I just spent MORE THAN AN HOUR in your store, picking up four items. WELL OVER 30 MINUTES of that time I was waiting for assistance in the Photo department. I used the keypad to summon help AT LEAST 6-7 TIMES. NO ONE EVER RESPONDED. I CALLED THE STORE'S MAIN NUMBER TWICE, which resulted in AT LEAST TWO announcements for "customer assistance needed in Photo". NO ONE EVER RESPONDED. A young woman named Kalvina came out out of 'the back', pushing a big cart with a bunch of merchandise to be stocked onto shelves. I asked her for help. She found the designated Electronics employee (Gavin) JUST ONE AISLE OVER. He had no idea how to help me. He called for his 'team lead'. Before this person responded, another young woman came by and informed us that THE PHOTO DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED because the processing equipment was 'down'. THERE WAS NO SIGN TO THIS EFFECT. I frequently visit this store this store because of it's proximity to my home. I've noticed over the years that the customer service, particularly the cashiers has gotten worse. I came here today to purchase a few items earlier. I was not "dressed up" I had gotten off of work 3 hours earlier and changed into something comfortable. I went to the self check out to pay and I did two separate transactions. I noticed that the Mormon self checkout guy was looking at me and talking to one of his peers. When I finally went towards the exit, the Mormon guy told the lady to look at my receipt and the lady said, "he was watching you and you didn't pay". I told her that I had two separate transactions and I showed her my receipts. She then looked over them and took about 45 seconds to do so. She said it was "nothing personal" and that he was training her. She then reiterated that it wasn't "nothing personal from her, but maybe him". I thought it was strange because they have a guy who checks receipts, it didn't bother me though. I had the money to pay for it, they should feel very dumb though. Security review. Monday night I purchased a butane heater and butane at Walmart on Modesto. When train to walk out the front door security as for a receipt. Knowing my hands were full and I could not get to it I did not give it to him. At that point one of them called out to at least five rushing at my face. The whole time I'm saying I have a receipt it's in my back pocket my hands are full. Asking them to hold my merchandise they refused so I rushed over to returns which they directed me to so I could return my items and get out of a hostile environment. I felt like a third class citizen because these overzealous employees think saving the planet, so they have to be Nazis. Going to the store should not put you in a life-threatening position because if one of them little later hand on me I would have hit back and I wouldn't be writing this message I'll probably be unconscious from the seven people she called up there to help her when there was no need a simple can I hold your things while you get your receipt would have been sufficient. Unfortunately lack integrity, lack of supervision lack of training whatever it may be it put me in an unfortunate circumstances that make me never want to go back to that store again and to tell everyone what Walmart does if you have your hands full. At the end one of their employees help me out and held my stuff after I asked several more times for them to do so one finally did so I got my receipt up and simply gave it to him cuz my hands are empty. While purchasing makeup lotion and qtips in the cosmetics department, we were confronted by the rudest employee I've ever encountered. She proceeded to yell at us with attitude and body language that was completely unprofessional. While exiting the cosmetics department (per her instructions) she grabbed the items out of my hand. This Walmart is so small!! It has the basics but that's about it. The staff are super slow when checking people out. I've also come across some very rude checkers who obviously hate their jobs. (Don't take it out on the customers that you dislike being there it's not my fault that you chose to work there). I've also overheard staff in the aisles bad talking other coworkers and how they hate their jobs. This looks very unprofessional and bad. The pharmacy is SUPER slow!!!! It takes 2-3 hours to REFILL a script when you order a refill through the app. Then they make their own decision about how many pills you need rather than going by what the script says. When I told them no they get very upset and say it'll take ANOTHER hour to change it to make it correct. Poor customer service. I feel like I was always a burden to them for needing to get the CORRECT script. I'm glad my insurance kicked in and I don't have to go back here. read more

If it's not bad enough that you have to be searched leaving the building, tobacco, liquor, razors, family planning, cosmetics, video games and technology, socks, underwear, school backpacks, and infant formula are among the items you'll find completely locked up in this store. Their consistently short staffed personnel doesn't know who is carrying the ONE key half the time, so time your trip wisely. Prices aren't that great considering the hassle and extra time it takes just to navigate the store. With over $500 billion in sales last year, you'd think Walmart could afford to provide any type of customer service, but apparently not. read more

They lost my grocery order. I was parked for two hours waiting for my groceries and ended up just leaving. The manager never even told me her name. However, today when I went to pick my groceries up I spoke with Jennifer. She made me feel extremely validated in my frustration and was so kind and funny it completely warmed my heart. We got our groceries 24+ hours late but Jennifer made me feel validated and assured my order would be out and it was. Jennifer needs A RAISE. SHE NEEDS TO BE PROMOTED. My sister and I have been shopping this store for years and I have to say customer service and products in the store have gone down the tubes. My sister uses a backpack for a purse because it's easier for her with work . Walmart said she had to leave her backpack with them . I had a big purse which they said nothing about . If I could give this place Zero stars I would. I came in to get a simple money order, there was a line of 18 people in the customer service and only two registers open. I requested a manager (via phone) while I was in line and nobody picked up the phone on the other end. I've always have never liked shopping here because it's ALWAYS a terrible experience. Today's validation proved it yet again. Seriously people, don't come to this or any Wal-marts for that matter. Spend the extra $5 and go to target or winco or another grocery store. I come here to cash checks quite often. Always a long line and always a cashier/clerk who can't seem to keep the line moving and always gets frustrated with the customers. Ive seen an argument between employees and customers in this line everytime I come here. The cashier Naomi is very rude and snappy with customers. I always see her waving her hands in the air while talking to customers and when the customers try and ask her a question or comment she cuts them off and talks over them...she seems to actually try to make the customers irritated and flustered. I myself personally have never had a problem with her or any of the other employess at the returns/money services area but my social skills are far superior to that of any wal-mart employee that I have had to interact with and I am and I do my best to diffuse potentionally hostile situations. I am pretty easy to make happy but I am almost never satisfied with wal-mart customer service. this place is ridiculous. read more

If you are coming to Walmart with high expectations, you will never have those expectations met. Expect poor customer service and great prices and you will be just fine. As Walmarts go, this location is better than most and it is open 24 hours. Grocery selection here is good. The selection of other regular products is not great because this is the smallest Supercenter in the Walmart chain. Walmart wanted to open a full sized Supercenter but the City of Modesto shot that idea down. Instead Walmart purchased this existing store and made due with what they could. It was the only way Walmart could circumvent the cities limitation imposed upon them. I like that they have a Supercenter here in Modesto even if it is a castrated version of a Supercenter. Prices are cheap and the selection is good. If you have never been to a true Walmart Supercenter or Target Greatland, you don't realize just how small this Modesto Supercenter is. read more

Ok, so I have become a fan of Wal-Mart. You never know which way the ball is going to roll when you drop it. In our home we like Progresso Soup. What we don't like is the high prices in the grocery stores. We have gone to Save Mart, OBriens, Smart and Final, Winnco and they are all high priced. Well at the Wal-Mart super center the price this week was .89 per can. Now when you give me prices like that, I will be a fan forever. A couple of things I now come to this Walmart for (in addition to household items): tomato sauce ($0.38/can) and bananas ($0.33/lb). The checkout still bites. The put like 2 things in each bag! Diamonds are a girl's best friend!... (or are they)? About two months ago my boyfriend surprised me with a VIZIO 43" Class FHD (1080P) Smart LED TV. I loved the TV but I never took it out of the box. You see I enjoy watching The 49ers during Football season and The Warriors during Basketball season and I wanted a huge screen with surround sound to view my favorite teams. And you know what they say... The bigger the better!!! So I decided to upgrade my TV. After all, I still had the receipt, I never took it out of the box, It was brand new. I just wanted a larger screen. I went to Walmart Supercenter on 3848 McHenry. I marched directly to the Electronics department and that's when I saw it. The SAMSUNG 65" Class 4K Ultra HD (2160P) HDR Smart LED TV! Oh My Goodness!!! The picture was so clear. The commercial that was playing on the TV drew me in. (I'm a Foodie) It had food that was being prepared on the screen looking so appetizing, that now not only did I want the TV, I also wanted that gourmet hamburger that was being prepared on it! The sound was also incredible. I had to have it. I wasn't leaving the store without! I peeled myself away to find an employee to help me, and that's when I found ANDREW. (HI! Andrew if you're reading this). Anyway, I asked if I could exchange my 43 inch diamond of a TV for the 65 inch larger diamond of a TV? He was all too happy to help me. He stopped what he was doing and smiled at me then looked at my receipt. He said: "This is a Smart TV and you can only exchange it within 15 days". At this point, it had been two months. But I did my research and knew that any electronics can be exchanged with a receipt within 90 days of purchase. However, I didn't argue because he said: with a smile..."Let's talk to the store manager and see what they say". Not only did Andrew look up the pricing for the Samsung. He went into the stock room and returned to the floor with my Diamond of a TV. "It's the only one we have left". He said. Let's get it! I replied! Not really sure if I could afford it but I stepped out on faith. He took it up to the front of the store where they do returns and asked if I could exchange my 43 inch VIZIO for the 65 inch Samsung. Christie the store manager, to my surprise was accommodating and said, wait for it...YES! She stated what I already knew, that the return was within the 90-day return policy and the tv had never been used. After some creative financing. i.e Put some $$$ on this card and some $$$ on that card. I had UPGRADED my TV. Now for the tricky part. How do I get this monster of a TV in my little car? One "Good-'ol-boy" with a massive truck yelled from the parking lot: "Put it in the back of my truck! I'll take it home for ya"! He joked. OH NO YOU WON'T! I Jeered back! Then I prayed: "Lord, Help me get this TV in my car". It was just then that two customers came by and said: "Once you get that (TV) home I bet you never come out of your house". We laughed. As I was moving around of other junk in the back of my car to make room for the newest member of the family, that same customer asked Andrew and I if we needed help. We accepted and with one lift from the customer and Andrew my new TV was in my car without a hitch. I was the happiest girl in the whole world. I can't wait to install my new tv and have my boyfriend see it! Who knows maybe he'll pop the question and I'll get a real diamond...But if he does I hope he waits until half time or the game is over to do so. Gooooo Warriors! Hey what gives, Walmart although the building is physically large stocks so little in the area of variety of merchandise. I strolled through Walmart yesterday only to find extra wide isles because inventory is so limited. I couldn't even find the variety of merchandise as I had found in even the low rated Manteca Walmart. Now here is the kicker the prices on some items at Modesto McHenry Walmart are actually cheaper than the Manteca Walmart. On my sparkplug quest a Champion CJ8 modesto is 1.78, manteca is 2.79 or something. Why is there a price difference? Why does Manteca Walmart hate Manteca people so much they overcharge them on lawn mower parts. As far as scopes the Modesto store had several scopes not even offered in Manteca. What gives Walmart? Manteca people can read the internet and see how their local Walmart has let them down too. Modesto Walmart no people living in parking lot, Manteca Walmart one maybe two have a home in the lot. So if you need something go to McHenry Superwallymart and you might actually save some money in Modesto over the other Walmart stores. OH yeah the sandwiches are delicious for 2.98 and they suck too. Heres how you tell if they suck, squeeze the sandwich and if it soft it's okay if it feels like a rock, it is junk. 50 percent of the ready made sandwiches are rocks at the Modesto Superwalmart. read more

I feel bad every time I come here, but because it is so close to my work it's easy. I feel bad because this place ruins local stores that offer the same products. Not to mention they draw a crowd that is less than normal. This particular wal-mart is a bit scary because of the homeless that stay in the parking lot waiting for you to get out of your car to ask you for their drug money. Called to make sure they still had their paint/ fabric department only to go and see that they got rid of them both. They no longer have fabric/ paint services at that location. Its wal-mart. You go here for low prices, you don't expect much else. It would be one star but for the volume they do and the prices they do offer a relatively clean store and decent product. I don't believe in dinging stores because the of the customers and how they act or else this would be a 1 for sure. Just don't go here after about 9pm when they start carting out all the pallets of stockto fill the shelves, and it is impossible to move around the store. This is one of my pet peeve's about walmart, everything is so cramped. From the parking lot, to the aisles where people decide to leave their children and their cart unattended, blocking an entire pathway. I feel cramped from when I arrive to when I leave. But then again, I'm only here to save money so I can put up with it. I'd much rather go to target. read more

I would give no stars if I could. I placed an order for delivery before 10 am for delivery between 4-5pm. No show, no notification that the DRIVER cancelled my order. It just showed in process/delayed. Had I not contacted Walmart myself to find out where my groceries were, I would still be waiting. I am less than 10 miles from the store. read more

Super Walmart! When someone told me that Modesto had a Super Walmart, I thought it would be a Walmart with everything you can think of. I imagined all sorts of craziness that you can't find in any other Walmarts, besides other Super Walmart. Such as hot tubs, cars, etc. I was utterly disappointed when I stopped by the other day. I expected a fusion of Walmart and Costco, however, all I got was a spacious Walmart with a produce section. Maybe when they have an Ultimate Superhero Walmart, my dream would come true. read more

Besides the fact that you have to rush by the group of smokers(workers on break) I like this location better than sisk and coffee. Even when the workers aren't there smoking it still smells like raunchy and stale. I MUST say the cashiers here are Super Polite and helpful!! read more

This Walmart is like any other Walmart. No special service from any of the staff. They have what you want here at a cheap price. Parking is a pain and the welcoming is like cows at a slaughter house (help the customers as fast as possible and move on to the next one) except this one has a grocery store.
