What makes a good gas station? Cheaper than usual gas for the area. Regular car wash, using recycled water no less. A ton of pumps and room to maneuver around. They take credit card and debit card. And the best part, relatively clean and surprisingly fresh smelling bathroom. I totally overlooked the big black curly hair on the floor right in front of me. That was it I sware. Well I've never had any problems with gas or pricing here. But I honestly don't pay cash for anything (especially gas - Discover gives me 5% back!) so I don't even look at prices. I drive a 66 Mustang and an SUV so my average mpg isn't great. (Before you frown, I don't drive much, and when I'm out with my husband we drive his hybrid). All in all, gas prices don't really bother me. But I don't get gas here often. I come for the food. I love gas stations with food inside. The Chevron next to my house has awesome employees but a totally weak sauce Food Mart. This Valero has a pretty decent inventory. A wall of drinks and several aisles of snacks. I get friendly service when I go in. Never had any complaints about the employees. I like all the people working here. :) read more

I only come here for the convenience because it's near my office. Today, I went in to purchase a mega million ticket and didn't realize the price had gone up to $2. I only had a dollar on me but the cashier guy (he's always there btw) already pulled the ticket. Totally my fault. I explained the situation to him and apologized. He then removed the ticket from the counter and said "then you're not getting it", looking all irritated. How funky? He must've had a bad new year's day.   P. S. The same thing happened to me: Lousy attitude and deceptive pricing The card reader wasn't available, so I had to go inside. Clerk gave me an attitude: "let me see your card... well, your card is worn". Well, the card went through on his first try. I go outside to pump my gas and did not get the cash price. I go back inside to ask why and he tells me that 'my bank' is charging a fee. I said, my bank is not charging a fee, this is a debit card, there is no fee associated to it. Every gas station I go to doesn't charge me for using my debit card. It's a scheme and I am not going back to that gas station. read more

If you want a carwash, get gas first. Pay for the wash after buying the gas. Don't go directly into the car wash line. There is no way to pay in the line at the front of the wash. Ugh. read more

The gas prices here are about average, but you can get a $0.10 per gallon discount if you also purchase a car wash (which is still 5 cents per gallon more than if you have a membership at Costco and get gas there). For the area, the gas prices are reasonable, but the savings is NOT substantial. The restrooms are hilariously gross, and the night staff seems to REALLY hate life. When greeted with a friendly "hello," both clerks didn't acknowledge my greeting, even though I was the only other person there. I'd give this place one star, but at least the facility is well lit at night, and the pumps accept credit cards (I hate using debit cards). This location BARELY deserves two stars. read more

And that after someone got stuck in the machine with three people ahead of me making for a half hour wait. And THAT after it broke down while I was in line the first time I tried to use my code. Good location, easy gas up. For some reason, gas is cheaper in Walnut Creek ( compared to Alameda).

Gas is gas, and there are apps for finding the cheapest. I barely drive so I barely ever need to stop at a gas station, and when I do, this one never comes up as cheapest. BUT, I hate going to car washes because 1. I don't want to talk to anyone and 2. they're usually closed by the time I'm ready to take my car to get cleaned. So, after much Yelping, I found out this place has a drive through car wash! Score. But even better when I got there I found out you get a discount when you buy a car wash. Even better! I don't even know what that means as far as cheapest gas price is concerned, but it seemed like a deal either way. TLDR: You get a discount on gas if you get a car wash. read more

8/9/19 at 6.45am, gas signage cash price: $3.41 and credit card: $3.51, I stopped to take advantage of the price discount. I paid $40 cash and when I went to pump the gas, the meter read as at $3.51, I went in to ask the attendant of the price and he said I have to purchase car wash in order to get the cash discount. There is no sign saying that you have to buy a car wash to get a discount on the gas. This is misleading, fraud and con act on the owner of this gas station. read more

I left this gas station two stars because while I have never had a problem with the gas or store, the carwash is absolutely ridiculous. Let me go step by step. First of all, the carwash takes about 5 minutes PER CAR. So if you are 4th in line, expect to wait about 20 minutes to get into the car wash. When you finally do get to the carwash, the entry machine is built for all sizes of vehicles. That must include monster trucks. I don't own a low-slung car, but I still had to reach half my body outside the window to reach the screen. I can't imagine if I was in a sports car! Please see the attached photo. the screen is a good three and a half feet from my window. And is about four and a half feet off the ground. That is a lot when you're sitting in your car. When you finally get done contorting your body to enter your receipt code, the Car Wash starts. The foam starts spraying and it only got to my windshield. Then it stopped. But actually that doesn't matter because when the machine came back over my car, it sprayed water, washing all of the foam off my car. There was no more foam at any time. The wash wheels are covered in what I think is rubber lashes. Not the best for your car. Basically this just rubbed these rubber lashes all over your car with recycled water only for 4 minutes. Thank God I waited until there was nobody in the car wash to do this, or I would have been absolutely infuriated having to wait 20 minutes for this. Overall, please do yourself a favor and DO NOT get a carwash here. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Li'l Bear or any other car wash. You will be much, much happier you did. I am not a shill for li'l bear, but they have never done less than an adequate job. Which is much more than I can say for this place. Edit: I just noticed (wash day+2) my wheels were not washed AT ALL. RIDICULOUS! Just reduced my rating from 2 to 1 stars. This is flat-out thievery. read more

This station routinely overcharges for fuel. You go in to pay with cash, to get the 10 cents reduction in price as advertised on their price board, yet you end up being charged for the credit card pricing. The staff is also very unfriendly, and the fuel has caused issues in several vehicles. Top tier? Please! The Chevron and Shell up the street are worth the few pennies more and you get superior fuel in the process. I have shared this review with everyone I know who fuels up in the area. Stay away from these crooks. I will look into calling weights and measures on this station's business practices. read more

Slowest pump in the history of any gas station. 22 mins so far and only at $54....... maybe I should order a pizza!

Two words: Gas Nazi. (Seinfeld reference, if anyone doesn't get it... not an anti-semetic comment.) "NO GAS FOR YOU! LEAVE NOW!" I actually heard him say this once. This girl was asking if she could use her debit card, and the guy at the counter shouted this at her. How can you not love that? Some days, if you take too long counting change, he just tells you to forget about the change. Other times, he tells you to come back when you have your change. Some nights I go to the Valero just to have him yell at me. All the other employees are pleasant and courteous... which can be disappointing when you are prepared to be told you are stupid for using a credit card to buy a candy bar. And, the gas is usually cheaper than surrounding stations - but often equal to the USA on California and Ygnacio. I gave three instead of four stars because now the gas is ten cents cheaper per gallon if you get a car wash, and it deceived me twice. I get better, cheaper, more environmentally friendly carwashes already. read more

Decent prices relative to other local stations. Counter people are always dour and angry looking. But I imagine any person would become disgruntled dealing with this kind of clientele. Wouldn't use these kind of car washes unless my car was old or I didn't care about scratches on my newer car. read more

It's Saturday may 28th. The lady inside was working graveyard shift. Quite rude and unprofessional to me I gave her a 20 for gas and she kept checking it in the light and then marking it and then refused to accept it, like she's never seen a $20 bill before. She was rude when I suggested to read the pen and it darkens to dark brown when it's fake. I work in sales so I use them quite a bit. I gave her a different 20 and she accepted it, upon my change she threw the 2 $5's and walked back to sit down and listen to music, this lady is lazy! LOUSY ATTITUDE, DECEPTIVE PRICING. Despite the fact that they recently found a credit card skimming device on one of their pumps, I figured they'd be extra diligent and absolutely not have on now, so I pulled in early this morning to pump up. Credit card price was $3.99, cash price was $3.89 per gallon, so I picked the debit card option, but still got the higher price. I went in to clarify the price with the clerk before pumping, and he informed me that debit card did NOT get the cash price. I said, "Silly," and he replied, "Silly? Oh really? Have a nice day." WTF? I'm sorry I tried to get some clarification on your deceptive pricing. I'm obviously an a-hole. I probably still would have dropped $75 on gas and a car wash despite the pricing issue, but I really hate having to deal with a SHITTY ATTITUDE at 6 o'clock in the morning, so I drove off instead. There isn't much to say -- it's a gas station, people. They always have gas, there are plenty of pumps, and plenty of room to maneuver to get to an open pump. Easy entry and exit (not like the crazy Li'l Bear across the street -- what is the deal over there?). The mini-mart has the essentials, i.e. beer. I haven't used the car wash, so I can't provide an opinion on it, but I often see a bit of a line, and I can't imagine they're all first-timers. Sooo I was wondering why the "gold wash" wasn't around $20 like I expected. It's because it's a mediocre drive through car wash that only mildly cleans your car (boyfriend's car in this case, my thank you for borrowing it all week). Then I was looking forward to professional vacuuming and scenting. Negative. Instead I got to feed quarters into a janky machine and attempt to stretch the vacuum hose far enough to vacuum the entire car. The nose of the vacuum was huge so I couldn't get into the space in between seats, annoying. Then I wanted to scent the car with "new car smell" and when I tried to do it (the machine does NOT take dollar bills it just spits every single different one you try back out at you) it just turned the dang vacuum on again. Oh and ps they advertise the cheaper gas when you buy a car wash. Well the computer was smarter than the lady behind the desk inside. The machine shut off after about 5 gallons and would not allow me to pump any more gas, as though the tank were full. I stopped but I was pretty sure the tank couldn't be full yet. Sure enough it was only half way! So I went inside to ask the lady to fix my price at my pump. Instead of kindly explaining that she was no match for the brainiac computer system she just said, "No. Nothing I can do about it." She was so rude, and yes I understand this is Valero not Nordstrom's, but I work in customer service so i don't care where I am I want a smile and friendly explanation dang it! She was a B word to me. Unfortunately thanks to the aforementioned "janky machine" I had to face her again for more quarters and my politeness got the better of me and I thanked her for making change for me. Grrr. Don't get a car wash here! :) HOWEVER - I am talking only about their car wash and that particular butthead lady behind the counter, no offense ma'am but take a chill pill before work. Came for a car wash today, waited in line , when my turn came I deposited $7.00 in quarters but the car wash did not start. I pressed the button for help and an employee comes out. He tells me that if I actually deposited quarters, they would have been returned to me when I pressed the coin return button. This did not happen. The employee basically accused me of trying to get a free car wash. He did, however, give me a "free" car wash ticket. After I washed my car, I returned to the gas station to tell him that I was offended and that he could not treat customers that way. He argued with me but finally "apologized". (He did not really apologize, he continued insisting that the car wash was free). Horrible experience, not returning here again. read more
