The food was mediocre, dry. Unfortunately, the service was even worse. My order was missing onion rings that I paid for. When I called to let them know, there was no apology -- only pushback. I simply asked them to remake the onion rings and have them ready since I was visiting family and didn't know exactly when I'd be able to stop by. Both the employee and the supervisor resisted the request, repeatedly saying they didn't want to "waste" the onion rings if I didn't arrive soon enough. That response was unbelievable considering the mistake was theirs, not mine. In the end, I gave up trying to get the food I had already paid for because it wasn't worth the hassle. What bothered me most was the attitude and lack of accountability. If a restaurant argues over remaking an order they forgot, it really makes you question how seriously they take customer service, food quality, and even basic food handling standards behind the scenes. Mistakes happen, but refusing to promptly correct them -- and acting inconvenienced by doing so -- does not inspire confidence. A decent restaurant would apologize, remake the missing item, and have it ready for pickup. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place, especially for takeout. read more

We were traveling between NJ and TN and came specifically because it was open late (we arrived at 8 pm) and because of the good reviews. We sat at the bar. Menu spans pretty much what most people would eat - appetizers, soup, salads, fish/seafood, steaks, ribs, chicken, sandwiches. I ordered the Prime rib burger, which has sliced prime rib on top of the burger and was served with cheddar cheese and horseradish aioli and was account an au jus. It was juicy and delicious. My husband ordered the fried chicken dinner. It was 2 fried chicken breasts and he said they were delicious and juicy. What's super nice is that there are sides that can be interchanged - French fries, mashed potatoes, baked potato - take your pick. There are vegetables and cole slaw included too. Nice touch. We were in town as tourists and looking for a special place to celebrate a birthday. Our VRBO host recommended the tavern. They told us the wait was 20 min, we waited over 40 minutes. After we were seated, it was fifteen minutes until we saw our waiter. It was an hour before we got our food! The tavern is cute and comfortable. The food was hit or miss. The burger wasn't seasoned and wasn't cooked as asked. The portions were HUGE, but the food was just so-so. The angry bird wrap had no sauce or seasoning to speak of. The nachos and fries were large portions for a "small appetizer" but were three stars at best. The nachos had so many toppings, there weren't any chips! Just a pile of chili on a plate. Decided to eat at the Spring House recently. In the past all the food has been better than any other restaurants in this area. This time I decided to order the spring house steak. When the steak was served it smelled and looked delicious. When I cut it was very tender as expected. BUT one bite it had no taste none. I was surprised and had my wife taste it, she agreed no taste. I added steak sauce and did eat the steak. The steamed vegtables were soggy and I didn't eat them. Service as always very good. Not sure if I will return to this establishment again for a meal. So sad, last fall we ate here and had some of the best burgers we ever had. Today we stopped in and after being seated we had a 45 min wait after the food was ordered. There were empty seats and they were not busy at all. We received burgers that were way overcooked. We both ordered med and there was a touch of pink in mine and my wife's was actually burnt with zero pink. After eating we needed to ask kitchen staff if we could have the bill as the waitress hadn't been seen for twenty minutes after we finished eating. When the bill was brought out by our waitress she waited for us to pay stating "that she wouldn't want us to have to wait on her again" There was another couple there eating and actually had the same conversation about burgers that were way overcooked. Our visit took over an hour and a half and there is zero percent we will ever return. As was the sentiment that was expressed by the other dinners we spoke to. We could wait an extended period of time for good food, be patient for good service, and understand when there is a rush. None of this happened. Just sad! read more

Easy to find and close-by off of I-81. They have great food, extensive beer options serving beers from all over. Their staff was friendly, fast, & knowledgeable; the place was very clean, it was fairly quiet (it was a slower time/day). I had the Philly Cheesesteak, it was very good, they use great bread. My dad had their marinated steak and it was A+++. Salad was FRESH, fries were great, coleslaw (mayo base) was very good, and everything was a nice portion. There are TV's throughout the restaurant , they had men's college basketball playing. There's a bar area to the right behind its own door, and there's also a bar area all the way in the back. I highly recommend this place, and I will go back to try more of their menu when I visit. read more

Food and service: 10/10 I was so glad we went to Spring House Tavern for dinner while we were visiting Bryce Resort. It was about a 30 minute drive, but so worth it! We went on a Sunday night and not many patrons dining at that time. Our server was amazing. Very friendly and attentive. All of the food we ordered came out quickly and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Crab dip was filled with so much crab. Mozzarella sticks were made in house and not from frozen. Kids ribs - the meat was so tender. Country-Fried Pork Chop with a side of Homemade Mac & Cheese was yummy! Nashville-Fried Chicken was juicy and amazing. The Local place to be! Two great bars one in the front and one in the back... all in the towns oldest log cabin very unique warm and inviting. This place boasts Great food, drinks and beers on tap! This looked like a fun option when searching for a place for dinner. The reviews were all good. The building is historic and quaint. It was terribly cold and ourselves and a number of other diners had to wear our jackets while we ate. While that was annoying we would have been ok. However, the food was terrible. My husband ordered a 12 ribeye steak. Eight ounces of it was fat, it was only 1/4" thick, and of course was overcooked. I had a taco salad...I didn't have tremendous expectations as it was described as chili over salad greens. I was disappointed. The shell was overcooked, the chili was too spicy and the greens wilted. I also had a Bloody Mary that had a sweet taste. It seemed as if pickle juice was added. We would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Went here after a show in Edinburg. All five of us were satisfied with what we had, so it was a little above average. We used to go there regularly as we have limited choices in the area, but stopped going as often as they don't change the menu much. Perhaps they should add a daily special that changes for variety. Staying in Basye (on vacay) for 5 days and this restaurant was so good we came back TWICE! The reviews here helped us make the choice initially, but I have to say...the food was so delicious and our waiter was so amazing , it was a no brainer to come back. The first night, I ordered the West Coast Wrap with super yummy homemade chips. It totally hit the spot...just the perfect size and that smoky chili lime sauce really made the difference- such a unique flavor! Oh my, that sandwich was amazing! The croissant was not overly buttery which was my biggest concern- somehow it was similar to a flakey bun in texture but still was moist without being greasy! The turkey was fresh sliced turkey- not turkey cold cut and it was the perfect blend with the bacon and melted swiss cheese. The vegetable medley was simple and exactly what I was looking for, good flavor. To wrap up our last day of vacation, we shared a Brownie Sundae, and let me tell you...the best brownie sundae we had ever had. Big piece of freshly baked HOT brownie with 2 scoops of vanilla bean ice cream and homemade whipped cream...amazing. There was nothing left when we were through. Lastly, I just want to mention how nice the waitstaff is at Spring House Tavern. Darius waited on us both nights, and we are not use to such an attentive and accommodating waiter. Always came over to us with a smile and always checking in on us. The second night he was super busy, but he still had that contagious smile and never appeared to be stressed. We were headed home and stumbled on this place. It is a big place with lots of cozy little rooms. We were in a room with a fireplace facade. It was a nice cozy place to have lunch. We started with the stuffed mushrooms. I wish I had more! They are almost as good as Red Lobsters. I had crab cakes for my main meal. They were also very good. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. my husband and I came to Shenandoah valley for our anniversary . We had planned on spending the weekend taking in the beautiful mountains! There were no actual sit in restaurants that sold more than burgers within a 30 mile radius of us . We stumbled upon this tavern and the menu looked very yummy so we went there . The steak was supposed to be medium and it was almost burnt , not to mention he got a good 4 bites out of it - majority of the meat was blubber . The crab cakes were not too bad but I wouldn't order them again . Overall this place was too expensive and did not live up to the description . Stopped in Woodstock on my roadtrip from MA to Florida, and the hotel front desk recommended Spring House Tavern saying "everyone always says they enjoy it." Well, we did too. It took a while to get seated, but once we did the service was fine and the food fantastic. The menu was large and everything sounded good. We really enjoyed splitting the full rack of ribs dinner, with the Mac & cheese and sugar peas sides. The mango house cocktail was also really yummy. It was my husband's birthday, so we ordered the German Apple pie dessert. It was just ok, the ice cream kinda tasted weird--we think it was vanilla but it tasted like it had a hint of olive juice to me! We were so disappointed in this place. We went for our anniversary and wish we wouldn't have. The online menu had fried pork chops with pepper gravy that we were excited about only to arrive to have a different menu that didn't have them. It came with hardly any sauce and was like garlic better. So I asked for more sauce expecting it to be a more traditional white Alfredo sauce..nope..just more of the runny yellow garlic butter stuff. So glad we found this cute historic tavern in the small town of Woodstock, VA. We ate dinner here after traveling all day and it was a really great meal. The staff were so friendly and were able to seat our party of 8 pretty quickly. The restaurant has tons of seasonal specials in both food and drink. I had the BBQ grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly. It came with tavern chips which I was expecting to be like some kind of fried potato or French fry but they were more like true potato chips. They had a very salty seasoning on them which was good but a little too salty for me at times. Overall I really enjoyed my time here. I did think the prices were a little bit on the expensive side but the food and service were very good! read more
