no one at the counter at all, and there was a guy waiting just sitting in a chair who said he'd been sitting there quite a while and no one had come by. So, fast forward to Sunday, stopped by again expecting a similar situation. Walked up to the Entertainment section and asked the attendant how to pick up an online order. The guy's name was Marc. Instead of a repeat of Saturday, he walked me over to the online order station, and looked my order up, went to the back, picked it up and checked it out. Super friendly, really took care of everything in less than 5 minutes. I really appreciated the stellar service. But, overall, no, going to this Walmart is not a pleasant experience. read more

It was my mistake for shopping here last night but oh my. --one of the sales associates was singing loudly to his music while walking past us, funny but still not ok. --there were tons of overstocked boxes EVERYWHERE. Please take this review with a grain of salt. So I've never been to a Walmart before in my ENTIRE life until about about 4 months ago. Yes I held onto my Walmart-ginity for many many years. Yes, I'm a city boy... Well my belief of Walmart is that it's supposed to be this dingy, gross place with super low prices. I expected it to be disorganized and kinda like a war zone, like Macy's after a sale you know. Anyways I don't really have other Walmart experiences to compare this to but I thought it was just like any other store. Kinda like a Meijer or Fred Meyer where you can get your groceries, a beach ball, and power tools, essentially a one-stop shop. I don't find it to be particularly cheaper than other places though, I guess that's why their claim isn't for the lowest prices, but for the cheapest basket of goods compared to competition, on AVERAGE. read more

As I was checking out at the self-checkout, my children spotted balloons on a stick and each wanted one. I added two of them, paid, and then went to leave the store. At the exit, an associate checked my receipt, said she didn't see my daughter's balloon, and told me I needed to go back and pay for it. I said I wasn't going to pay twice for one item, so she took my 2-year-old's balloon out of her hand and refused to give it back. When I got back to the car with a crying child, I checked the receipt and there they were- two balloons. I still have the receipt and I have a photo of the receipt. I didn't get the employee's name but I did call to let them know they have a very serious problem with that associate. Nothing was done about the fact that an item I paid for was stolen by an employee. read more

Quite literally the worst store I've ever seen. They don't answer the phone, at all. You can call any extension and wait as long as you want. No answer. Their curbside pickup app is broken too, the check in button doesn't work. Can't fix it cause no one answers the phone to manually check in's This place is broken. 2 stars is generous. But. Anyway... I make it a mission to NOT patronize this location unless I have to. Even then, I'm asking myself, "girl, why?!" Earlier in the day, I tipped into the Walmart on Telegraph, but being my forgetful self, I managed to walk out without getting one of exact things I came in for. I knew I would be in the Maplewood/Brentwood area to have lunch w/my BFF, and Walmart is down the street. This Maplewood Walmart is a hot and ready, $5 mess. Like, there's no way around it. I don't frequent the area like I did back in the day, but it seems to have gotten worse over time. I've worked in retail before, so I tend to dig into my bag of patience and pull out a few fucks to give, bc I know how it is. But, no ma'am. No ma'am, ham or turkey! "It's tuuurble!", as Charles Barkley says, lol. I can't tell if the staff is actually...staff, or if they're browsing/shopping right along with me. Not to mention, most of them are rude. The aisles are congested with boxes, carts and just...stuff. There's carts full of random items just sitting out, not being tended to. I felt like this was an episode of American Gladiators and checkout was the finish line. I can't. Cashiers are talking to each other and over the customers. I could go on, but you get the point. The parking is a "get in where you fit in" type deal. You're blessed to find a space close to the front. The lot is usually clean, tho. And security does make their rounds around the lot, so that's cool. I got what I came for and bounced. However. Unless it's urgent, don't count on seeing me in an aisle, here. read more

I've been waiting in line for 30 mins at customer service , all just to get the foot pedals for a bike that I already paid for . I almost left without them because when I checked out no one told me I was going to need to stand here in order to get the pedals. Oh and when I called to ask if the bike was still in stock because I saw it when I was here yesterday I was told no. Is there actually a pleasant WalMart? I believe so, just not within the STL metro area. There are however ones that have their quirks. One in the area I will go to if I want to get in an out because parking is better. Another I will think to stop by if I need to pick up something from the grocer/deli real quick. The list goes on. Then there is the Maplewood store. Let me give you an example: I one time shopped at the neighboring Sams, who by the by shares a parking lot. I chose to go to an entirely different Walmart for the remainder. Its that bad. Parking is a nightmare. The staff seem to be even less friendly than their neighbor stores. And while some stores have decided to open more lanes to check out, Maplewood hasn't gotten that memo yet. read more

I used Walmart Delivery service because I needed some items for a camping trip and did not want to go in. The delivery was scheduled for 4-5 pm on a Saturday. They called to say they were sorry and could not deliver until Sunday at 10 am. I said I would be here. I waited two hours until a Door Dash driver brought my items to me at 12 noon. I will not be using the delivery again. I was happy they had my items but I was not pleased with the wait. read more

This Walmart wins the sucky Walmart award. It sucks in every way possible. Dirty, crowded, everything is damaged or out-of-stock, most of the checkout lines are shut. The shoppers here are not the problem. Nor are "EBT users" the problem. The people who work here are also not the problem. The problem is that STL is full of chain stores which treat certain demographics like dirt, while catering to more "preferred" demographics in other locations. It may be profitable. But how is it legal? Furthermore, the parking lot is too busy and crowded to ride your shopping cart out to your car. And I think it slopes uphill. read more

Walmart is always my retailer of last resort, ever since I first had to shop there 40+ years ago in southeast Missouri. The abundance of low-quality merchandise, uninformed employees, not to mention Walmart's often manipulative stranglehold over their vendors, causes me to, apparently, only shop here during a pandemic... Both customers and workers were ignoring any sort of social distancing and I don't recall seeing any employee wearing a mask. (This contrasts vividly with the situation I encountered at Whole Foods earlier in the day.) But they had toilet paper available here when no other place I visited had. The workers at the registers were helpful. The store was basically clean and in order. The prices were cheap but I still prefer to go elsewhere. read more

Went to the cosmetic section to buy a few items. The man working at the register told me I had to pay for my items in cosmetics, and could only be cosmetic items. I couldn't walk out the little area with items and continue shopping until paying 1st. Here's the thing . Say I forget to buy eyeliner, then I go back to cosmetics have to check that out in line. Then I forget I need face wipes, and I have to go back and check that out again?? What really gets me , there is no where to put your stuff down when checking out. No table, counter, nothing. The girl in front of me had all her bags on the floor?? The older man behind the register had an attitude when I mentioned there was no where to put my things . My girlfriend needed to get a rod and reel for her husband. As soon as we walked into the store, she asked for the fishing rod department. He directed us beautifully. So we got there. With all the fishing rods up in the air. You can't get them down to inspect without assistance. I sought an associate. He could not help, but he was very pleasant, and called for assistance. Then, we had three associates helping with rods, reels, hooks, bobbers and all sorts of things. BONUS: They have live bait. She bought three "tubs" of worms, hooks, bobbers, and the treasured rod and reel. BONUS: She could renew he husband's fishing license at Walmart!! I know it's Walmart, but this was a spectacular experience with wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable associates who could help and show my girlfriend the fishing things available. Add to that "live" bait and renewing the fishing license, and that's a total winner. read more

Maplewood Walmart has exceptionally poor service during the evening hours. I went on a late night run with my sister to purchase an item. It was not on the shelves, so I asked an employee if she could help me. She stated that she was maintenance, and would make no initiative to help, or to help me find someone who could assist me. I then found a group of female workers, chit-chatting, who simply stated the store only has what is on the shelves. I highly doubt such an assessment could be made without any attempts. After a few moments they saw an older employee walking down an isle and they told me to ask her for assistance as they continued socializing. The older woman was very polite, but explained the store does not keep track of their stock by scanning barcodes to know if the items are available, or where items could possibly be located in the back. Tonight, I went with my mom and my sister at about 9 p.m., to purchase an item that showed as available at the Maplewood Walmart location according to the Walmart Web site. When we couldn't find the item my mom went to the front to have someone paged to the section where we needed help. No one came to provide us assistance. My mom then asked a stocker passing by who said it was not his department. He didn't attempt to help, but he said he would call someone again, which never happened. Upon arriving at the self checkout, the system stopped working and said "wait for an attendant." The attendant came over and shook my sister's groceries and spoke to my sister like a child in a home where children are not appreciated. Mind you my sister is 33 years old. Another night there was a Walmart employee announcing the closing of customer service followed by "for your inconvenience." She stated the same thing twice so I know there was no mistake. It would seem that the employees see their positions as a joke. The store is poorly stocked. The majority of the employees are rude and/or lazy. It appears that the store has NO management. Also, when we went out to the car tonight carts were blocking driving lanes in the parking lot. Customers were even putting the carts in the cart holders; there were just too many carts and no staff members to take care of the situation. In my experience the customer is always right -- unless I'm working in another country -- but this is America and somehow it's a struggle to get even a smidgen of courtesy. read more

Here are the reasons why I dread any trip here: 1) My car has nearly been hit several times in this lot by inattentive drivers. 2) I myself, have almost been hit. 3) The greeters at the door just creep me out. 4) The people waiting in line at the pharmacy usually reek of booze and smoke. And to not be a total downer, here are a few things I like: 1) The pharmacy counter staff is generally friendly (hence the two stars). 2) If you are uninsured, generic drugs are only $4. 3) This location is right by my office Besides for pharm trips, I avoid this place at all costs! read more

This location really sucks...horrible customer service. I was there at aound 3 on Sat 12/20 and I bought a few christmas gift. Said Hi to the cashier. No responds. No biggie. Right? Wrong! She rings me up and puts all of my item on top of the bag holders. About 40 dollars worth of items... then proceeds to ring the next person. I asked her for the reciept and if she was going to bag my items or if i had to do it myself. She gives me a piss ant look.. so i proceed to bag the item myself. What happened to this Wal-Mart. It's terrible. The staff don't seem very interested in doing their work, the customers are generally rude, and the store is almost always elbow to elbow busy. Where to start, we the parking lot is filthy 100% of the time. The shelves are disorganized and merchandise is often on the floor. Lines are very long. If Wal-mart wants to punish people for being poor, this store is doing a great job. I'm not poor but I like a good price. But I don't think I can take this place anymore. I know hundred of people who have become loyal Target shoppers after being in this dump, so if that's the objective, that one is also working. When shopping today, I was overwhelmed by the number of empty boxes and stranded employee carts strewn all across the aisles and walkways. I was astonished at the 23 minute wait in line. After starting at the Kirkwood Walmart vision center for some contact lenses yesterday (with no avail), I headed back east to the Maplewood Walmart vision center. Success! I was greeted right away by a helpful man named John. He was expecting my visit, as I had asked the gal at the Kirkwood store to call the Maplewood store and see if they could help me. John ordered me a box of contacts to be picked up in a week or so AND gave me two trial lenses, just in case I ripped one while out of town. Yay! Although this Walmart is a little smaller and a little more ghetto, they have more people working at this location and, therefore, you get in and out of there a lot quicker! Which is kind of what a person wants in a super center: a quick in and out trip at a good price. For things like contact lenses, I don't really care where I go, as long as I can get these suckers at the best price possible. And in St. Louis there aren't too many private optometrists to visit- you just have to pick from a few chains. The nice thing about getting your contacts from a Walmart is that your script is kept in the Walmart system. If you were to lose a contact lens in Maui, you could hop on over to a Walmart and get a new one. That's kind of comforting... Needless to say, I'm glad that I won't be forced to wear my coke bottle glasses this week... read more

Good God I hate this Walmart. My general dislike of Walmart is not based entirely on a moral objection to their corporate practices. More than anything, shopping at their stores is just an unpleasant experience. I don't know what it is. The lighting that's reminiscent of a county jail? The floors that remind you of a basement with dirt floors? Herds of unruly teenagers camping out in the condom aisle? It's hard to say. And THIS Walmart is exceeeeeeedingly unpleasant. It's dirty, it's crowded, the shelves are a mess, and half the aisles are blocked with abandoned pallets of yet-to-be-shelved merchandise. The staff is practically non-existant and for a store so large, it seems to carry a limited selection of certain items (beauty products, flour that isn all-purpose, chocolate that isn't in the shape of an M&M, just to name a few). The thing that forces this store all the way down to a 1-star review is the unfettered stench of Subway bread that permeates the registers. As if shopping here weren't bad enough, now you have to gag on the yeasty smell of 9 grain honey wheat Italian 7 herb disgustingness while you wait in the never ending checkout line. I know Walmart isn't the classiest store, nor, do I really expect much than to just pick up what I need, check out, and leave. Stuff like pallets or boxes can pile up during restocking times, but it's not a big deal to me. It just seems like a common occurrence at any Walmart. However, this specific Walmart location is downright horrible. On one occasion, I needed some paint mixed, I had my color swatch, but no one around. When I did see employees around the hardware section, it was obvious they were avoiding me and they didn't want anything to do with me. What really blew my mind was when what looked like a manager (Heels, dressed in fancy casual, and freshly bleached locks) walked right past me. She had to turn around to take a call in another department, and when I made it clear that I needed assistance by ASKING, I was ignored. The customer service was definitely lacking, and was very disrespectful. Also, if you come later, or in fact, any time of day. Make sure you have plenty of time to wait and wait and wait in the one or two register lanes they have open. Not a time I have left there on a positive note. I've found other Walmarts to go to or Target. read more
