I've never felt so disrespected at a Walmart before. The manager, Ms. Onika, was extremely unprofessional and rude during my visit. Instead of trying to help resolve my issue, she spoke to me in a dismissive and condescending tone. I left feeling frustrated and disrespected as a customer. Walmart should make sure their managers treat customers with courtesy and respect, no matter the situation. While on vacation blk ppl always find a Walmart. This location became our vacation Walmart. The store has alcohol something we don't have in NC. The layout other than the alcohol is similar to what I'm used to. We got T-shirt's, bottled water, snacks, souvenirs and some alcohol during our trip. The store is in true Walmart fashion always packed. The parking lot is packed. The lines are long. Overall the store compares to all Walmarts. The cashier was friendly. This is one of the smaller Walmart in the Greater New Orleans area. Some would say its in an area that is recovering. What I love is the fact that this location has security and a very large parking lot which my favorite features. If you are like me, I love to park my car away from others cause we all know that people can be made disrespectful when it comes to opening up their doors and knicking your car. Even the business itself is not that of a true Super Walmart, it still has descent amount of space. My mother in her 80's had her car with a handicap plate tow away while shopping at the Walmart in Gentilly. She was parked in a handicap spot. Walmart should be ashamed to have a tow company towing away vehicles where people especially elderly people are patronizing their business. My mother had to pay $289.00 to get her car out of pound.. Walmart should find away to right this wrong.My mother gets a social security check and can't afford this expense.This makes me never want to shop at Walmart again!!!!!!! So sad read more

Entry and exit can be tricky because of how busy this location is. I have always been overwhelmed at the amount of people they get here. How they can have so few employees and so many customers and not have a riot on their hands is amazing. The store is on the small side, but well organized. Employees are disgruntled. read more

This is a New Orleans Walmart. It gets crowded as all get out, and it's not stocked the best. However it is the best Walmart inside city limits IMO because 1. No one has ever been a weirdo to me at this location, 2. I can always find a semi decent parking spot, 3. the sanitizer wipes by the carts are always stocked. read more

The store had items we needed on our trip. Upon entry they enforce mask wearing but are rude if you don't walk where they want you to walk. Many workers seemed irritated when greeted or addressed. However I found the sales associates OVERALL to be very pleasant. On 4 separate occasions I was asked if I needed assistance (shocked face) & the cashier & CMS were friendly as well. I find the store to be compact in comparison to others I've visited, one less star for me having to play bumper carts with others in the aisle due to the compact nature; but hey I'm EXTREMELY happy it's in the neighborhood... One of the worst Walmart's I've been to in a LONG time. The customer service and employees are horrible. My cashier literally said ONE word during our entire transaction. No smile, no politeness or hospitality, no urgency. They don't say excuse me when squeezing by you. The two other people in my group have never been in the south before. I was born and raised in Mississippi and brag about our hospitality all the time. I try to avoid this store like the plague. Some nights I gladly pay more to shop at Rouses. Parking is horrible, there's no enforcement of no parking in the emergency lane, and sometimes the cashiers are ignorant. A lot of times the shoppers are ignorant. It's hit or miss. The landscaping hasn't been maintained since it opened. So much so the irrigation pipes are exposed. I understand that it caters to a large working class/working poor population. Walmart could do much better though if they would make a few changes. Because it's small, it can't carry a lot of items, so there are times this location doesn't have the brand or item you need. I normally don't shop at Walmart because of long lines. But like this store's location. It is a very easy drive for me. It seems bigger than Tchoupitoulas store, but it is pretty much the same supercenter. You can buy groceries, clothes, cosmetics, household items, garden supplies, kitchen stuff etc- the usual. I'm lucky with my schedule I can shop at daytime on a weekday. I made a mistake of going to the store in the evening. I forgot how slow Walmart registers work.... If you can, avoid evenings and weekends. You'll spend an hour in the line. read more

On the morning of Saturday, 2/4/23 I visited the Walmart located at Chef Highway and Press Drive in New Orleans. I found the representative at customer service completely engrossed in watching her cell phone, instead of answering my question regarding package pick-up. I repeated my question to her three times before being waved away and told, "You gotta go over there," motioning to the right without looking up. When I walked "over there," employees were loading a Walmart van. After trying several times to get their attention, someone finally took my name but said nothing to me. I waited a little longer and asked if someone was able to locate my order, at which time I was advised that it would be out soon. It would have been nice to have been provided that information earlier. It was as if I were not even in their presence. I realized that the employees were totally oblivious to my presence when they proceeded to drop a wide-screen television and stated, " I'm glad no one saw us do that!" I thought, am I invisible? Did they not see me watch them drop a big expensive television and proceed to load it onto the van as if there was no problem? Never ever going back to the Walmart at Chef and Press again. read more

I do agree with Haley about the parking lot cart men; they are friendly and always speak to me. They deserve 5 stars! Although, that's the only part of this WalMart that deserves that. I ordered $180 worth of groceries for delivery scheduled for 10/29/22 from the store on Chef Hwy. Of course the money is immediately placed on hold in the bank account. Not only were the groceries never delivered but there was no text message or call. When I called the store I was given another # to call...called that # and was given yet another # to call. It's been 3 days and I have yet to receive the cancellation email I was told twice I would be receiving. Most annoying is the 7-10 day hold of my money! So I have no groceries and no money. Just had an awful experience at this location. Walked to a register 3 with no one in line. The cashier at the register wearing a name tag Whitnee was chatting with another employee. As I started to move items out of the basket she turns off her light and walks off saying she can't help me. They always have items in the wrong place, ALWAYS. An item will be priced as something and then when they scan it, it's different. And it won't be one item, it'll be 10 umbrellas in a row advertised for $10 and then they scan one and it's a different price and they say it's wrong. besides being a "boutique" hoodmart / this one doesn't take returns without the receipt from this store, because the pricing is different than other walmarts. its also got really bad bad feng shui at the checkout. I call this sardine checkout rarely shop here cause I'm not a fan of this chain... and when I do shop here its not for food, its usually something in other departments... however today we bought dog food in a big bag, and upon opening it to put into a sealed container? roaches came out of the bag. I realize this could happen anywhere, but of course it happened upon food we bought at this store. usually I buy dog food, and all human food anywhere but walmart.... mainly cause of cost. either way, you might want to clean up your aisles. read more

This Walmart is smaller than most but it still packs a punch, in a good way. The lines are always long but the cashiers keep them flowing. There's always someone nearby to assist when searching for items. The aisles are kept exceptionally neat. The prices are cool. The Walmart saving catcher also makes shopping really fun. I was there today trying to find the phones specifically for the Walmart Family Mobile service. There was a female employee who saw me waiting for help and just stayed where she was, looking at phones in an aisle next to the register. She looked over towards the register a few times, saw me waiting and smiled to herself. I guess ignoring customers is one of the pleasures of her job. A male employee was waiting on another customer at the time and after he finished he helped me with what I needed. If management wants to see how horrible she was it was around 9:45 am. read more

This Walmart in New Orleans East need to do some evaluation on the employees. They are not friendly or knowledgeable about where you can find things in the store which every frustrating. Some smell of marijuana and they uniform is not tasteful. The lines are always long with only 5 lines open this is a very busy Walmart open the lines! The fruits are always bad and they never have no one available to help. I don't know why they let people who don't value customers work there.
