I couldn't find them and asked an associate named " Wendy" where they were then she showed me where they should be...There were none availalbe. They do, however pay a gentleman to sit at the door 10 feet from the registers to tell you to take your cart with you+100 lbs of topsoil all the way through the store to the self checkout then haul it back to where you parked near the garden center door!!! I had heard about the renovations that the store had undergone, and it had been a while since I was in the store, but my wife wanted to check it out. I was impressed. This was a fairly new store but it had been allowed to have a run down look to it. The departments are still there but not in their previous locations. The entire place looks more upscale. Everything is bright, the aisles, and headers are well maintained. The clothing lines seem to have undergone improvements. You will never mistake Walmart for Macy's or Saks, but everything is just more inviting. Even the grocery area has been updated, The wine selections have been enlarged as have the grocery venues. We had intended just to look but upon exit I found I had spent well over $200. The employees are even friendly. If you haven't been by in a while, stop and check it out for a nice surprise. read more

Get in leave the keys and head back to town. 30 min later I get a call that they only have 3 tires instead of 4??? WTH?? Then they proceed to tell me I should head out to the other WMSC to buy the missing tire, as I wanted to get it done I accepted. After 1h and 30min drive as soon as I pulled in the parking I get another call from them to tell me that they found the tires!! WTH??? Your typical large Walmart with wide selection of basic offerings, very little style or service, and lowing prices that aren't nearly as great as an Aldi or Detweilers (especially for produce) for lower quality. Not the most fun or interesting shopping experience but you can get the job done and knock out groceries, hardware, and very basic fashions. Mostly self checkout. I have blood here at the red bus out front so it was convenient. I prefer to shop elsewhere. At one time Walmart at least gave lip service and some effort to stocking American made products. Now it's just name brands and Lower quality Walmart store brands at low but not the lowest prices and not nearly as high quality or interesting in variety as at a Costco, Aldi, Sprouts, or Trader Joe's. But you can get a hammer, low grade potato salad, deodorant and a shower curtain in one trip. read more

My wife and I had an appointment today at 11AM to have a trailer tire installed which we purchased on Walmart.com. The website asked if wanted installation. We indicated "YES". We were sent a reminder via email to confirm our appointment the day before. Just to be sure, we called ahead and reminded the person answering the phone that the tire purchased was a TRAILER TIRE and to confirm our appointment. Her indicted that everything was set for our appointment. So we got there on-time. There were ZERO vehicles being worked on. My wife went inside while I sat in the truck so as to not block anyone driving into the service area. First thing she encountered was "JOE" who was sitting and playing something on his phone. She waited a polite minute and he continued to ignore her. She finally spoke up and told Joe what she was here for. He gruffly barked at her and stated we cannot mount your tire, even though you bought it from Walmart. She then asked to speak to the manager. A person named "JUSTIN" came over and repeated the same, adding that they are worried about liability. He claimed that there should have been a disclaimer on the web site stating that not all Walmart Super centers with an auto center will mount trailer tires. All this time, there were no cars being serviced and the men were all just standing around doing nothing. Since we had already paid for the tire online, we took it and called Tire Choice on Derek Ave and they took us in immediately and gave us friendly, professional service. NEVER AGAIN WALMART! Very selective in who and what they stop you for on your way out. They need to be consistent. Today there's 3 employees at front entrance chit chatting. I guess he needed to look busy because he stopped me and said he was told he needs to check my particular item. Not only was the self check out girl watching me scan my items . They stand around you like your a dishonest shopper. I bought five boxes of tile before in this store as well as many expensive items and have never been stopped. Today , the guy had to check my receipt for my $16 garden sprayer. I watched many people walk out with much more shopliftable items and their receipts weren't checked against their items . Any other ethnicity person would have been calling them racial profilers . I placed my Walmart order online 3/21 as usual and in the special instructions box I wrote my temporary address. (I didn't change my store location as I wanted to stay with Osprey.) I scheduled Delivery for 1/21 4-6pm to be delivered to the Motel 6 in Venice on US Rt 41S, Room 114 and at the rear of building. (I'm staying in the motel while having my home repaired.) I hit traffic and missed the driver (who gave me no notice nor did he call) by 5 minutes. I immediately called the 800 Walmart number and the nightmare began.  The woman in customer service in India, (who I couldn't understand and she didn't know English which was very frustrating) said it'd be redelivered by 8pm.  By 8:45 NO Delivery.  I called again and got some guy in India, went thru the whole story, and he said it'd be delivered by 10pm!  Then at 10:15pm NO Delivery so I called yet a 3rd time and this guy in India told me "oh.....you'll get your order first thing in the morning ".  [By now I'm furious and starving since I had no food since breakfast, and my blood sugar was dipping!!]   Then the next day, Monday, I waited until about 9am and NO Delivery so I called Osprey to find out what the problem was. After spending about 40 mins on the phone with various "managers", I was told by Heidi that my order was sent, or went thru, the Venice store, so Osprey couldn't help me. So I then made 4 calls to Venice and thus another nightmare - the first call I sat on Hold for 20 mins until I hung up, 2nd call for 15 mins, 3rd call just rang for 17 mins and 4th just rang for 16 minutes!!  I finally gave up as it was obvious they weren't going to answer and I knew if I wanted food EVER, I'd have to go to Pickup and hopefully get my food which I'd paid for!  I made one last call and the agent cancelled my order and said he'd reorder again with Delivery for that night from 4-6.   Meanwhile I got a text about 5pm saying "your driver will arrive at 5:05pm". At 5:15 I got a text saying that Delivery was attempted but couldn't be delivered!!  Reallllly??  There's only 1 Motel 6 in Venice and it's on US Rt 41/ Tamiami Trail - the main road thru Venice and noone knocked on my door!!  There's NO excuse for someone to not find it...unless they have the IQ of a carrot!!!  Of course by 5:20pm I called and couldn't get thru to anyone yet again so I had to drive to the Venice Pickup with casts on both legs!  Once there I called into Pickup and had to go over the whole nightmare yet again and the guy finally brought out my order!!  The Pickup staff was less than apologetic for the delay, aggravation and stress I endured from this unprofessional, rude,  horrible display of zero customer service!! The Osprey manager said that due to the amount of stress this caused he'd leave a gift card at Customer Srvc for me and they would know about it. A week later I went into the store and to Cust Srvc and....Noone knew anything about it and Jason, the manager I spoke to,  wasn't available!  After wasting about 25 mins of MY time yet again, a supervisor came out who acted like I was being difficult for asking for the card & was clearly annoyed.  He told the counter girl to give me a $10 gift card!!  For my having to go thru hours on the phone for 3 days, having to drive to get the food, emailing and then getting an attitude from the supervisor, a $10 gift card is an insult!!   I guess now they figure they can just treat customers badly if they want. (Which is obvious in their stores now anyhow as proven by making customers bag our own groceries so they can get rid of employees, pay less in salaries & benefits and steal people's jobs!!)  I wouldn't refer or recommend Walmart. read more

My daughter walked into Walmart with her friend( they are two teenage girls) these four guys came and parked next to them and started screaming weird stuff at them saying they were waiting for them to come out. My daughter and her friend asked the lady checking them out if they could have someone walk them out, the lady asked the manager and the manager said they couldn't spare a worker then proceeded to say rude comments like "you can defend each other" and "it's 2 vs 1" and when the girls stated there were four grown men she just stayed quite and didn't say anything. As the girls are leaving there is a male worker by where the carts are blowing leaves outside with a leaf blower, he definitely could have spared 2 minutes to walk them to their cars. Thankfully the men were gone but the manager wouldn't even have the decency to walk them to the door to see if the guys were still there. A huge fan of the Wal Mart smart phone app, where they compare prices and give a WalMart credit if they find prices lower. Simple to scan the receipt. Only when I went to check out did I realize there were no cashiers. I would have to scan, bag and load all my purchases. Had I realized that when I began my shopping I would have left the store. It took me 45 minutes to get done! Walmart--"What are you thinking???" You May be saving money now by replacing your cashiers but what will happen in the long run? 10:15 pm. The aisles are crowded with pallets being packed out. Staff don't seem to care if you are looking for something or need to get through. I have been online to check out for almost 10 minutes now; self-checkout is the only option. Only four of the eight machines are open. Two of those are blinking red lights and waiting for the approximately 100 year old clerk who has no idea how to do anything to shuffle over with a roll of his eyes. At this point, I will be here until tomorrow. Even customers with huge wagons full of groceries are being required to go to self checkout. Oh goody now three of the four available registers are out of service. I completely understand that due to sheer size and favorable pricing, customers have to give up something to shop at Walmart. I have always say the less than five star experience is worth being able to buy toilet paper, apples, Night Lights and a litter box all in one stop, while tires are being put on your car. However, of late, staffing cuts have been evident. Checkout lines get longer and longer. Self checkout is more and more often the only choice. It is difficult to find anybody working at the store in order to get assistance finding an item, getting an item down off of a shelf, etc. Plus, the staff overall just seems far less happy, miserable even. Convenience is one thing but the shopping experience has to be at least marginally pleasant and in the last several weeks to months, that has become a rare thing at Walmart, here in Osprey and everywhere. Managers please pay attention. You might be saving some money, but I think you're going to be driving a lot of customers away. I'm to the point where I would rather pay a little more at Publix to have friendly staff, available checkout lines and a more pleasant experience overall. Cheap only goes so far. read more

While scanning out my own groceries at the self checkout the employee who stands in the area if needed whose assistance I needed for a short moment to only cancel one item that I no longer needed continued to stand and stare at me scanning my items and then interrupted me mid scanning saying I needed to scan XYZ while I was still in the process of scanning I told them yes I know I am not done yet and they continued to hawk over me then follow me to the exit of the store once I finished as if I was a pending thief. Really frustrating and insulting. If you want to knit pick over how fast I scan items or my order of scanning items you could have employees do that job again instead of primarily self checkouts. read more

I totally understand that it would be difficult to keep up with expiration dates on the entire meat section, BUT... I bought a pack of honey ham on a Tuesday. I opened it as soon as I got home to find a significant amount of mold on it. I immediately called the store and warned them that there might be more expired packages, and where to look for them. When I went back to return/exchange said ham on the following Thursday, I found that all of the honey ham packages were at least 2 weeks past date. When I briefly scanned a few other cold cut sections, I quickly spotted another 6 or 7 more expired packages. And when I say expired, I'm talking about 2 weeks to a month expired/ discolored/ moldy expired. Again... I understand a few packages slipping through the cracks, but this situation is not that. I'm calling it a complete lack of effort on the manager's part. And I would also question the chain of command/ communication established in this particular Walmart. So, I have been in lockdown in the UK for the vast majority of the year. To be honest with you, its been a constant state of survival. I came to Florida as Walmart I have heard is 'the place to be' when you are sad, stressy and depressy. This, however, is not the case. I wanted to bye two laptops, one for me and one for good old Lizzie up at the palace so we can do routine zoom calls. I just got back from one of my many trips to the Osprey "Wal-Mart"... Usually I "dread" going to "Wal-Mart" (Anywhere) because the service is usually so incredibly bad. Employees at most "Wal-Marts" hardly ever smile and many times when I would start approaching employees to ask for directions to find a certain item; they oftentimes see me coming and walk the other way or even rush into the closest swinging-door that leads to the back storage area to avoid helping me (No I'm not "Paranoid"; try it yourself and you be the "Judge"). Being a former manager for 31 years; I really notice poor service and it always bothers me. However, whenever I see someone "Going Above and Beyond the Best"; I always try to point that person out to management and "Thank" the employee for their "Great" service. Today I had such service at the local "Wal-Mart" by a gentleman named "Erik". He was working the sporting goods area and directed me to the exact location and item I was looking for; all with a good sense of humor while watching me trying to find the right isle and joking with me. I just wanted to say: "Thanks Osprey 'Wal-Mart' " and "Thanks" to "Erik"! I hope his "Service Skills" will be a good example for other employees of the store. I feel I must point out that this particular "Wal-Mart" DOES have a little better service than I'm used to seeing at other "Wal-Marts" I have experienced; but still can take a valuable lesson from "Erik". I came for vacation to Sarasota with my family and we stayed at siesta key and we went to this walmart to get some stuff we needed and we got a lot it was me im 20 years old my fiancee thats 25 our 2 year old son my little sister thats 15 and out cousin thats 15 and in all the stuff that we got we had two boxes for beer and two bottle of wine for the party that we where having at the house we rented so when we get to the part that the self check out asked for "an" id only one id the lady comes and asked for my fiancee and mine because Walmart has a policy That if two people come buy alcohol they need the id from Both persons ok so why they didnt ask for my sisters id aswell and my cousins and my baby boys its so stupid so they didnt want to sell the beer because they need my id too they ended up calling the police on us saying that we didnt want to leave the store my sister when she saw the cops fainted in the middle of walmart and they didnt even ask if she was ok they didnt want to help my sister ended up with bruces on her legs The problem is they assumed my fiancee was buy alcohol for me and they need my id how can you assume something so stupid they said that if dad came to buy it they would sell it its sooo stupidd i hated his walmart im from miami where theres alot more people from every part of the world and i felt discriminated, they didnt even tried to help. Yes, they are sometimes out of items, and sometimes have moved items, so that's a problem. But - the prices are SO much lower than Publix. And this is on brand name items where the content and quantity are all the same. Spend a $100 a week, and you probably save $20. read more

I have been placed in a very difficult situation because of the inconsiderateness and delinquency of the Walmart Pharmacy. Some weeks ago I presented prescriptions that needed to be filled and was told it would take a long time to transfer the prescription from my previous home and, after the transfer is complete, to order the medicines that I needed. A week later I called and was told that the prescriptions were filled and available. Walmart had taken its time filling my prescriptions and I took a little time to go claim it because this Walmart is not convenient to me. When I got there yesterday, they said the prescriptions had been re-shelved and would not be filled because they had now expired, even though I had submitted the prescriptions and verified their availability before the expiration dates. This leaves me with the choice of seeing a doctor to get a prescription authorized that was valid when I went to get it refilled or simply going without the medicine at all. I consider it malicious compliance that Walmart would not fill my prescriptions when in fact it was their pharmacy's delinquency that created the situation to begin with.
