Now this is a solid Nordstrom Rack location! Right before my trip to New York I knew it was going to be cold with ice and snow so I really wanted to try and find some new boots that would be good for that kind of weather compared to San Diego haha. This store is so much more organized than other locations in San Diego and just felt cleaner. I actually went to make a return and I wish I knew the associates name that helped me he was super kind and actually ended up helping me again when I found a pair of boots to buy for my trip! I had a great experience here and this will be my go to location moving forward! read more

I've never left a store more dissatisfied and angry. I visited on Sunday, 12/28/25. A young man with long hair helped me try on glasses. I picked a pair of Saint Laurent sunglasses whose tag was next to the glasses but no longer attached. He put them behind the counter while I waited in a long line to check out. Once I got to a register, the tag was missing. The staff lost the tag some time between me trying the glasses on and paying for them. The cashier paged the same man for a price. During the 15 minutes it took him to produce a new tag, they offered me a dirty old Coach sunglasses case since the were supposedly out of Saint Laurent cases. This means that despite having at least 25 Saint Laurent glasses in their display, they don't have a single matching case? So annoying and lame. He finally produced a new tag, hands it to the cashier and says, "these are final sale". She relays the message, "these are final sale" to which I asked, "why?" and she says, "because that's what he told me". ALSO, the new tag was for a different, MORE EXPENSIVE item. $20 more than the original tag. So do you really think I'm going to purchase an item that doesn't have a matching case, is MORE expensive than when I tried it on 20 minutes ago and is now final sale. In what world? Do you really think I am that stupid? I can't believe this is acceptable service to you. Shame shame shame. read more

Was shopping for my daughter today , who was not with me, so sending her photos of things, to see if she liked them, but nothing was sending. I asked a clerk if they could hold my items, so I could go outside, where I would have service. He asked his manager who quickly said "no, we can't hold." Ummm what? This is why people shop online. I had the worst experience at this Nordstrom unfortunately. Which upsets me because this WAS my absolute favorite one I drive up there from lakeside. Today I went there to try and exchange a jacket I bought for my boyfriend for Christmas but it didn't fit him so I wanted to get him something else, the man at the register said I wasn't able to exchange it because it had some lint on it! Which is crazy because the jacket was new the tags were still on and it was almost nothing of lint it had! He said it wasn't in a sellable condition to be able to return . I came to this Nordstrom Rack location to return an unopened UPPAbaby stroller purchased through Nordstrom.com, following Nordstrom's official return policy. Not only does the policy permit such returns, but my return documentation specifically suggested returning it to a local Nordstrom Rack. Despite this, the store wrongfully denied my return. The store manager, Fiona, falsely claimed that returns of baby strollers were at the store's discretion, despite no clear policy stating this. To confirm, I immediately contacted Nordstrom corporate and another Nordstrom Rack location--both confirmed that unopened baby strollers are eligible for return at Nordstrom Rack locations. When I called this store back to address the contradiction, I was met with hostility and a vague, inadequate explanation. I also requested written documentation supporting this so-called "discretionary" policy, and Fiona admitted that no such written policy exists. Despite this and a call from Nordstrom corporate, she still refused to accept my return. In complete defiance of official Nordstrom return policy. This stroller cost $650--this is not a minor purchase. For Nordstrom to refuse a legitimate return based on an unwritten, selectively enforced policy is unethical, potentially illegal, and predatory. I can't say for certain why this location chose to make an exception to their own policy in my case, but the inconsistency raises serious concerns about bias or discrimination. I filed complaints with consumer protection agencies, including the BBB, the California Attorney General, and the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Shoppers deserve transparency, fairness, and consistency--this location failed on all counts. read more

By far the worst Customer Service they don't know what they're doing. You call in trying to get them to return the item instead they click picked up item then they don't email the receipt. Then the department manager doesn't know how to do it so they get another manager, who is supposed to be able to know how to send me the receipt showing the item was returned!!! I will never purchase another item on nordstroms.com again it's too much of a hassle when trying to return or pick up an item or extend a time frame to pick up an item. Then they don't even have a bag to put all the items in when it's picked up. I don't know if this is incompetence or they just don't know what they're doing. read more

I ordered a sweatshirt from NordstromRack.com. When I received it, I found it's damaged (a hole on it, a lot of lint balls and a temporary tag). So I went to Nordstrom Rack store on Carmel Mountain Road to return. And the store manager told me that I have to ship back to Nordstromrack.com because I didn't purchase from their store. Purchased items on 5/26/2025 and went on vacation. Tried to return an item on 7/26/2025 and was denied. The young girl at the registry said I was outside the return window which is 60 days. Carmel Mountain is an area you don't take lightly for their wealth, yet this Nordstrom was a total lost, they didn't have the same quality stuffs like other locations that I've been to, not enough stuffs, they have a lot of females clearances, and that's it. Everything stays regular prices, basic standard items, nothing high end being filled with this place, clearances for males were low zero to none, on their handbags they might have an ok average amounts, but their backpacks and luggages were just meh; not a lot of jewelry either. read more

If you're willing to stick around and go through rack after rack you'll eventually find something worth buying. Yes most of the clothes and shoes here are older than what you'd find at the retail store at the traditional malls but hey it's cheaper! Lines do tend to get long if a sale is going on. Everything from sunglasses, perfumes and colognes are here all in one place. Just need to know where to look. Came in recently and bought some clothes for my son. Keeping my outfits fresh by mixing in a few items from the rack. Thanks for keeping me trendy without leaving me broke! read more

Worst customer service I have been experienced for 30 years in U.S. I experienced the worst customer service I have ever experienced in your store today 1-25-2025. I bought lots of stuff at your store on 1-21-2025 and spent $643.96 on that day . I purchased one perfume set that day, but the check out clerk did not tell me all perfume are final sale , neither the rack that placed perfume did not have the sign saying final sale , the check out clerk told me 30 days refund policy if I have receipt (I asked her what is your refund policy because I have not been in Nordstrom rack store to shop for years) . I found a cheaper price online at fragrance.net for this perfume set $20 cheaper on the night of 1-21-2025, so I bought one online at fragrance.net and got ready to return the perfume set to Nordstrom rack later. When I returned to Nordstrom rack this morning on 1-25-2025 at Carmel mountain plaza rack at 11940 Carmel mountain road , ate 100, San Diego , Ca 92128, the clerk , the manager , the higher manager told me I can't return the perfume set . I was in shock and she insisted to give me store credit instead of giving me the refund . I told them when I bought this , the check out clerk did not tell me no return for perfume set. I was forced to take the store credit for returning the perfume set . I was very upset and angry and I went home to get most of the items I bought at this store on 1-21-2025 and want to return them back to this store . I came back this afternoon and wanted to return one of the item , one shoe , $249.97, they told me I can't return it because the tag on the shoe bottom was worn out , they can only give me the store credit instead, I never worn this shoe out since I bought it and I did not notice the tag on the shoe was worn out when I bought it . There is the other price tag inside the shoe , so when I bought it , the check out clerk can scan the price . I felt so cheated by this store. I was so pissed and so angry . I told the manager I don't want store credit because I will not come back to this store again because it's the worst customer service I have ever experienced for 30 years in U.S. the clerk today even told me I should not buy this shoe if the condition was not good . I bought this shoe at that time because the price dropped to $249 from $499, yes , it was dirty at that time , but I thought I could return it later if I decided not to keep it Within 30 days with the receipt and with the price tag is on. But it turn out like this , I could not return it , only could get store credit . I ended taking the $249 shoe away without returning it at this store. Date of Experience: January 31, 2025 On January 30, 2025, I purchased two skirts--one in medium and one in large. I had a wonderful experience with one of the nicest cashiers, Fiona, who was incredibly helpful during my purchase. However, I had to return one of the skirts the next day because it was the wrong size. Unfortunately, my return experience with a cashier named Lynette was very disappointing. From the moment I approached the register, she was rude and didn't even greet me. While I understand that everyone can have a bad day, her attitude throughout the entire process was unacceptable. She instructed me to take the item out of the bag and retrieve my receipt, which I didn't mind. However, she also ordered me to bring her the headband I was purchasing, even though it was already very close to the register. While at the counter, I realized that the replacement skirt I had picked was the wrong size. When I politely asked if I could quickly grab the correct one from the rack, she questioned me in a condescending tone, asking if it would take long. First of all, it's not my job to retrieve items from the rack, but I was kind enough to do so to save her the trip. Despite this, she continued to give me an attitude throughout the entire transaction. When I asked for her name, she responded, "Lynette," and immediately followed up with an aggressive tone, asking, "Do you have a problem?" I shop frequently at Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack and have always received excellent customer service. However, this was by far the worst experience I've had with a cashier. I hope this matter is addressed, as Nordstrom is known for its exceptional service, and it would be a shame to let one employee tarnish that reputation. i was returning shoes at night one hour before closing. nordstorm return says you can go to checkout OR order pickup so I stand in order pickup line. older lady brown frizzy hair lady says you have to stand in the main line. okay whatever. when I went to return my shoes at the register lady was unfriendly, didnt even say hello, they need to work on their etiquette and attitude. she asked me for the order number i said i have the barcode? she DIDNT SAY A WORD. then she proceeded to scan my items and tap on the screen and printed my receipt. which meant she couldve done that instead of me frantically looking for the order number for 2 minutes. Not a lot of shoes in smaller sizes for men. Women's clothing was pretty disorganized. A lot of shoe isles looked like a tornado hit them and staff was nowhere to found on the sales floor. I saw a kid riding a scooter in the store and staff did not even notice. A lot of items had way higher list prices than they should have, resulting in still too high of a price after discount (who are they trying to fool?) Return policy is a bit ridiculous, I was told you can only return something if it's unworn and you have the tags and receipt. Despite this the cashier asked if I wanted to keep the box for the shoes. And twice now the customer service rep at check out has left the security tag on one of our items. (strange it doesn't set the alarm off as we have left. ). I then asked another customer service rep to help me see if they had a product (that I had in my hand but was not my size) at another location. Her reply was "ya, we don't do that anymore. Yikes. I've always loved Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack but this one is definitely lacking. The place is always a mess, clothes on floor, nothings organized, and the shoes are jumbled. As many others I did all my after turkey shopping online. I love my MK wool blend coat in light grey, XS fits a petite perfectly. I've had a black coat in my wish list for a while. When I found the same coat in black on sale I jumped on it! It took over 3 weeks to ship! Yes I know... things have been crazy but dang USPS! I shipped to store for pick up to save on shipping fees. I went in to pick it up and the security guard was actually running orders. That was little odd but I just wanted my coat. He asked for my ID I showed him, he went back and forth. Came back with a box and asked if it could be under another first name. Asked for my ID again I took it back out of my purse. He said just keep it out until we find your order. That worried me. Fast forward another 10-15 minutes later with more confusion and questions if I received a confirmation email. They had to check the back and found my order! Thank goodness! I aged a little bit in line he kept calling me Ma'm... yes I am wearing a mask you can't tell my age. But that is a quick way to age a lady! Overall the store is well kept. You have to be okay with rummaging through racks of mismatched items. Bring your patience and a pray you find a good deal. It's not as bad as forever 21 but the layout is just as confusing. They do carry name brands at a decent price. read more

I went in to return a pair of Nike Shoes and I had paid with after pay and when I had asked the guy who was helping me if I'd get the money back on my card he didn't know which kinda annoyed me because he should've known, I also think if someone pays with a card they should have the choice whether they want it back on the car, or cash, or on a gift card. read more

This review is mostly because of Alex, the assistant manager. I had a complicated issue with my Nordstrom credit card payments, that even the Nordstrom company couldn't help me figure out. I went back to the store that I made the original purchases from. I got in the returns line, and explained to the employee that I had a complicated issue and that a manager might be more helpful for me to figure this out. The employee got the assistant manager, and Alex was SO helpful. Alex was very patient with me, listened to the problem carefully, and assured me that time would be taken to help me figure this out. I think I only waited for about 15 minutes (whereas I was on the phone with Nordstrom for over 35 min) and Alex came back with the problem being solved. Alex explained to me step by step what the problem was, and made sure that I wasn't rushed to understand quicker. I usually come to this location because of distance convenience, but this positive experience will be the reason why I continue coming to this location. I think it's safe to say this location is better than Mission Valley as it's newer. But it's still a feeding frenzy in the women's department (I guess men don't exactly lose their minds when they come here). They have a decent selection of inventory but it's just a headache to find 'the perfect' item you're there searching for. Funny thing is you never go to The Rack looking for anything specific. You just end up leaving with clothes/shoes/beauty products you don't need. Few notes: - they have a NINETY day return policy. 90 days. Period. Here is there return policy as stated online: RETURN POLICY " Apparel, footwear and accessories (bags, sunglasses, leather goods, jewelry and watches) may be returned unless the item is marked Final Sale or Non-Returnable; Items must be returned within 90 days; Items must be returned in their original packaging, including hangers, hang tags, dust bags, eyewear cases, shoe boxes and gift boxes when applicable; Items must not be worn, altered or damaged; Items equal to or more than $500 may not be returned in store; Home, Beauty and Vintage items purchased from HauteLook events are final sale " - their check out line can be ridiculous. They claim you can find any person in the 'green shirt' and do a purchase or RETURN transaction with the green shirt person. The green shirt ppl aren't always the friendliest. - came in recently to return shoes within the 90 day period and went up to green shirt person. She told me to find a green shirt person (strange as isn't *SHE* a green shirt person too) who can help me process the return vs waiting in line at the check out station. - when I got refund, they said they would email me the receipt b/c they no longer print ? It took a few hours to receive the email so just make sure you receive it before you forget about it So they're not the most helpful here but oh well. It's a newer location and that's about it. I always find the staff here to be super nice, and I've never had an issue or problem with them. But the clothing; UGH. I went in there today with every intention of buying a bunch of new tops for myself, but left with nothing. EVERY single top or sweater in there was cut short and wide. WHY? What woman wants to look short and dumpy? And so many of them were big, baggy turtlenecks. Who's doing the buying for this place? Rack after rack of this. Nothing fitted at all, nothing flattering. And as I looked around, I noticed that most of the women there couldn't find anything either. Such a shame, I used to be able to buy tons of nice, stylish clothing there, but not anymore, and it's been like this for a while. Still love the shoe section though. This store is neat. The staff is courteous. Selection is better than anticipated. For some reason people either don't understand the numerical system or are trying to hide a gorgeous pair of size 6 shoes with the 8's. Yes, it happens often. As such, I get lost in the shoe department seeking a new pleasure for my peds. Even though the lines may be long, they are quite efficient with getting money from you and sending you on your way. Every time I come in this store the check out lines are ridiculously slow, enough so that I have actually decided it was not worth the wait to purchase what I was contemplating. But today takes the cake! It is early Dec. and ALL cash registers should be open, right? Well, not here! Unfortunately for me there was one item I really wanted to purchase for my daughter or when I saw how long and slow the line was I once again would have just left it. There were no less than 20 people in line and only 2 cash registers open. Neither of the cashiers were moving with any sense of urgency whatsoever, and as a matter of fact were chit chatting with customers to a lengthy extent while the rest of the 20 ppl in line were getting more annoyed by the minute. There were 2 additional workers standing behind a counter that said "Returns/Order Pick Up" that were just talking amoungst themselves and completely ignoring the line of customers. Note to Management- WHY, on God's Earth, are these employees not taking the next customers in line for purchases when there are 2 of them and NO customers were in line for pickups or returns? There are a lot of other stores that are way more customer friendly, more reasonably priced, and have the same quality or better than the Rack, who's quality of goods has also gone way downhill in the last few years right along with their customer service. Peoples time is valuable and I avoid this store, as I'm sure a lot of other ppl do, due to the abysmal customer service and the slowness of the cashier lines. Also, if you read ALL the other negative reviews of this store you will notice that 'management' responds to ALL the complaints by saying the same exact asinine thing - "We will let our team know" that you had to wait in a line that was an hour and a half long, that someone's valid return was not accepted, etc. You will 'let the team know'??? But not do anything about it???!! Please save your breathe when it comes to my negative review... either say you will attempt to correct the situation or don't even bother responding. read more

honestly loved this place till they said i couldn't return my item bc the tag was off, even tho i brought it. i thought it would fit me so i took it off and realized it didn't. it's leather and there was a white hairspray or powder stain on the back from my hair that was easily removable. i just took it off with water. the lady said that, on top of my hair being on the item, made it used and non returnable. bs imo. i had the receipt and my card plus i'm a Nordstrom cardholder. not coming here again. at-least the cashier was nice about it. don't know why she was investigating it like it was part of a crime scene. jeez. read more

I didn't like that they close the dressing rooms far ahead of closing time. Boooooo!! The staff kinda ignores all the customers until you jump in front of them whilst they are quickly walking down an aisle. Like a surprise attack. They sort of act like you're bothering them, and that there is something far more important that needs their attention immediately. Minus one star for both of those things. I generally like their selection, and its usually our whole family's first stop if we need anything clothing-wise including shoes. Also, they closed the actual Nordstrom at our closest mall, so there's that. They're having awesome clearance sales right now... so y'all should go pick up some cool stuff. 4 stars based on convenience and their diverse inventory. The end. read more
