I've always liked this store. It's large, the prices are good, and the employees are generally friendly. However, several issues have been making my shopping experience increasingly uncomfortable. I often feel like I'm being watched. When I walk down an empty aisle, someone seems to appear almost immediately, and they stand very close to me. The self‑checkout area is especially uncomfortable -- the employee there watches me so closely that it feels accusatory. I've never stolen anything in my life; I'm the person who turns in lost cell phones. This is the only store where I ever feel this way, and it's discouraging. The large blue baskets employees push around are another concern. I've been bumped or hit by them more than once. Recently, an item I canceled at checkout was accidentally left in my cart by an employee. I drove back to return it because I didn't want anyone to get in trouble, but the situation added to my frustration. The produce section also needs improvement. Some items are fine, but the potatoes are often old, and the lettuce is frequently wilted. The layout of the produce area makes things worse -- the slanted tables and narrow pathways cause constant congestion, and customers end up bumping into each other. I hope these issues can be addressed. I like this store and want to continue shopping here but thinking of changing to a different store. The overall experience has become stressful. Improving the layout, produce quality, and customer interactions would make a big difference. read more

Meh, not the best Walmart for me. Some have been cool to visit but this one didnt do it for me. I bought a few food items and did get a box of tofu for $2. Also found a specific packaged tuna I like. Don't buy any produce here until our USG can actually get their act together and stop pushing Cylospora and Salmonella outbreaks to you via big box stores. All of the cosmetics here are under lock and key, nice that America has come to the point where everything is locked up. Self check out is a pain and the scanner were super dirty. Like can someone wipe them down?? And why can you not tap your card and need to either swipe or inset. Get with the 21st century please. read more

I'm typically not a Walmart shopper, but I came here specifically because I heard about the Hello Kitty Valentine collection of plushies, gift sets, and other HK goodies. Since I was there already, I walked through the store and found other HK treasures. I walked away with more than I had planned to purchase, including a pair of HK shoes, lounge pants, and t-shirts. I had never realized that Walmart carried so much HK merchandise! I'll have to come back and see what other good stuff I can find! This walmart has the worst layout and also there are too many workers just standing idle and congregating with other workers being inefficient. This is probably why this Walmart is so unorganized and messy. The workers are also really rude. My cashier didn't know where anything was. read more

Did you know that Wal Mart bakery offers this beautiful flower bouquet made out of a dozen cupcake for under $20??? This has gone viral a few times. They offer a variety of items. You can pick butter cream or whipped icing. Chocolate, vanilla or assortment for the cake. Choice of color frosting. You create the order on line then punch in your zip code to see which location for pick up. I would not use curbside pick up at this location. I've given the location the benefit of the doubt multiple times now and each time, the entire lot is full with no open spots to park for your pick up, the poor workers are out in the heat and are very clearly understaffed. It takes at minimum 40 minutes to get your order. read more

This is definitely a supercenter. Poway has one of the larger Walmart locations in San Diego and you can usually find what you need here. Inventory can move pretty quickly, especially on the grocery side. They do their best to keep things stocked, but sometimes they can't keep up due to the sheer volume of sales. With that said, they move a lot of people through, but it rarely feels overly crowded. I come here for the same reason many others do. They often have the lowest prices around. The store is kept neat and clean, and the employees are very helpful when approached. Check out can be hit or miss. Sometimes you have to wait in a line and other times you can walk right up. The wait is sometimes caused by closed stations. They are good about always having an employee in the self checkout area to help if needed. read more

I just got back from an extended forty day trip and this morning I tried to place an order for delivery on their website. First I wanted cucumbers --- no cucumbers of any type available. Then I tried American cheese --- out of stock except for American cheese food. Then I tried eggs --- out of stock. Next I tried orange juice --- out of stock. Then I tried butter --- out of stock. These are not unusual items. They are staples. Apparently these items will be available in 3+ days. What's going on? I called headquarters and they told me that people were stocking up for the Christmas season (unlikely on Dec. 5) and then something about snow (I live in sunny San Diego). read more

There was an unusually large number of Spark orders, resulting in extended wait times. Despite the pressure, Danny consistently checked in with me, reassured me that my order had not been forgotten, and kept me updated as the team worked through the backlog. His calm and respectful communication helped reduce a great deal of stress during a very challenging time. While waiting, I also observed multiple Spark drivers approaching him--some frustrated or impatient--and he treated each person with patience and professionalism. He immediately radioed in to check their order status just as he did for me. It was clear that he was doing everything he could to keep the process organized and moving. Operational Concern: In recent weeks, there has been a strong increase in Spark order volume, but not enough designated parking spaces to accommodate the number of drivers. This creates congestion and additional pressure for both Spark drivers and associates. I have also noticed that employees in this department seem overwhelmed to the point that multiple people have been calling out, which puts even more strain on the remaining team members. Suggestions for Improvement: To support your associates and improve efficiency, I strongly recommend the following: 1. Expand the number of numbered parking spaces designated for Pickup and Spark orders. 2. Hire additional staff for the Pickup/Spark Orders department to help manage the growing workload and reduce stress on the current team. Unacceptable Wait for Curbside Pickup - Over 1 Hour and 20 Minutes! I had one of the worst experiences ever at the Poway Walmart Supercenter on Saturday, October 25, 2025. I arrived at 6:10 PM for my online curbside pickup and checked in through the Walmart app right away. What happened next was absolutely unacceptable -- my order didn't arrive until 7:30 PM, after waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes in my car. The entire curbside parking area was completely full, and everyone around me was waiting just as long. Some people couldn't take it anymore -- after waiting endlessly, a few drivers gave up and drove away without ever receiving their orders. One woman was extremely upset and even confronted an employee, but nothing changed -- everyone else just kept waiting helplessly. There seemed to be only about three employees handling the entire pickup area, and they were moving painfully slow. They would roll out a cart with just one or two small orders, drop them off, and then slowly walk back inside with empty carts -- no urgency whatsoever. It made absolutely no sense why they didn't bring multiple orders per trip, especially when 20 or more cars were waiting. When my order finally arrived, the young male employee didn't apologize or acknowledge the huge delay at all -- he just handed over the bags and left. To make it worse, the car next to me (which arrived about 10 minutes after I did) got their order before mine. Clearly, there's no proper system to track who checked in first or manage the queue fairly. If this is what Walmart calls a "convenient" curbside pickup service, it completely defeats the purpose. It would have been faster to go inside, pick up my own items, and check out. At this point, Walmart should either reintroduce in-store pickup counters or temporarily suspend curbside service until they can fix this broken process. After wasting an hour and twenty minutes of my Saturday evening, I honestly feel that Walmart owes every waiting customer a gift card equal to at least the local minimum wage for the lost time. This level of service is beyond disappointing -- it's simply unacceptable. read more

This is just a review for the bakery/deli sections - don't pass on these for catering! We ordered slider sandwich trays for a baby shower and they came with so much meat and cheese - we received loads of compliments from our guests. We did order 2 trays of cheese-only sandwiches and received only one (got an extra tray of meat sandwiches instead) but it worked out. I would recommend double-checking your order before you leave. Their bakery has a great selection of custom cupcakes with a variety of different frosting colors and sprinkles so you can something that matches your event. Very reasonably priced! Everything! They unload all old and expired as well as dented cans on the customer who orders groceries on line. Then asking us to bring things like expired milk and eggs and dented cans and soggy vegetables back to the store for refund. ( dented can so severe they cannot be opened with a can opener). Obviously I ordered on line so I don't have to go to the store. Also when ordering goods on line like clothing they use as much packing materials as they can. Baby clothing Doesn't need packing materials because it is not breakable. Today I received an on line order of baby clothes, about 10 items that got packed in a box the size of a small refrigerator and paper stuffing for miles. Do Not Purchase a Bike Here! I guess the adage 'you get what you pay for' and 'buyer beware' are applicable. I came in for the convenience of getting my 6 year old her first bike without the hassle of a massive investment if she didn't get into cycling. I had her pick it out and watched her excitement grow exponentially. We wheeled it to the front, purchased and left without any hassle besides having to struggle to get the bike into the back of my car. When I got home and attempted to fill up the front and bike tires with air, the front had no issue but the back did not. It would be so much easier if you have the option to get the bike in a box and install yourself. After disassembling the bike to get to the inner tube, I discovered two classic holes from a poor installation. After having replaced or patched a number of tubes over the years, I've had this happen where you pinch the tube in between the rim and the tire (snakebite). This bike should not have made it to the floor as it was. I dragged my child back to the store (after the glimmer and hope in her eyes has all but disappeared) and waited patiently in line to explain the situation (watching people return items that have clearly been used) and hopefully be credited for at least one of the new tubes (one for immediate use and a spare) I would have to purchase. After speaking with two individuals, I had to explain the situation to a third and was told that there was nothing they could do unless I brought the bike back so their bike mechanic could replace the tube. To which I should have replied, 'If your bike mechanic can't install it correctly the first time, how can I trust this person to install it correctly if I bring it back." The replacement tube is $5 but the two hours wasted and flippant attitude of the manager who didn't even offer an apology for the hassle was completely unacceptable. I see a number of reviews from patrons unhappy with the Poway WalMart, but that has not been my experience. This is a huge super center, with products of all types available, from garden items to sports to household goods to clothing to food. Whenever I am searching for some hard-to-find item, it's my go to place. And since I am there anyhow, I stock up on some foodstuff, and the money I save helps defray my gas costs to get there. I find the staff to be friendly and helpful, and they seem to understand that they have service jobs. Returns are handled smoothly, though there are sometimes lines with difficult customers who slow things down. I have only had one trial with their curbside pickup arrangement. It wasn't instantaneous, but I felt that they were adequately staffed and eager to do their jobs. There might be times which are worse than others for this service, but I think it is still better than waiting for and paying for shipping. read more

I have a feminine voice and short hair. I was waiting for my partner in the women's restroom. A worker came in and asked what I was doing in the bathroom. I said waiting for a friend. She asked if im a boy. I said no. She asked if im sure. Yes im sure. She asked about four more times and I told her I would be happy to step out of the bathroom if it'd make her feel better. She mumbled something and then radioed another worker to come over to the situation. I stood outside the bathroom and she followed me there and told me to wait. I asked what she needed from me and she checked my ID to verify my sex at birth. My partner came out of the bathroom after that and asked what in the world she's doing and the worker started getting all apologetic. It has been years since I have come to this location so this is the first time I have been here since pre-Covid. I scheduled an order pickup so I could swing by and grab some groceries between the airport and home. They had the order ready perfectly on time, were super fast bringing it out, which was great after such a long flight and longer day, and we were on our way in seconds. I like that the order pickup area is big and spacious, definitely no trying to squeeze into tight spaces here just to get some bread. My produce looked great, so I was happy with all the products they picked out. I was a tiny hair annoyed/amused that - Since California charges for bags - you pay for each bag they pack for you, unless you are bringing your own. Normally I have my own, but not my car and I have luggage in my trunk, so I requested their bags. And several of the bags had one item in them. I probably could have used half of the bags that they used and nothing would have been squished or overpacked. Like one bag had 10 cans of heavy canned goods, but one bag would have just a pack of razors, while a third would have a bottle of sunblock. They reeeeeeally could have consolidated and packed it a little better. I'll definitely schedule another order pickup soon though. read more

I asked a client about a pair of casual pants he was wearing (where did you get those) that looked nice and comfortable...he said believe it or not I got them at Walmart. So I went here looking and found them...I bought four pair and absolutely love them. So lightweight and comfortable with a great price tag. While inside I was looking at the store and was impressed at this location so I will start using them from time to time and se if they can convert me. I was impressed with the service at the fitting room...the person did a good job of making sure you carried in and out the same number of items and made sure you didn't leave anything behind. I appreciate that so when you do go in it's nice and clean. I hate a messy dressing room. So great job. read more

Creepy coming to pickup in curbside with all the men hanging out in the parking lot. I dont understand why they are allowed to loiter in the parking lot but everytime I come here there are at least 8 men parked in curbside parking some 3 to a car some sitting in the dirt smoking. They arent there for groceries its a hangout but its creepy. These men watch people drive by looking for parking while they play cards and smoke occupying the curbside spaces. read more

On 10/17/25, I needed to purchase several sundries in the enclosed area for razors, nail files, and shampoo. All of the items were locked up on different isles. I interacted with 4 different employees who continued to shuffle me off before I could access all the locked cabinets to get the items I needed. One employee just finished locking a cabinet and told me he could not unlock it then walked away. I understand why things need to be locked up, but Walmart needs to train and adequately staff the area so that customers can get all the items from all the isles from all the locked cabinets at one time. read more

Very surprised at all the negative reviews. Maybe some are legitimate, but we have shopped at the Poway store for years and the very few issues I've encountered have been promptly resolved. Customer service, cashiers, retu rn policies, rx services have always been beyond satisfactory. When you find it necessary to keep within your budget, it's hard to find a better place than Walmart to shop. We are very pleased as well, with Walmart+. For those experiences we all encounter at some point, whether you're elderly, a new Mom, or just not feeling well enough to go shopping it's a very economical solution and they deliver pharmaceutical orders. The ordering process and delivery are especially easy. And...we have not found, so far, any issues with products that we order for delivery to be of poor quality. read more

On Octtober 4th 2024 I recieved a delvery of $511.00 worth of groceries that I did not order. I caught the instacart delivery gal before she left and made her take all 59 items off our front porch and put them back in her car. . She was on the phone out in my driveway for quite a while with her managers . She told us not to worry and that we would be fully refunded. Weii we were not. I tried calling the Poway store with the order number to find out if the groceries were in fact returned? The assistant manager ( Jesus) told me i needed to call my bank. I said "what does this have to do with my bank"? "This is between the store,the shopper,and the customer". He accused me of speaking to loudly to him and hung up on me! Another Walmart pickup (only because they were the only store in the area that had what I needed) they expanded the curbside pickup area (I assume for the holidays) and when I pulled up I got the last pickup reserved spot. To give you a picture people are just sitting in their cars or standing by their cars but not a Walmart employee in sight. I was the store's Ace Stockman/Cartpusher from June 2021 to June 2023 and every night I'd always get all the shopping carts back inside the store including helping customers with stuff whenever I'm inside or outside the building. Management was supportive as well. The best coach I've worked with at the front end during my time is Amber. She is kind and also funny.
