    Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure

Keeping with tradition I got the Walt's 1939 cheesesteak. It came with wiz, bell peppers and fried onions. I am not a wiz guy and I prefer roasted or sweet peppers to bell peppers. The wiz was on the roll. I liked it there much better than poured/squeezed/ladled on top. The bell peppers didn't take away from the cheesesteak. Nice roll. Maybe Conshohocken bakery. I did ask but they have different roll suppliers and the phones started to ring so I did not want to take up any more of the counter person's time. She was a wonderful and helpful person.

Pleasantly surprised. I ride by this spot often but decided to order as I didn't feel like cooking. It was a long short holiday week. Ordered the chicken cheese steak special - half a steak, fries and a soda. Such a good deal. Also ordered a small pepperoni pizza for lunch tomorrow. Don't judge me. I like warmed up pizza. Tasted a slice and it was pretty good. Also love that I ordered and when I arrived my food was done and ready. It's the little things.

A little light on the steak :(

This was one of my favorite spots a few years ago when I moved here. They closed and remodeled which was desperately needed. The new restaurant is huge and beautiful with plenty of seating. The prices went up which I expected so we didn't come as much. Ordered a cheesesteak with provolone and fried onions and the sandwich was really light on the steak. When i opened the sandwich there was too much empty space for me ESP if I see the bread. It's just ok and would be better if they were generous w the meat Will I be back? Not sure

Super disappointed. I used to get steaks here regularly 30 years ago and I had many great steaks. This just sucked. The meat was good but the roll was toasted and burnt. The fries were literally cold??? The strawberry shake was good but $6.95 for real?? It looks dingy. And tired. I went out of my way and I left pissed. Don't bother.

Walts in Clifton Heights has a reputation of making one of the best cheese steaks in the area. (Saying they are one of the best in Delco would not be much of a compliment as I've not been impressed with cheese steaks locally since I arrived here seven years ago.) The fact they have been in business since 1939 might have something to do with it. The restaurant has come a long way since then. The recently completed renovations have left a bright, inviting and large dining room to enjoy your meal. The place was quiet when I arrived at 6PM today. Was greeted at the counter by a helpful young lady happy to take my order. I grabbed a bottle of Walts Own Black Cherry soda to drink and ordered a Pizza Steak. It didn't take long for the sandwich to arrive. I should have paid closer attention to Top Yelpers Steve S and Jim H and NOT ordered the larger size. The pizza steak was huge - overflowing with meat. Way too much for one person. It is chopped up steak which to me hides a multitude of sins. It tasted average at best and was much greasier than I like. The provolone cheese was ok. The sauce was spaghetti sauce - not pizza sauce. The roll was good. I was not impressed. Compared to John's Roast Pork or Steves in Philly, it falls way short. The search for a great pizza steak in Delco will go on. Walts isn't it.

A down-to-earth watering hole. Cozy, even. I loved our table, a nice high-top in the corner. I guess my only complaint is that it took a little while to be seated. It was Sunday night dinner rush, L get it, but I waited by the door long enough to wonder whether anyone was going to notice me. But it was worth the wait. For a place that comes off as a bar, the meal they served me checked all the boxes -- oysters from the raw bar first, then a tender New York strip, with a generous side of Jack Daniels. Everything was perfect. Our server Jake was a real pro, the best. You could tell they were all a great team. When a drink I ordered appeared on the bar but had not yet been delivered, someone stepped up and brought it to me. Service! Something that surprised me. Though I was totally into my dinner, looking around, it struck me that the place looked exceptionally clean. I mean, excceptional, something they should be proud of. But above all, I could not have enjoyed the food more. The oysters, excellent. So good I ordered a second dozen for desert. An entirely enjoyable and satisfying experience. You'll find it worth your while.

My husband liked a beer and would've gotten a second one, but the waitress never made it back to us at that point. I, of course, came to a brewery and ordered their apple cider margarita. There was a lot of ice. Too much ice. Not much drink. Didn't hurt that much because the drink was just ok. My kids crushed the pretzel. It was huge and my one kid discovered a love of cheese along with it. My spouse got the Cuban, which is a little dry, but pretty in line with Cuban expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed the pickle burger with double patties, enough meat that I also shared bit of it with the kids. My kid dipped the patty in the pretzel cheese. My spouse had read that it took a while for food to come out, but it came out pretty speedy for us. We also ordered the crab dip, but it came out at the same time as our main course so we didn't eat much. Taking that sucker home. Besides the pretzel, the variety of spaces here are the main highlight. Again, disclaimer being this is coming from someone who didn't come to a brewery to drink beer.

Unassuming from the outside, far more inviting once you enter -- my favorite detail, the black-and- white checkered floor. Classic. The warmth of the manager was apparent right away. We got the booth we wanted, off to a good start. Basic breakfast order, no fuss, server took down all the details. When it comes to my bacon, I prefer crisp - and it was perfect, honestly. Coffee, big mug, hot, robust. My meal did not disappoint in the slightest. Generous serving of potatoes with my eggs (I suggest asking for onions, again, perfect). Except ... My toast. I had to wait for my toast while my breakfast sat. I've been to *many* diners in my life, not the first time I've experienced this, it happens ... but the amount of time I waited for it to come, seemed to suggest there had been an oversight. And I guess that ties into the strongest negative I might mention. There were intervals of waiting that threw off the rhythm of how a diner operates. I needed water my partner needed a refill ... and for a while it seemed like the only way that could happen is if I got up, went to the counter and asked for it. (Not alone in this. A nearby table did exactly that to get what they needed.) Easy fixes, not that big a deal. My first suggestion: Have a big pitcher of water on ice ready at all times. When you see a glass low, go for it. Simple, the mark of a pro. Listen -- I love diners, can't get enough, the more around my neighborhood the better. When we told our server we'd be back, we meant it. Especially for the gelato! Homemade! The sample I tasted, delectable. We all have room for improvement, so no harm no foul. I really need to try dinner at the Delco Diner -- BYOB, c'mon. Support these folks, they're great.

The dining room is beautifully decorated--perfectly lit for an evening meal with warm, cozy candlelit tables. The seating is spaced comfortably apart, allowing for private conversation, especially on a night that isn't overly crowded. It's an ideal spot for date night. The restaurant is BYOB, and I noticed they also offer mocktails on the menu. We began with soup. The lobster bisque was savory and flavorful, featuring a plump piece of lobster in the center. The New England clam chowder was also thoroughly enjoyed. There's a wide selection of entrées, and we appreciated the recommendations on the most popular dishes. In addition to steak, poultry, and seafood, the menu also includes a section dedicated to vegan entrées. I ordered the lump crab cake as my entrée, and we also had the fried red snapper. Although the crab cake was lump rather than jumbo lump, it was well seasoned and not overloaded with filler. It was generously sized, filling, and served with a citrus remoulade that complemented it nicely. The whole red snapper was a generous market-priced portion, perfectly coated and fried. The fish was moist, flavorful, and cooked just right--not overdone. Each entrée is thoughtfully garnished; the red snapper was served with fried plantain and mango salsa, which paired beautifully. Sides are served à la carte. We chose the lobster mac and cheese and sautéed spinach. We also ordered the calamari a bit later but enjoyed it before our entrées arrived. It was crispy and drizzled with a sauce that balanced sweetness with a subtle kick of heat. The lobster mac and cheese featured pasta (think it was cavatappi) in a rich, creamy cheese like gouda, topped with a generous piece of lobster. The sautéed spinach was lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly, complementing the meal well. Overall, the dishes were well balanced and full of flavor. We didn't have room for dessert this time, but on our next visit I'd love to try either the butter cake or the bread pudding

It appears on first glance when going inside that it used to be some other place but I am not sure what, and when we were there it seemed that it was empty. Like devoid of people whatsoever. There was our server, and I'm not sure if someone was even in the kitchen, but there had to be because our order was being prepared by someone. This is actually good, because that morning was a dragging one and having it nice and quiet with almost not distraction was absolutely wonderful! What I like about B&B is also what kind of sets it back just a bit, but I think this place is on the rise, and as it gains popularity, this will start to be talked about around southeast Delco and definitely and up a go-to spot. There are complaints in some of the reviews here that the food is "underseasoned" which is something that I would like to argue wholeheartedly. Breakfast is very subjective; especially standard American breakfast staples like omelets, eggs and bacon platters, waffles. However, that is where the underuse of season here is actually a smart strategy. Most of these dishes would be seasoned with salt, pepper, or by some, butter or hot sauce. All these items are readily available and placed on the table in food quantity so that the diner can easily bring their meal to the exact taste that they enjoy. In doing this thought, nothing really shines here. It is all very good, but nothing it really unique. And that is good thing especially when you are looking for a place to enjoy breakfast that's a down-home style meal and you don't want to have to cook. I will definitely be back again for another homestyle breakfast in the future, and the prices are more than reasonable. If you live in the area this is a great place to frequent for a breakfast you would make yourself or would expect to have if you stopped home for the day.
