I've been going to Waltham Nails & Spa for years and they've always done an amazing job. Lee used to do my acrylics when I got them and always did an amazing job. Today, I saw Tracy for the first time and was going to get my normal gel - after chatting with her about my job as a bartender, she suggested I try dip since they can be more durable especially with me constantly washing my hands. I have been doing dip nails for a couple of years now, as it's the only thing I've found that prevents me from nervously picking my cuticles so bad that they bleed - a way my anxiety manifests that has been difficult to control. They have SO MANY colors to choose from, and the finished product is great. The salon is very clean and they use cleaned/sterilized equipment for each customer. Got gel nails done, it was done really fast (in and out in 30 minutes) but wasn't really impressed with the work. I didn't get the name of the tech (we sat at the first table by the register and is left-handed) but she didn't fully paint my nail (I can see my actual nail on the sides of most nails) and the edges weren't clean/straight and then she put way too much top coat that my nails bulge unevenly, esp my pinky nail which looks misshaped and curvy lol I tried to take pictures to show the curvature but I know it's not my nail shape bc I've had gel nails done for the last 5 years and I've never seen my pinky look so weird. From far away it doesn't look terrible but I'm definitely picky about the basics like painting edge to edge and having a even edge.. Also, this isn't a huge deal breaker for me bc I've gone to other salons where they don't even have an autoclave, but the technician took tools out of an unsealed pouch (aka no fold on the pouch on the ends as it was never sealed and when she pulled it out of her drawer, there was no sound/motion of her pulling the tabs apart which is how you open pouches after sterilization on the other end) so not sure why they bother, felt a little sketchy. Read another review before mentioning another autoclave incident so I don't think this was a one-time thing so just FYI if you're big on sterilized, autoclave tools only. Not sure if I'll be back but probably only with different technician ‍ read more

Went with a friend both for a dip manicure. It was pretty busy but we had an appointment. They have a good selection of colors. I was disappointed though that the cuticles were not done and none of my hang nails were taken off. It's something I look forward to when getting my nails done. I originally thought it was just the service that I asked for, but my friend who got the same manicure got her cuticles cut and hangnails trimmed as part of her base service. The overall quality of the polish is really good, just disappointed our care was not consistent for both my friend and I. read more

Solid nail salon! I don't often get my nails done but whenever I did, I use to be very loyal to another salon until they changed management and it didn't feel the same anymore. I was in the mood and wanted to treat myself so I checked yelp for the closest location to me at the time, and literally just did Russian roulette with the nail salons in the area. There are as many as 20 salons within 5 miles in the Waltham area and I'm glad I picked this one! The area of Waltham and the salon is like night and day. So don't judge a book by its cover. It is really nice inside. I love the interior design and they make it work with the small space they have. The best part is parking! It can be a bit tight but it is a plus! I went with the basic gel manicure and classic pedicure. If I wasn't on a time crunch, I would have been interested in doing the signature pedicure next time. They take walk ins and I appreciated that they saw me so quickly but they are so busy, I do recommend to make an appointment in case. Love my nails. Went in around 3:30pm and got out around 4:20pm. Even thought it was busy the nail technician took her time to make sure my nails looked perfect. I never felt rushed. Can't wait to go back again. read more

I just moved to Waltham and needed to find a nail salon. A friend in my complex recommended Waltham Nails and Spa, so I made an appointment. My appointment was at 4:30 for a regular manicure. When I walked in at like 4:25, I was astonished by the amount of options for polish and the dip powder! I was interested in talking to my technician about possibly trying the dip powder in the future(since my appointment was only for a regular manicure.) When I arrived, they told me to pick a polish and they'd be with me soon. At 4:45, I was still waiting and was beginning to feel frustrated. A woman came in who had a 4:45 appointment. At 4:50, an employee invited me to sit down at a pedicure station while I was waiting. I had been standing the whole time because another woman was on the one chair and nobody had really acknowledged my presence aside from when I checked in. At 4:55, the woman who had a 4:45 appointment was taken for her manicure. By this point, I decided that I was going to leave. I told the woman who had checked me in and she said that it was because the client before me showed up late and the woman with the appointment after me had requested a specific technician, so that's why she got to go first. I was a new client so I obviously didn't request anyone since I didn't know anyone. She apologized, but she mainly blamed it on the client who was late who was scheduled before me. I understand that people can be late, but I expected the salon to be more apologetic or offer to book me an appointment for another time or even offer a discount off of a service in the future, but they didn't do any of that. When you make an appointment at this salon and then confirm it, you get a text saying to please be respectful of your technician's time and to call if you need to cancel. When I came in for my appointment on time, nobody told me that I'd be waiting for a while because they were behind. If I'm respectful of my technician's time, I expect my technician to be respectful of my time too. I'm sure other people have amazing experiences here! Their variety of polishes and powders truly seemed incredible, I just wish I had a better experience. read more

They do a pretty good job at SNS dip powder. The manicure service could improve to make it a more relaxing experience . The parafilm is offered at an extra charge where in other places it's included on the manicure service. I went with the parafilm and it was left a for a few minutes while my toe nails dried but the tech forgot to take it out and didn't finish off the manicure the way I expected to be by adding a bit of lotion and doing a quick little massage... just a suggestion. Every woman loves to be pampered and doing a quick little hand massage would have been nice. Overall great service! I went to this salon for a pedicure. My pedicure was done by Emily who was lovely and did a wonderful job. The salon was clean though they did not do temperature checks or ask any covid-related questions unlike some of the other salons I've been to. They did, however, clean and sanitize the areas between customers. Many of the nail polishes I had to select from were old and clearly dried up which was a slight disappointment. The owner/manager was an intimidating woman who gave me a hard time because she preferred cash payment. The whole checkout process was a complete debacle because she was so against her customers paying with credit card (because she'd likely have a small fee charged for credit card transactions I presume). This may be standard of all businesses yet I've never had anyone give me as hard of a time as she did. I don't walk around with $40 of cash on me, nor do I know many people who do these days, and she was so particular and turned this into a huge, unnecessary scene. She needs to prioritize the convenience of her customers over the inconvenience of her credit card transaction fees. read more

I am in the city on assignment. I get dip nails regularly. Hannah is awesome! She gives you what you ask for with a great attitude. My job is very hands on and hard on my nails. Because of this I prefer my dip thicker to avoid chips and cracks. Hannah delivers. She shapes my nails beautifully. She really takes pride in her manicures. She never rushes. Super lovely staff offering a good range of services. It is a very small salon and I realize just how spoiled I am with my salon back home! I visited here during a business trip and (for example) was hoping for massage chairs, but there were none. I found the service to be average, and inside the salon it was incredibly warm... the wall temperature said it was 74°! Note that if you pay by credit card they do charge a $2 fee. They claim you get a "discount" for paying with cash, but really you're paying the full amount advertised. I think I would try another salon if I was looking for one next time I'm in the area. read more

The entire service cost $45, which is comparable to the local area. The only thing that I felt was a negative was upon completion of the service I had to request to wash my hands. Had an appointment for a classic manicure. Showed up 5 minutes early to pick my color. There were about 5 people waiting when I got there. Not the biggest shop and it was drab inside. A woman who I am assuming was the salon manager and/or owner tried to up-sell me on a soft gel or dip manicure while waiting. (Been there, done that. The removal for both really messes up natural nails, so I don't do them unless I'm traveling.) This salon clearly overbooks and/or takes walk-ins in addition to not scheduling enough staff. While I was waiting, the manager laid down a towel at the checkout counter and started to do someone's nails there. People who walked in without appointments requesting more expensive services were taken before me. After 50 minutes of waiting, I walked out. Definitely do not recommend. read more

Honestly I am extraordinarily picky about how my nails are done and how they turn out and this place is probably one of the best bets in all of the greater Boston area. I seldom take the time to write a review but this warrants one. The technician was so incredibly particular, very neat and did such a thorough job that almost 4 weeks later, my gel is still not lifting from a single finger nail. Usually by this time I'm used to the gels peeling off or lifting off at the bottom but this might be my longest lasting manicure of all times. I made a 9:30a appt in advance and confirmed- received text asking me to "respect [their] time" and let them know if I need to cancel but zero respect was shown for my time when it was 9:45a and the door was still locked. And I can understand running late but you people were actually in there just ignoring the door.. Edited to add: Nice story bro. You're implying I don't know how doors work instead of owning you (or your staff) made a mistake. I arrived 15mins early and was parked directly in front until 9:45 and no one ever unlocked the door or fully raised the blinds. Save the patronizing bs. read more

I've never been a huge fan of pedicures, but this one was terrible. The woman ripped open my toe with her Emory board and then kept going and kept putting products on my open wound. The nails don't even look very good. I regret going here. Update: I contacted the salon and they did give me a refund for the pedicure. I hate feeling like I need to write this review, but I had a rough and painful manicure at this salon yesterday. The technician used a drill / drill head to do my ... cuticles? He left me with 4 cuticles that were bleeding and today they are scabbed over. It will take weeks if not months for my fingers to recover. The dip itself was so spotty. The color didn't cover my entire nail, and he filed the tips so they were missing color at the tips. I will name that the salon didn't end up charging me for this manicure, which was fair, however, I truly feel that this technician is dangerous and should not be providing services. read more
