This is a lovely local grocery store. I've been going to this store since I was little with my mom when they still had the location in Tinley Park. The staff is friendly, and their customer service is excellent. I had an issue with something, and Sheila was so very nice and accommodating. She deserves a raise! Do not believe what their hours are. My husband got there 10 minutes before they closed and the doors were locked. All he wanted was a package of chicken breasts. He drove to Jewel in Dyer and bought a package of chicken breasts under 10 minutes. Walt's to us is just a garbage grocery store. read more

Let me just stipulate...I typically shop M-F...I encounter nice, helpful employees I made the mistake I shopping on a Sunday...UGH! What a mistake!!! The cashier, Lynette, was BEYOND RUDE! Oh my goodness!!! If you're having a bad day, it probably is NOT my fault. YOUR rudeness is enough to drive away customers...YIKES! I shop at Walts in dyer its near my home. Yesterday I ran in to get a few essentials. I was concerned as I shopped that I would see an individual with NO MASK ON. When I went to check out the man in the lane next to me had no mask, The man in front of me had no mask. When it was my turn I asked the cashier "Arn't mask Mandatoury she said only for the employees. Excuse me but a mask prevents you from giving me the virus,. Believe me I get no pleasure about trashing this store again but this location is just getting worse and worse. Today stopped by deli an employee was loading the deli case. Can't believe she thought it was appropriate to set the tube of meat on the floor. Yes the floor customers and employees have been walking all over why wld she think I want what every people walked in on my lunch meat. If thing are not bad enough I stopped at the service area to share what I saw w them. The lady behind the counter looked at me twice but never acknowledged I was there. Could she not have smiled, nod her head, said I'll be right with you. She puts ham in a small plastic bag push's it at me Rings up pop puts them in plastic bags. All good no way: I ask Caitlin can I have a small paper bag for ham. Her answer we don't have any. I turn around get a small bag from check out behind me. I say to her I guess they did not give u any. Wrong they are right there. This is my ritual. Get up at 630am on a Saturday morning. Out the door at 645 and onto Walt's in Dyer. They open at 7am and I like to be one of the first people in the store. This is a great store. Not so big as to get totally overwhelmed but not so small as to have nothing your looking for. It's just right. The store is always very clean and the employees are friendly. Every Saturday when I go to the fruit and veggie section, the lady stocking always smile and gives me a cheerful good morning. There's also the butcher. An older guy who cracks jokes and occasionally breaks out in a song. He always acknowledges the customer. I don't mind spending my money in this type of environment. They also have great weekly deals. read more

I've been shopping at this Walts for 2 years and I love it. The produce is fresh, the butchers are very friendly and helpful and will slice up my meat according to my recipe. I got dizzy on one occasion and dropped a bottle with liquid. They immediately came to ask if I were ok. They cleaned up the mess and went and got another item for me. The cashiers are always friendly. The only problem I've had has been with one of the young ladies in the bakery who is not very friendly. But overall the staff is friendly and helpful and there is a nice supply of everything I need for dinner and special events. read more

They bait you in. Last week it was organic ground beef, butcher told me it never came in. That was on Wednesday. This week it's lamb, never came in, and that was on Friday. Then last week I go up to a check out line where there were no customers. The clerk was bagging for the employee next to her, never acknowledges me, the young woman who was working the service desk walks by like a zombie, doesn't say anything so I put my groceries back in my cart and went to the next check out. Today, the clerk who checked me out had her mask below her nose, and then when she talked to an employee working at the register next to her she took the mask totally down. I want all to know that when it comes to Turkey Brats I have tried two separate months to buy them when they were advertised in the sales ad only to find they never came in. They sent me all around the store to find them in different places only to admit they were never in. No sign was put up to inform shoppers. This happens with several items with each sales ad. This is a bait-n-switch. Putting items in an ad to get you in and not producing the item. NOT HOW TO DO GOOD BUSINESS! Go back to what works "truth in advertisement". read more

I purchased five packages of baby back ribs on Thursday July 12. We planned on using them today. When we opened them today all of the five packages were bad, they had a very strong bad smell. The register numbers are #9506-002, Inv#00093242 Trs#093843. I returned today, Sunday July 15 at 1:30pm and went to customer service and explained the problem and gave the receipt,the employee, a woman, then asked for the packages and if they were in the original packages with the price tags. I said yes. She never smiled at all. It appeared that I was bothering her. I had to travel from my home in Scherererville, not able to make the ribs that we wanted and then had to deal with her. The five packages were $4.57, $4.60, $4.02, $4.99 and $5.05 which I totaled to $23.23. She gave me $13.43 not $23.23. I walked away for a minute then returned. She said it was correct but after she looked at the return tape, which I never received a copy of, she noticed that she entered a positive $4.99 so she gave me the $4.99 also which brought the total refund to $18.42. Again I came back and complained. Once again she seemed irritated and walked to the other side and used a calculator which she totaled all five packages to $23.23 exactly what I told her. She came back and still insisted it was right. She said that she entered the refunds into the register so it was right. Again I said NO it is not correct. Also I said that I saw the $23.23 on the calculator. Then I received the correct amount. When she entered the positive$4.99 she needed to enter two negative $4.99's to correct her error. I entered the store upset and after dealing with her for around 15 min I was more upset!! I went to the meat counter to buy some replacements for the ribs and met I terrific young man named Aubrey. He was very polite, had a great smile and delivered great customer service. Not military friendly. Store management not concerned about federal laws regarding miltary service. Son worked here for 8 yrs, went to national guard duty..came back to work to be punished for being "off" on military duty. Two months in a row. We can sue them, but yelp review is probably the better choice. read more

It's a nice little grocery store. I go here for their fried chicken, our family loves it. I always pick up odds and ends I might need when picking up chicken. Will catch occasionally good sales on their frozen shrimp and meats. It reminds me of a mom and pop supermarket. Clean and nice employees. read more

First off- I wish I could comment without giving them ANY STARS- but that was not an option...I shopped with them on 4/3 and purchased $130 worth of food. Within that purchase was 3 trays/packages of chicken. Our plan was to Barbq for the kids as my step kids are here for spring break from GA. Well, Monday evening when I get in and open my frig the smell from the chicken was AWEFUL!! The chicken was SPOILED within 24 hours! Because of my work schl and my daughters AAU Schl I was not able to get it back to them before I was forced to throw it out this morning! I did call the store to make them aware of my purchase and what happened with the chicken- But due to my schl I was not able to stop in before Thursday- But disposed of the chicken because I could not longer take the smell. They asked me if I could Freeze it and bring it when I could to get a refund. I explained that I would never put rotten chicken in my freezer and just wanted to make them aware of my experience. I was told they would let the meat manager know. Needless to say, I will NEVER shop with them again- Ill take that drive to Jewel. All I can think is...What if I had cooked that chicken and my family got SICK! The WORST!!!!!!!!!! read more
