Would have liked to give 5 stars for the experience today, but for the entry and exit experience with the person on the right hand side of the door who hands over takeaways and probably is also supposed to seat people. First the good part- it's my first time at SEA Thai Bistro. We liked the location, ambience, our server - PK. PK was helpful and hospitable also humorous so fun to interact with. We informed PK we would like to order vegetarian and he was nice enough to suggest what mains can be ordered/altered to make vegetarian (without any fish or fish paste added). With limited choice being there, we ordered Tofu Drunken Noodles, Chicken Cashew (chicken substituted by Tofu) with Jasmine Rice and a few chilled Simba (& Simba refills). The other part was - the staff member at the right side of the door. She looked hassled throughout; right from the time we walked in and exited. We told her we did not make a reservation and are two of us so is a booth available, she was reluctant and still made us sit at the smaller table for two (while most of the indoor tables and booths were still free). No problem, maybe she had been having a bad day. Similar hassled attitude observed at the time of leaving; leaves one with not a great taste ! So, while we would likely choose to come back for the food and else that felt good; hoping we don't have to meet or be greeted by that same employee and her inhospitable attitude. read more

Great location in Montgomery Square with both inside and outside seating. We recently called for a reservation for nine on a hot sundae and we were lucky that they could accommodate us inside, no problem. Everything was tasty - oysters on the half shell, Pad Thai, drunken noodles, pineapple, fried rice, and a delicious red pumpkin curry. They have a great selection of beer, a full bar and tasty specials, including a spicy margarita. Highly recommend. read more

Dinner for seven. We were seated quickly and efficiently. The drinks and food ordering process was efficient. The cocktails were pretty but perhaps a bit light on key ingredients. The food itself was ok but a bit bland. Unlike the typical Thai restaurant, there were no questions about desired spice level. The sound level in the dining room is high. And folks tend to talk louder to compensate and be heard, which only lakes things worse. read more

The last time we went with a bigger group it was actually not very organized, but I'm giving them a pass because their food is excellent. The ambience is nice, rustic, casual. We wanted to have some Thai food and this place came up with good ratings online. Breaking down this review in a few categories. Ambience 5/5: the interior is stunning upscale, and looks newly renovated very beautiful. Not your typical Thai restaurant so I was very impressed. Food 3/5: unfortunately the food just felt short for me. It did not taste like authentic Thai food. The price was on the higher side, but it felt very westernized. We order drunken noodles and for some reason it came out pretty watery/saucey but the flavor wasn't there. The vegetables were overcooked, and it felt very clear that it wasn't cooked in a wok. Also a defaulted to chicken and had no other options, which was also strange to me. Spicy beef noodle taste it kinda like Vietnamese pho, but the broth was very light in flavor and a bit tangy citrus. There were a few pieces of beef and it was not spicy at all. The noodles were rice noodles. It was just OK. The survey was great and the food came out quick. The waiter was attentive. Overall, we had a good experience. however, if you're looking for authentic Thai food, this is not it. Other spots might not be as nice but depends on what you're looking for. read more

Sea Thai Bistro has a lot of potential, but our experience was mixed. We ordered the drunken noodles and the spicy beef noodle soup. Unfortunately, the drunken noodles were a letdown because they came out watery, lacked that authentic wok flavor, and overall were pretty bland. The spicy beef noodle soup was better and fairly enjoyable, but despite the name, it wasn't actually spicy. Service was mediocre throughout our visit. The hostess wasn't very friendly and showed little emotion, which set a lukewarm tone from the start. On the positive side, the restaurant has a beautiful interior that feels modern and inviting. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus in Santa Rosa. Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes, so value-wise it wasn't bad. Overall, it's an okay spot with nice ambiance, but the food and service need improvement for us to be excited about coming back. read more

Sea Thai Bistro has been a staple in Santa Rosa for years and I've been coming here several times a year for years. Anytime friends or family are visiting, this is one of the first places I take them. It's upscale Thai cuisine but still very much comfort food. The interior is elevated and cozy, especially after the renovation (though I loved it even before). A lot of restaurants struggle to do both dine-in and takeout well, but Sea Thai nails both. You can order takeout and it still tastes like the chef just made it in the kitchen for you. Tonight I had the lamb chops with curry and rice amazing. Highly recommend. I also love the green curry, and I always get the lychee lemon drop... so good. I personally love sitting at the bar, it's beautiful and has always been my go-to spot but it's also perfect for a date night. Very intimate and one of my fav spots in Santa Rosa. read more

Met a friend for dinner this evening. Many things were still impressive and they were the service, ambience & wine list. I had a lovely Sancerre that paired nicely with my food. I typically choose the pumpkin curry but decided to try something different this time- the Massaman Curry. It did not compare to the full flavors of the pumpkin curry and the consistency was more like a soup. I didn't plan on having rice, but it was impossible to eat this without it. I took home the rest and plan to spice it up a bit. My friend loved her pod Thai and it looked wonderful and was quite plentiful as well. We also enjoyed the Panko crust tofu as an appetizer. The noise level is pretty extreme there. We had been seated at a table, but asked to move to the bar. It was a little less loud- just really hard to hold a conversation. All in all a solid 4 stars. I went in just days before a month long closure for remodel and I look forward to going back to check out the changes. I was dining alone and took a table outside. I wanted to try some different flavors off the menu, so I went for the Starter's Parade, which left me satiated and satisfied! I couldn't tell you if I had a favorite because everything was so delicious. The presentation was spot on and the service was excellent. A couple at a nearby table frequently the restaurant and had never seen the platter - it was fun telling them all about it. They shared their favorite thing to enjoy is the chicken galangal soup and they share an order of pad Thai, so I may have to try that next time! read more

The good (4 stars): Interior (would prefer sitting at the bar), cocktail menu, decent variety of food options across seafood/meat/vegetarian The mediocre (3 stars): A little salty for my taste I would have probably enjoyed this place more with a date or girlfriends catching up - ideally with a seat at the bar that is central to the restaurant. Great, dimly lit decor, lots of cocktail/drink options, and a decent menu - though lots of curries! My experience was with my husband (who does not like curry) and my two toddler kids. They were kind enough to let us do a walk in if we promised to finish within an hour given they were booked (with toddlers, we try to eat quickly and bounce - no problem!). Without a curry option, we got the brown noodles (pad see ew), beef and broccoli, basil seafood, and sides of rice and rice noodles. From a food perspective, I found it tasty but a little too salty. The basil seafood was by far the best. I don't personally like pad see ew with pork (which was the only option) - usually I prefer chicken. And the beef broccoli - sort of like Chinese beef and broccoli but with bell peppers and onions - was definitely overcooked. It was a decent meal, great service, and a good option located conveniently in the Montgomery shopping complex, but it made me think that we're spoiled with better Asian food in the peninsula / south Bay. *Also my food experience might have been better if I had gotten to order the pad Thai and a green curry with girlfriends vs. my husband =P read more

Always forget about this place but whenever I show up, it's consistent quality. Yes it's American westernized Thai but it's delicious. My go-tos; papaya salad, pad thai, Thai curry noodle, and pumpkin curry. Heard tri tip salad is bomb too. Drinks are strong but taste like low shelf/ well. I promised my lovely girlfriend a "fancy date" today. She recommended Sea Thai based on its inviting ambiance. The restaurant did not disappoint. The place is spacious, with a well-stocked bar and patio seating for warmer seasons. The seats were comfortable and our table was luxuriously large. Our servers, PK and Nick, were the highlights of the evening. PK was delightful, joking and making us feel welcomed. Nick was professional and attentive to our requests. They are wonderful servers and Sea Thai is lucky to have them. The food was delicious. The Panko Fried Tofu was crunchy and came with a nice tangy sauce. The English Cucumber and Avocado Salad was creamy and a nice portion size. And the red pumpkin curry was perfection. My husband and I went out for dinner here with our friends for a double date, and the service was super friendly, we felt right at home. Since we had little ones with us, it was awesome that they provided highchairs and plastic water cups for the kids. We kicked things off with the Starter's Parade, which is perfect for first-timers because it lets you sample a bunch of their appetizers. My husband chose the Seafood Panang Curry with a side of white rice, and he really liked it. I went for the Drunken noodles, and I loved it too; the bell peppers were just right, not overcooked or mushy. I should mention that starting July 1st, 2025, the dining area will be closed for renovations, but they'll still be doing takeout and delivery. They plan to reopen in August, and I can't wait to dine in again once the renovations are done; I'm sure it's going to be fantastic. read more

Beautiful Ambiance. This was a gorgeous restaurant for a decade and then they did a facelift because the shopping center has gone very upscale. Now it is again beautifully decorated, just very different and much less colorful. Do the rich prefer blacks and greys? The cocktails are creative and delicious and the bar is very inviting. The restaurant is not quiet, don't go with your parents who wear hearing aids, or should be wearing them. The noodle dishes are very good, the curry dishes are very good, salads are very good and appetizers are okay. Nothing is as spicy as some hole in the wall Thai place in Oakland, unfortunately. 3-3.5 stars. The Coddingtown location is definitely better. I also agree with a lot of other recent reviews that it's kinda pricey for the servings you get. We did traditional pad Thai, beef and broccoli, and the summer fire chicken for take out, and it was ready more than 20 mins before the quote time. I would have been pretty disappointed if I hadn't shown up early and my food had been dying that whole time. The summer fire chicken was the best of the bunch. I'd give that a solid 4-4.5 stars; really good flavor and everything was cooked well. Pad Thai was good, not great; 3.5-4. A little dry and lacking in flavor, but the proteins were cooked nicely. The real letdown was the beef and broccoli. It was served in basically a broth, not even really a sauce, and it was absolutely decimated with minced garlic! That's all you could taste! Beef was prepared ok, but the broccoli was soggy mush, like it was already steamed and then added to essentially a soup. I don't think we'll be rushing back, but maybe the summer fire chicken can be another addition to our easy take out options. read more

My employer ordered takeout; being vegetarian I ordered the veggies and jasmine rice as it seemed pretty safe. For some unknown reason it contained jalapeños (??), which I'm allergic to. Nowhere in the list of ingredients were those mentioned. Luckily, it's not a life-threatening allergy, but I will say I'm very uncomfortable and disappointed. The starter parade, or what my friend likes to call the sampler parade was fantastic. The fact that other restaurants haven't figured out how to do this is just my numbing to me. They were three of us so we got three of everything if you'd like something, you can order one individually. I lived in Santa rosa for 17 years visited the old location just a few times and I'm happy I'm older and can appreciate things like this now. The service was fantastic. The ambience was great.
