Absolutely not. I will never return to this location. Go anywhere else. It was dirty. Disorganized. Water all over the floor and piles of towels and paper towels just thrown about. Most of the freezer cases were empty or the lights were out. Food all over the clothing areas as well. Barely any fruit or vegetables, and what was available was moldy or damaged. Only about two registers open, and self checkout completely closed. No one available to help in the store and most employees ignore you. I regret going. read more

Placed an online order - received a message at 4:33 pm that order was ready for pickup. Arrived at store at 4:47 pm. I was one of two cars waiting for pick up. Phone number given to call upon arrival was just a recording from DECEMBER. Calling customer was no better. Called multiple before someone answered and they were of no help. After asking several times where my order was and witnessing cars arriving, getting their orders and leaving; I finally received my order at 5:51 pm. Totally unacceptable! read more

I always come to this store with extremely low expectations, and am still profoundly disappointed with every visit. I've never been to this Walmart and found everything that was on my shopping list - something is inevitably out of stock. This time, whole refrigerator cases at the back of the store were empty. Eggs? Nope. Yogurt? Not today. Food coloring? Try again next time. Deodorant? Hah, good luck. And, if there is something on the shelf, it's often disorganized; as just one example, the cake mix section on the last visit was basically a random jumble. Don't assume that the price on the shelf has anything to do with the item above it! As a bonus, on the last visit, there seemed to be a cart shortage - folks were scavenging in the trash-strewn parking lot, looking for something they could use to carry their groceries, because the total of three (!) carts near the door or inside were all broken. ("It's broken!", yelled one of the Associates, when I tried to take one of the three. Maybe one could, you know, do something about it, and take the broken carts to the back? Just an idea.) And yet, like an abused spouse, I still keep on coming back. Maybe it's because I don't want to drive 15 miles at 11pm to go get ibuprofen for my kid's fever. Or because the Walmarts that I've been shopping at a big chunk of my adult life - not here in Connecticut, but in other places - had their acts together. Went here because I was in the neighborhood. I guess the store isn't that bad... but the people that shop there are slobs. There was shopping carts all over the parking lot, literally 1/2 of the spaces. I noticed 2 surveillance cameras in the middle of the lot supplied by the police department. Every cart I went to pick up had trash in it. The store itself isn't horrible, but I'd have to say the worst I've been in. Had to laugh... in the grocery area, the shelves are high, stuff on the top shelf are unreachable and I'm about 6'. Have not been here for awhile. They have remodeled the story to improve the shopping experience. I feel that overall they have the best prices. They have a large grocery area, which includes meat and vegetables. The biggest problem with these big box stores, is trying to find your items. I ran into that today, but they have plenty of help that can direct you to the items that you are looking for. I love shopping at Walmart both online and at the store. I can't stand this particular Walmart and like some of the other yelpers said, I only go to get what I need and get out. The people who shop there are rude and loud (present company excluded, of course) and the staff are pretty much the same. Store is always crowded with long lines and move super slow. They did recently add a little self checkout area but even that can move slowly and the registers give error messages if you move your items off the scanning/bagging area too quickly. There was mold on the broccoli and raspberries, the place was FLITHY, every item I looked at was either 1. Expired or 2. Extremely close to the expiration date. The best way to shop at this or any Walmart store is to use the Walmart+ home delivery. The prices are the same as in store, you don't have to see the disorganization and turmoil that is normal way of things at this and most other Walmart stores. I get the majority of my grocery basics from them with no problem. Fresh produce still always comes from ShopRite or Big Y. I don't eat red meat so that's not a problem and the frozen fish and chicken at Walmart are good quality. Also with The savings from coupons, free Paramount+ and the 5% credit from Capitol One Walmart Card, Walmart+ pays for itself. read more

I love this wal mart bc they have literally been everything. However, the staff member that does the receipt checks is so rude every single time I'm in there and tonight during the thanksgiving craziness he tells me I don't have a pair of pants listed-I check with the cashier and sure enough it was scanned, it was a "machine error" according to him. This Walmart location receives 3 stars from me because it is just okay. You can find what you need here in terms of clothing, baby items, food, hygiene products, electronics, reading material and more, but the store needs improvement in certain areas such as customer service and cleanliness. This location is close to the major transportation stations (New Haven Metrorail being one of them) and should at least carry state memorabilia such as magnets, t-shirts for those that would like to collect a memory of their travel to Connecticut. New Haven is a predominantly Puerto Rican/Latino neighborhood so Walmart should embrace some of that with the products that they carry. Overall I like Walmart... This store is HORRIBLE though. I've said on multiple occasions they need to either shut down or just hire a whole new team... God forbid you need any help in one of the aisles..after looking ten minutes for an employee , they can't speak English... Never thought I'll review a Walmart but this one is one of a kind. The workers were screaming, laughing and cursing at their coworkers. When I asked for assistance, the worker replied "Not now, I'm busy". We tried asking a different worker who looked like a supervisor but she replied, "I don't know" and walked away. I had a very positive experience at this Walmart- all because of one of their customer service representatives, Jessica. I was fortunate enough to be transferred to her when I called for information regarding a chair I was trying to purchase. I needed to find out whether, if the chair wasn't right, it could be returned and at what cost. Jessica quickly point out that the chair I was trying to buy would not qualify for free returns but a basically identical one would be. I was especially impressed that- her own - she also offered me a discount code. I would have never been able to know what chair to buy and how to get the discount. People like Jessica are often the face of a store, and Jessica was a friendly, helpful and smiling one throughout. I'm very pleased and very grateful. read more

This is quite possibly the worst Walmart I've shopped at. I'm never going back. Every single cart has some sort of annoying device on one of the wheels, must be so that the carts can not be stolen and removed from the property (which tells you right there what kind of location this store is in if you catch my drift). The wheels make these horrible screeching noises because of it, which doesn't help at all when you are bringing a partially sleeping 5 month old to shop with you. The store has the disgusting although characteristic waft of Subway scent which saturates all of the fabrics in the store and is so overwhelming that your clothing you are wearing pick up the smell if you are in the store long enough. Many things you want aren't in stock. The clientele who shop here is typical "People of Walmart" fashion, but my husband even commented as we were leaving, that you see people who shop here that you normally don't see in every day life. Don't. About a week ago I went here to buy a bathing suit. My body is a little chunky and pretty disproportionate with the fat I have. I'm one of those ladies that ALWAYS has to try my clothes on before purchasing them. Anyway, not only did they not have a selection of bathing suits in my size, but when I went to the dressing room to ask if I could try it on, the two women were talking to each other, looked at me, still talked to each other, then looked at me again like why you still here? And said "you can't try on a bathing suit" Now at this point I'm just mad. So I go to my boyfriend and tell him what just happened, and to be honest, neither of us have ever heard of a Walmart not letting you try on anything. So he started an argument with the two women and then ye woman says "I know my job" in a snippy attitude. We told the manager on duty after she wouldn't call a manager for us. That manager told us that they would tell the top manager. I highly doubt they did. And btw, the bathing suit was too small And here's the icing on the cake. I just went in tonight, because my parents are out of milk at the house. My dad is super picky and really only drinks whole milk. I know it's "supposed to" snow tomorrow, but the whole thing of whole milk was empty, while the whole thing of 2% was filled, with a whole pallet in the back. I'm sorry but what? Anyway, we got two half gallons instead, the guy that helped us was pretty nice tbh, he was doing dairy but I didn't see him name. He should be the only one getting a raise at this ghetto shit joke of a store. Anyway.. We get up to the register, and there's only two registers open. The woman at the self check out started closing it up already. There were four registers in total but two of them were closed already. I thought the one all the way at the other side of the store wouldn't have a huge amount of people, but when we got down there, there was a big line with huge cart full of stupid shit. So I said "ok, let's go back" When we went back to the line we were just In, the woman turned off her light and told my boyfriend she was closed. That was only ONE register that was open then. Are you fucking kidding me.? 10:30, you close at 12. Why is all of your employees in the front of the store goofing off, talking with one another, and not taking care of customers needs. Walmarts are, in general, the armpit of department stores. This Walmart, on Route 80 in New Haven, is the anus of all WalMarts. Located close to the ghetto and between two major highways, stinking like a combination of exhaust fumes and vomit, the first two things I saw while pulling into the parking (which is always a mess) were an unkempt, shirtless man drinking something out of a paper bag and a beat up minivan for a Bail Bonds company. I suppose if one gets caught shoplifting, there's a bondman right there to bail you out. Usually the lines are a mile long and only two registers open. Tonight, there were ten registers open and no lines because the store was like a ghost town. Could the clientele be afraid of COVID-19? Honestly, I didn't think anything would scare this group; not even a hailstorm of bullets. And why don't they ever have ten registers open when the store is busy? Also, there was no one at the exit door checking receipts and rifling through your bags like usual. (By the way, my attorney says that Walmart is not permitted to search your property without a search warrant - just like the Police have to obtain one to search your property. It makes sense). Plus the store was nicely air conditioned and abnormally clean - possibly due to the lack of shoppers. So I added a star for these reasons. Now onto the negatives. There were no workers at the deli counter at 7:40 PM so I skipped ordering lunch meat. I needed paint but the paint machine and the computer were both broken. Other than the avocados that looked great and priced reasonably at 64 cents, all of the other produce was more expensive than the local grocery store and of lesser quality. I wanted prepackaged cole slaw, but the expiration date was yesterday and they were completely out of the cat food my cat likes. They also had none of the TufStuff upholstery cleaner I use for my car. So I went in to buy lunch meat, lettuce, cole slaw, cat food and carpet cleaner and bought none of what I really needed. Forget about asking for help. I saw very few employees in the store; however a herd of employee smokers were hanging out in front of the closed entrance (closed due to COVID?) dropping the "f" bomb when I left. read more

I ( white person ) was at the self checkout on 7/15/23 @ approx 4:30PM & accidentally double rang something & the supervisor (with dark full shoulder length curly hair & dark black framed glasses) on charge REFUSED to come fix the register. There were 4 employees milling about looking at their phones doing nothing. NONE would respond. I tried to flag her down the first time & was ignored. I asked her a second time as she was walking by & she looked at me and ignored me. A few minutes later I was able to get a different employee & she tried to delete it but was unable to, so she walked over the curly haired supervisor & I could see her look up at me and go back to her phone. Ignored. the employee stood there waiting for a response from her. She simply stood there playing with her phone. At that time I was fed up, saw another register open up & went over there. Problem solved. Since the corporate contact page is conveniently down, I will post it publicly. LOUSY EMPLOYEES BELONG AT HOME. They DEFINITELY should not be promoted to SUPERVISOR. This gal (or was it a guy? ) has a problem either with working or with certain customers and belongs in the back stocking shelves, not up front in a customer facing role and definitely not in a supervisory role. The self checkout is a place where you have to pay attention & assist customer. If you dont want to do that then get a different job. How she / he ever got promoted I'll never know. If it were me she would be immediately FIRED. This will probably be my last visit there. The other Walmart in my area who has very helpful employees will get my business. You can find pretty much everything here within minutes of new haven, and went here for some light bulbs and groceries. The fresh fruit is still of inconsistent and often times low quality, although theyre trying. For example, they had some stemilt organic black cherries but some packages had mold inside unfortunately. The organic rainers looked better. Lots of variety in frozen and refrigerated stuff, one of the better areas of the store Store and parking areas dont look that great but standard for a walmart read more

OMG...This place is a nightmare! Stuff thrown around the store, there are hardly any staff members. Completely disorganized. I do not know how this place remains operational the way it is run. When you do find a staff member, they are sure to give you attitude or be on their cell phone ignoring the customers. I had to go to customer service yesterday for a transaction. There was one young guy working customer service desk and four young ladies standing behind him on their phones, gossiping and talking to each other, all while there are 15 -20 people in line. I couldn't disagree more with the other reviewer's comments about this store. It's not just meat and veggies that are out-of-stock, it's everything...including shopping carts! I will concede that it is one of the newer and more updated Walmart stores, but it is filthy. I swear that I've never gone to this store and found a shopping cart inside the front doors. The produce section is a joke: not only is the quality bad, but the shelves are barren. Another problem is the checkout lines. They have 20+ registers here, and I've never seen more than 10 open. Not even on a weekend. The staff is often rude, and forget trying to ask for help finding an item....you'd need a bullhorn to attract someone's attention. The last time I went (on a weekday), they were out of lettuce, frozen onions, skim milk, ketchup, Gillette razors (are you kidding me!!!), Cardoni's Caesar dressing, and canned mushrooms. The shelves of this store look like a blizzard or hurricane is coming. I support Ferraro's Market and the local Shoprite, but we always went here for toiletries and household supplies. We're trying hard to cut it out of our shopping schedule for good. I've never cared for supporting Walmart, but it has felt like a necessity in the past. This Wal-Mart is in a highly populated and dense area of New Haven. It usually services all of greater New Haven, East Haven, and even gets a lot of Branford and North Branford populations. It's super busy in the early days of every month. It's also busy around rush hour. The best time to use this store would be early in the morning hours of weekdays, and even a bit on the weekends. Even with the early morning hours being the best time, you may have problems with service excellence. I went there when it first opened about three months ago to get a video game. I went to the electronics area and looked for someone to open the door for me to get the xbox game. I asked a handful of store employees about getting help with it. Each employee said only two people in the entire store have keys for the electronics drawer. I waited for over 45 minutes to get the kid over there with a key. I called the front store manager, and she actually hung up on me. I almost broke the door open to get my game. I was super frustrated. I'm a customer and I feel like if I'm there at 7 am, and your supposed to be there at 7 am, then BE THERE. Don't show up to your work station late. If I showed up to my job 45 minutes late, there would be major problems, even if I was in the building on time. Freakin' Walmart, man. Every time I'm here I end up standing in an endless line with only a fraction of the things I'd intended to purchase and thinking to myself, "never again." Today they were out of chicken breasts, zucchini, iceberg lettuce, and basil- aka one third of my grocery list. The fruit and veggies you find in the produce department often resemble those from Sinjay's "New Zealand section" from my favorite episode of Flight of the Conchords. But it's Walmart, so it would probably be strange if it didn't look like that, and I think everyone who steps into this store knows what they're getting into. Worst delivery service. Multiple times my order has been cancelled after waiting 3 days, they've given DoorDash the wrong order then would not provide me with mine and now today I expected delivery at 2 (still being charged) and I call at 3:30 to find out why it's still there- "Kayleigh" says system is down no orders today? So when will my money be returned ? So when do you plan on calling and telling people? Or we should just sit around for hours and figure it out ourselves ?
