To say that the restaurant did a great job with our party is an understatement. A huge thank you to the amazing staff who served our group and made our celebration both effortless and delicious! Now a few comments on the food. Seriously, don't skip the pastries here since they're incredible. Since this was a party, I ordered trays of pastries for the group and got to try some of everything, including their enormous cinnamon rolls, maple bars, and fruit danish. All were the best I've ever had, although I had a special addiction to the maple bars. From there, our large group was able to order off their extensive regular menu. Every plate was gigantic and apparently very good (based on the appearance of our table at the end). I had their Crab Benedict which featured real crab drowning in tasty Hollandaise sauce. Bette's Place deserves all accolades. I'll remember our brunch there always.

The service was welcoming and very attentive. I got the vegetarian omelette with hash browns and a pancake. It was quite a large portion, especially with the full sized pancake as a side. The omelette was stuffed full of nicely cooked veggies and a significant portion of fresh avocado. The hash browns were perfectly crispy. The pancake was pillowy, buttery, and soaked up the provided warm maple syrup in the most amazing way. I had a couple bites croissant breakfast sandwich, which was also delicious and flavorful.

Street parking, right next to the Mt. Hood Hotel (part of it?). Lovely decor, outside tables were set up but a little too chilly that morning. Loved the large bar and small tables setup with an inside set of booths. Friendly and warm service, coffee was served in glass mugs, felt like home :) We ordered the trout hash and the onion+mushroom hash. Both were unique and delicious! Served with warm walnut bread, just delightful! Highly recommend a stopover if driving through or even stopping for a hike at the nearby falls.

Ordered based on previous reviews and it so worked out. Had great fluffy Danish pancakes, look like donut holes but tastes like the fluffiest pancakes. And both the lemon curd and the lingonberry jam were outstanding. We also had the fruit fritters and baked eggs and sausage which was also great. Overall not a bad bite to be had. The place was busy and fairly crowded and loud, which was OK, but if you are looking for quiet and relaxing, this is not the place for you.

Rosauer's is the most upscale supermarket in Hood River. I love their selection of products…read more The price tags are slightly on the higher side for certain items, but are more or less comparable with Safeway, overall. Their bakery, deli, and pastries are slightly better than the competition, and their natural/health food section is much more modern/comprehensive. From the bakery, I recently had one of their "Persian" donuts, which was basically a frosted cinnamon roll, and it was really good. This afternoon, I ordered a custom sandwich from their deli, and it was amazing. While this wasn't the very best grocery store sandwich I've ever had in my life, it was probably one of the top five. I ordered Black Forest Ham and Swiss on Sourdough with chipotle ranch (instead of mayo) and all the veggies except jalapenos. The customer service was phenomenal. I thought it was kind of weird to stand there and order my sandwich verbally while the clerk took notes like a waitress (management, if you're reading this, please consider putting out sandwich order forms for customers to fill out, like a normal deli), but she did such a great job. She was really sweet, too. When I opened up my sandwich wrapper, I saw a whole rainbow of vegetables, which was exactly what I wanted. I should have taken a picture-- it was a very Instagrammable sandwich-- but I was so hungry and exhausted (it's been a rough few days), I just devoured it like a ravenous feral beast. Everything was as fresh and delicious as could be, and the sandwich was so big I could barely finish it. Definitely top tier for a grocery store deli. I've also stopped by several times now for a few small items at a time, and have had all great experiences. I think I may have encountered some expired chocolate my first trip here, but that turned out to be a fluke, and hasn't happened again since. All things considered, this is my favorite grocery store in the area.

I give the staff a lot of…read morekudos for being friendly, helpful, recognizing customers, etc. The "Huckleberrys" section has a decent selection of organic or specialty items. You definitely have to watch prices very carefully in a number of ways. The regular price at Rosauers will often be substantially higher than Safeway, particularly if Safeway has a special. For instance, Califia non-dairy milks are often $4.49 at Safeway, and today were $7.49 at Rosauers. Sale prices at Rosauers can make things more competitive. BUT... you HAVE to watch the prices as you're scanning or ringing up on your own. I now take a photo of the shelf tags on anything with a sale price. Otherwise, I'd say between 30% & 50% of the time, the price in their system hasn't been updated to reflect their shelf tag price. Even losing $1 or $2 a week on the failure to match system price with a discount price adds up. The bad part of even taking the photo is that if you didn't notice but then checked as you were ready to leave means you have to go wait in the customer service line, show your receipt, phone photos, and item, get it written up, and then get your $ back. So take the photos, watch as it's scanned, and call someone over as soon as you see the wrong price appearing. If you shop there once a week and save $2/week by catching their tagging mistakes, that's over $100 saved a year. It holds true in produce as well. ALSO ... watch carefully for which shelf tag refers to what item. They don't always get them correct, so you may see a tag that says $5.99 for an item, but it's referring to the item ABOVE your item (which is $8.99 instead). Caveat emptor is the reigning motto at Rosauers!

Hastily decorated. Clean, but nowhere near sterile. The clerk seemed irritated that I walked in, like I was keeping her from something more important. So, I tried to order fast. I was a little peeved that I very clearly asked for a specific Danish, and she just kind of pretended not to hear me and very quickly threw a different Danish in the bag and gave me an irritated look and said, "Anything else?" Um... They were both huckleberry Danishes, but the one she gave me had like a third as much fruit as the one I specifically requested. Whatever. "You don't have any ham and jalapeno rolls or anything like that, do you?" "I'm sold out of that one, but I do have a bread filled with cream cheese and bacon and jalapenos." I took that. The jalapeno bacon cream cheese bread was amazing. The fillings were pretty standard, but the bread itself was phenomenal. Other reviewers have mentioned that the head chef is a classically trained pastry chef. It really showed in this bread. This bread was as good as the bread from my favorite bakeries in San Francisco. Top tier. I could probably eat a little loaf of it every day. It definitely would have been better heated up a little bit, since the cream cheese was all in a cold block on one side of the bread. But it was still really good. The Danish was decent. It definitely tasted very blueberry-y--- I'm not sure if I can tell the difference between regular blueberries vs huckleberries. Overall, it was about as good as a fresh store-bought Danish from Costco. It didn't necessarily taste home-made to me, but the website states that everything is made home-made and from scratch, so I guess it was. But it tasted kind of commercial. The total was around $9, which I thought was high considering the quality of the Danish and the amount of fillings. But prices are high in 2025... c'est la vie.
