LOCO MOCO (BOWL) - 9.99 The chipotle-sized bowl was topped with loco moco: white rice base topped with hamburger patty, fried egg, grilled pineapple slice, and a generous pour of beef & mushroom gravy, plus sides of fresh cabbage salad and mac salad. The gravy nostalgically reminded me of the ones I'd get from cafeteria-style school lunches -- thick, salty, slightly starchy, yet oddly comforting. The egg, hamburger patty, and rice were pretty standard, but the familiarity of the gravy tied the whole dish together nicely. Both salads were good -- the cabbage was more light and refreshing, while the mac salad felt a bit heavy after all the loco moco. Since it's my first time eating loco moco, I can't say how it compares to others. However, I found HawaU's incredibly comforting and hearty. It really hit the spot for me, and I ate the whole bowl within 10 minutes. The loco moco is definitely their signature option and a must try. When we raised questions about these last-minute terms, while juggling other commitments, the vendor abruptly canceled on us and refused to refund our deposit. He claimed we never returned the signed contract, even though communication had been ongoing for weeks. Between the disorganized billing, poor communication, and last-minute cancellation, we left this experience feeling taken advantage of and deeply disappointed. We would not recommend this vendor based on our experience and lack of trust in his practices.
