This is one of the worst run businesses I have ever seen. The store manager should be fired. The employee's wiliness to engage and help customers is nonexistent. You can read other reviews and see that it is standard practice and not a one-time occurrence. The culture of the store is built and put in place by management, and it is failing horribly at this location. What poor / complete lack of planning it is to try and check out of this location only to find 2 registers open. ALL but 2 self-checkout registers are closed, sectioned off, and red lighted. This is not random, equipment issue, it is ongoing, and the only two that are open are the two, marked Spark Check out. Great managers are Pro Active, understand hourly customer rates, flow rate and have procedures in place to meet or exceed customer expectations. This manager is not Pro-Active, and sadly not reactive, as no adjustments are made to improve. The complete lack of caring is evident. read more

My husband and I have Walmart Plus. Our car has been broken down for 2 weeks so i decided to order online and have $45.00 worth of stuff delivered. I ordered at 7pm... it told me my items would be delivered by 10pm. At 10pm i received a text saying my order was delayed. Ok.. fine.. no worries. Then 55 minutes later i received another text saying my items would be delayed again. Being im 50 years old and its late... i got on chat to figure out what was going on. I was told the store closed at 11pm and my order was "unassigned". 4 hours it stated via the app that my order was being prepared! Not only that but 2 of my items i ordered are not even on my list now!!!! So basically as a customer.. MY family was not worthy enough to be delivered too!!! We literally got shoved off and shit on!!! The person i spoke with via text chat has placed me on delivery for 7 am and left a note of my being upset over this. I will be calling in the morning because this is absolutely wrong! Ię paid for my products.. i gave a tip to be delivered and here we sit outlasted!! The Pharmacy! The Pharmacy at Walmart in Mt Airy NC has got to be the worst in the United States!!! A few of the workers there should not be employees, they take their time to wait on you, they will leave you standing there while they do something else and then when they decide to come back to the register and call you to pick up your prescription. I am going to switch my prescriptions to Walgreens or see if my insurance allows for mail order. One other thing when you call the pharmacy, they let the phone ring 100 times before they pick up and most of the times they do not pick up!! This is a total disgrace!! Employees distract and ask to pet my service dog every time we go in. They allow pets in regularly and don't follow ADA regulations

This is a COVID-19 specific review for anyone unsure how safe this Walmart is for them or their family. Thursday night about 7:30 we came to our local Walmart only to learn they are not enforcing nearly enough health/safety measures. The check person they have out front thankfully provided a mask for free to a woman who needed one, but the checkers are not very effective because several people took their masks off immediately after entering the store. This, combined with the fact that no employee was distributing carts, and it was unclear if they had been sanitized, meant several people were crowded in the door unable to distance while trying to clean their carts with Clorox/sanitation wipes. Now, right through the door you are bumping into people, some who do not have a mask on, and it is clear that health and safety standards are extremely low. This was confirmed further when I saw people (children especially) touching their face and even once coughing into their hands and then touching produce, toys, a store scanner in one of the isles, and more things in that store than I could count. What was worse is that people not wearing masks blatantly thought it was funny to not distance and intrude on other's space. This was made worse by the fact that no isles had anything set up to try to promote distancing (like one-way signs, enough visible floor stickers throughout the store, etc...). I noticed one family not waiting for a self-checkout station to be cleaned before using it, so we opted for a cashier who we saw cleaning her station as we walked up. We asked her why 20-30 people in the store were not wearing a mask, and she told me they could not enforce the rule because its leads to confrontation which is honestly just sad for these employees. Overall, this Walmart is in no way set up with basic safety precautions right now, and from experience I recommend taking your businesses elsewhere. Target on University Parkway in Winston-Salem, NC, has done the best in my opinion of keeping things stocked and safe, but if you have to stay in Mt. Airy to shop, try to rely on smaller grocery stores or specialty stores for now. read more

Just order what you need and have it shipped for free to your house by Amazon or travel about 30 minutes to the one in King, Elkin, or Galax. If by some miracle this store has the basic essentials you are looking for, they are locked up and you cannot find an employee willing or able to unlock the doors. The employees we encounter at the Mt.Airy store are either rude or apathetic to customers. You'll have a much better experience, find what you need, and in less time online or at another Walmart close by. read more

I live near Mount Airy Walmart, so it was a quick shopping stop for years. I've been putting up with the self- checkouts for a while. Someone could be stealing a large screen TV out the front door and they would have eyes on me. As someone that lives close, I shop there a lot, not only for my large family, but also for my mother. I am a clean, middle age woman. I try to look respectful. I don't look like I have a lot of money, but I am a widow that can provide for her family. I am sick of being targeted for a criminal. I'm just a stressed out mom, doing what everyone else does, but apparently I look like low brow desperate thief. Who would steal a $2 cup, which I got accused of after spending about $200 every other day??? I live ten minutes away, but will drive to Elkin, Galax or King Walmart before ever shopping here again. Its all fine & good if Walmart wants to have locked glass doors on some of there products but they need to allow more employees to have a key to open it for a customer when they want to buy that certain item. My Service Dog was nearly attacked twice today within 5 minutes by 2 different pets people were faking as Service Dogs. They won't do anything about people bringing in their pets lying about them being Service Dogs when it's clear by the dog's behavior that they have no ounce of training. They won't do anything about the pets being in the carts, even real Service Dogs aren't allowed in carts per federal law and the FDA. They also just watch or pretend they didn't see anything when one of the pets lunge at or attack my real Service Dog. They won't do anything if these pets snap at or actually bite another customer either. These incidents today make 5 near attacks in total. There was an incident where the fake actually bit my Service Dog but since there were no cameras in that particular area and the guy with the fake ran out immediately no one could do anything. read more

Let me share my experience at this Walmart today. My girl friend and I wanting to get a start on this year's Christmas shopping walked around the store just find most items were not priced which is the normal for Walmart now but they also had several items with no prices listed on the shelf's. We walked to the location marked as price checker to find it had been removed. So to keep from running into this problem again I used my phone and scanned items to price check. After selecting several items we proceeded to the checkout area just to find they have now installed two large sections of self checkouts with several employees standing watching this area and only one standard checkout isle with a employee. This line had over 5 people waiting. So we decided after a wait to go to self checkout where we were promptly told what self checkout we could use. My girl friend scanned items as I handled them to her she paid cash on most of her purchase and card on the remaining. We started scanning my items and hit the yes for a extended warranty by mistake and had to get assistance and removing this added charge. Then the employee asked to see my girlfriends receipt because no one had seen her pay for her items. She presented her receipt for inspection and after the employee checked several items and that she had paid as stated all checked out was returned the receipt. I concluded my purchase. We had purchased around $400.00 worth of stuff between the two of us. This employee didn't say thank you or she appreciated our business or sorry for the accusation. I was very offended. Maybe if they would open some registers and check people out they would not have wonder if people have paid. Maybe they should check their registers receipt before questioning someone's honesty. I don't plan on returning to this Walmart anytime soon and I do not recommend it. Go somewhere else where customers service still has some meaning and treat people with some respect! read more

Ok so I bought a set of tires for my wife's car about a year ago from the Mt Airy Walmart. One day she's headed to work and gets a flat. She happens to get this flat near the Dobson, NC Walmart. I paid for the road hazard on all four tires. The Dobson Walmart doesn't sell tires so we have to get a road call and pay for another tire. I call the Mt Airy Walmart to see if I can get a prorated refund on my tire since road hazard was paid for. Now after holding for nearly 30 minutes I'm told that no refund is forthcoming and my only option is to buy another tire from them that I don't need. So needless to say I'm done with that place. Dear Wal-Mart in mount airy. While the CSM was really apologetic and nice I want you to know how frustrating it is when you have a 5 can limit! You have 2 locked cases overflowing with formula. The sign was taken down and the associate with the key allowed me to get the number of can I needed however the register stopped it. I even offered to make different transactions and was told it is not allowed. I am a single mother of twins! Getting them in and out multiple days for what I could get in one trip is HARD! have them 24/7 unless I am at work in which I can not go into the store because I am working and have to pick them up immediately after. I was told by one associate to have my spouse come back in or my mother. Well no spouse and mother is not close by. So thank you mount airy wal mart for making my life WAY harder than it already is and just know food lion and other stores do not have this limit. I will drive to 4 food lion's from now on before I step foot back in your store! I will go to Elkin Wal-Mart as they do not have the limit. If I was able to give zero stars I would give ZERO!. Went yesterday to cash my check and load my walmart debit card. In the past year I've had this card I have not been charged for loading my card only to cash my check. So when I'm told there will be additional charge for loading/depositing money onto my card of course I'm going to ask why? However that must be a serious problem to do since I was then told by the associate conducting the transaction that she would not do this transaction any further!! All over me asking why I was being charged when I've normally not been charged. I'm absolutely sick of self entitled associates thinking it's OK to unjustly criticize or judge someone over a simple explanation being asked for. If you can't do your job better than that go somewhere else because clearly you don't need to be in retail or customer service. Was in the store shopping with my oldest daughter, who is married with a family of her own. Older lady at checkout was extremely rude. Reached into my buggy and took an item directly from my shopping cart. Rudely said "you can't get both packages of toilet paper." Tried to explain to her that I was not purchasing both packs, one was for my family and the other for my daughters household, which she was purchasing. She said that doesn't matter and if I try to come back in to purchase it she knows me and will not let me buy any! Insane!! I asked to speak with a manger who had common sense and tried to explain to the worker that it was ok since my disaggregate and I lived in different households. They block off aisles and then get this attitude if you try to get access to what you need. Maybe its because of shopping at this time I don't know. Employees are not helpful or friendly. This last time was the last time. Employee on his little floor machine stops to tell or rather yell at me do not get on floor again past rope no please or can I help you get something. Visiting family and friends in the Mt. Airy, NC, area, my Spouse and I stopped by Wal-Mart for a few grocery items and a couple of bottles of Wine. To say the least, we were SHOCKED! Having been to Wal-Marts all over the U.S. and Mexico, we were used to clean parking lots, store entrances, and clean floors with nearly stocked shelves. This Wal-Mart was filthy, dirty and the shelves of merchandise were such a mess, it was next to impossible to find the price of each product! We did not even want to touch the Shopping Cart or Shelves because of possible diseases! The aisles were so small, two Shopping Carts could not pass, requiring people to back-up or go around! The Make-up section looked like it had been tossed in the floor and thrown back on the shelves! We did find two bottles of Wine and some Chips, then tried to check out, but lines were badly backed up, taking another 10 minutes to get thru the 20 Items or less line! Once at the Cash, the Cashier explained that she had to continue talking on her cellphone to her Mother while working because her Mother was Mentally Ill and would pack and move if she didn't talk to her Mother constantly! After finally getting rang up and paid, we left, only to find the parking lot so badly lit and dark, it was hard to see our car! As regular, 2 times a week or more Wal-Mart shoppers, this was like being in a different world! We feel that the Management at the Top simply does not care and this attitude is passed down to the workers. Please, Wal-Mart Corporation, do something about this mess, your hardworking Customers deserve better! read more

This Review I'm leaving is for the Walmart in Mount Airy, North Carolina. This is the Walmart I shop at all the time. Basically everything in this store is good with the exception of the Live Fish Dept Section. I have a Fish Tank and Walmart is the only place in the area that sells Fish so I have no other choice but to buy them here unless I wanna take an almost hour ride to Winston-Salem to find a place. Sadly this Walmart does not take proper care of their Fish. Every time I go there to browse the Fish selection I see Dead Fish in most of the tanks. My last visit I saw 1 Fish Tank that was all Cat Fish and every single one of them was Dead. The tanks next to the Dead Cat Fish had varieties of other Freshwater Tropical Fish and I noticed right away that most of the Fish were Completely Covered in "ICK". So they are as good as Dead sooner or later. They do Not even bother to treat the Ick infested Fish with Ick Treatment that they sell right next to the Fish Tanks. I made the mistake of buying a few Fish that I didn't see the Ick on but a couple of days after I had them in my tank I noticed Ick was spreading on them and they infected my whole tank. Now I'm treating my tank for Ick and the 2 from Walmart are dying. Walmart needs to step up and properly care for these Fish they are selling. Nobody wants Disease Ridden Fish. I should get a refund for the Fish I bought that ended up costing me money for treatments and the fish die anyway. Get your Crap together Walmart of Mount Airy !! read more
