Picture this: The Smith family is driving down 880 to San Jose. They see the Walmart on the right side. "Hey Ethel, we need ta pick up anything at the Wall-Marx?" "Yeah. Let's go on in." So the Smiths take 237, then McCarthy Ranch. And they drive . . . and drive . . . and stop . . . and crawl a little more . . . and fight traffic. . . and they can't go over 20 mph . . . and drive more . . . and after a lot of hassle, finally get to the Wall-Marx. Inside, it's a somewhat typical Walmart. Complete with some of the People Of Walmart. Lots of merchandise, just about everything you need. Low prices. Grocery section on the left. Nonexistent customer service. On the one hand, it's a convenient location, at the intersection of two major freeways. On the other hand, it's a deceiving location, because it's at the far end of the McCarthy Ranch Shopping Center, and it's so brutal getting there that it lost a star. On the other hand, Walmart demands acres of land for their one-story stores with lots of parking, and there's not that much land left in Silicon Valley. So here they are. I've gone to this Walmart several times - until today's experience. There are two terrible developments at this store: (1) This is where I've bought several boxes of ammo. Good ammo at good prices, this was the only Bay Area Walmart that sold it. I went here today to get a few more boxes . . . no more. Customer service confirmed that they don't sell it anymore. It looks like this Walmart has given in to the anti-second-amendment loonies who are okay with a criminal black market for weapons as long as law-abiding citizens cannot legally acquire them to protect their families. (2) Half of the checkout lines are now scan-and-go lines. These were barely used, and the self-check area wasn't used much either. The two lines with live checkers were both very long. Which tells me that this Walmart is trying to fire the checkers. Not surprisingly, the customer service staff was more snarly here than in any other Walmart I've been to. If this store treats them that way, I don't blame them for being snarly. So I will not be returning to this Walmart, they're now one star and they lost a customer. I discovered a few weeks ago that there's another Walmart in Fremont, off Auto Mall Parkway, I'll be trying that one out. And I hope the Smith family goes to that Walmart too. read more

This Walmart is one of the worst besides well Union City ( that one is downright scary! ) Its cramp and the isles are really narrow that its hard to fit two carts side by side to pass. Its usually crazy busy on weekends so if you can go on weekdays early or late you'll come out less stressed. Stock is the same as any walmart with walmart prices. If I have time and dont mind the drive, I prefer to drive to the Walmart on Automall and shop there. Much larger and alot more aisle space. Not overly crowded there either. I really like this Walmart even if they close early. Compared to the 24 hour Walmart in Union City, this is much better to go to. It is a Super Center after all!! Haha They have better inventory and it's cleaner. Well, to me it is! They have a better grocery selection of fresh produce, frozen foods and other foods. As for my husband, he likes it better here as this Walmart sell bullets! Haha... ;p. Of course, there is a limit of how many bullets you can buy of certain bullets... Hint! ;-) The staff here are mainly older folks and kinda slow actually. I see they take their time stocking but strange still that their shelves are fully stocked. I found one lady sitting on a small pail putting shampoo away on the shelf and moving so slow! I saw later that she was an elder lady. I guess they still hire no matter the age?! The have staff towards the end of the night who are bringing in the crates of merchandise are fast! Make sure to get out of their way. I almost got run over by one! Out of my way please!! This store is right off the 880 / 237 freeway and near so many restaurants and other stores. It's easy to get to BUT the parking is always full like all Walmart stores. When has Walmart parking lot ever been empty? We always pass by this Walmart to shop if in the area; good to walk after eating too much food and do a little shopping! =) It never fails! I just left Super Walmart in Milpitas where I witnessed FATIMA a manager/coach disrespect a senior/older employee in front of everyone. It was heartbreaking to see a younger manager treat this senior/older employee like a child in front of everyone. It wasn't just disturbing to see FATIMA cut this senior/older employee off in conversation as she tried to explain herself but the fact that she disrespected her out in public SO LOUDLY. I heard of some young Walmart mangers/coaches taking advantage and disrespecting senior/older employees but I never WITNESSED it until today. FATIMA should've spoken to this senior/older employee away from the public eye instead of embarrassing her in public and in front of her coworkers. Shame on you FATIMA. My boyfriend prefers to go to Walmart for items than target. (Wherever he can save a few bucks!) I am personally not a huge fan of the crowded aisles and death trap of a parking lot, it just isn't my cup of tea. Anyways while I was there I did pick up two lunch box items... Both for about 7 bucks. Not too shabby and cute design. This store is overwhelming and feels dirty. "Cheap!" doesn't really scream at me when I'm walking up and down the aisle. The water aisle was EMPTY when I went. It looked as if it was a scene from post-Hurricane Katrina... The plus is that they accept recycling at the returns department of all places. I came to return some stale popcorn. Walmart should get 5 stars for their awesome return policy, but I'm reviewing more than that, so byebye stars! My brother bought a pack of kernels that tasted stale the moment they popped. How sad is that?? Anyways, that's not Walmart's fault. The line was short, but we were held up forever (okay, like 5 minutes) because the printer was broken. There's a huge open space near the back right of the store that's completely empty at the moment (Aug 2015). There's a decent selection of items, but the aisles are cramped and narrow. This Walmart is not as bad as the others I been too. I really like going to this one because the people are actually nice, well the cashiers that is. I get my oil changed here as well. I remember one guy gave me a suggestion to get my tire changed, but told me to go to Costco instead because they were going to have a sale or so. Yeah, there are some weirdos here and there especially if you ask where it is. The prices are cheap which is a plus. The staff here were extremely rude. Got ignored by at least 5 staff. I saw a Walmart employee standing around so i asked him for help and he said get in the line for the other departments register and asked them and walked away... he did not even look for the item or find someone with a scanner to help. The item I wanted was not on the shelf yet the website said it was available for store pickup and also said there was 6 left. I finally found a manager and they tried looking it up but when they did it didn't even show up on their scanner. I think they looked it up wrong on purpose. The Mountain View store is way better then this one even though it has its issues too. I don't like coming to this store on Mccarthy ranch and this is obviously why. I have a tendency to avoid Walmarts, other than the fact that I don't actually live near any. This one epitomizes why. I don't mind crowded stores as long as I can find what I need and/or get help. It was pretty crowded when I went today. I stood around in the electronics section attempting to find a case for a tablet that is not an iPad. I asked an employee on an adjacent aisle and upon hearing that I needed help with something electronics related, she essentially told me to go away. Couldn't point me to someone who could help me or anything I waited around and tried to get another employee's attention. She ignored me and kept flirting and batting her eyelashes at this tire tech. Finally when she decided she was going nowhere, she turned her attention to me. I asked for help in finding this case. She just waved her hand and told me that the website stock is never correct and that they didn't have it and went back to flirting. I went and asked another employee for help, and she actually showed me to the non-iPad tablet cases and I was able to find what I needed. Went back to the electronics line. There were about ten people in line, and flirty girl kept flirting away, ignoring the line. Bad service = no business. read more

Today, my family and I made our weekly run to walmart for groceries. Our first stop was to the restrooms. While my husband used the restroom, my son and I decided to look at the fish. To our horror, there was an entire section of dead fish. Dozens of dead rotting fish that have obviously been there for DAYS. 45 minutes and several calls for the manager later, one of the assistant managers and some employee without a name tag on, came over to find out what the problem was. I showed them the tank and questioned them about how that could even happen. The response from Nathaniel (assistant manager) was "yeah, the guy that takes care of the fish has been gone for a few days". What!?!?! I was baffled by that response. These are living creatures and need to be taken care of on a daily basis! Neither one seemed to recognize that this was a problem. There are several things wrong with this: First, the tanks are all connected - if there is a problem in one tank, every tank is affected. That much dead, rotting material in the tanks will destroy the water quality and make the other fish sick or even kill them. Second, anyone who gets a fish from there can contaminate their tanks at home and harm their other fish. And lastly (and most importantly) Walmart isn't taking care of their animals. The situation I saw today was nothing short of animal cruelty. If walmart isn't going to take care of the animals they are selling they need to stop carrying them. read more

Day by day this store is going crunch on service , no staffing at the counters . If you want to pay cash or buy alcohol you have to stand for a mile line . Only 1 counter opened up in the rush hours. I check in like I'm supposed to and let you know the color of my car and what number I'm parked at. But yet your employee ask my order number. I don't know do you not look at the check in. I asked a "supervisor" for an electric wine opener and he directed me to the electric cab opener section. The self-checkout lady was the rudest! Spent 30 minutes waiting for a pick up order. Watched other people who came AFTER me get their items. The workers barely even looked at me, acted like I didn't exist. Other customers told them that I was there first but was still ignored. When was finally "acknowledged", the person in charge gestured to me and said "go help her" without looking at me.
