I'm going to try the matcha next, but the ube with espresso was excellent. Friendly, fairly quick service, cute Eugene vibe shop. If I wanted to hang out at a coffee shop, this would be the place, I love ube, and it's not a common flavor. They do it, and they do an exceptional job with it. Definitely looking forward to trying other drinks in the future. Check them out if you're near the 5th st public market.

Not only did we use Yelp but we backed up our decision with a google search and that took us to Reddit. Equiano was a top suggestion on both sites. And we understand why. The service was 100% top notch. Helpful. Friendly and knowledgeable, not only about what they offered but about the regions best shops! The coffee itself was very expressive. The Camaroon was totally my style with an earthier tone and the Chai was delightful. The outdoor seating was so very comfortable with a unique sort of panache that I would love to have at my neighborhood coffeeshop. The raked gravel was a nice touch. And even though they didn't have indoor seating with the drizzly day, it was a highlight that I will be repeating in our future travels.

That's $8.75 for a small drink. The most I can find alternative milk costing per drink is $0.75 in town. Food portions are huge and so is the building surprisingly, so there's a pretty good amount of seating too (especially compared to other cafes in the area). The parking lot is a little narrow to navigate but I'm mostly grateful that they even have a lot. I think their tempeh is very delicious and flavorful, kind of a sweet maple-y vibe, and again, can't emphasize how big the size of everything was compared to my usual expectations. Their menu is pretty vegetarian friendly and they have pastries, breakfast options, smoothies etc. Price is on the higher side but I do think you get what you pay for. Also tried their seasonal lavender pistachio latte and the regular chai, both drinks were really nice. They don't have a huge variety of flavors in the coffee menu (2 house made syrups) but I was still happy with there being a fun seasonal option. It's decorated well and I love the tall ceilings. Would come again!

While I do not go to coffee shops to socialize, make friends, fit in with the hipsters (stopped in my teens) or see how many smiles I can get from employees, I do notice these things. I typically go to coffee shops in hopes of getting a consistently awesome buzz inducing caffeinated beverage. With that said, coffee has been my life for decades, and I can attest from experience that consistent, great coffee is hard to find anywhere in the world, let alone Eugene Oregon. So here's the short and sweet breakdown of my 2 stars. Coffee - 4 stars. It is consistently great coffee, and everything is organic which is awesome. I have had every caffeinated beverage on the menu many times over the past 2 or so years, and they are fairly consistently spot on. Food - 1 star. Not a fan. They churn out a good assortment of good looking items, but none have impressed me (or any of the guests I've brought along). Value - 3 stars. While organic and healthier than the average shop, you can easily spend $6-10 per trip here if you get food/pastry and a drink. Service - 2 stars, and that's for the the one dude who is typically works mornings, musters up a smile, strikes conversation and does his job well. I don't know his name, but THAT guy, whoever he is should train all the others to give a damn about the customers (other than the regulars). Those two stars are also for the cute chick who occasionally has days where she seems happy and actually smiles sometimes. Look, I don't care about how I'm treated so long as I'm not blatantly disrespected and the coffee is good, but like I said, I notice these things, I hear other people talk, and the reason I've stopped going here and am now saving about $100/mo (which pains me because the coffee really is amazing), is this: -In the morning, afternoon, evening even, when trying to work or read etc, I don't particularly like hearing death metal screaming "die everyone" music. Fix this, and you'll retain more customers. -While being personable isn't my cup of tea either, be cool to your customers. You don't have to convince me you like me, or go "Dutch Bros" with the hospitality, but damn, I shouldn't consistently walk away wondering if I pissed you off during my 45 seconds to 5 minutes it took to order and receive my drink- this is especially true for the chicks there who are at times catty and rude. -The spiritual aura. Look I'm well educated in philosophies of the world, am well traveled and have studied a lot, and I'm one of the most tolerant that I know when it comes to the beliefs of others, but the spiritual aura here, the energy, sucks and you know it. It's not positive but rather it's negative, it's evil, and I'm sure that's something that some here might even be proud of and I only say this because there has clearly been a deliberate course of action put in place to achieve this result, and it shows in their attitudes towards people that something spiritually is wrong. I respect beliefs, and I'd say this anywhere else- don't shove your shrine to satanism, catholicism, buddhism, islam or whatever you want to worship in my face. Here, it's shoved in your face very blatantly and purposefully, and people are oblivious or just don't care. The goat head in itself is not some cute little mascot, the horned goat, goat of mendes, Baphomet, god of the witches, the scapegoat, is actually a satanists way of mocking Jesus (described as the sacrificial Lamb who defeated evil by not only being the sacrifice for sin/evil but by raising from the dead). The dark ambiance, the screamo/death metal, the art, the upside down crucifixes and pentagrams etc, well it's not just fun symbolism- it's a proud display of the beliefs of those running the place, and my point is not "look they are satanists who have devoted their business to insulting other faiths and promoting satanism", but rather, the spiritual oppression is evident in the staff's attitudes and the way people feel about the energy in the place. While I do not seek some fake azz corporate vibe when I go for coffee, I -am- looking to better my day and get away from negative/stresses of life. read more

When I am greeted by a condescending, snarky barista, who thinks that smiling is a conforming gesture only to be pitied, I almost get excited. I get excited because the only possible way that this person is still working in service, is because this individual is very talented at making coffee, milk texture, dialing in shots, etc. At the Wandering Goat Coffee Company, I was horribly wrong. I have never gotten such terrible service from a barista who pulled such over extracted shots, and then dumped them into an over aerated bubble bath. Dude, wtf? If the service was awesome, I would've cared less about the less than mediocre coffee. The only way I would ever come back is if I am granted permission to step behind the coffee bar and make my own cappuccino. This may be a good business model for the goat, as it is clear to me that treating people with patience and respect, is unfortunately ALSO in the category of "conforming gestures that are only to be pitied". The baristas are not nearly as cool as they think they are and the only time that they ever even sound somewhat happy, is when another person as unhappy as them walks in the door. DO NOT SMILE HERE, unless you are a pussy. If you're a pussy like me, do not go here, for you will not like it. If you enjoy the service aspect of being a barista, or talking to a barista in the midst of their craft, do not go here. The only time you should go here is if you just got divorced, or your dog ran away. Then maybe your body language/psyche would make this environment more conducive for you. Uneven hair-cuts, being misunderstood, and general unhappiness are encouraged here. read more

there are clouds of smoke forced on your being for walking into the goat. on top of this, their are cigarette butts everywhere on the ground. the landscaping has been the same for the last 5 years. the premise is rather dirty. i once walked by the goat and took a picture of one of the old trucks parked in the charlies auto shop, and a worker from the goat fabricated that she thought i had done drugs. i then later drove up in an escada with a friend from university of oregon, and the worker said i was no longer welcome being a customer. the thing is that most of their full time customers couldn't even afford to drive an escada, let alone the miscommunication and rude customer service that occured, i will forever god damn the wandering goat over its red head idiot worker and her rude illicitly wrong inaccurate information about my body. its a good thing charlie the auto shop guy and i went for a walk some years back and befriended one another, i dont think im an issue for loving one of his trucks on property. old 1940's ford trucks. booooo to false gossip. read more

At the Wandering Goat, you get what you pay for... and it is fabulous. Everything is fair trade, organic, and as local as possible. There is a large regular clientele here, and for good reason. The coffee is top quality, the baristas are kind (don't be fooled by the all black clothing and the heavy metal vibe), and the place feels like home, with worn wooden tables and lots of natural light even on a dreary Winter day. During the week, it is the perfect late night spot to get some studying done and on the weekends to have a beer and listen to a rock show. read more

I go here weekly and think it is by far the best coffee shop in eugene. The new people seem nice and the music, although it can be too much metal sometimes, is overall good. They have created a great atmosphere and are producing good coffee. I don't know what Janet H. below is saying, a burnt espresso would only be if the temp was wrong and every time I go there, even with the new baristas, the espresso has been great. Having traveled a long way to be in Eugene (OK, well, Springfield) for a family medical instance, I needed a respite and someplace to get some work done. Riverbend unknowingly provided exactly that. A 16 oz. cup of their dark roast ran me $2.25, which is an absurdly low price in today's economy. I married that with a coffee cake muffin, which had a very short lifespan. The menu has plenty to choose from; all of the standards between latte to Americano, baked goods plus biscuits and gravy on the ready. My coffee and muffin were delivered with a smile and a friendly reminder of ensuring that the Wi-Fi password had a capital letter in it. Seating is in the large vestibule of the International Market building, but that's all I really needed. I refilled my coffee and slurped it down twice while being able to stay productive and enjoy a quiet environment. Riverbend Coffee wasn't what I was expecting, but it was EXACTLY what I wanted and, more importantly, what I needed.

I walked up and was instantly greeted by both employees at the stand. The menu is right next to the window. The Drink & Food: I ordered a 10oz Steamer [Kid's menu]. A steamer is basically hot milk with flavored syrup. Cool Beanz has an amazingly long list of flavored syrups; you can mix them up! An employee said, "the limit is only your imagination." I recommend coming if you want to be creative with your drinks and be out of the box, they would totally cater to it! I chose hazelnut and toasted vanilla. The barista accidentally poured too much syrup and asked if I wanted it to be extra sweet. Along if I wanted it to be a kid's temperature. I said yes to both, and he obliged. I bought a chocolate jumbo muffin too. It is a basic one from Costco. The Price: The 10oz steamer was $2. The jumbo muffin was $1.50 (pretty sure cheaper than the Dari-mart across the street; same Costco muffins). I think the menu prices are affordable compared to Dutch and Starbucks. Maybe only a few drinks actually reached $5 in price. Extra: They do have coffee specials. They have dog treats! Also, they do fill refillable cups. (I couldn't see the price menu for that too well. But it was about $0.50 off the coffee size on the menu - nice discount and saving the planet!) Overall, if you want some change in your daily coffee, definitely stop by Cool Beanz. Plus, they are local, so you're helping out the community!
