This time when we visited Utopia, albeit our tasting flights were comped, their goal at the end of the day is to get you to buy a bottle(s) or become a wine club member. So when I go limping in and ask the man behind the counter if he can recycle my glass bottle he says yes he can but then as I approach him he tells me I can just go ahead and take it outside to the white bin. From this interaction I left the tasting room and the winery host and that the winery host with the strong sensation of sour grapes. The host arrived with very good timing just as most of us had finished off our first pour which was as I recall a very fruity, like and alcohol fruit salad served very chilled. It was actually quite good. Next came three Pinot noirs. I typically do not care fore Pinot noir wines, But I will usually find at least one Pinot that pleases me. This was no exception. The first Pinot in our flight was ok. I was the wine list showed only our tasting flight. The second Pinot was a delight, it was full flavored and peppery, such a nice surprise. The last Pinot I don't think anyone liked. On to the Chardonnay. It was described to us as being aged in first oak, and then stainless steel. We learned about the effects of the 2020 fires on the wines and were able to taste a Pinot from that year for comparison with the years just before. We also got to taste the rose aged and bottled next to a pour fresh from the barrel for comparison. This was our most unique and personalized tasting experience. We were the only people at the winery so we were able to ask lots of questions and learned a lot. We enjoyed ourselves so much we ordered a case to be shipped to our house. They were Eco friendly decades before it was trendy. I love all of the Cameron wines, my favorite being the Dundee Hills Pinot Noir. The D.H Pinot Noir has strong tannins and light acidity, precisely what I look for in a good Pinot. There's obviously a lot of heart, soul, thought, and talent that goes into their incredible wines.

We also wanted a place that offered tastings of white wines since Pinot is not our favorite. We arrived without a reservation. Mind you, this place is HUGE! There are numerous rooms that were completely empty. The main tasting room had probably 5 tables occupied, so it was not crowded. We didn't make a reservation because we went to another winery first, which was a 90 minute tasting, and then had lunch afterwards. Domaine was our second stop, but we didn't want to guess at a time we'd arrive with our driver. The host was kind enough and sat us at a low table that I requested. It took about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table to pour some tastes. While we waited, my sister walked over towards the bar area and overheard two of the wine servers say "it's okay, they're just a walk-in." Really? Maybe we were a walk-in with a thousand dollars to spend! Our pourer was accommodating to our taste for white wine and created a tasting for us. We also ordered a half serving of oysters to pair with our wines. After our first taste, the guy came back and poured us three tastes of three of the same varietal and left the bottles on our table. We waited over 30 minutes for him to come back! In that time, we took it upon ourselves to refill our glasses, and not one person came to see if we were okay or if we were done with our oysters. Finally, after that long wait, we got to taste two more whites. The tasting was $60 each, but if you bought wine totaling $120, they waived the fees. Only because of that, I ordered two bottles. That, along with the oysters got us to the minimum, so our tastings ended up no charge. Good thing! I would have been very vocal if I had paid that much to be completely ignored! All in all, their wines were decent enough, but I'll never go back or order from them again.
