This place is the perfect date night. The majority of the seating is for 2, with thr exception of a large table in the back. They have music playing but alot large tvs for those that want to watch a game. The day we went we had a beer and an app and were in and out within the hour without any delay in service. The girl behind the bar was nice & attentive and besides a kitchen staff appeared to be the only one running the place. They have a fully stocked bar and plenty of beers to pick from, a great place to try if you havent aready.

Had a girls lunch out. This place is soooo cute and full of fun drinks and food! I had the ceviche and the truffle fries and they were both delicious. The waitress was nice and checked on us frequently. The drinks were also very good. I want to go back and try the breakfast. I was here for 2 hours and it went by so fast!

As someone who's very familiar with the social dining scene in and around Sonoma County, I can confidently say this new spot in downtown Santa Rosa is a great addition. I've had the chance to stop in a few times now for a quick drink and each visit has been consistently enjoyable. The atmosphere is welcoming, cozy and exactly what you want from a lounge. It's comfortable, stylish, and easy to settle into. I've visited a few times now (primarily for drinks) and each experience has been memorable. I haven't tried the food yet because I've clearly been very committed to making my way through the drink menu first, but the food is next on my list. I'm looking forward to returning soon to experience it and update my review. Most of the time's I've stopped in it's been kind of quiet; my assumption is word hasn't quite gotten about this place. So far, this lounge is off to a strong start and I'm excited to see it continue to grow. 10/10.

Cocoa w marshmallows (and some coffee)

Joined a friend and her granddaughter here for a midday snack after I left the gym and was starving. Ordered a cocoa/coffee (yea a mocha but that's how I ordered it because the cocoa comes with fire toasted marshmallows) and even though it was a couple hours before dinner service (4pm) I asked for the braised short ribs over mashed potatoes. Being that it wasn't 4 yet some of the items were not fully prepared so I opted to have the beef short ribs over fries (same veg ) and do you know what they did? The owner went ahead and had the dish prepared as described with the mashed potatoes. I found this level of customer service to be amazing and unexpected as it clearly states on the menu I'd have to wait til 4. For desert I chose the caramel brûlée cheesecake which came out in the cutest display and was decadent. In addition to the way these guys go out if their way to accommodate you, the food was superb. I'm talking gives you the happy-wiggles-cause-it's-so-good superb. Ambiance is nice, tables and deep booths for privacy. 10/10 I'll be back

Came here for the first time for our anniversary and we loved it! I asked for a recommendation for a strong sweet drink and they nailed it, exactly what I wanted. My fiancé ordered a beer and I ended up trying a couple drinks that were seriously fire. We also ordered the wings and fries and both were really good. The vibes were amazing, great music, low/smooth lighting, and true bar vibes without being overwhelming. Super chill and a great spot for a night out. Definitely coming back!

Love this place! Food is always delicious. Friendly service, which keeps me coming back. Love their selection of drinks and options.

    Wedge Salad with Roasted Chicken

One of my favorite places downtown, they opened in September & I have now been over 20 times - I have tried almost everything on the menu and can tell you that everything is so fresh & delicious & really consistent. Highlights are all the salads & the braised short rib with mashed potatoes. Salmon is amazing... short rib grilled cheese is fire. Drinks are amazing with fresh made juices & an ever changing cocktail menu. cannot recommend this place enough for either lunch or a date night! it's fun on the weekends, fun at night, fun at lunch.. what more can you ask for.

I finally came in for the first time with my friend. We each ordered a drink, they were sooo cute & delicious. The steak plate was very flavorful as well. It did not disappoint. The place had a classy ambiance. I'll definitely be back.

    Pesto pasta

J&A Lounge is a gem. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is elevated but still welcoming--perfect for date night, girls' night, or even a casual dinner that turns into drinks. The drink menu is outstanding. There's truly something for everyone--from beautifully crafted cocktails to wine and beer options that feel intentional, not generic. Every drink is balanced, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can tell the bar program was thoughtfully curated. Now let's talk about the food--because it does not play second to the drinks. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and well-executed, but the pesto pasta is an absolute must-have. Creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned--it's one of those dishes you think about long after you leave. Great food, amazing drinks, and a vibe that makes you want to stay longer than planned. J&A Lounge has officially become a go-to spot. Highly recommend.

    Braised Short Rib

Stopped by this new location downtown to try it out. First impression small dinning are with full bar semi casual atmosphere and decor. Sat at the bar but they have some tables for two and a few tables for more. Service was great very attentive and helpful. Have Happy hour during the week. Full bar with many top shelf brands, wine and champagne with plenty of beer options with about 10 on tap. Wife got a beer and I got a Long Island quickly. Tried the Calamari which was amazing with a great flavor dipping sauce. For dinner wife went with fish tacos was just average flavor but good portion. I went with braised beef short rib over mash. Sauce was phenomenal flavor mashed potatoes, very creamy and cooked. Perfect braised beef short rib very good flavor, but could've probably been braised a little longer as you got to the middle and not as tender. Overall, four out of five stars will give it another go. Maybe they are still working through some grand opening learning curves.

The original brew master became the co-owner when the winery left the beer business in 2003. It was then moved this location in 2004, opening as a brewpub. It's been on my list of places to visit for a while, so my wife, her mom, and I took the opportunity to stop in for a Thursday night dinner on our way to San Francisco from Fort Bragg. The inaugural double IPA (aka Imperial IPA) was made by the current co-owner at a different brewery in 1994. Double means it uses double the hops and malts, and the ABV is quite a bit higher. He then created Pliny the Elder (ABV 8.0%) in 2000, recognized as the most famous DIPA. The track continued, with Pliny the Younger in 2005, a triple IPA (using triple the hops and malts with ABV of 10.25%). This version is available once a year in the spring, since it costs so much money and time to make. With so much malt being used, a large amount of time (and hops) is needed to balance. I've had Pliny the Elder in bottles before, and really liked it: I don't like the hoppy 'piney' taste in my beers, but also recognize that not enough will make the beer too sweet (which I've been facing with a lot my island beers lately). Parking is street only, but there was a lot of it, with the metered parking only requiring payment till 6 pm. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and immediately seated at a table near the bar. As expected, it was quite loud, with after work folks having a good time. We got menus, ordered our food, and then decided what to do about flights. The brewery is also known for their Belgian style and thus offers two different flights. It was my first time, and didn't know how much my wife could help, so decided to order the California Sampler (a selection of 12 different West Coast 5 oz. pours of ales and lagers for $15.45) to start: O.V.L. Stout (Old Vic Loyals) - Irish nitro stout - really beginning to love stouts, and this one was good. Velvet Glow - lager - solid. Ending up buying 6 pack to bring home ($12.99) STS Pils - pilsner. Bought a 6-pack for $12.99. Russian River Porter - Blind Pig IPA - West Coast IPA Happy Hops - Juicy IPA Mosaic Stack - West Coast IPA SimCoe 25 - West Coast IPA Citra Flash Mob - West Coast IPA Mind Circus - Hazy IPA DDH Pliny the Elder - really good. bought two cans at $5.99 each. Pliny the Elder - the original Felt pretty good, so decided to order the Belgian Sampler (9 different for $13.63), Surprisingly, I didn't like it nearly as much (my favorite fruit beer during this trip was the Howzit Punch beer). Petite Robert - table beer Little White Lie - Belgian White Robert - saison Perdition - biere de sonoma Damnation - golden strong ale Mortification - quad Supplication - sour brown ale Intinction - barrel aged pilsner Consecration - sour dark ale In terms of the food, it was solid. The 8 pc chicken wings ($17) were good, and the cheesy garlic bread ($10) was filling. I had the meatball sandwich ($16) and upgraded the fries to a spinach salad (+$4): it was tasty, loved the toasted French bread and marinara sauce, with the meatballs being OK (tasted from frozen)...loved the spinach salad with strawberries and blue cheese. We finished off our meal with a Vinnies (co-owner) sundae: good vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a lot of almond slivers. Payment was at the table, and me being again very pleasantly surprised at how little the flights were (a typical brewpub where they charge $3-$4 per 5 oz, would have cost 4 times as much...though of course I wouldn't have drunk as much either).

The green salad had a good variety of vegetables also. They were quite busy, but it took us over an hour and a half to get our table. While we were waiting my friend and I had to flag down the staff so that we could get a beer while we waited. I sat at the bar and was served by the owner of the Pub, who is from the UK. I loved chatting with him about the pub and all the fun things that go on there. The pie comes out steaming hot with a nice layer of browned mashed potatoes on top. There is real crust to this kind of pie. Underneath the mashed potatoes is more like beef stew. My wife and I had just visited Abbey Tavern this past weekend, a premier Scottish pub in the City, and we expected a similar atmosphere. However, the moment we showed up, we were met with great disappointment. The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.
