Just had surgery and am totally immobile, placed same day delivery order online at BJ's.com. Received a confirmation that order would be delivered by 7pm. Called the store at about 745 to check on order. After about 15 minutes and being transferred I was informed they don't handle those orders at the store and given a toll free number to call. I called and went through a ridiculous phone tree to be transferred to a representative that could help. Was transferred to a message that said they were closed. Called store back and got NO HELP. Went back online and saw my order was cancelled. Going to cancel my membership. read more

Love love love the curbside pickup during these tones. Ordered an item that was damaged and was able to repackage the large shelves and return. Unfortunately when I re-ordered and got it home it was the same one that I returned (I had marked pole with permanent marker). Back to BJ's I go. Customer service rep was able to open a new box and provide me with damaged item immediately. They also carry a variety of items I can choose from at any given time. read more

Simply put, this BJ's is pretty depressing. Whether it is the lower ceilings, darker space, sparse amount of shoppers, this hasn't been a great place to shop. The baked goods are excellent, but last experience found them out of some pretty key provisions. It is below the quality of the Wallingford location and on a different planet than the Milford Costco. My impression is that it feels like a store in which corporate managment has lost interest. read more

Between Amazon and Walmart, I think it's time to move on from the "wholesale club" thing. There are never enough check out stations open, and by the time I did complete check out, I just wanted to get home. Of course, that wasn't so easy. BJ's allows aggressive sales people from various home remodeling companies (Power Home Remodeling on this particular day) to vigorously harass their customers on the way out. It's like walking through a live barrage of real life pop up ads, except there's no AdBlock add-in to save you from the hassle. I finally make it past this annoyance and the have to wait behind 4 other customers to have my receipt inspected against the items in my hand like a common criminal. The prices in these clubs used to make such annoyances worth it, but no more.... Adios BJ's and Costco. read more

If I can give it no stars I will. Mariah was very RUDEEEEE ! First off there's only one line open on a Friday evening, ONE LINE ! So we decided to go to self check out since all the lanes were open. First there was an African american man who called her over to us to tell us we had more than 20 items. He could've told us that himself instead of having her do it. And when she came over she was very rude telling us we had more than twenty items. But they have one lane open who's line was long and filled with people. Instead of letting us just go, she's like "well I'm just telling you guys". Instead of counting our items and being at self check out walking around doing nothing, MARIAH should've hopped her ass on a register herself to help the line. Needed a tire due to a blowout. Called around and this BJs had the tire brand/size in stock, although a 30 minute drive from my home. Called Sat morning to schedule an appointment, the tire guy said none was needed, just come on down. A couple hours later I show up and the tire guy starts frantically, and loudly, exclaiming that "I'd better be prepared to wait as he was alone as the other guy called out, etc." I advised him there was no need to get loud with me and he immediately said "I'll get manager!" and stormed off. Manager came, they exchanged words and he said my car would be done in an hour and a half. No problem, I really didn't mind waiting, was just putt-off by his ranting like it was my fault he was overworked. Hey we've all been there, I can relate. An hour and half later I come back; my car is still outside untouched. Tire guy sees me, yells "I'm bringing it on now!" I wait another 45 mins until completion. When I go outside I see that there are scratches all over my wheels and he hammered on the wheel weights where stick-on weights should have been used. I didn't feel like arguing so I left and decided to contact corporate. Three days later I received a voicemail from the district manager. I called back the number and had to wait over 30 mins on hold to speak with him. He gets on, I tell him my story and he asks if I can bring the car back on Sunday to have the tire manager look at it. Tell him no problem. Sunday I show up and ask for the tire manager. Wait another 20 mins at the service desk so they can find him. He shows up and I explain the DM told me to come down so he could look at my wheel and he blurts out "Why did he have you come down on a Sunday, the busiest day?! Makes no sense to me...not your fault...but makes no sense since we're so busy!" We walk out, still with him commenting on how ridiculous it was that the DM made me come down, and he looks over the wheel. I point out the incorrect weights and the scratches and he says he has to talk to his manager to decide what they need to do and asks me to call back Monday. I have tried calling the main number several times and all it does is ring, no prompt, no menu. It is so frustrating how hard it is to get a hold of them. I still have no idea what they are going to do, no one has tried to call me and they have my contact info. The level of incompetence and unprofessionalism this BJs demonstrates is astounding. And this is shocking because the BJs I frequent is nothing short of excellent. read more

I purchased a set of 4 tires online from BJ's and scheduled an appointment for 5/13/23 at 12pm. A little after 10am on 5/13, a representative from BJ's called to reschedule my appointment as they were short staffed (mentioned a death in the family). I rescheduled the appointment for 5/17/23 at 3pm. I arrived at the North Haven location at 2:50pm. Again they were short staffed but I was told my car would be next. At 5:05pm my car was finally taken in and placed on the lift. Around 5:30pm the store manager informs me that they only have 3 of the 4 tires so my car cannot be done. I asked him to search for another set of tires to fit my car but he was unable to locate a set of 4. I did receive a refund for my tires and finally left the store at 6:30pm. I wasted over 3 1/2 hours sitting in the tire shop, which resulted in additional time off from my job and no tires replaced. This store is clearly not organized and their store manager does not have a clue on how to deal with or prevent circumstances like this from occurring. This was one of the worst experiences and it needs to be addressed immediately. An "I'm sorry" doesn't cut it and will not retain customers. read more

Great store to come shop in if you like bulk items. This store is very well organized and always has the items that my family needs. We are here about every other week doing our "big shop" to get the bulk items such as TP, paper towels, and of course food. We just found out the butcher will cut a big slab of meat for you at no charge and whatever thickness you would like. They then wrap it for you, so no mess at home. This is very convenient for my family. I really have no complaints about this store. Coupons are great, workers are very friendly, and I always come here for gas. It's definitely a big save of money. Just note you must buy a membership and keep it updated, just like Costco! read more

We've been members for many years and have watched this store (and chain) ride a steady decline downhill in recent years. Prices have gone up, units qty's have gone down, customer service has deteriorated and it takes an unreasonable amount of time to get out of this store due to the lack of cashiers. The good: Best gas prices in North Haven, Roasted Chicken for $5, fair prices on milk, bakery, consumable groceries, deli prices and quality. The bad: Employees with indifferent attitude towards customer service (probably because management keeps the ranks too thin), the shell game of increasing prices while reducing qty's (look at the k-cup coffee which went from $39.99 to $41.99 and dropped from 84 to 80 cups, which is a 10% increase. The amount of time required to navigate around this store in all areas from the service desk to the deli to the cashiers makes me wonder if the minor cost savings is worth my effort. I'm guessing that it may be better just to buy gas from them and never go inside but then again $100 a year for that membership privilege translates into the need to buy 333 gallons of gas per year from them. read more

I recently had an accident and have a back issue. I went over to the front end and asked a man if someone could help me with the 5 gallon bottles of water I needed for work. This man proceeded to tell me how to lift a bottle of water...bend at your knees when you lift the bottle. Thankfully I was in a good mood so I didn't have him fired on the spot. I should have lifted the bottle and then sued the store for their lack of intelligent and disrespectful people they choose to hire. What a disgrace this employee was and I only hope the fool reads this so he learns you don't speak to others this way and when you work in customer service, you better be prepared to assist others. At the tire center waiting at the desk for someone to come out and wait on me. I waited 40 min and still no sign of anyone. Finally guy comes out and asks if he can help me. I need my tire plugged and if it can't be plugged then I need new tire. He says they can't do it today. I'll have to make appt cause they are booked up for the day. Really? Too busy to plug or at least look at tire to tell me if it can be plugged? Sure let me make appt for u to look at it and then tell me I need a tire and you don't have it in stock. Come to find out Zack is the kid in the shop that is yelling and swearing to Willie about how much someone else makes an hour. Are you kidding me. I have to sit hear and and listen to him drop f bombs and other lovely words. So now after an hour they look and say tire can't be plugged, I need my original paperwork and they have to call Michiln regarding warranty. So I have to sit here and wait until they put 4 tires on someone's car before they can do that. It is a 2 hour wait wether u need tires or for them to call Michilin or to plug a tire. Seriously. Don't buy tires here. Had road hazard claim on 1 tire only 8000 miles. They charged me $81 for the prorate on a $139 tire. Said it's only fully covered for 9 mo. Called General tire and they said 1 yr. They lied to me. Waited 1 1/2 hrs for 1 tire and I had an appt. Plus they charged me $15 dollars to put it on. When I purchased the tires I had already pd $15 per tire to get all the benefits. I NEVER will use them again. read more

I want to like this BJs since it's so close but man or man, does the deli take forever. I wait 20 min despite the fact there are only 2 or 3 other people there. The people there are friendly and hard working but it's understaffed. At first, I thought it was just that specific day and things were slow. Now, after going back every week for 2 months, I'm done with the wait. Went to the one in Wallingford the last two times and bam, got the turkey my wifey likes so much in 5 min tops even when there were at least 6 other customers. Went here to order a cake for a 50th Birthday party last weekend 5/21/16 the prices was thevyoung lady that assisted us in with the cake and the cupcake was very helpful as a matter of fact she was busy doing something else and we asked her if there was anyone there that could help us and she was more than happy to help as usual they had their food tasting thwy even had a turkey meatball that was a really good didn't need sauce at all and then there chicken spinach pizza on flatbread delicious that was really really good they also have hot Purdue Wings in the front section where the sold the pizza right at the checkout barbecue and buffalo flavor wings looks really good just didn't stop to get that but the pizza was great I was recommended by 34 there also the price was wonderful too read more

I WAS COMPLETELY HUMILIATED @ BJ's ! I went in to exchange my vacuum cleaner I tried to b in & out bc I was having heart palpitations all day. After my transactions I attempted to wait but the line was so long so I walked up to the door monitor (if u will) & asked if she can view my receipt so I can go she stated, "No Get in line.." Everyone in the line had carts full of groceries & I had 3 items.. So I walked out.. I get to the light & was surrounded by 5 cop cars as if I stole something.. At this point my heart is pounding.. (Even more than it already was) The officer yelled at me to "turn my car off & give him my key fob" my children were confused yelling "Mom what's going on" Treated me as if I was a criminal.. Get back to the store the video was viewed.. They heard her announce (MEMBER WITH RETURN) when I walked in with the Vacuum & later saw me attempt to give her my receipt & she declined it.. What happened to customer service these days ? (Rhetorical) She could've easily looked at my receipt & sent me on my way but NO ! .. I went home to rest bc I was feeling even worse than I did before this all happened.. I worked here at the tire center from may til sept let me go due to minor things that happened during my first 3 weeks..seriously. Like filling out a work order wrong. Which never repeated itself but months later they didnt care. Nor have anyone proply train me for sales. Make only one worker do tire sales, install, propane, and handle the phone by themselves with no help. Yea id they ever try to hire you..id choose a different place for employment. Not to mention they promise you all these hours with decent pay but never deliver. 3 guys in the shop we never broke 25 hrs each. They do this so they can skate around paying employees benefits. Very disappointed in the produce. I bought a bag of broccoli that was marked sell by Aug. 5, but it was rotten when I opened it on July 29th. Brought a picture and showed it to a manager there, and her only comment was "oh, that's not good." Her solution was to mention it to the produce manager. No apology, no refund, nothing. Not planning to renew my membership. May even take them up on the offer to get a refund of membership fee when I'm not satisfied - and I'm definitely not satisfied. read more

Always good buys at BJ's regardless of location, but the biggest problem we have found at the North Haven store is the deli counter. There is NEVER enough people working and those that are working usually move pretty slow. And the number of people waiting is usually beyond ridiculous. North Haven BJ's, hire some meat cutters!!!! I just got a membership at a bj's in Manchester ,Ct because the Sam's Club closed. They do not offer a trial membership or a one day pass so you could shop and check it out. Ok, they let you look around if you want. They offered me a one year membership for myself and my husband for half of a membership cost. I took it. With the membership booklet they give me I also get a coupon book. You actually have to cut out the little coupons to present to the cashier. What? Didn't we do this back in the 70's and 80's?? I guess they mail you these coupon booklets and you must create your shopping list and cut the coupons before going to the store. Nope, not for me, archaic and wasteful. Also, the sale/coupon items are not marked in the store so you have to have this all done ahead of time with all your little pieces of paper cut out and ready. Seriously? Every other grocery store or wholesale club I belong to has a bar code on my card and if I have a sale item as one of my purchases the coupon automatically applies and is discounted after my card is scanned. I will use the one year membership but renewing it next year is highly doubtful unless they move into the 21st century and the electronic age. read more
