Been here three times now, and it's bar none the best optometry place I've ever been. Have met 2 different doctors and both were wonderful. Front office staff were efficient and very friendly. In and out very quickly, and they deal with my insurance so really all I have to do is show up for a few minutes once a year. They send the contacts to my house too!! My third visit got extra complicated because my husband's job/insurance was changing and the office staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, they even found me a same day appointment to avoid me missing the deadline before the insurance change. Great eye doctor! First time here today for my annual eye exam and it was great! We moved to the Rancho Santa margarita and wanted to find a new eye doctor close by. I love this location because it's super close to my house, about two minute drive. I also love it they're open on Saturdays. I have a little one , and it makes it much easier to go for an appointment on a weekend. The waiting room is very nice and clean. Stylish and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The exam was the most informative and detailed eye exam I have done and was great! I saw Dr. Liegler and liked him a lot. He was very nice and explained everything thoroughly. Picking out glasses was a great experience as well. This is for someone who has never worn glasses before and was overwhelmed. But the girl that helped me (forgot her name!) was so patient but also picked up some really good choices for me. And I was able to also FaceTime with my husband so he can be part of the process of choosing the best one with me.! I'm really happy about our choice of choosing this optometry for our eye needs! This optometrist has a really fantastic selection of eyewear. I ordered a pair I really liked, and they were very helpful in communicating with me during the entire duration of the frames being delayed (due to covid restrictions abroad) and were helpful in providing options if/when the duration was too long. I have been a patient here for a few years and I have seen Dr. Kostura and Dr. Lieger. They both are great, friendly, good energy, and so thorough in their exams and eye care. I've been wearing contacts and glasses for over 25 years so I've seen a ton of optometrists and these guys are the best. I recently had an infection, or an irritation, in one of my eyes due to contact lens wear and they saw me the same day. The girls at the front are always really nice also and helpful. First visit to the optometrist in a couple years and decided to try Dove Canyon Optometry since it was so close and they carry a nice selection of designer frames. My first impression was not the greatest. I called in to check in which is totally acceptable due to Covid. Since it was my first visit I knew there would be paperwork to fill out. I tried calling at 8:45, knowing they open at 9:00 and my appointment was at 9:00. Most places have you arrive earlier to fill out the paperwork. No one answered the phone until 9:00, when I was immediately placed on hold. The lady asked me if I'd already filled out the forms online. I didn't know that was an option. Shouldn't that have been offered to me when I called to make my first appointment as a brand new patient? Possibly a courtesy email giving me the links and option as well? Or lastly the text message they sent me the day before my appointment could've contained a link to do the paperwork. So this wasted 15 minutes of my time after my initial appointment started. Maybe if they staffed 15 minutes before opening so this could be taken care of during a time a customer would be waiting anyways. Once I finished my paperwork I walked in and the lady did several eye tests, that are all done at one single station which is nice. I was then taken to the doctors office to wait for my results. Offering water to a waiting customer would be a nice touch, but that was not offered. The doctor was very friendly and I appreciated that he was honest and didn't try to upsell me anything I didn't need. My prescription changed ever so slightly and he said I could get the new prescription or just keep my old glasses since there wasn't much difference. Post consultation was with a friendly lady who selected some frames for me to look over. I decided on a cool pair of Tom Ford's which they will make with my prescription and turn them into sunglasses. Overall I had a great experience at Dove Canyon Optometry. The pre arrival experience was lacking in my opinion and time consuming with paperwork, which could've easily been avoided if the online paperwork would've been offered at the time the appointment was made or mentioned in the pre arrival text sent the day before. read more

I am a big fan of Yelp, so when I moved to the area I checked to see which Optometrists took our insurance and was pleased to see all of the great ratings on a Dr whose office was just minutes down the road from us. Sometimes I'm a little hesitant when a practice or place receives such high ratings, but I saw for myself that Dr. Kostura was a very nice Dr and great with my daughter who came along for the ride. He was very professional and took the time to talk to me about my vision and any concerns I had since I was new to his office. Upon leaving his office my daughter said out loud (and I think the front office heard as well) that "Mommy has a nice Dr that took care of her eyes." =) I already have my next appointment lined up and my husband will be seeing him as well within a week or so. I really like coming here. I've gotten my eye exam twice by Dr. Hsia and as a first time glasses wearer she definitely took her time to explain my prescription and how's it's changed over time. She's friendly just like the rest of the staff, everyone is welcoming as soon as I walk through the door. I've recommended friends and family because this is really the best. I've been going to lens crafters for my eye exam for over 10 years and they never got it wrong. I took a chance here since I moved and it was so close To my house. They got my contact and glasses script wrong. I got lenses made elsewhere and when I picked them up they were totally blurry. Found my expired script for both glasses and contacts which were significantly stronger than what was written for me. Came back for recheck twice. They wouldn't remake the lenses I got done but did write new scripts after saying my vision could have gotten better. Um what? After 20 years my vision poof got better?! Many inconveniences and back and forth to get the glasses finally redone. At least the contacts were samples so I didn't order anything before confirming power. Last time going there. read more

I found Michael Kostura through my insurance provider's web site; I was in need of a new optometrist, since my work changed insurance providers and my previous optometrist was no longer covered. At first, I was devastated that I'd no longer be able to visit my old eye doctor, but in the end - I'm pretty darn happy (simple point: Dove Canyon is 10 minutes from my house; my old optometrist was still back in LA). I am so thankful that I was able to get in before the end of the year, due to someone having cancelled their appointment. Dr. Kostura and his staff were phenomenal throughout the whole exam. His assistant did the initial eye tests, which utilized some of the latest technology machines, and he did the vision test and the checking of prescription (with that big machine - "does 1 look better or 2" - you know the things I'm talking about. We were able to find a new lens that worked for my eyes - a monthly that's considerably more breathable than the lenses I was previously wearing. I'm surprised we were able to find one, as previously, my eye rejected all other brands. It's a miracle! When it came to picking out new frames, his staff was super patient. I showed a picture of my current frames (because I'm a silly cow and left them at home), and she was able to pick out similar styles. And I took a long time, especially when I narrowed it down to four frames, so I appreciate the patience! I had a check up appointment (15 min) a week later just to check that the new lenses we working out before we ordered them; all is good - woo hoo! I'm the proud new owner of new frames and more breathable lenses. See you later this year! read more

I messaged Dove Canyon Optometry after hours on a Thursday night (after finding them during a google search), worried about my daughters blurry vision. I received a call first thing Friday morning from the staff letting me know that Dr Kostura wanted her in for a comprehensive eye exam and had made room in his schedule to see her that very same day. Once we arrived we were quickly brought back for the machine tests and then into a room where we were promptly and warmly greeted by Dr Kostura. He really took his time to perform a thorough examination and was patient and kind walking her through all of the testing. Fortunately it was determined that her eyes looked healthy and that is was a case her prescription being too weak for her eyes. I am extremely grateful that they took my concerns seriously and got her in quickly (even being new patients). Our experience with Dr Kostura was wonderful and his staff seemed friendly as well. It did feel a little salesy during the portion where my daughter picked out the lenses and such that she wanted, but I know they are just doing their job and can appreciate their efforts. I would highly recommend Dove Canyon Optometry and Dr Kostura, infact, I'd been looking for a new optometrist since moving to Coto and immediately scheduled an appt for myself for their next available exam in a few weeks. My husband and I switched insurance providers at the beginning of the year and the new company was not accepted at our previous Optometrist. We were glad to find Dove Canyon Optometry through the insurance website and to see that they had such great reviews on Yelp. We went into for check ups and had a great experience with Dr. Kostura and his staff. The receptionists were very helpful. We filled out new patient paperwork and were taken back for testing fairly promptly. Dr. Kostura was very thorough in taking time with each of us and it didn't feel rushed at all.
