BEWARE OF DISHONORABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES AND WALT SWEENEY'S RETALIATORY ACTIONS BEWARE...Mark Sweeney offered me, I did not request, to hold my $12,000 personal check until my settlement check from the insurance company was received. At that time, we would exchange the funds and my personal check would be returned. THEY PUT THROUGH MY PERSONAL CHECK BEFORE 10 BUSINESS DAYS EXPIRED (one business day was lost to Martin Luther King Day...apparently this holiday is not recognized as a Federal Holiday by Sweeney); or perhaps they can not count up to ten. They cashed my personal check despite my communications when check would arrive, bouncing my account sky high. This was done to me immediately after I requested they return extraneous charges I found on my purchase order I never agreed to. They bounced my check in RETALIATION for standing up to their slippery business practices.THEY DISHONORED THEIR OWN AGREEMENT. THEY ARE DISREPUTABLE. Watch out for a $200 Theft Deterrent Product Fee they slide in. Megan, in finance, said to check if information on top of page was correct, then sign if correct. This turned out to be, not a page requiring a signature to verify my personal information BUT a useless insurance that is so ridiculous it is not in compliance with the State of Ohio Insurance Law so they cannot call it insurance even though that is exactly what the product is. Tim Sweeney, of course, agreed to pay AND the bounce fees. I am sure they laughed at me when they returned my money for their useless product, knowing they put the check through. Did the Sweeney boys think this through ? This will just cause additional delays before I can pay the 12K as my account is in a negative status. It is like they stuck a needle in their own eye. Not only are they deceptive, they are not too bright either. Their great finance deal of the century, turned out to be a nightmare. They charged me a $250 documentary fee, but the amount financed was $250 more dollars. I was never ASKED IF I WANTED TO ACCEPT A DEAL THAT ULTIMATELY COST ME FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A $6000 LOAN. That $500 fee is 12% of the principal. Takes all the punch out of their 3.64% interest rate when you factor in the cost. The ADDITIONAL $250 was never disclosed to me. I had to place over 6 hours of phone calls before Sweeney finally spit out the truth. I FOUND VERY LITTLE EVIDENCE OF TRUTH IN LENDING WITH WALT SWEENEY FORD. S A V E Y O U R M O N E Y !!!!! Stay far away from this Swindling Sweeney Enterprise. Attention single moms of teenage drivers! If you are like me, trying to miraculously work outside-the-home and be a stay-at-home-mom simultaneously, money is often tight and parenting time is sometimes shorted. Yet, my dream of having reliable transportation was essential for both my teenagers and myself to hold down jobs and attend school. The TEAM at Walt Sweeney Ford on Glenway Avenue in Western Hills has just made that dream a reality. Recently, I had two noteworthy experiences with them. The first was with Rachel and Jesse in the Service Department. Rachel, the Service Department Team Leader that I was assigned to, "went-to-bat" for me when I brought in my car for a check-up. As it turned out, some of the necessary repairs were to be covered under warranty, and some would have to be out-of-pocket expenses that were more than I had planned for in my budget. Rachel insisted that the car was unsafe to drive and offered to speak to her supervisor, Jesse, on my behalf. Together, they worked out a solution for me that enabled me to have my car fixed and drivable! I appreciate Rachel's sense of sincere concern for, and to commitment to, her customers. It's also relevant to me that Walt Sweeney employs a female as a Service Team Leader. She is industry knowledgeable and personable. Don't get me wrong, when I've had the occasion to interact with the guys in the Service Department, they have been great, too, but it's really nice to have a gal there, also. Shuffling one used car between three drivers all with work and school schedules was getting stressful, especially with the thought of Winter and inclement weather coming. Jon Gonzalez (in sales) and Donny Petro (in Finance) and Mark Campbell(New Car Sales Manager) and Tim Sweeney (General Manager) worked as a TEAM and helped me to get approved for a loan for a new car at an affordable price. Special kudos goes out to Jon and Donny. Each of them took their time to help me teach my 16 years old daughter the "ins-and-outs" of keeping or buying a used car and purchasing a new one. THIS WAS PRICELESS FOR ME!!! They explained insurance coverage, contracts, financing(etc.) in a way that my daughter (a new driver) could understand those concepts. They did not "talk-down" to her or talk "over-her-head" during our visits. One night they both stayed past their scheduled time to go home to answer our questions even though they both had family obligations to meet. We never felt rushed to leave or pressured to buy. I bought a Groupon deal for three oil changes, tire rotations, and discounts on some other services at Walt Sweeney Ford. Here are the experiences my wife and I had redeeming our Groupon voucher: - We got an oil change and tire rotation for my wife's car. The customer service people were cold and unfriendly, making us feel very unwelcome. Later we discovered the mechanic rotated one of the tires incorrectly. It was a directional tire and he put it on the rim facing the wrong direction (rotating opposite the direction of the arrow stamped on the tire). - I later took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. Again, the customer service people were cold and unfriendly. Sometime after, my left-front tire started making a strange grinding noise. I took my neighbor, a mechanic, for a test drive and he feared the axle was shot. When he took a close look, he discovered two lug nuts were missing and the other lug nuts were loose. The folks at Walt Sweeney Ford were the last to touch my car's wheels when they did the tire rotation. I fixed the problem by getting two new lug nuts and tightening all of the lug nuts on the vehicle (others were loose, as well); however, what may be the long-term damage to my car from driving with missing and loose lug nuts? Has my axle or other parts been unduly worn and torn by the wheel violently shaking over the course of at least several days? Even though we still have one more oil change and tire rotation left, after these experiences, we will never take any vehicle to Walt Sweeney Ford ever again. Also, we thought about contacting them directly to request a refund of our voucher price or other compensation, but we felt like that would be a form of hush money and it is much more important to warn others about our experiences. Their negligence could have caused, and still could cause, severe damage to our vehicles or our safety, and we don't want others to face the same potential risk to their personal safety. read more

I had the best experience purchasing my first car from Walt Sweeney! Bob my sales rep was in contact with me about a week and a half before my boyfriend and i made the drive from Chicago to Ohio. He was more than helpful with letting us know what we needed to bring and we were able to contact him even through a very busy schedule. When we got to Walt Sweeney, the process of purchasing the car was faster than i had expected it would be. We were given pointers on financing and everything was broken down to us in the simplest form on how payments are made on what would really help us in the long run with car payments. I could not have asked for a better experience! We felt that Bob and John (the manager) were so honest and we truly felt comfortable! because we live in Chicago, John and Bob let us know that no matter where we were, we would be able to call them with any questions or concerns (which we do not have). The customer service I experienced at Walt Sweeney Ford on Friday, March 13 2015 was great. When I first walked in everyone was so polite and helpful with making sure my needs was taking care of. I went there just to shop around for a new car, I already had in mind what type car I wanted, and what my maximum car note I was willing to pay each month. I was set up with car salesman Andrew Held, he was a really nice, laid back guy, that made me feel really comfortable to trust him with what I was hoping to achieve. In the past years of me getting cars from dealers, I've never had anyone listen to what exactly I wanted and go over and beyond to make sure that my goals was accomplished as he did. He really worked his hand to not only get me the car I wanted, but to also make sure it fit my budget I presented him with.I am happy that I decided to go there, and grateful to be introduce to him as my salesman. Drove to the lot with my wife, parked and walked around, nobody rushed us trying to make us buy a vehicle. This is a plus, because me and my wife do not like being attacked in a store to buy anything, we asked for help and we got a sales associate to help us right away. Mike Wilkins aka "Bubba" was our sales representative he was very helpful and patient because I can be a little picky. He sold me a used car. I test drove it and it ran smoothly without issues. When I got it home it had started making a clicking noise and I noticed a scratch on the bumper. I got an email regaurding my car buying experience. I responded positively about my salesman and the company. Also, I expressed my concerns about the car. Within 5 minutes Walt Sweeney Jr. was calling. He put me on the phone with the service center who got my car in and fixed the next day. When I say fixed they removed the scratch and resolved the issue causing the noise. I received excellent service when buying from Walt Sweeney. Chris in sales and lyndse in service were extremely helpful in every step of my car buying experience. I will not only have my car serviced there, but I will buy from this dealership again. Thank you to the whole team for making my purchase easy. My only complaint is that the splash guard was dragging and I asked them to fix it. It was missing 3 pegs that secure it to the frame. I researched the part and the pegs were very cheap. I'm not sure why they went cheap on this. To fix it they used string instead of ordering the correct parts and fixing it correctly. But that is not a huge complaint. This is first time I have gone out on my own to buy a vehicle so I was very cautious. Well I went there and I am now very glad I did and that I did not pay attention to some of the negative things that were said. I had a GREAT experience when I got my F150 and I just took my daughter there for her first new car - a Focus. We came in looking for a new car after shopping at Chevrolet, Buick, Subaru, Honda, and Toyota. We had a great no pressure salesman, Dwayne, who stayed late and showed us every Escape they had.
