In this city visiting and as always we try to find a bar that is chilled and laid back. Well we found just that at this brewery. Walked in and found two seats at the bar and start looking at the wall of possible beers to try. We asked for a sample and decided on Walters bitter and Walters weight. The bartender was efficient but wasn't very personable, she would walk away mid sentence and never asked if we needed anything. However, we stayed and ordered disco chips and a Bill Murray pizza. Both were a good choice and even had leftovers. The place was very crowded and live music was offered so it was a cool hangout spot on a Friday night. read more

The ambience here is great! The theme is based off of a fire station. All of the staff here are very friendly and quick for service. They had a deal going on where they did all day Happy hour for IPAs on a Friday, which is a rare find! Would definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

I was in the valley in September... had heard good things about Walter Station but didn't want to get caught up in traffic so I kept putting it off.... until I lunched w a buddy before his flight, he said he would be killing time here before so... I met him. Ummm...WOW!!! I did two flights, ten beers. All SOLID!! One was an Upslope guest tap but as I told the beertender: I don't think I have a favorite, they are all so delicious!! When it came down to it, not a coffee drinker but I do enjoy coffee beers, I opted for a pint of the Coffee & Cream! The staff were all super friendly and the polite tap room manager, just trying to work on his laptop and talk to staff... I kept "what about this beer"ing him, but he was kind and responsive every time! I really like the open tap room. The parking lot is super tiny but there is free street parking. Don't skip on Walter Station; they brew absolutely delicious beer, that is poured by friendly and knowledgeable staff, served in a comfortable and spacious tap room. It's near the airport, so it's pretty central. We dropped family at the airport during rush hour & decided to eat dinner close by rather than getting back into the chaos. This place is just north of the airport, very easy to get to. The parking is a little challenging but we scored a good spot on the street. They have a great offering of beers & other drinks. My husband got an IPA & said it was great. I got the Prickly Pear Sour & loved it. He had the Reuben sliders & really liked those. I got the one topping pizza (sausage) with the cauliflower crust & it was great! They have happy hour 3 to 6 & it's a great deal. The restroom is outside & an interesting concept -- separate "toilet" rooms with locked doors that show occupied. Then there is the hand washing station in the center area. There is a patio with picnic tables but we were there on a rainy evening so no one was out there. The staff are nice & very efficient. On a Thursday before 6 it was quite busy & people kept coming in! read more

Had to take my dad to the airport but wanted to get lunch first so I brought him over here. The inside and outside both look great as they embrace the buildings history as an old firehouse that it was. The bartender was very nice and served us quickly. My sour gose was delicious and my dad really liked his IPA. He love the huge meatball sub he ordered and my only knock on the pepperoni pizza I got was that it could've spent a few more minutes in the oven as the cheese wasnt fully melted, BUT it still tasted quite good. WALTER STATIO BREWERY these guys are doing some great things. They have an amazing beer menu, great food for a brewery, and stellar customer service. The pretzel, charcutier board, and pizzas are my favorite. Occasionally a live band and events depending on what is going on and have recently opened a "club" which hosts world rebound DJs. Came by here while overnighting in the area in order to catch a super early morning flight out of Sky Harbor. The night I came by they had 14 beer choices available on draft plus a draft NA rootbeer and several canned options. I enjoyed each of the beer choices I tried/ (Baja Girl Blond, Studio Session, and Coffee and cream Nitro ale) they were all very smooth. Prices are good, 16 oz pours range $6-$8. They have a kitchen that cranks out appetizers, salads, sandwiches and pizza's. We started with the Disco chips which are a made in house kettle style chip covered with beer cheese, bacon, green onions, and sour cream. Delicious! Then I got a Buffalo chicken pizza and my BF got the Hot Italian Sandwich. His sandwich was huge! It came on a toasted hoagie roll and was served with chips (you can get a salad instead for $3) he deemed it very good! He's a big eater and he could only eat half. My Buffalo. Chicken pizza was a little disappointing. While the flavor was decently good it was described on the menu as a pan-style pizza so I was picturing a much thicker crust than what came out. The pizza while rectangular in shape was actually very thin and crispy and while I like thin and crispy crust pizzas when I have my heart set on a pan pizza I feel let down. We sat at the bar and Ryan took care of us and we enjoyed his service. He was available when we needed him and was knowledgeable on the menu and the beers and was friendly without being a beers snob which can happen at brewhouses. read more

I have high hopes for Walter Station's success! I contacted them to have my Meetup group do a Sunday Funday there and was quickly contacted back about doing so! They are a SUPER NEW brewery to the Valley (as of June 2019 only 4mo old) so were totally open to the us. Their space allows for large groups of people to gather- the public area is where the trucks used to park in the firehouse, the actual brewing takes place in the "private quarters" of what used to be the firehouse. Jim the owner and his beertender were quite welcoming as everyone arrived. It wasn't really busy so everyone was able to get a pint or flight and food within a reasonable timeframe. Once we all got settled Jim came out and talked to us about how he got to opening WSB- basically a guy who likes beer and interested in home brewing his own and sharing it after some public success in one of his first ever brewed, the Baja Girl Blonde. Baja Girl tastes like one of those you need to drink on a porch of a big house at sunset, clean, crisp and refreshing. As an aside, he gave us some background on the former fire station- it had been used as such by the city of Phoenix until the mid-2000's. Swiss Miss, their interesting VW bus, was a sight-unseen Craigslist purchase that fits well into the theme/decor of a brewery in an ex-fire station. Jim is big on traditional beers which is why you won't see a lot of other styles brewed here outside of blondes, ales and IPAs. He's taken those as bases (like the Warrior IPA) and crafted some pretty good flavors to enhance them such as the Grapefruit Warrior and the Skwincher. They have a small food menu too with an emphasis on pizza and AMAZING loaded kettle chips. Can't go wrong with those + beer. I look forward to their success! read more

We just happened to see this place pop up on our phone as we were parking in our hotel on Van Buren. We wanted to get a bite and decided to check it out. We got there just before the last call for food. Our servers let us know to make sure we got an order in. I got the French dip, and it was just amazing. The horseradish mayo really made the sandwich delicious. They have a nice beer selection of their own brews plus beers from other places. The service deserves big kudos. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I don't know if we will be in that part of Phoenix again, but we will definitely come back if we are. It was a great experience. read more

What a breath of fresh (albeit hot) air this place is. I cannot think of anything bad to say about them. How good are they? Well, I bought cans to go, which I rarely do, and was highly IN-offended by the price of the 4 pack. Phoenix Ales should walk down here and take a lesson, but that would imply that Phoenix Ales is open to change. So I will go over the mechanics just for your novices: - The beer is solid - The food is good and simple (great salads) - The brewery is inside an old fire station and has lots of character - Maybe the nicest bathrooms I have been to at any brewery in the valley - The service is excellent I guess a negative would be the neighborhood (unless you like sex shops) and the parking. I purchased cans of Hazing Arizona from GCM and was told that beer is f*ing amazing... As it turns out, having fresh HA IPA on tap is pretty f*ing amazing too! Baja Girl is nice and light as well, but not my preferred style of beer. Cassandra is a terrific addition to the crew and started us iff in the right direction with poutine + bbq pork + jalapeños...YES to all! I've loved Saffron Jak's pizzas since their early food truck days, and this is such an awesome bonus to enjoy a Super Greeky and a Bill Murray along side my brews. I went to another brewery after lunch, but a car accident required some detouring around my hotel and I saw just how close Walter Station was to my airport hotel, so I started thinking about stopping in after I went to the hotel to unwind. In my room I pulled up their website and saw they had food too, plus a British Bitter Ale called "Winston's". I'm named after the renown British PM and the ESB is one of my favorite styles. I knew it had to be. I found a spot at the bar just as I walked in. The options were plentiful and the flight is comprised of five samples. The beers out of the tap were very heady, but it was managed by my server. I went through the flight saving Winston's for last. I gave it a 5.00 on Untappd and ordered a pour to accompany my salad (Elote Salad with Chicken). As I closed my ticket, I grabbed a mixed 4 pack and a shirt. Next time, please get a shirt with the Winston label. I'm definitely going back and grabbing Crowlers of the ESB for home (unless you can can it). read more

Had a layover in Phoenix and decided to check this place out. They have a good beer selection including some brewed on the property. It is a unique location (50-60's era firehouse). We've been patrons of Walter Station since they opened, and they continue to improve. On our most recent stop, we thought their beer selection has been greatly improved since opening. We tried a delicious hazy and a Pilsner that can also be purchased in cans to-go. In the large main room, they added a concrete top bar with a lot of socially distanced seating and plexi-glass with specially crafted "beer holes" where beer magically appears from the bartender after you order it. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and it paired very well with the beer. They always have great customer service and extremely clean and modern unisex bathrooms. There are only a few parking spots within their gates, but you can usually find parallel parking outside on the street. read more

First off the atmosphere of this place is very unique, awesome, and creative! One issue with the location is the parking you kind a have to find on the street and area isn't the best... About the drink menu and the food menu were unique and very interesting while being tasty at the same time. When I dined in you could join their mailing club to get a pint of beer for a dollar which is very hard to beat. Since I signed up I've been getting their emails and they have lots of promotions that are very enticing along with switching up the menu to keep it from getting stale and boring like a lot of other places. There are dog bowls for water and our awesome waitress, Cassandra, brought out a fresh pitcher just for our pup. Cassandra was all around good vibes too. If you have kids, bring em too! They do not have a kid menu but don't let that discourage you from stopping by since all the food is family friendly. Onto the brews and food: we were told that all the beers we had were made in house. I loved that bit of info since I genuinely enjoyed my entire flight. The Salt and Sour and Tart & Cherry are a must try. Just Be Nice was another fav. Everyone's beer taste buds differ so you will just have to stop by and give them a try. Very impressed with our 1st time visit to WSB. The brewery space was very inviting, cool indoor and outdoor space. The staff was friendly and service was great. I love the atmosphere and the original firehouse features. They had live music which was a great surprise and an awesome indoor/outdoor feel. The bar is pretty small and awkward considering the size of the venue. Our bartender wasn't the friendliest so that was a bummer. I wasn't expecting them to have a food menu so I was pretty excited to learn they served pizza, nachos, etc. We ordered the chicken nachos which were great but I wish the cheese had been warm.
