I had high expectations for this place reading all the positive reviews but in the end it tasted like overpriced Chinese takeout food. I got the combination panfried noodles. The sauce was bland and lacking vegetables. They did however separate the noodles from the sauce and they were and crispy and not oily the way I like it. I also got crispy beef which on the menu is dry shredded beef. It was bit oily, soggy, and sweet. I definitely have had better. All in all I paid $37 total for 2 dishes to be delivered. If it was gourmet Chinese I would have not been disappointed but it just tasted like regular Chinese takeout I could have gotten at Harris teeter. I probably would have been more satisfied getting the chirashi sushi bowl from Harris teeter and saved $27. Oh, how we've missed Michael's Noodles since it closed! After a huge increase in their rent at the former Darnestown Rd location (the shopping center where there is now a Trader Joe's), the owners decided not to renew their lease and closed their doors a few years ago. My quest for decent Taiwanese food had been futile ever since and it's been one disappointment after another. Fortunately for me and my husband, the long-dormant Michael's Noodles Facebook page showed a brief sign of life in March, when the planned opening of Wang Dynasty was posted. I finally made it to the new location this evening and was excited to be greeted with a hug from the lovely Wei, who used to always tell me, "Tell your Honey I said 'Hi'" when I left with my takeout orders. Is the food exactly the same? No, but I can't wait to go back because it's still excellent and I'm looking forward to seeing how more of my old favorites have evolved. My husband was initially disappointed when I gave him a container with what we thought would be his former favorite dish, bean curd and shrimp in egg white sauce. It was immediately apparent that this was NOT the same dish he used to get. Despite his initial disappointment, he ate it all and declared it delicious! TL;DR - Came to try out this new restaurant on it's first day. I will definitely be coming back again and again. Came here with a bunch of friends on this restaurant's opening day. Got there pretty early for dinner service so there were plenty of seats. The place is spotless, everything looks new and the ambiance is really nice. Service was pretty good overall, it got pretty busy during dinner but the waiters made sure our water cups were never empty. Food came out pretty quickly and we shared it family style. There is a picture for every dish except the beef chow fun. It was too good so we finished it before I could snap one. My favorite dishes were the spicy chicken, salt and pepper pork chop, hainan chicken and rice, spicy beef noodle soup and beef chow fun. It's a majority of the dishes we got, but I think it goes to show that this restaurant can cook. All the dishes have so much flavor, taste fresh and are cooked to perfection. The portion sizes and price are very worth as well, we all left full and happy. There are a lot of Chinese restaurants in Montgomery County but this will definitely be my new go to. Many other restaurants have decreased in value/flavor over time so it's great to have some new options coming in. read more

Came here with my little sister to celebrate her birthday and it definitely won't be our last time here. We ordered Szechuan beef noodle soup, dan dan noodles, and spicy wontons. They were all delicious!! The portion sizes were so BIG and dishes were priced very fairly. The Szechuan beef noodle soup was especially a game changer. The broth is a heart of a good beef noodle soup. The broth tasted like the mom and pop shops in Taiwan filled with aroma and flavor. It's WONDERFUL. I'm pretty picky with my chinese food but this place is legit! Same owners as michael's noodles apparently! First time hearing dry hot pot and it was amazing! We had the spicy pork dry hot pot (middle of the menu page) and it was sooo good! The beef noodle soup was a good choice and the noodles were soft and slurpful! A good veggie dish is the snow peas leaves with garlic, didn't taste too salty like other restaurants. The hainanchicken comes cold but it's a much younger and leaner chicken which came with this amazing salted broth rice. Tasted great if you dip it with some soy sauce and their ginger/chili dips. Otherwise it's not flavored but this is how it is normally cooked. The salt and pepper shrimp was also a good find. Interestingly enough, they de-shelled and grouted out the shrimp poop. Usually this comes with the shell and everything so it was perfect! I will definitely be back. They have dim sum in the mornings too! Parking is limited and free in the front but there aren't many slot and there's a lot of restaurants around here. The food was amazing! It smelled and tasted like delicious home cooked comfort food. My favorite dish was the beef noodle soup. It had the softest beef cubes ever. It just melted in my mouth. Just like how my mom would make them. Everyone there was super nice and welcoming! The waitress was so sweet! Stumbled upon this place while in Bethesda for work and so glad I decided to try it! The food here did not disappoint. The Hainan chicken is very tender and flavorful and as good as the versions I had while in Singapore. The hot and sour soup was also very tasty. I came back to try the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, which had a nice spicy kick, tender chunks of beef and chewy noodles. My first time here. This restaurant is next to a few other Asian places so it was hard to choose! We came in, it was very clean. We were greeted & seated immediately. The host talked to us and she was very friendly. Waters came to us with menu! We had hot & sour soup! It was so gooood! We also had pork fried dumplings that came with a yummy sauce that was out of this world! At this point my husband and I were impressed bc Chinese food is usually super greasy but this place was great. Not greasy at all. For dinner we got kung paw chicken & Mongolian beef. Yum yum yum! I am always on the look out for a good, or even pretty good, Chinese restaurant within a closer driving distance to my home, in order to avoid having to drive the distance to Rockville for tasty, authentic Chinese food. After reading the reviews, I had hoped the Wang Dynasty might be that place, but the answer is a resounding "NO"! My dish of pork with bean sheets and chive blossoms was the greasiest Chinese dish I've eaten in years, and lacked flavor. My husbands Dan Dan noodles were equally disappointing. Solid newly opened Chinese restaurant in the Bethesda area. This popped up on our radar this week while in the area for work and despite the new opening issues inherent to many new establishments the glowing reviews convinced us to give it a try. Nicely modern space in the location of a previously "old school" Chinese restaurant (we were told by folks at the nearby table). Pretty busy considering they are only on Day 2! It took a few minutes to get menus and water and tea (you have to ask) but once we got someone to take our order things improved nicely. I'd say this is better than average Americanized Chinese food. Started with spicy wantons which were fine. The filling was rather meager but the hot oil it sat in was nice ! We had the salt and pepper pork chops and I think that was my favorite dish of the night. Plenty of porky goodness and nicely cooked. The orange peel beef was just sitting in too goopy a sweet sauce and there was no "kick" to it and not the crunchy texture I look for in this dish. Not a winner IMHO. Then we had a sautéed chicken dish w veggies and broccoli that was okay - once again toned down for western tastes so it appears. Overall not bad I and I suspect they will do fine in this area. Glad I can go back to the Bay Area where Chinese food is made like it is for citizens of shanghai and not suburban MD. Good,....not great. All the best ! read more

From the former owners of Pacifica and Michaels Noodles, there is finally authentic Chinese food in Bethesda. The menu has the vast majority of the options that were at the previous locations, especially Pacifica, including the 8 treasure duck and other preorder specials. The lunch deal is also quite good as you get two dishes and a soup for $9.95. I was super excited to hear they were opening and highly recommend them when you're in the mood for Chinese. read more

It used to be one of our favorites for dim sum. But one time 5 months ago, for our pickup order, the sticky rice wrap (飯團), was not fresh at all, apparently re-microwaved in plastic wrap with fillings sticking altogether. SO disappointing at such poor quality dish after driving there (6 miles away from my house) and having to throw away the dish after back home opening it with my children. read more

We've been going here since before they took it over from another longtime Chinese restaurant owner. Wang Dynasty is so much better! Their pork steamed dumplings are the best that we've ever had. My husband likes traditional Chinese, such as Moo shi pork or sweet & sour chicken or pork, and I like hotter dishes, from the dry and wet hot pots. They are great! GO!!! I was missing the Dan Dan noodles I used to get at the now closed, Michael's Noodles in Rockville. I found out the owners started a new restaurant in Bethesda. My cravings were satiated. The Dan Dan noodles here were as I have fondly remembered. Spicy and garlicky, the spinach and shredded pork gave it the extra texture and flavor kick to make a perfect bowl after a good mixing. I could never find another bowl like this elsewhere as typical Dan Dan is doused in peanut butter and overly floral Szechuan pepper sauce. Also ordered some fried pork dumplings and the dipping sauce has a nice yuzu flavor. Very happy with my Saturday lunch takeout. Thank you Wang Dynasty. Don't go away...I'll be back. read more

Probably one of the tastiest authentic Chinese restaurants I've had in a while. Great service! The dishes came out really quickly, and the wait staff were super friendly. The mood and ambiance of the place had nice Chinese decoration and a welcoming environment. Our group ordered the Chicken: Hainanese chicken and rice, Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and Beef: Dry Fry Beef OR Crispy Beef which I highly recommend. The Chicken Hiananese was very soft and had a nice easy to crew to the texture. The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup had enough kick in it where it was spicy just enough but also if you are a person who can't eat super spicy foods, you were still able to enjoy it. The Beef: Dry Fry Beef was the icing on cake for us. The beef was tender but also tasted very sweet. I initially was excited about trying this place, with its high star rating. If you go to this restaurant, I suggest sticking to the lunch specials. A friend and I strayed from the lunch special menu and were incredibly disappointed. The Hainan Boneless Chicken with rice was fatty, with a soft and slimy texture. It also tasted like the only seasoning on it was salt. The dry hotpot my friend ordered was incredibly salty and completely inedible(and he usually likes salty food). Eating lunch here ruined my appetite for Chinese food for a while. It's been a long time since I've had this bad of a restaurant experience. The service was good though, the waitresses were friendly and attentive. My friends that got the lunch specials and were fine with it. But the food experience overall was unpleasant. read more

A couple of friends and I have been in search of an authentic, family-owned Chinese restaurant in the Northwest DC area and this was it for us. We've tried several options and none come close to Wang Dynasty. We came in to dine in at an off-peak time and were the only table in the restaurant. Everything was very clean and the service was attentive from the moment we walked in. The couple who I could only assume were the owners took incredible care of us. The hot and sour soup was brothy and rich, the dumplings succulent, and the spring rolls fresh and not oily. We got the garlic sauce chicken as well as the Szechuan chicken for our main entrees and both were superb. As another reviewer mentioned, nothing was overly spicy, which allowed the flavors of the ingredients to shine through. At the end of our visit we mentioned how impressed we were with the food, and one of the staff members took the time to star her favorite options on a takeout menu before giving it to us. We will certainly be back. As a bonus, the restaurant offers two dedicated (free) parking spots for customers out font. For someone who hates hounding down parking as much as I do, this option made the visit even more pleasant. read more
