Dr. Andrea Nguyen's vision center refused to sell me a single contact lens even though I explained that I am blind in one eye without it. I was told they do not carry my prescription on hand and that it would take about a week for contacts to come in. No temporary solution was offered, no emergency accommodation, and no flexibility -- just a flat refusal. Being left unable to see properly for a week is not a minor inconvenience; it affects daily life and safety. I understand inventory limitations, but a medical vision practice should show basic compassion and problem-solving, especially when a patient explains they are functionally blind without a contact. My husband decided to try this vision center in Walmart in Lake Elsinore a few months ago. We've been looking for a new optometrist for a while so when my husband needed an exam and new glasses he thought he'd give this place a try. The optometrist was very knowledgeable and helpful and nice. I decided to go to the same optometrist after becoming discouraged with my current one. I was very impressed. I'm also incredibly grateful to the optometrist who helped me at the Walmart optometry department. The optometrist I had been going to for many years was not so good anymore, he appeared to have checked out years ago. This optometrist at this Walmart picked up on things I had going on. The Walmart optometrist said I had cataracts, I had no idea, my previous doctor never noticed them and they had been in both eyes for a while. When seeing the Opthamologist I was shocked that I was also diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes. Glaucoma is sneaky, most people don't know they have it until it's advanced. I can't believe my previous guy didn't see any of this despite me telling him I had ongoing issues that would be classic for both the cataracts and the glaucoma. I recently had surgery to remove the cataracts and the Opthamologist I saw also put drainage in both of my eyes to relieve the eye pressure that glaucoma causes and has a treatment plan in place help slow the glaucoma down. I will be forever grateful and thankful to the optometrist at this Walmart. If not for him I could have gone blind because I was constantly dismissed by my previous optometrist, a man I trusted and had seen since the 80's. I had cancer about 5&1/2 years ago and I knew the grueling chemo treatments could cause eye diseases, yet my previous optometrist never took the time to check for either disease or even listen to me.All optometrist's are not created equal or sometimes they become burnt out. I was good about my yearly checkups and letting the 1st optometrist know about my symptoms, yet I was dismissed over and over. The optometrist at Walmart took the time to do a very good exam, listen to me and again I credit him for saving my vision. I can't begin to imagine how I'd go through life blind, furthermore, knowing that my 1st optometrist that I've seen for 30+ years missed all of my symptoms and didn't do a good and complete exam. If you are looking for a new optometrist I highly, highly recommend this doctor at the Walmart in Lake Elsinore. He couldn't have been kinder, he certainly knew how to do a good, actually great exam. Thank you, I owe so much to this man. He saved me from a horrible disease, there's no cure for glaucoma and because of him I have a good chance with the help of a good Opthamologist to slow down the progression of a disease none of us would ever want. read more

Been going here for years, although I really dislike going into Walmart. Today I had my annual eye exam scheduled at 2pm and the office was closed with a sign saying they'd return at 2pm. Waited for 10 min, then someone called the optometrist for me on her cell phone and she said she wouldn't be back until 2:30pm. Half an hour late! I will say that prior to this appointment, I never had a bad experience, but it was enough to not want to return. read more

I went to this WalMart Vision Center just to see about getting a back-up pair of progressive glasses made at a reasonable price. I brought in my own frames and wanted to buy prescription lenses for them.. which is a service that other places including Costco, does not do. Jessica and Ramune were both helpful as I came in without an appointment. My current prescription was missing a bit of information, so we had to wait for my eye doctor's office to email it to me. Not only was Jessica totally patient in waiting for me to get the info, but she actually stayed late just to help me get my order complete. (They recommend bringing in a paper copy of your prescription when you come in, fyi). The staff was great, not pressuring me to upgrade features but letting me know all of my options. I feel the staff did a wonderful job of helping me get just what I wanted and at a great price! read more

Dr . Nguyen did all kinds of stuff with my vision test leading me to believe my vision had changed and one ey was much worse than the other. She sent me to look at glasses. I have very expensive frames and at most was going to change the lenses. I found out my new insurance would only cover $7. Whatever. So I looked at glasses and the guy followed me around steering me to glasses that I didn't like! Then another guy stepped in and said well why don't you do such and such since don't have insurance! Long story short I spent $400. I went home and started thinking I don't even like either pair! Took a long time but I found the return policy. Went back to get my refund and asked for my prescription which they kept . Today I went back to America's Best . Got my prescription. Eyes are exactly the same as when tested in 2023. Boy Dr Nguyen you and your staff you are as shady as they come ! Never again and I will be filing a complaint with whoever oversees optometrist s and their licensing. read more

People are always shocked when they find out I get my eye exam at Walmart. As a person who wears glasses all day every day - I've been coming here since I can remember for my eye exams! Dr. Andrea is super nice and professional. The appointments are quick and to the point. I haven't bought glasses from Walmart for quite some time but I will check it out to see if they have a good selection. I recommend for sure! Especially if you pay out of pocket like I do! read more

Unfortunately, there's no option for ZERO STARS. I had an appointment for an eye exam, but walked out after 45 minutes of waiting, since they took walk-ins in front of me. Apparently, if you have an appointment at 11am, but someone WALKS IN before 11, they simply push your appointment back, and assume that you'll sit there and wait, so that they can get more business. The lady at the front desk has no concept of what it means to have an appointment. This infuriated me. I refuse to give my business to those with no sense of business ethics. This review is specifically for Dr. Andrea Nguyen. I have been seeing her for close to 9 years now, and even though I only walk in once a year she remembers me and details about our last visit. She has fantastic doctor-patient skills, is thorough in her exams, explains her findings in ways that are clear and easy to understand, and gives suggestions that allow me to confidently make my own final decisions. Her office staff is helpful and friendly. I have always gotten an appointment within a reasonably quick amount of time, and the appointments are conducted on time unless there is a situation out of their control. The prices are reasonable, and WalMart generally has good deals on contacts and glasses as well. read more

I have been getting glasses from the local Walmart for about ten years ... perhaps a bit more. At less than a mile from my front door, visits are very easy. Why all the one-stars reviews? Why are the reviews either one-star or five stars? The optometrist (Dr. Nguyen?) has always been pleasant and efficient. If this were just about her, this would be a five-star review. The front office folk have been a bit more varied. At times, highly effective. Other times, much less so. (This is Walmart. They do not always hire the best.) Never has anyone been rude, or given me any sort of run-around (as other reviews describe). Also, before Walmart re-built this store, they let the optometrist's office degrade rather badly. On visiting the office, you would see worn/torn chairs, water-stained warped ceiling tiles, dirty worn carpets. Not something over which the optometrist had control. In fact, I sent feedback to Walmart through the company website. Got a call from the store manager, saying they were about to re-model the entire store. Appearances can flavor opinions. Walmart has some really good deals on Vision Care. You can normally get your first pair of glasses at full price and the second pair is 50% off. If you go for this deal make sure the most expensive pair of glasses is your 50% off pair. The glasses are high quality and they are quite durable as I have purchased appear in the past and even the cheapest quality glasses hold up against three years of usage. read more

The dr & prescription were fine, BUT, my frames were returned to me damaged & covered in some drippy white milky smeary substance which etched my frames gloss & the frames were also chipped in the lens changing process. The woman who gave them to me couldn't be bothered & blamed the lab. She couldn't even be paid to care. She hands me a dirty rag then ignores me. I was the only customer there at the time. Do not trust them with your frames & lousy customer service. It was like a child had them for a week when they were returned to me, not a professional business. I have another set of frames I was going to give them to put new lenses in but changed my mind when I saw how they disrespect people's property. read more

well, cant go negative, so they get one. The doctors office is great, professional, friendly, willing to answer all questions................then you have the eyeglass center. My girlfriend and I each got glasses and contacts, I brought my own frames in ( had purchased there previously). When I arrived to pick up my glasses, there were lenses but no frames. Here are the statements from that a$$ of a manager Alfonso 1) You can't prove you left frames here, I cant prove you didnt 2) We can order a new frame, will take a while, but you went this long so it wont matter 3) Dude I am trying to hook you up I am almost 50,I am no ones dude, and this snot nosed punk needs to learn how to say, I am sorry, lets see what we can do to make it right. The rest of the staff was equally worthless with comments of 1) We dont know where your frames are 2) What do you want us to do about it 3) Well, come back another time My personal lenses have some issues, I am so disgusted with these people, I am going elsewhere and paying instead of fighting with the insurance, its just not worth stepping in there again read more

The first issue is they had my insurance information and had me do a vision exam and then contacts. Then when it came to be finished they told me I had a $66 payment and I asked why because my copayment is only $10. They said that was for the contact fitting. So I paid for it, but I told them you should advise people in advance about an additional fee if they have no intention on buying the contacts. Next, I asked for an estimate in writing for my glasses and they say they can provide one. Never again at this place. read more

Do not get an eye exam here!! Firstly their glasses are way too expensive. Go online and buy them for $20 (Zenni.com). Secondly, this eye exam place is sketchy as heck, because they do not include a PD (Pupil Distance) in their eye exam because they want to scam you for $200-300 glasses. Get your eye exam somewhere else that will give your PD for free and don't get scammed by buying expensive glasses. read more

So quick. I made an appointment for 6pm and they were punctual. Eye exam is priced fair. When I had insurance most places charged an additional $40 fee for contact fitting so to pay $89 for the whole thing was great now that I don't have insurance anymore. Got a years supply of contacts and exam all in one night. The doctor was super nice and she was quick and made it eaSy. Eye exams aren't difficult for me but finding free time away from my kids to do these things is... so I appreciated not having to wait. Will definitely return next year for new prescription. read more

Don't go to this vision center. It was my 5 year old son's first eye doctor appt. she was in a hurry because there were other patients waiting. Dr. Nguyen was supposed to skip one of his eye test because my son was crying. How can you give a diagnosis with one eye missing?! You'll see how impatient she is. She dilated my sons eyes so she can get a better look at it. I was asked to come back after 30-45 minutes when she's done with other patients. We just left the place without finishing the procedure because I don't wanna risk my sons vision to be compromised. I will never go back there. read more
