Not sure why I felt obligated to write a review on Walmart...but i guess the fact that they routinley bail me out makes them deserve some love. I constantly find my self having to go there because they have a good selection and yet their pricing is good...and I can get my oil change done while i'm shopping. The reason they get a 4 star is bc their oil change people really have very little skill....my Honda has a little out of reach air filter that twice now I've been told "we cant get to it" and I've had to pop the cover off and change it with my bare fingers with 2 mechanics looking over my shoulders...sort of weird. read more

Poway Walmart is a near disaster zone right now with all the construction. AVOID The garden area is hidden in the parking lot under a circus tent. Pallets of supplies are everywhere blocking aisles. The guys start bringing out supplies like 6pm and its non- stop. Every time you start to walk here comes another and I was dodging them the entire visit. Target isn't that much further and lots more room to move. By the way these shelf stockers have been bringing supplies out and dumping them off earlier and earlier. This particular Walmart seems to think it is okay to say on their website that something is in stock when it is not. I guess they feel saying or doing anything to get you in the store is better than you not coming at all. I believe I was told the store manager's name is Art Modue. Art should seruiously take a look at the way they do business. I personally will not be making anymore trips to Walmart. I went to Target and they had the product in stock and they were able to price match the best price online. Target is the way to go! read more

This Walmart had evolved! Came into the store to grab some dove shampoo and softsoap refill bottles that are no longer carried at Target. The store is surprisingly clean and organized during construction. Yes, there are some interesting cashiers and consumers in there, but no one should be surprised if they are choosing to hit up Walmart for their items. The prices online are actually cheaper than in store for my hygiene items. However, I couldn't bear to pay for shipping for orders under $50 and just went into the store. I was in and out within 10 minutes on a Saturday morning. Today, my cashier was engaged and chatty, which has been different from previous experiences. Also, their credit card machines have microchip capacities! My new Amex couldn't be swiped, instead it had to be inserted to have the chip read. It's great because it's an added security measure. Today, 1/3/12 I visited the Walmart store in Poway, California in hope of buying bicycles for both my wife and I. I had been in the store the previous day and found a bicycle that I thought my wife would enjoy and photographed it to show her. The bicycle was also marked as Reduced and was around $58. When I returned to purchase this bike, there was no price tag on it, nor was there a reduced tag. After some searching I found an associate to ask for a price, she told me she didn't know and I asked could she find out, at that point she disappeared and returned a few moments later with another associate. They looked the bicycle up on a handheld and determined the price was $89.99. I asked why it was no longer the price, it was yesterday and was told it must have been another bicycle and they then walked off before I could ask any more questions. I went looking for another associate and this time when I asked for help, I was told to find a blue button to press to get help and he walked off. The value in shopping at Walmart is being reduced when the overall shopping experience is as bad as it is. I'm sure that in today's economy there are many who are looking to save money and Walmart, offers competitive pricing, but customer experience is something that is factored in when totaling up the price you're wiling to pay for a product. read more

Their bathrooms are a disgusting mess every time I go there . Also the amount of people in this walmart is ridiculous !!! You can not step five feet without some one just plowing you over. Although my experience at this Wal-Mart (and every other Walmart I've been too) is just blah and non-existent because I'm usually ignored and have to fend for myself when I need help, I'm writing this review solely on my recent experience with Yovanna. Not sure if I spelled her name right but she is a new assistant manager here. Last month, on May 28th, I left my wallet at this store. I didn't know I lost it until I got home. Which is 7 hours away. I was visiting family here and assumed I put it in my suitcase. Even my fiancé thought I had it so we didn't even try to look for it. When I was unpacking I checked my suitcase and didn't find it. My family didn't have it. I called Walmart. They told me my family could not pick it up for me. That I would have to go in to get it. So they said if I can't in 30 days, they shred my cards and send back my Drivers license to the DMV. So I said ok that's fine I can do that. I shut off all my credit cards and waited for my DL. By July 6th, still no DL. So I called to find out if they sent it. A lady answered and said Nope, it was still there. So I was upset that I spoke to a male manager or assistant manager and he said they send it back to DMV as it was "policy". Turns out, there's no such policy. The new assistant manager Yovanna answered and spoke to me about my situation and said she could have it sent directly to me. WTF! This woman represents above and beyond what customer service truly is. I know it sounds crazy but if was never policy, she didn't have to do what she did. She saved me some time going to the DMV to duplicate it. I received my DL today and to see that she paid the postage and everything, I'm amazed that she helped me out. Most employees here are friendly but I had an awful experience with Roberta the cashier today. If u don't have produce numbers memorized and don't know how to process WIC then they shouldn't have u running a register at a busy store. Someone was using WIC in front of me and Roberta had to call someone else to help her. Then she had to get out her sheet to check numbers individually for all the produce. I'm ok with all of that but I had 2 young children and Roberta is to oblivious and has no customer service...would've been nice if she had told me I was welcome to stay in line but that I would be waiting a while! I was totally in that jam where I had already been waiting...do I change lines or will that take longer. I finally asked and Roberta said "these things take a long time." So I repack my groceries and change lines and then it ends up taking longer then if I had stayed in her horrible line. That being said I know you can only expect so much from Walmart. Just a little curtsey and customer service would be nice. Lots of good deals as always...gonna make sure I go back to self check out! #endrant read more

Ashley who works here is absolutely the most unprofessional staff member ever! She is rude and obnoxious! Shouldn't be allowed to interact with cutomers. I certainly hope that she isn't supervising other staff members...Ashley walked up to my Mom and I and began yelling at us. When I tried to expain that I spoke with the Manager already Ashley proceeded to yell and point her finger at me. I walked over to her manager and caught her yelling about us anf using foul language! I was standing right behind her and stated to her manager how rude and unprofessional she was. Her manager said she would speak with her. It's absolutely wrong for Ashley to treat anybody the way she treated us!! Shame on you Walmart!! I will be emailing the company as well to make sure that swift action and follow up is taken against such an unprofessional staff member. This Walmart absolutely has no customer service. I had to request assistance several times in the furniture department. I need 2 shelving units. Online told me they had this quantity and when I asked them to look in the back for 1 more they told me they didn't have it. Mind you this is the manager we are talking about!! I asked if he could please tell me what other Walmart carries it and he told me he didn't have that information. I check out and when I get home I realize the checkout lady charged me triple for a rug I only bought 2 of! So agitating. I look on line to order the additional dresser needed and .... behold it tells me it will be available at the Poway location next day! I though they didn't have it? After I pick up my dresser today and go in to talk formally to the manager who wasted my time by not doing his job and being to lazy to pull my item in the back. Just got into a fight with the manager at the Walmart in Powys because my husband was trying to buy alcohol and they asked for my ID as well. When I told them it's not for me, I'm not buying it, they had to get the manager involved. When we asked to see the policy it said NO WHERE that they had to check both/all IDs, just that the person who is buying the alcohol has to be of age. I WASNT BUYING IT! My name was not on the card! What do they expect me to do when my husband is buying alcohol? Go stand by the door so we aren't getting harassed?! read more

The WORST parking lot set up ever UNLESS your Handicapped then you'll have dozens and dozens of completely empty spots to chose from. There aren't that many Handicapped people in all of Poway to fill all the spots. Yet there they are as the rest of us go up and down the rows looking for ONE empty stall which causes most people to just drop off their passengers out front and stay parked at the entrance until they return. I am not a huge fan of wal-mart. I know their prices are cheap and they have good deals but sometimes its easier just to pay a little more. Their aisle are crowed and the shelves are sometimes not organized. It has gotten a lot better since the first time I came in there but it still has a ways. The new Super Wal-Mart in Oceanside is AMAZING!! The parking here can be crazy, because there is also a DMV in the corner. I only come here for cat food and some basic cleaning supplies. I am writing about the Walmart Supercenter in Poway based upon a sign prohibiting shopping carts management has put up in front of the McDonald's. FIrst of all, my sister and I have been in the Walmart many times and never saw the sign. Next, after taking our shopping carts into the McDonald's eating area, a customer sent her son to complain about us and yelled to the employee that first yelled at us, in front of everyone, to move our carts, saying that she had already told us to move our carts. We were going to be only a few minutes and didn't think that we were blocking anyone. The woman then directed her son to remove our carts from the seating area! My sister was so upset that she told the boy to leave our carts alone and wouldn't use the cart and went to get another. As I headed out to follow my sister I told the woman that she had no business telling getting into our business. She screamed at me 'F__k ... and you fat.... The policy is not clear to all customers and leads busy-body control addicts to infringe on fellow customers. The store does not direct the staff to inform customers to leave carts outside the eating area and the sign is not prominent enough to be recognized. The result is that I was verbally assaulted just by trying to sit with my sister and have snack at McDonald's. We have been shopping at the Walmart at Aero and always brought our carts into the McDonald's eating area and never had a problem. We'll try to give it another try but the experience was personally traumatic and publicly humiliating. Some customers are not going to see a sign posted while shopping. I walked by afterwards and still didn't see a sign. The policy only emboldens control-driven individuals and sets up a situation that of conflict where a customer, as in my case, is not going to 'hop-to' just because of a desire for carts to be left in a specific place. I spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars in Wallmart. If I want my shopping cart next to me while taking a break shopping, I should be able to do so without the fear of being verbally assaulted. Management should staff the eating area if it's such a top priority. Maybe the 'Greeter' standing just a few feet away could inform customers about the policy. I hope the management of Poway's Walmart reads this. I will try to contact them and have not decided if I will take legal action. I can't believe the woman uses such language and is so verbally abusive with her speech, not to mention in front of her 3 children. Really arrogant and extremely disappointing. My message to the woman is to mind your own business when you're shopping! She is not a Walmart employee and has no business trying to harass a fellow customer to submit to her demand. Lady, most people my age are not going to rush in order to submit themselves to satisfy your every desire. Nice store, but poor managerial policy regarding shopping carts in McDonald's!!! read more

My husband used the Walmart Pharmacy to get his prescription and instead of applying his insurance,the cashier charged him full price for the medication. When he went back to explain what happened and ask for a refund, he was told he would have to eat the difference which was about $56.00. They said it was between our insurance company and us, not them. The problem is that the insurance company didn't do anything wrong, so when I called the manager and explained what happened, she told me that she had to speak to his insurance even though I told her it was their (Walmart Pharmacy) error not the insurance company. After waiting a day for a response, their resolution was to give us a gift card for the difference. I do not shop at Walmart and do not want to shop at Walmart. This is annoying and does not correct their error. It just lets them keep the money they owe us. Beware of buying your prescriptions here. read more

This Walmart has been in Poway for as long as I can remember. I live in PQ so with all the lights it's a good 15- 20 minutes from my house. So I stopped going there a few years ago. Target is about 10 minutes from my house. I stopped shopping at target when they started their red card and cartwheel. I hate that stuff. Just give me the sale price. Who has the time to do all that. So about a month ago I found myself in Poway and stopped in Walmart! Boy was I happy I did! The remodel is great! They have everything I buy at the grocery store and target all in one place. They also have WAY better pricing. Now I plan ahead and try to get a weeks worth of groceries at a time, plus cleaning supplies, deodorant, toothpaste, dog food, and so much more!!!! The best part, I bring in my own bags and they seem happy I brought them in and pack them so neatly and organized. Not just crammed in the bag with bread and bananas on the bottom. My only request is that they open a Walmart in PQ. read more

The rudest and most inefficient 1 hour photo center I have ever seen. I placed a custom Christmas cards order online with Walmat.com two days ago. Received an email to confirm order and another email next day notifying order is ready to pick up. Also received two texts afterwards from Walmart to remind me of the pick up. When I went to the photo center, the middle aged guy with silver hair became impatient after he fumbled through all the drawers and couldn't locate my order. He grumbled and proclaimed the order either didn't go through or still stuck in the "order queue" because they're out of printing paper since yesterday. I told him the texts I got show the cards are ready for pick up and he replied angrily that the texts are not from their photo center but from Walmart.com and that they have nothing to do with the text I received. He walked away expressionless without any apologies for the confusion between their online and local store. And I walked away without any cards or the knowledge of whereabouts of my cards . Even though I haven't paid for the cards yet, I am very upset because the cards have my family pictures on them. Well, I guess it's Walmart and I should expect too much. The two ladies, Rossanna & Lillian, who work in the Jewelry Department are wonderful. They not only found the right battery for my old watch, but put it in for me. I decided to purchase a new watch and between the two of them they took enough links out to fit my small wrist. Very pleasant & super nice. Management: These two are keepers!!! read more

This is one of the worst Wal-Marts in SoCal. Every time I go there, I worry that I'm going to get knifed or mugged in the parking lot. The workers are slovenly at best and downright unruly at their worst. It's constantly filthy and I feel like I need to take a shower after I've been there. The aisles are small and crowded and things are constantly in disarray. Most of the people that go to this Wal-Mart are surly and inconsiderate. I don't know if it's because of the location (Poway, CA is not exactly a haven of courteous folk), or what it is, but the people here either don't speak English or are trashy. read more

I've been to a lot of wall marts. All of them seem to have horrible customer service. But this one by far was the worse. I went too buy a pack of beers and the lady working at the register was acting like my id was fake. Now i can't even buy alcohol with a government issue id....... I don't know if the workers are just border line retarded or maybe they just like giving people a hard time. This WalMart is ok. Parking is convenient, considerably compared to other Walmarts, just a quick walk in (backside parking was ample, and the entrance to the lot is right there, tip for those able bodied parkers - go in the back lot to avoid the traffic) and we were able to find what we were looking for without having to deal with a disorganized place or lack of signage at many other Walmart. This was the quickest Walmart trip I've experienced. We got one thing and it took maybe 7 minutes, shocking. Other times I've gone to a Walmart, upon parking, navigating a labyrinth of aisles that are improperly marked, not one associate to help us locate an item, finding the item and purchasing it has always been a 20-30 minute expedition. This location isn't much of a hike, the staff is friendly for the part and check out was quick. The flow here is better. My only gripes about the place is that nothing is stellar about the service (of course), and that the place seems to be rather jumbled in layout. I'd imagine if we had a list of things to get it would become an expedition rather quickly. But all in all it's an A-Ok location. read more

What a disappointment this has turned out to be. This rating is a bit generous. The stocking of the shelves in grocery is deplorable. Its like the persons in charge have no clue of what needs to be stocked. I'm talking about all areas in the grocery section of the store. Groceries, frozen foods, vegetables (no tomatoes, I mean ZERO!), produce, dairy shelves, meats, sundry items. This is not rocket science. If this is the best that can be done, then close this portion down and go back to not having groceries at all. We are considering going back to Vons, Stater Bros and the like because of the poor supplies offered. Also, ever since the state required the plastic bag rules, the checkers have been in some cases nasty, less than cordial and cannot bag worth a darn for the most part. Many of them could care less how the items go in the bags. It almost appears they have had little to no training. They are often quite rude. First off, the law/rule was not the idea of the shopper. Secondly. Employees should be glad they have a job. If they can't exercise a little friendliness toward customers, then go somewhere else. Management needs to get off their butts and do a little undercover boss work and discover some of the issues going on. That is...... IF they even care about what is the correct way to run a business and maintain positive customer relations. read more

I recently saw a woman with shingles all over the right side of her face and into her eye. I went to the Poway Wal Mart Pharmacy to see how much it would cost with my Humana Insurance to get the shingles virus vaccination. I was curtly told by Mai that I would have to fill out paperwork before she could give me a quote. I filled out the ppw and then had to wait while she was diddling on the computer. Finally she took the info and put it in the computer and said I would have to wait another 20-30 minutes before she could give the price. She then said she could also call me on my cell. I gave her my cell # and finished my shopping and left. Today I had to call them as no one ever called me back. And, come to find out they were more expensive than Sav-On which is a shock. But the whole experience was very unpleasant with a bunch of indifferent people working behind the counter. Not one smiled or even attempted to be friendly. It makes me grateful that I do not use them as my "go to" pharmacy. And rest assured...even if they were cheaper I would not have them give me the vaccination.
