I had just the nicest time at the Broadway Bar and Grill. First, I love the location -- a genuine Philly outskirts neighborhood sense of place. Locals, families, sports fans. A down-to-earth watering hole. Cozy, even. I loved our table, a nice high-top in the corner. I guess my only complaint is that it took a little while to be seated. It was Sunday night dinner rush, L get it, but I waited by the door long enough to wonder whether anyone was going to notice me. But it was worth the wait. For a place that comes off as a bar, the meal they served me checked all the boxes -- oysters from the raw bar first, then a tender New York strip, with a generous side of Jack Daniels. Everything was perfect. Our server Jake was a real pro, the best. You could tell they were all a great team. When a drink I ordered appeared on the bar but had not yet been delivered, someone stepped up and brought it to me. Service! Something that surprised me. Though I was totally into my dinner, looking around, it struck me that the place looked exceptionally clean. I mean, excceptional, something they should be proud of. I am only leaving a two star because the food is always good! However, I have been there 3 times so far and it is the worst service! Ordered drinks and food all together yesterday knowing how long it will take and didn't get the drinks for about 25 minutes. Every time we come here, we just sit, without service or we order food and we just sit and wait. No one to check on us, and once they serve the food, you won't see them again before the check. I get they are busy, but they need to work on service. I typically go to the clam tavern and I have zero issues there. I end up there when we can't get in. read more

This place was my favorite in the area when I lived in Westbrook Park. Unfortunately it's so beholden to Clam Tavern (Same owner, nextdoor). I'm allergic to seafood. Clam Tavern cannibalizes this place so bad. From staff to patrons to the menu. The ambience is sports pub but has a half assed fine dining area. It can't fully commit and I suspect that is for Clam Tavern overflow. The last time I went here it was an late afternoon. We ordered beers, finished them...and after twenty plus minutes of no one even coming on the floor I put a ten on the table and we left. Visit late July 2019. This place is owned by the across the street owner of the Clam Tavern. SORRY, But it's not as good. I know they do this in the city due to Space limitations but it's not often done in the burbs - I was greeted with "would you like to sit at the bar or a hightop in the bar? Keep in mind there were at least 6 empty tables at 7pm on a weeknight. I told her no and then thought to myself " !m coming in here to get a decent meal and service after a long day just like the already seated patrons". She didn't hide her displeasure at my answer. Got worse from there ... I had to call my server over twice and another server when mine was nowhere to be found, to get additional items. So I waited 15 minutes for sauce to make my veal Parm less dry. By then it was cold. And this veal Parm with spaghetti is not cheap. It was $25.99 !! Broadway staff need to know why we go out to eat. People need to feel good about going out. I didn't feel like cooking so I'm ok with paying for the convenience of someone cooking for me. I have a right to have the same services and the same meal as everyone else. My check was a hefty $49 for 1 person. The same it would have been for 2 frugal diners. Im sure the 2 diners would've been fawned over vs me the solo who was ignored. I've been a fan of the owners other store 50 feet away called the clam Tavern. Been going there 40 years and I'm always treated well there. I think I'll just keep my business there. read more

Yoooooo...... This place is good! We were sent across the street from The Original Clam Tavern because we didn't have a reservation and would have had to wait 2 hours. Same owners... similar menu..... Everything was absolutely delicious. We started with the crab balls and chicken cheesesteak egg rolls. The crab balls were flavorful, but the egg rolls were unbelievable. Chunky chicken breast, onions, cheese and peppers served with a side of spicy ketchup. I could live off of those. For entrees, my lady had the crab cake, and I had the stuffed shrimp. The crab cakes had hardly any filler, and the stuffed shrimp were covered in a light blush sauce that was out of this world. Finally, the service. Taylor was friendly, and efficient. There when we needed her. Can't wait to come back. read more

Joshua our bartender was great. We decided to stop here before heading to the Clam Tavern. Wasn't really a celebration was trying to cheer up a grieving friend. He gave her sincere attention and time. Drinks were great. He made recommendations. They can make anything the Clam Tavern can make. Get the baked clams they are awesome. Made reservations for dinner for 4 on Saturday 3/19. Three days of confusion calling to confirm reservation. Dinner for 4 was fish and steaks. Fish was great..."NY Strip" steaks were anything but. Waitress forgot the optional onions/mushrooms but were brought over mid dinner. After coffee/dessert the manager? lady came over and asked us to relieve the table for waiting patrons. It was my idea to revisit the Broadway after a Covid hiatus and thus ruined the evening with visiting friends. read more

I've never reviewed The Clam, b/c frankly, they're sooo good they don't really need my little review. But i JUST found out that The Broadway, which is often less crowded, serves BOTH menus. So HOW can you go wrong? Answer: You CAN'T. If you're on a 1st date, or a special one, you might want to go to The Clam (NOT that it's fancy, it's NOT), as it's a little more formal. But if you're up for a casual night, The Broadway Bar & Grill is PERFECT! And you MUST try the Parmesan Crusted Chicken, it's positively To Die For! The wedge salad w/Russian dressing & crispy bacon & the chili are WINNERS, too. I don't think you can go wrong here. Great menu, great food. read more

I've wanted to go check this place out for sometime now, and glad we did we were looking someplace close to have raw oyster. This place fit the bill, the food was excellent ,service was great! I guess my only criticism would be the order to which our food came out we would have like the oysters to have come out sooner the some of our other food items. That being said it's not the kitchen or servers fault as we ordered mostly appetizers and my wife ordered an entree.my order was the Mussels and Manhattan clam chowder. On the recommendation of a friend my boyfriend and i tried this place out. I'm not the biggest fan of hanging out in clifton but this place was very good. We went on a Sunday night and they were dead so we lucked out. We got great service and the food was good. I got a chicken quesadilla and side of Mac and cheese. Wow the side could have been a meal in it self for 4 bucks. They menu is more of a sandwich shop with some crazy specials and some clams since it's the same owner as the restaurant across the street. I image this places gets lots of overflow business from the clam. I heard the waitress say they are going to have live music soon starting around 6. I think that is all i can remember. Sooooooo excited to have a new fave place in Philly. We were about to go next door for dinner to the Clam house when we noticed that this place was owned by the same people and had good options outside of seafood. We walked in, and the waitress we got was so nice. She told us the special of the blackened shrimp nachos and we were like YES PLEASE. Best thing we have had in while. That should not be on special, it should be a menu staple. We also ordered drinks. I haven't had a French Martini since I moved out of Philly 4 years ago and this one was strong and good and BIG. My boyfriend got the punch and he finished it.... again... it was big. I got the chicken cutlet sandwich and he got the meatball sub, both with fries. You could look at the meatballs and tell they were hand rolled daily with lots of seasonings. The chicken cutlet was crispy yet still juicy. Fries were great. Service was great. And sooooooo much food and drinks for our money. We barely Made it through half of the food but we had plenty for midnight snacks! We will definitely come back. read more

My husband and I were there about 2 weeks ago. Always had a nice time, but this time was so different. A Friday night at about 4:15, place was empty, but the staff was very hesitant on giving us a high top table. Ordered a cosmopolitan, which was awful! (I guess new bartender) At end of meal, about 5:20, asked for cheesecake and cup of coffee - ?manager looked right at me, hesitated, then said she'd have to brew a pot, almost as if hoping I'd change my mind. Got the cheesecake. After waiting about 15 minutes (how long does it take to make coffee?), I said to forget the coffee. Oh, and we have been there on several other occasions on Fridays with others and there was always happy hour. This day we were told there is no more happy hour on Fridays, only Tuesday thru Thursday. I've been here a couple of times over the past few years and the food and service have always been good. This past time I went with a few friends to have some drinks and dinner for me. It was a late dinner for me at 9:00 on a Saturday night and I was pretty hungry when we arrived. We sat at the bar and I asked for a menu first thing. Started out with the Shrimp Lejoh they were diclinous, really you can put bacon around anything and I would like it but the shrimp were nice and fresh. Then I had the Italian Roast Beef sandwich comes with sautéed spinach and sharp provolone. It came on a long roll and I didn't expect that it was a big excellent sandwich. Also this place has a good beer selection. No offence to Clifton, I'm a Darby guy but this place doesn't seem to be a Clifton type bar. I'm a fan of The Broadway. The food is good, the prices are decent and the atmosphere is VERY welcoming. Goes well with the owner! Many times he comes into the dining/bar area and greets guests. Very friendly. The staff knows how to take care of you. They could use a few more varieties behind the bar but, chances are they can make whatever you order.
