If you literally want to die, or care VERY little about your life- by all means visit this Walmart. I swear to you this Walmart has given me mental issues. Every time I pull into the parking lot my hands LITERALLY start trembling from the fear of entering this awful hellish pit of horridness. Since it is the only Walmart near Central Phoenix, there are no alternatives. There have been days when I HAVE to get something from Walmart (I avoid it by all means believe me) and EVERY time I go in to the temple of doom, I come out more mentally damaged. Let me start off by writing a list of why this Walmart is so AWFUL: -The parking lot smells like pee and rotten meat. -The parking lot has the craziest cars in it with the most ridiculous car decals on them. For example: "R.I.P ______"... only there are 7 different names on the car!! -There are thugs in the parking lot who will stare at you! They are just standing there, watching people, it's like.. Really? -People ask you for money from left and right in the parking lot. It's like, I'm resorting to coming to Walmart, do you think I'm shelling out dollar bills? -When you enter the store- it is horrible. -People fight at this Walmart! Couples cussing each other out accross the bread isle, dirty kids running around without being supervised by their parents (kidnap danger!), meth heads, weirdos, gross people, crazy people ect. One time I was in the dry fruit section and this guy threw a can of cashews at this girl while saying, "Well then, f* you b*!". No one did anything... -The lines are SUPER long and they have VERY few cashiers. No other Walmart is this bad. I am always in line over 20 minutes at this Walmart! -The employees are AWFUL. They will literally tell you they do not care. They are scary looking and often try to intimidate you. -People are selling CDs and magazine subscriptions INSIDE the Walmart! -People harass you for money INSIDE the Walmart and will call you a b* if you do not give them money (happened to me while I was buying scented candles) *tear* -Security literally ignores you when you approach them about people harassing you at Walmart. -The employees talk to each other about inappropriate things in front of everyone (even kids). -Everything is dirty and disorganized. -Weirdos follow you around the store. -You literally feel that you will get mugged or raped while walking to your car, especially at night (scary feeling!). So now, instead of dealing with all this trauma, I go around to my beloved Target on the other side of the shopping center. There is a security guard (sometimes 2) at the door. The shoppers are normal people. The parking lot is the complete opposite of the Walmart one. The store is clean and organized. The employees are normal and are actually nice to you. So my last review of this store was flagged because I was a bit too real in my descriptions of the shoppers here. And God forbid anyone tell the truth about a freaking Walmart! I've been to this store about a dozen times through 2008-09. One night, I broke a shelf in my condo and just needed a can of white paint. Low and behold, a bunch of tweakers were hanging out in the paint-sniffing department! They invited me to their huffing party at 1am on a Wednesday, but I politely declined. I could share a handful of other stories but you should get the gist. They usually only have a single lane open when I'd go in late at night, which seems bizarre given the size of a city such as Phoenix. Pull up a chart of Phoenix crime stats and look at this specific area. I know this because I looked at a REO about a quarter mile West of here; the area's not so bad if only Spectrum Mall and Walmart were to fall into a giant sinkhole. The parking lot is another story in and of itself. It's littered with used diapers, fast food wrappers and all sorts of other junk. The shopping carts are all strewn about, sometimes in every few parking spaces, because the shoppers were unable to walk thirty feet and park them. It's too bad this city's turning into a huge ghetto. But hey, if I can get my Chinese-made junk for 8% over wholesale, it's probably worth the trip to Wal-mart, right? read more

Walmart is, and has always been a disgusting store to shop in. It is listed at the top in my personal book of "Places to Never Return". I would rather pay the extra 10 bucks to not have to be around the crack heads and obese smelly people that shop there. Call me a snob, I really don't care. That being said, I decided to try my luck with the online Site to Store ordering. I figured how bad can it be..? All I have to do is walk in and pick up the item. No shopping, no standing in line to pay.. Sounds painless right... I walk in and have no idea where the Site to Store pick- up area is. I try to ask the greeter, but he is busy picking his nose and arguing with a homeless guy. I go to the Customer Service Center line and stand there for 27 minutes. I actually saw 2 people go on break while there were about 10 of us waiting in line. When it is finally my turn some snooky clone tells me it is in the back of the store through the pet section. Sure that makes sense, much more sense than just putting a sign up directing me where to go. I get back there and wait another 30 minutes for the guy to get my order and bring it up. By this time I have to use the bathroom (I've been in the store over an hour). I walk back to the front of the store and the bathroom is closed. Someone took a diaper and wrote their name on the wall with the poo. No I am not kidding, it is really that disgusting. I got home and the patio set I bought was missing several parts. I have been going to this store for years and I buy stock for a resident's association spending over $200 once or twice a week, now I carry a Medical bag with a remote that I have to carry for a implant in my back and was told that I would have to leave the bag in a locker, when I told the employee that it was a medical bag I was told that would have to empty my bag and leave the bag in a locker and take the remote with me, this is no way to treat the disabled and I think this is unacceptable and will no longer step in to this store and am going to file a complaint with ADA and after reading other reviews on the store at 1607 W. Bethany Home Rd. I am not the only one that feels this way. this store is a black-eye for Walmart but with all the low reviews I guess they just don't care. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this Walmart. On my first visit, I was denied entrance "Lonnie & Maggie" because I had a bag with me. On my second visit, an employee "Fenrir" followed me through the store the entire time until I got my item and paid at the register. I felt targeted, discriminated against, and profiled throughout both visits. As a person with a disability, I felt this treatment was not only unjust but also a failure to acknowledge or respect my needs. No one should feel uncomfortable or unwelcome while shopping, especially in a store that claims to serve all members of the community. This experience has left me feeling disheartened, and I hope Walmart takes steps to train employees on better treatment of all customers, regardless of their circumstances. read more

As another reviewer mentioned do NOT come here if you have a back pack, or else you will deal with the dreaded locker's aka the tweeker storage units. And let's not forget the Phoenix police officer's standing at the front just waiting to pounce on anyone foolish enough to pull any funny business. I come here out of sheer laziness, and the fact that it is easy for me to get to off the light rail. 2 stars for the prices and -3 for the customer service. Had to return a vacuum I wasn't happy with, had the receipt and all the packaging, only had it for a day, used it once, it sucked (no pun intended because I wish it sucked harder), so wanted my $129 back. Dude at the counter said NO. Said they don't return "electronics" over $25. It's a belt and a motor. Just because it uses electricity does not make it an "electronic". If this is true, then my girlfriend's vibrator is an electronic, and so is the light bulb in my garage ceiling. Stupid. I shan't be returning to this store. This Walmart location currently holds the award for worst Walmart in America. This store not only is a horrible place to shop and work (I will have to imagine), but it is also a total poison for the surrounding community. So many disgusting people are attracted to this Walmart location. Shopping here makes me feel really good about myself. I have never felt so beautiful before I started shopping here. The Wal-Creatures at this store are real and they are scary! I would highly recommend not shopping here after dark or ever for that matter. Exciting place. They allow dogs in the store so you get to deal with messes on the floor sometimes, dogs licking the food, getting a wet nose pressed against your leg and my fav, getting bitten. 70 lb Pitbull being "controlled" by a 80 lb Tweaker, you gotta feel lucky. And then there's all the ex-cons, and soon to be convicted, happy to scream at people who show "disrespect" by making eye contact. It's like being in an episode of Lockup. Very exciting just to watch the fights. Food prices are higher on many items than other places like Food City and WinCo and of course selection on food is really poor. read more

Overall, this store is very well taken care of even in the drug infestation in the surrounding areas however, there's one employee by the name of James older Hispanic man that stands at the door. He is very rude attitude and just simply nasty. Walmart has to do better with the greeters I understand this issues with stealing concerns however you must learn to respect customers. One day i was going to do oil change, the mechanic was not in the mood, he told me we have a difficulty opening the drain plug because it stuck inside and your car oil panel needs to be replaced, i felt there is something wrong, then i went to a different place to change the oil. after i told them the story, they said the drain plug is completely fine nothing wrong with it and they showed it to me, i was like why they did that!!!!! read more

My wife recently had surgery, and needed some bras that fit her well. I went to three other stores before trying this Walmart. The clerk in the woman's department, Candi, was incredibly nice, understanding and helpful. Very good for a man who does not buy bras frequently. Very uncomfortable store to shop in. Seems they have police stationed due to serious issues that go on in this store. College daughter and friends have been harassed in this store and followed to their cars by men. Came here as they offered college student discounts, but as they no longer offer, we will never step foot in this horrible store again. read more
