We stumbled upon this location while traveling in the area. The space feels very new, and I liked the vibe. The layout is not over crowded, there's a good mix of high tops and regular tables, and the bar is spacious. It wasn't too loud while we were there. The server seemed competent enough and took care of us without reminders. He seemed a little awkward at times, but nothing too weird. It was a guy with a beard but that could describe just about anyone serving beer in a place that has "Lager House" in the name unless they're not a guy. We had the meatballs as an appetizer and I had the steak cobb salad. The meatballs were awesome. The sauce was dang near to homemade and the meatballs were well sized and seasoned nicely. I was really pleased with the meatballs. The steak salad was very good and the steak was prepared just the way I ordered, medium rare. Great across the board. I've been attending a recurring business meeting at State 48 Lager House in Scottsdale every other week with a group of 15-20 people, but after my recent experience, we're seriously reconsidering using this location moving forward. I ordered a small Caesar salad and a soda. After waiting around 30 minutes with no soda ever arriving, the waitress finally came over with the salad. By that point, I waved it off because the delay was excessive and I no longer wanted it. A little while later, I was brought a bill for a large Caesar salad and a Coke -- despite never receiving the soda and declining the salad after the long wait. The waitress later came back with a small salad in a to-go container, and I explained again that I wasn't paying for items I either never received or had declined because of the delay. What made the situation worse was the way management handled it. The manager approached me with an attitude and stated that she "saw the video" and that I "needed to pay or not come back to the establishment." There was no attempt to resolve the situation professionally, acknowledge the missing drink, or handle the concern with customer service in mind. Mistakes happen in restaurants. Slow service happens. But poor management and dismissive treatment toward customers is what really leaves a bad impression. Very disappointing experience overall, especially for a place we've supported regularly with large group meetings. read more

We enjoyed dinner on the outside patio during happy hour and enjoyed a couple of their $7.00 offerings. I ordered off the regular menu and had a huge plate of their Cajun Chicken pasta with mushrooms and bacon. So delicious and full of flavor. Out of the many locations, the Lager House is bright and colorful I enjoy all of the State 48 locations. Each one is big, open and has good patio space. The Lager House location on Hayden in Scottsdale is on the traffic circle by the Harley Davidson and GO AZ Motorcycle shops. This makes for more traffic noise but also an interesting bustling car and motorcycle watching spot. Also, not only does it have a large patio, but it is a double story. Pictured food is the pretzels with beer cheese and the beer cheese burger. I figured this would be the place to get good beer cheese! They obviously have beer but also some great cocktails. We pop in here on occasion and it never disappoints! Even when I was pregnant, the bartender was so awesome in coming up with some non-alcoholic drinks for me. The awesome part is the Manager said the King private room was available so I sat there at no extra charge which I really liked imagining I was a medieval King. I had their signature Reuben which was hot and delicious best I've had in Arizona. Eric recommended the German Oktoberfest dark beer which was fantastic. The fries and tator tots are also great. I ordered an appetizer of macaroni and cheese, a hamburger with an extra patty, a raspberry beer that was recommended, and deep-fried Oreos with ice cream. The food was very good, however, I ordered hamburger A, medium-rare, and out came hamburger B, medium-well. I did indicate the wrong burger had been brought out, said nothing about the cooking, but did say that it was delicious and I was okay with this burger instead of the one I'd ordered. They cost the same, so it didn't seen worthwhile to get worked up over it. The waitress, Skye, was excellent. She apologized and said she was at fault, when I said I'd just eat this burger and that it was tasty, she offered to bring out the missing components (bacon, deep-fried pickles). Wow, okay! She brought bacon and regular bread and butter pickles. Oh well. All in all, yes, I've seen the heath inspection report but haven't had any ill effects from the food, everything was tasty, even the surprise burger!
