So happy to be back in my favorite area of the country so I can eat at my favorite restaurant (& find new ones). I arrived not long after they opened and was seated at the bar. This is a place where reservations are a must, though if you don't, the bar is usually open. It is a cute, well taken care of farm house with a casual, yet classy vibe. The food is the epitome of farm-to-table, as all vegetables come from their garden. They bring you an amuse bouche while you peruse the menu. This time it was a chilled tomato soup with basil oil. Very light with so much flavor. I started with the grilled peaches with burratta cheese, drizzled with balsamic. A very nice combination. Next was the bib lettuce salad that was refreshing, with heirloom tomatoes, grilled corn, and an avocado dressing. I paired the salad with the wild mushrooms, zucchini on tomato fettuccine, along with the potatoes gratin. Everything was so well prepared and fresh. Can't wait to go again

Came here on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary! It's a cozy restaurant with Sonoma County vibes. They have rotating menu items on their tostada, Wellington and soup. We opted to try their tostada which was a raw scallop with ceviche sauce. It came with three tostadas and avocado mouse. Scallops were fresh and the avocado mouse balanced out the acidity. For mains I ordered their filet mignon Wellington and my husband the osso bucco. The welli was tender and flaky. My only wish was that it came with some puréed potatoes or any other form of potato starch. Dish only came with sautéed zucchinis and carriage, which were fresh but was looking for a nice creamy potato purée. For dessert. We shared the profiteroles with pistachio gelato. I enjoyed a glass of there Pinot and my husband a pint of pliny. They also gave us two glasses of rosé sparkling for our anniversary which was very nice of them! Service was great. Felt attended too but not bothered! Great place to enjoy a meal. Overall 4.5/5 stars

Wow, lovely and filling meal! Started at the bar with the Chardonnay flight and a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc which is delightful!! From there our guests came and we went to the table. We started with the Dungeness Crab while Robert had the Tuna Carpaccio and his wife had the Burrata with freshly grilled apricots and prosciutto!! Yummo!! Then I had the duck breast and my partner had the prime rib steak mrare and delicious!! Then we finished with the pot de creme and some Beerenauslese that was given to me by a good friend @webgeek!! Phenomenal!!

Our first time here, we split the 3 course prefix and added a seafood entree. Friendly service, relaxing ambiance, fresh farm to table dishes. Bar seating was quite roomy. They start by bringing soft, airy bread, salted butter, and amuse bouche (tonight's was a rich and savory tomato soup). My wife has a tree nut allergy and they did an excellent job of accommodating. Overall, everything we had tonight exceeded our expectations. My favorite was the hanger steak and house made sauce, but the Coquille st Jacques was a close second. And if you order dessert, try the pistachio gelato, it's so good! Caesar- fresh ingredients, well balanced dressing flavors, delicious anchovies. Large enough to feed two easily. Hanger steak- we asked for medium rare and it was cooked to perfection, nice char on outside and juicy inside, loved their house peppercorn sauce, brussel sprouts and side of fries. Coquille St Jacques- delicious scallop dish, bathed in a very rich, creamy, truffly broth. We added lobster which complimented it well. It came with a small salad and finger potatoes and mushroom. Ask for extra bread for dipping in the yummy broth. Dessert- we tried the vanilla and pistachio gelato, both were delicious!

We made a reservation here on a Saturday night for our anniversary. We got free strawberry rose and amuse bouche tomato soup. The ambiance and service was exemplary, but the food was just okay. Items ordered: ~Mary's Organic Chicken Cordon Bleu: Unique dish as the chicken was stuffed with prosciutto. However, I prefer dark meat. I poured the whole gravy boat on the chicken... great choice! ~ Liberty Farms Duck Breast Risotto: Duck was well cooked medium rare. Risotto was under seasoned, but the mushrooms were tasty.

The food was excellent and good proportions! Thank Jesse was being our waiter for our 48th wedding anniversary dinner. He even paid for our sorbet/Gelato! Ambience was nice with Xmas music in background!

Good restaurant. Deep in the heart of Sonoma wine country. Got the following: Large cheese platter: 3 stars. Even though the cheese and accoutrements were good, I would not have considered it "large" by any means Beet salad: 3 stars. All beets! Needed a little extra salt or vinegar or something. Slightly bland but good portion size Wedge salad: 3 stars, as expected, but good Beef bourguignon: 4 stars, big portion, rich hearty flavors. Would definitely get this again Halibut: 4 stars. Tender and moist and loved the sautéed kale and sauce with it. Would get again! Very nice experience.

We stopped here after a day of wine tasting in Sonoma; we couldn't get into the winery, but the bistro had wine flights and several of the WH single vineyard Pinots available by the glass. We ordered a cheese plate and they brought us samples of soup! We had dinner plans elsewhere, but we're definitely coming back here to eat one day. Fantastic service and the staff was very friendly. Keep up the great work!

Ask the Community - Walter Hansel Wine & Bistro

Do they have a corkage fee?

Let me begin by saying they make some good wines ( Walter Hansel) and have a nice wine list. They do have the lowest corkage fee I've seen anywhere; $15 fee for first bottle,…

With their outdoor dining are they dog friendly?

After receiving my salad and beverage though, service all but disappeared. After 25-ish minutes and finally realizing I hadn't seen my server in a while, I managed to flag down another member of the staff (not my server) who kindly offered to check for me, and who returned with the disappointing news that no such item had ever been ordered. Spoiler alert: it had definitely been ordered :( Had anyone at all checked in on me after the salad arrived, I would have inquired about the main I was waiting for and we would have figured this all out relatively quickly - and I probably would have left a more satisfied customer. (I should also note that the salad and the drink were both good, so I was looking forward to the rest.) Instead, I just asked for the check - and I left still hungry and rather disappointed. To add to the weirdness, the server gave me someone else's check at first, with many more items ordered than my drink and salad. I mention it to help characterize the unfortunate misfire vibe. Respect to the servers, I know they're working hard and there are a ton of things that contribute to situations like this - maybe an off night, maybe a gap in training, maybe unexpectedly slammed... maybe something else entirely - but regardless, Yelp is for reviewing one's experience with a business. My experience at Willi's was a bummer, and I am not sure I'll bother going back.

The ambiance is upscale, chic and inviting. Seating is ample - 4th St Cellars offers a two story seating area, bar area seating and beautiful outdoor patio seating as well. For our visit we sat next to the fire place and shared a bottle of Pinot Noir. The employees were both welcoming and accommodating. They offered us a cheese plate to share which was a nice touch, we enjoyed the light snacks with our Pinot. At first the wine bar was fairly empty but before we knew it there was a full house. They had live music which we really enjoyed - the music wasn't so loud it over powered our conversation. Overall I'd give 4th St Cellars a 9/10. My only reservation and slight critique was the odd experience we had when selecting our wine. We asked for tastings of the Pinot and Cabernet before selecting our bottle. We were bought one tasting of each for my friend and I to share - meaning we shared our glass. While we didn't mind sharing germs I found it a bit odd lol. Our thought was we weren't clear in how we wanted to try the wine. Either way it wasn't a make or break for us and we still enjoyed our visit. 4th street cellars is a great stop for date night or a girls night! We will be returning.

It's inviting vs the stuffy atmosphere some places have. BABAGANOUSH PITA we got it for the kiddo expecting it to be run of the mill stuff you get. But the babaganoush had the extreme rich flavors of smoked eggplant and felt like almost half an eggplant went in there. Not diluted with tahini, garlic, just pure flavors of eggplant with tanginess of sumac. LITTLE GEM SALAD WITH RAINBOW TROUT was hearty, leafy and very refreshing. The pickled celery was the surprise. HAMACHI CRUDO - beautifully assembled with thoughtfulness, light, refreshing. A bunch of flavor bombs in there so each bite is an adventure. Basil making it refreshing, earthy crunch from hazelnut, sharpness from green onion, sweet tart kiwis. I think a bit of citrus would make this a superstar. Mandolin shaved limes perhaps? GRILLED MAITAKE MUSHROOMS - ok I think this was the chefs most technically impressive dish, with an exercise in playing with bitter profiles and turning it into a master piece. Grilled maitake gets the char from the grill is the first flavor layer, it's woken up by the wild thyme from the zatar. Next the Japanese turnips bring the second dimension with earthy beautiful bitter notes on a bed of a creamy tahini based sauce. It's finished with fresh parsley to bring a fresh element to it. Great stuff. Could raddichio be added to make this more challenging? I saw those crunchy POTATOES and I got them even after eating the meal lol.
