    Justin nightstand

My bedroom furniture is absolutely gorgeous. The team was very helpful especially Judy, customer service manager and Sara, stylist from Old Orchard location. I am happy with the quality and style. I highly recommend this set. It's heavy, well built and stylish. It's the Justin set with a combination of wood and dark metal. Back is the furniture is well built too. It's not the typical cheap material, but wood.

BUYER BEWARE. I regrettably became a customer of Walter E. Smithe on December 18,2020. I had found a bed that I liked on their online website and decided to go into a showroom to look at it in person. I quickly learned that this particular bed was not on any showroom floor but they had a somewhat similar bed made by the same furniture company at the Geneva store so I decided to go ahead and order the bed and a nightstand that day. I was also in the market for a new couch so I looked around for that but I did not purchase a sectional couch that day. Instead I returned to the Oak Brook store on December 21, because I was well aware of the furniture shortage that has been occurring and I wanted to get furniture for my new home. I ordered a sectional based on the promised timeline of the furniture maker, which was still not going to be until February 2021. Upon delivery of the sectional I noticed several spots on the sectional and mentioned it to the delivery guys. They told me the spots were due to the couch sitting on a cold delivery truck and would go away once the couch warmed up. This did not happen, in fact I noticed more spots on the new sectional the next day. I reached out to correct the problem and was offered replacement cushions and a refabricating of the side piece of the damaged sectional. This was NOT an acceptable solution for me as I had purchased a NEW couch, not a used couch that need to be refurbished. After going back and forth with several employees I was finally able to get them to reorder me a new sectional. Never once was an apology really offered and I felt like the management did not care as they had payment in full. I received my reordered sectional in April but awaited delivery of the bed and nightstand that I had ordered. April 24th comes around and I get a call to schedule delivery for the bed and nightstand. I continue to be told that they only deliver in my area on certain days of the week and the days that work for me are not convenient for them. This was incredibly frustrating since I have a job that takes me away from home for 3-4 days a time; but we scheduled delivery for Saturday May 1st. On the Friday before delivery was set as scheduled I received a phone call from their "Customer Service" department that delivery had to be cancelled because the furniture was not in their warehouse. What???? How does a company schedule delivery for something that is not available? Again, they offered to schedule delivery on days that did not work for my schedule and offered no apology no alternate solutions, but they are glad to charge you the delivery fee when you order furniture and do not disclose that they only deliver on certain days of the week. I wake up on the morning of May 1st to a call from the delivery team to tell me they are 5 minutes away. Again, I am confused because they CANCELLED delivery and did not tell the driver. He tells me he just has the nightstand in the truck and I tell him to not even bother to bring an incomplete order to me. I am beyond frustrated dealing with the incompetence and lack of Customer Service from Walter E. Smithe and their associates. For a company who prides themselves on being "Chicago's Best Furniture" they sure have a lot of nerve. The daughters should focus less on making quirky commercials and start focusing on delivering quality customer service to their customers and developing repeat customers. I will discourage ANYONE from shopping with them in the future as I feel there are much better options for furniture and home décor pieces in the Chicagoland area. C&B I am looking at you!

Drawers not closing all the way and unevenly.

We purchased a bedroom set from Walter E. Smithe last summer. Right from the start there were issues when we noticed there was a missing footer on the night stand. The delivery people tried to fix it by replacing the built-in ones with some felt ones, but they ended up splitting the wood at the base. Then we noticed that the soft-close drawers didn't shut properly. To their credit, the store eventually replaced the two pieces that had issues, but we were still concerned that what we got wouldn't hold up. Now some six months later, low and behold, we were right to be concerned. The soft-close drawers are once again having issues shutting properly. Not exactly the type of quality you expect when you pay some $5,800 for a bedroom set (on sale no less). My advice? Shop somewhere else. It's poor quality furniture that will not hold up. We will be replacing our recent purchase this year with something from one of the better furniture stores. I suggest Crate & Barrel, Restoration Hardware, and Room and Board.

There is no kids menu so I ordered the cheapest thing I could find for my small human-Swedish pancakes. I had the lobster roll while hubby had the Aussie steak and eggs. The lobster roll was pretty standard but wasn't amazing. It was small and didn't have any other sides. Service was spotty. We had to ask a few times for water and felt like we were forgotten at times. Let's be real. RH Oak Brook is a beautiful restaurant that is mostly for the vibes.

The solarium atmosphere is stunning, the fountain is charming, and the greenery is lush and thoughtfully curated. From a design and aesthetic standpoint, it's incredible -- easily one of the most visually appealing dining spaces I've been in. The food was... good, but uneven. We started with the cheese and fruit platter, which was delicious and well done. The Caesar salad, however, missed the mark for me. And not because of the dressing -- it actually seemed like the lettuce had been freshly washed (which I appreciate), but it was still holding a lot of residual moisture. Unfortunately, that excess water diluted the Caesar dressing and left the salad soggy. That said, the croutons were to die for -- and that's saying something, because I usually hate croutons. For entrées, my husband ordered the salmon and I had the lobster roll. The lobster roll was excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and adding the caviar was the perfect touch. The salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted good, but it was nothing memorable. To be completely honest, it felt like something I could (and likely have) made at home. Well executed, just not special. Where the experience really fell apart for us was the service. Our server was absent for much of the meal and rarely checked back in. After we finished our entrées, he returned to clear the plates and apologized, explaining that he had been speaking with his manager. While that could be true, I spent many years working in the food service industry, and it's hard for me to understand why a manager would pull a server away from an active table for a prolonged conversation. Maybe that's what happened -- but regardless, it was a significant miss. Between the soggy salad, the standard salmon, and the spotty table service, I don't think we'll be returning. There are simply too many other places where a $200+ dinner feels more justified and better executed. I truly wanted to love this place -- the setting alone almost won me over -- but unfortunately, the overall experience didn't live up to the atmosphere.

Their stores have always offered great design and quality at an affordable price, and I've I've always had great customer service. The issue I am having with Crate and Barrel now is a glitchy transition to Imprint that handles their branded credit card. I first received a digital virtual card and then received the physical credit card. The problem I've been experiencing is syncing the account to access my rewards. I tried to place an online order in early January and saw that I had rewards dollars available but they never appeared on the checkout page. I was logged into both my C&B account and my Imprint account but all I saw was this message: Redeem Reward Dollars Not seeing expected Reward Dollars? Sign into the account associated with your Crate & Barrel Visa Signature® Card. I finally called customer service and I was on a phone call with an agent for close to an hour while he worked to help me. He had to escalate the call to another person who was finally able to resolve the problem. While I was able to redeem my rewards for that purchase, I now see the same thing happening. My Imprint account shows rewards dollars available but my Crate and Barrel account shows nothing. I've read several other negative reviews from customers having similar issues since Imprint took over their credit card. I want to remain a loyal and happy customer but it should not be this difficult to make a purchase.

About a month ago i visited Joss and Main in Oakbrook and found a dresser that i absolutely adored. I was told it was final sale and discounted as he design and color would be being discontinued shortly. I wanted to act fast so i wouldn't loose the opportunity, so i ordered two dressers for my new apartment to be shipped across country to meet me there when i arrived. I also had purchased the matching nightstand and a bed frame to go along with it. The first issue i had was when ordering the bed frame. If i had ordered it to my new apartment, it would arrive before my lease started. Joss and Main suggested i ordered it to my current address and traveled with it and scheduled the installation when i was ready and moving into my new apartment (across the country might i add). They assured us that it would NOT be an issue and that their contracted team could build the bed frame at a different address than the delivery address. When I went to make these changes after the bed frame had arrived, their contracted team said that Joss and Main had not made a ticket for my item and therefore would not be building the bed. Thankfully, i was able to get a refund for this. So, now we have to build the bed frame, not an issue, building furniture isn't bad, just another thing to do when moving in. The following issue is where service truly took a turn and no one at both Joss and Main or Wayfair knew what was going on: Two days before the two dressers were supposed to arrive, i got a notification that they were delayed by three days--originally arriving on July 20th, now arriving on the 23rd. That's alright, i can deal with that, I've already been living out of suitcases and we are still driving across the country anyway. The day before they are supposed to arrive, i get an email saying that the dressers were BROKEN in transit and that Joss and Main would be sending new ones. If you recall, i got these dressers final sale as they were being discontinued, so i wanted to call and make sure they were still going to be sending the same dressers since they were discontinued. On the phone, they assured me that they were the same dressers and that they would now be arriving on July 27th, a full week after they were supposed to be delivered the first time. That's alright though, I'll keep living out of suitcases. On the 24th i check my wayfair portal to track the shipment and see that the replacements are being sent to a DIFFERENT address than the originals! An address that was on file from 3 years prior. I call and make sure they have the correct address listed and they assure me that it's a bug on my end and that the address was showing correct in their end. On the 26th, the day before they are supposed to arrive (i hope you're noticing a pattern), i get a notification that they would not be delivered until the 30th, tracking still showing the dressers in Texas. At this point I'm frustrated but still understanding that things happen and shipments get delayed. In the 29th i get an email saying that now the dressers will not be arriving until AUGUST 8th! This is outrageous at this point so i call again and im aggravated this time. I explain what all has been happening and that im looking at the tracking and it says that the dressers have arrived in the state i live in but wont be delivered for over a week. The woman leaves me on hold to find out what's happening. When she comes back on the phone she tells me that THE DRESSERS DONT EXIST!!!! She says that they are not coming because they aren't in stock. When i ask what i had been tracking she said "i don't know". She then asked if i would like a refund for them... um yes? I don't want to pay for dressers that are allegedly not showing up. I then asked how this happened and what would have happened if i hadn't called and she said "they likely would have kept delaying them until someone noticed that they were no longer in stock". THAT. IS. INSANE. Now, I'm looking for new dressers, NOT from Joss and Main OR Wayfair. I have my friend help me looking for dressers that would match the nightstand that DID somehow arrive. She turns her screen to me and says "wait these are perfect!" I look over and see that the SAME DRESSERS and still being listed in Wayfair and Joss and Main!! Genuinely don't understand what is going on. Joss and Main took me on a ride, a very expensive one at that.
