Before I begin this review I want to make it clear that this is a review exclusively about technique and detail. Svetlana as an individual is great and sweet. Over the last few months I've continued seeing Svetlana exclusively for my waxing needs and we've discussed inconsistencies with my leg and Brazilian waxing. There have also been a few issues with sugaring my bikini area. On one occasion the sugaring was so rough and painful the skin was ripped off my bikini area (I decided no more sugaring after that ordeal) and my legs have had leftover hairs time and time again. Svetlana informed me that it's common when you start waxing again and once you've done it for roughly a year it will stop happening. It's been almost a year where I've exclusively waxed with her but there hasn't been a change. When I get home I'm still tweezing missed hair. I decided to ask her about it and she informed me that she doesn't have much experience with waxing my hair type. I was under the impression she did based on her many accolades. She was kind enough to recommend Natalia on JFK Street at another Skin Spa. If you have very fine/straight hair you won't have any problems when going here. But if your hair is curly or thick you may want to reconsider. Lastly, there have also been occasions where I've been accidentally overcharged for services. The first time I called her after noticing my bank statement and the second time I had to email her. The overcharged amount wasn't refunded but was applied to my next service. When i visited for my first consultation for facial, Svetlana examined my face, explained me the condition and recommended the correct treatment and products to follow upon. Went there last Wednesday to get a deep cleansing facial. It was my first time getting a facial ever and I didnt know quite what to expect - but after going there, I am glad I chose this place! This place is a breath of fresh air in the beauty industry! Being a member of the salon/spa industry, I frequently visit other venues. I checked out this place and decided to get a Brazilian wax. I was greeted by Anya at the door and was given a royal welcome. I explained to her that I was interested in waxing but had some questions about my skin being sensitive and being a bit of wuss when it comes to pain. Anya told me not to worry, that she is a professional, her methods will leave me hairless without irritation. She was right! I've never gotten a wax that left me so smooth and without any red bumps! She definitely knew what she was doing. Did it hurt? Of course it did... but she taught me a breathing exercise that helped me get through it with minimal pain. I've been visiting A-Skin Care Salon for a year now and if I could help it, I'd never go anywhere again for a brazilian, facial or eyebrow treatment. Svetlana is absolutely THE BEST and at the top of her field both in technique and aesthetics. Her Brazilian/bikini waxing is replete with skin care advice on how to maintain the health of such a delicate area and she is quick and virtually painless. In the same respect, her facials are not just about restoring your skin to health, they are about how to maintain that fresh and healthy look outside of the salon. And she sells custom made products that I have been using happily over the past year. Let her recommend some for you... On top of all that, she's an absolute artist when it comes to brows and will know how to shape them to complement your face. You can either tell her how you prefer to wear them, or let her own expertise take over. You won't be disappointed either way. And finally, she's incredibly sweet and fun! I got exactly what I paid for, which is a good thing! I tried the deep cleaning facial and all the steps stated on the website was exactly what I had done. It wasn't a life changing facial but it was definitely a quality one that renewed my skin. I am a dark-skin African with oily and acne prone skin and my face reacted well to all the products used during the facial and the samples given to me after for at home use. The only thing is the spf Svetlana ended off with left a white cast but she did give me a heads up about that, which I appreciated. It has been 3 weeks since I got sugaring done for my Brazilian wax and armpits and regular wax of my full legs and I am just starting to see few hairs pop up here and there. Where to begin... Svetlana is amazing. Having just moved to the area, and having NEVER been to a skin care salon, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I chose quite a few things off of her available services including wax, and needless to say, having never been down that road before, I had my reservations, and was pretty skittish. Svetlana immediately put me at ease, and while the process wasn't completely painless, it was no where near what I'd been expecting. She also is very knowledgeable, and takes the time to answer a million and one questions, which is important for someone like myself who had never thought they'd be doing something like this. She is very kind, and her prices are very reasonable. While I am heading back to Florida soon, I will continue to order her products as everything she's suggested has worked tremendously, and if, as I hope, I make it back up here permanently in about six months, well, she's got herself a life long customer. I love to be surprised.... My wife and I were in town for a conference. For various reasons, we both felt we needed manicures and pedicures, and I needed some waxing done. A tall order at the last minute! A phone call later, and we were set with a spa afternoon with Svetlana at A-1. Please don't be put off by the environment - the spa is in a home. A much more inviting atmosphere, we realized, than a strip mall salon. Where else could you spend an afternoon sipping homemade hibiscus tea (tip: eat the flower! it's yummy), and nibble on Lindt chocolate while getting pampered? We spent an extremely enjoyable afternoon with a wonderfully pleasant woman who was as interesting to talk to as she was skilled in her profession. I've been coming to A-Skin care salon for years and have always been happy with the services and advice I received. Both Sveta and Anya are really good at what they do. Facials (and pre-facial massage), waxing, eyebrow styling - I used all of these treatments and always feel refreshed and looking better than before I came in. Their after-facial masks sooth my skin so that I look presentable even after deep cleaning. Not only I myself benefit from their expertise and experience, so do both of my children. Adolescence is not gentle on the skin but Sveta and Anya helped make that transition smoother preventing breakouts and flareups with their treatments, products and suggestions for follow up care. I was pleasantly surprised by how fast I was able to set up my appointment for a deep extraction facial, Svetlana helped me and she was very flexible and willing to work around my schedule. I have very oily acne prone skin and had a lot of build up around my nose and chin areas. Although extractions can be a little painful, Svetlana took her time prepping my skin gently and the whole process was very relaxing. After the extraction she applied a mask on my face that was very soothing and left my skin smooth and feeling brand new. I also received a complimentary four days worth of products to calm my skin down and avoid breakouts. In addition to that, Svetlana offered a free 15 minute consultation five days after the facial to make sure my skin was responding to the treatment and products. I have to say... going to Svetlana is one of the best things I've done for myself in a long time. My skin was feeling bad all around (irritated, oily, sensitive etc.). I got the deep cleaning facial and bought a bunch of product from her. Boom.. skin completely changed and it's never been so good. I got 2 face washes, day and night cream, toner, serum and a mask and they have truly been the best products I've ever used. I discovered Svetlana just before my wedding when i was looking for last minute help with my skin (acne scars, dryness, and blackheads..) and have now been seeing her just over 6 months for a variety of services. Like other reviewers have said she is AMAZING I personally have used her for: Brazilian Wax, Underarm Wax, Eyebrow wax & tweeze, Facial, Microdermabrasion and Collegen Treatments. She is so professional and makes you feel totally comfortable.
