We were craving for Hainan chicken while in Bethesda and found this place highly recommended on Yelp. Tried it and we were the only customers around 5PM. My husband and I ordered the Hainan chicken since we were both craving it and regretted it after wards. The chicken needs more salt and flavor. The ginger sauce that came with it didn't have oil which in my opinion would have made the dish so much better. We ordered beef noodle soup to give it another try but it also lack some umami. We added xiao long bao for my son but he just ate one. The grandpa that was sitting in the counter kept looking at us so we couldn't enjoy our foods. All in all we decided that this was a one and done deal for us.

We were in the mood for Chinese food and stopped by Wang Dynasty. Everything was yummy and flavorful. Spicy Wonton: Sauce was a little sweet and not too spicy. Fish Dry Hot Pot Style: Prepared traditionally with Sichuan peppercorn and soft fish. Walnut Shrimp: Light coating of mayo sauce on the shrimp.

My sister brought me here for dim sum. We got here at 1:30 (they stopped dim sum at 2 pm). We really wanted the jumbo fried noodle, baked sesame roll, and sweet soy milk. They delivered 110%. AMAZING! LOVE LOVE LOVE! We event ordered an extra soy milk to go. Next, the turnip cake. Delicious. Perfectly pan fried. It's firm and not mushy. Cucumber in hot sauce. Nice flavor, crispy, but not spicy enough. Still good. Mustard green with soy bean- loved this dish. Also ordered an additional serving to go. Lastly the Tawiwanese Minced Pork over rice- great flavor and good portion. Overall great service and great food. Looking forward to our next visit to this restaurant.

This place is pretty good! I came on a sunday evening. We were a party of three. The decor reminded me of my parents' living room so that was promising. For apps i got the tofu with hot oil and the soup dumplings. I liked the tofu; soup dumplings were whatever--def not something to come out for but fine. We got the 香辣 dry pot fish, the dry pot beef, and the sichuan beef noodle soup. The dry pot was pretty good and i like the beef noodle soup too. Food came out very hot which i like. The staff were all very friendly and nice. FYI they close at 8:30pm on sunday. We were one of the last two tables so felt like we needed to leave so they could close up.

Hmmm I can't say I was particularly pleased with my experience here but I also was not disappointed. Neutral I guess. The chicken fried rice was pretty standard but a good baseline for the meal. The spicy wontons could have used a touch more of the sauce because they were pretty bland without it. The crab rangoon had literally no crab in it, basically just fried cream cheese. I love a good Szechuan style green beans and thee definitely held up to some of the best that I have had in the area-- this was definitely my favorite thing that I ordered. I got the spicy pepper chicken because it was on the chef's special part of the menu and I was curious to see what it tasted like. It had a nice crunch and definitely packed a punch. The pieces of chicken were a little smaller than I would have liked but it was still enjoyable. Not sure if I would come back here because of all of the Chinese options in the area, but it was definitely a decent meal.

My husband and I stopped by Wang Dynasty for lunch a week or so ago after doing some shopping at Bethesda Row. Since we were there at lunch/brunch time, we ordered from the brunch dim sum menu. We had the Taiwanese minced pork on rice, chive pocket, noodle with hot sauce, smoked fish, braised beef, pan fried pork bun, and red bean bun. My favorites were definitely the Taiwanese minced pork on rice and the smoked fish. I'd eat those again right now. Overall, the food was very good. The service was great, and the restaurant was traditional and homey. As of October 2021, they are requiring proof of vaccination for inside dining. I'd happily return for another meal.

    Taro dessert

When you have a friend who knows many of the Chinese restaurant owners in the area, you get a bit of history with your meal. So this place has partnered with another Shanghainese restaurant in Gaithersburg. That place is famous for its Eight Treasure Duck which is a whole duck stuffed with sticky rice, Chinese sausage, and nuts wrapped in a lotus leaf. It is such a specialized dish that you are required to order it one day in advance. The dish is enough to serve 8 to 10 adults. And be prepared to pay $45 for it. But I promise, it is worth it! Friends came together to celebrate Chinese New Year. We had nine adults and four small children all under 3 years of age. The restaurant was accommodating and there were several large tables for this small place in Bethesda. We were able to fit everyone at the table. Dishes seemed small in quantity (except for the duck dish mentioned above). We ordered the minced beef with egg white soup as a appetizer for the children. It was good but not something I would order at a Chinese restaurant. I would go straight for the good stuff. We got the snow cabbage & pork rice cake. The rice cake are diced spheres with slices of pork. It was good. For some, the rice cake might seem dense for a noodle dish but they're supposed to be that way. Our other dishes were shredded pork with chive flowers and bean curd sheet, halibut fish filet with garlic white wine sauce, and the house special fried rice. No complaints on any of the dishes. And for our vegetable dish, you can't go wrong with spinach sauteed in garlic. Fresh baby spinach was great. The restaurant was also kind enough to give our table a cold small dish of edamame with mustard greens as an appetizer. For dessert we got a very traditional item that I have never tried before -- a warm taro with red bean paste on the inside. I do like taro especially as one of the dim sum items but I'm afraid this dessert was not to my liking. Our entire table seemed to really like it so that's great. I don't mind being the odd ball out. Parking: It's Bethesda. Parking is not easy unless you're at a location right by a garage. There is extremely limited parking right outside of the restaurant. Service: Friendly and attentive.

    Hot and Sour Soup

I've heard nothing but great things about this place so I recommended it to my coworkers and we went over for lunch. There were 5 of us total and 3 of us, including me, decided to do the lunch special. The special is 2 dishes + soup for $9.95. I ordered the kung pao chicken + hunan beef with a side of hot & sour soup (see photos). From here nothing but chaos ensued as one of my coworkers who ordered hainan chicken was brought hunan chicken. We also ordered the dry hot pot entree and upon the first bite we discovered that the kitchen might have spilled an entire bottle of salt on the dish. Since we already had the slip up with the hainan vs. hunan chicken we opted out of sending the hot pot back. For what it's worth the lunch special dishes came out fine and tasted okay but it's really hard to mess up a staple dish like that. When it came time for the check we were charged $1 extra for brown rice which we never got. We were also charged an extra $2 ($11.95 vs. $13.95). Not sure what happened there but we had to consult the menu to explain the wrong price. During the confusion of the bill the owner walked up to us and we decided now was the time to tell him about the EXTREMELY salty beef hot pot. Rather than take it off the bill he said "the next time you come in I'll give you a free one". Honestly, coming back is going to be a hard sale for me. TL;DR: Stick to something safe like kung pao or orange chicken or prepare to be disappointed. Also, double check your bill.

This is great addition to downtown Bethesda. First impression is very very good. It is tastefully decorated. Food is great. We ordered from the lunch menu and a pork chop noodle soup. The pork chop is outstanding. Service is good. The menu has many authentic Chinese dishes and dim sum for weekends. We certainly will come back to try out other dishes. Parking: There aren't too many parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Metered parking is available across the street. There is a Montgomery county parking garage nearby with very reasonable parking rates (free on weekends). It is Garage 57 - Bethesda - Elm Garage with entrances on Bethesda Avenue and Elm Street.

I saw in another review where one said Rockville's loss is Bethesda's gain, and I must agree; I was SO sad to see them leave Rockville!! However, I do want to congratulate them on this lovely new restaurant. They are located conveniently next to Giant and are only a 10-min walk away from Bethesda Metro station (kind of south west of the station). When you walk inside, they already provide a nicely warm setting with family vibes, and they will make sure that you are comfortable and are enjoying your food. I got to come here with two of my girlfriends, and it was hard for me to choose since they have so many good looking options! We ended up ordering spicy wontons, minced pork with sesame paste noodles, and I think taiwan style sliced chicken. Out of these three items, I really enjoyed the spicy wontons and taiwan style sliced chicken. I love the level of spiciness in these two dishes. I personally love spicy food, but if you cannot handle spicy foods, this might not be for you. The waiter also did a good job tending to our table and keeping my water filled. We did come on a Monday night, so it wasn't as busy, and it was pleasant! Overall, they have a lot of lovely authentic dishes that are worth coming back again to try. :)

The round table we sat at only fit 7. But I don't see why they can't put two tables together for you

Does Wang Dynasty also make Chinese American dishes like beef with broccoli, Chicken Chow Mein and the like? And is it any good? Or do they just do traditional Chinese food? I can't seem to find a good take out place that does both kinds of food.

True Food Kitchen (TKF) shows that it's never too late to make an amazing second 1st impression!…read more Back in mid-2018, my dining companion and I gave TFK a try because we had known about Founder Dr. Andrew Weil's work in integrative medicine and were curious how he would apply his healthful ways into cuisine. While nothing was fundamentally wrong (the Burger was certainly fine), the food tasted of stereotypical "health food," i.e. too bland (especially the Fish Taco). Fast forward ~7.5 years, we decided to give TKF another shot for brunch with their Grilled Sustainable Salmon and Blueberry Pancakes. Both dishes impressed us: full of flavor, bright, and healthful while still very satisfying! The Salmon was cooked through while still moist, buttery, and slightly smoky on the exterior for the light grilling, andthe accompanying crunchy Snap Peas, Organic Wild Rice, and creamy Thai Basil Vinaigrette provided a refreshing and warming complement to the fish. As for the pancakes, they were moist and had a nice hearty graininess (Buckwheat?) together with Organic Blueberry Compote, Greek Yogurt (a naturally tart and lighter alternative to butter), and Maple Syrup for a sweet, tart, and vibrant accent. Since the compote portion was a bit small, we asked for a bit more to which our server kindly obliged! Both dishes left a strong impression on us that we returned this afternoon for both as well as a Blackened version of the Grilled Salmon. While a bit warmer in temperature and spiced in the crust, the inherent oily flavors were actually accented in the blackened version to provide a nice contrast to the plain Grilled Salmon. We savored trying both versions side-by-side! Meanwhile, we enjoyed the Pancakes as a lovely dessert to share! In terms of service, Aubrey made our experience feel like that of fine dining with a relaxing vibe. Attentive and welcoming, she also helped to seamlessly rectified a bit of miscommunication on both of our parts (we meant 1 order of adult portion Pancakes that comes with 2 flapjacks rather than the literal 1 pancake for the kids' version). In the end, we enjoyed having one pancake at a time (once with extra Blueberry Compote, then the next one with the Maple Syrup)! All in all, TFK has matured culinarily by finding the optimal balance of pleasing the palate with fulfiling its mission to source clean ingredients prepared in healthful fashion. Combined with outstanding service and a bright green garden-like ambiance, TFK is great place for diverse diets and those looking to satisfy their mindful eating side!

Not only is their food prepared to delight but each dish was visually appealing that elevated our whole experience. I would recommend arriving for an early dinner and making reservations. Splashes of color and decor reminded us of their proud Ukrainian heritage. Service from the staff was well coordinated, friendly and never intrusive. I felt I was being fed a family's long standing recipes of traditional specialties. The condiments, creamed sauces or microgreenery complimented each individual dish.
