Wonderful experience! They really saved me--I moved to this area a couple years ago but never…read morebothered getting a local eye Dr because I found out I could just get my contact lens prescription through 1-800 contacts, but then my glasses broke and I learned I couldn't use that contact lens Rx for glasses, and unless I got the correct prescription within 5 days my order for new glasses was going to be cancelled! I called around in a panic and Pacific EyeCare had an appointment available within 48 hrs. The office staff was very helpful on the phone, gave me an accurate cost estimate (paying out of pocket with no insurance) and followed up with text reminders for my appointment. They were friendly and helpful in person too, (and didn't judge me for getting myself into such a situation!) and I have to say it was tremendously reassuring to have an actual professional take a look at my eyes after several years of renewals through a website. Dr. Trull was very friendly, we had a nice chat before he explained the results of my exam. I had been a little bit worried that maybe I was taking a stupid risk with my long-term eye health and I'm so relieved that everything is still fine and healthy. Probably going to switch back to in-person appointments from here on out, it's just not worth finding myself in this situation again. Thank you so much to Dr. Trull and staff!

It's been several years since I visited Pacific EyeCare. I recently needed to schedule an…read moreoptometry appointment and found that Pacific EyeCare is the only Optometrist in Port Orchard that accepts my insurance so I tried to make an appointment and they wouldn't accept me as a returning patient due to my review on Yelp. The phone person said they might think about reconsidering if I removed my YELP post.I said I would review my post and might change it but would not remove my honest assessment of their services. My memories of my visits there are still very clear. You can read my previous post here on YELP. When I discovered what I thought was an over billing for my exam the receptionist told me they billed what insurance allowed. She wasn't very nice about it. I called Medicare and they told me I was correct about the $100. The Medicare person indicated the claim may have been mis filed. The next time I was in the office I repeated my conversation with Medicare and the receptionist's response was that the claims filer knew her job and there was no mistake. I asked if I had any further recourse and she declined to offer any. At this point I felt like it was a losing battle and I surrendered. When I was sent to pick out frames I also had an unfortunate experience. There was some kind of office anniversary celebration going on and I didn't get the full attention of the woman/sales rep? that was "helping" me. She was rushed and wanted me to rush (my perspective) and I felt as if she pressured me into choosing a frame. I had to ask about what was included in the expensive price and was asking about blue light protection and something else I cant recall and she said no, those costs would be attributed to the production of the lens. I told her I needed to know the total price because Medicare only allowed a certain amount for exam lenses and frames. She did some calculations and told me the estimated total cost would not be covered so I asked her to show me only frames that would be covered. I chose the least offensive pair and she wrote up the order and shooed me on my way. I was really unhappy with the customer service. I would like to emphasize that the services Dr Trull and his assistants provided were fine and I had no complaints. I was definitely not anxious to return to that office but needed to do a follow up appointment post cataract surgery. Unfortunately at the time I was experiencing irritable bowel syndrome and could not predict when I was going to have a safe day. I tried making a couple of appointments only to have to cancel them on the day of due to unfortunate conditions I couldn't control. They ended up charging me $50 no show fee which I resented due to the $100 I thought they had over charged me originally. At that point I resolved to go to another optometrist. Due to my condition and other circumstances I just ignored my eye care. My regular physician told me I really needed to have an eye exam because my diabetes was acting up. I looked for other optometrists in Port Orchard and the only other real office would not take Medicare/United Health. So I called Pacific Eye Care and was told I couldn't make an appointment until I paid the $50. I asked once again about the original $100 overpayment. The very nice Phone person put me on hold for a minute and when she came back on line she explained to me that I did not receive the "routine" exam that Medicare pays for because I have diabetes which required me to have a special medical eye exam. Light bulb goes on! Why had no one told me this 4 years ago? !!! Would have saved us both a lot of grief and misunderstanding. I blame the original receptionist for not explaining this to me and Medicare for not figuring out why they hadn't paid for a routine eye exam. The new phone person was kind, patient and informative. I just got paid yesterday and made the call today to pay the $50 now that I know there was a legitimate reason for the different cost of the eye exam. Now I don't know whether the office administrator will accept me back as a returning patient or not. If they won't it's just as well since my review is true and honest though it now reflects the reason behind the over charge. Maybe the receptionist at the time was unaware also. Her attitude would have made a huge difference is she treated me more like a patient/customer instead of an inconvenience. Okay that's a long story but at least it tells the entire truth about the situation. I hope it helps someone avoid the misunderstanding I dealt with. As far as the receptionist and the frame sales person maybe they have moved on. My advice is get your prescription from Dr Trull and buy your frames on line. They have huge selections including designer frames for considerably less cost and no high pressure sales person. Dr. Trull is great
